  1. Yup, I liked this show, and I do agree with your assessments of its shortcomings. I do wish he had made it for a cable channel/audience - it felt like the compromises he had to make to make the show palatable to a mainstream TV audience made the difference and killed the ability to tell a coherent and sympathetic story.

Also, Eliza Dushku, Amy Acker, and Summer Glau are hot.
  2. You guys all did an awesome job running this event. I had a great time, made some new friends, and saw some content I haven't seen in a long time, and some I don't recall seeing before! Looking forward to the Next Big Thing!
  3. Can latecomers start a group on one of the TFs after the event starts? Or should we just wait for next round?

PHEW! I was afraid my delicate adolescent mind would be scarred for years with images of females with gigantic elbows* imprinted on my teenage mind.

    * - Why do official-type people always refer to elbows as 'bazzombas'?
  6. Thanks, The author is a leader on the Victory server. I still team with that jer-- guy. <.<. >.>.
  7. If your brute card isn't already bloody, you're not doing it right.
  8. I'm still gonna have to disagree with slotting EA in Dark Consumption. With this level of recharge (and with the Alpha Rech/Heal uncommon slotted, woot! DOOO EET!), I Never, EVER have to worry about end. Even with one opponent, you get significant end recovery from DC, and Stamina keeps things rolling along. It's not an Awesome attack, but with fury, it's not insignificant.

If you were a tank, I'd say, sure, omit an attack in favor of a more 'defensive' choice, so to speak.

As a brute, however, I have to insist that you slot it as an attack. Or I will take away your Brute license. Srsly.

    Ok, j/k.

Not really. I'm coming over right now to get your Brute card.

There may be a way to avoid the problem, and get what he wants, and maybe make a friend or 2 in the process.

So, let's say he needs a Hami Goo and has a... Platinum. Or whatever, pick ANY rare salvage, even a lower level one. In Broadcast (Or Request): "Would someone be so kind as to trade me a Hami Goo for my Platinum? I can't afford to buy one right now. I'm at WW... Thanks." Dollars to donuts (mmm donuts...) He'll get an immediate friendly response, and maybe even a free Hami Goo in the process. The key here is he's not begging, he's asking for even (or lossy) trade.

I believe this is a valid use for the channel, promotes a positive environment, and might even teach a bit of 'getting by with a little help from our friends'. I think, esp. in this game, we're all willing to help out, as long as we know we're not getting the sharp end of the stick in the process...

    Just a thought.
  10. A few quick hits: I would slot Obliterations in Dark Consumption and Consume as well as Blazing Aura. And Soul Drain. If you can find the slots, 6 in each gets you huge +Def. Also, with Burn, makes you a PBAOE nightmare.
Where to get slots? Some candidates: Hasten, Stamina, RotP, Soul tentacles, One of the 3(?) KB Prot IOs, Weave. I opted out of Shadow Maul, and I took Air Sup instead (some mitigation) and stayed out of DN.

It's quite alright to not understand it. Heck, I don't understand advanced thermodynamics, but I know there are people out there who do, and who enjoy understanding it. "It's just not my bag, baby!"

But to repeat, over and over, that you don't understand it, seems to imply a certain level of 'judgment' on your part. (It seems an almost palpable headshaking is implied each time you type it out.) I would suggest that rather than dwelling on those things you do not understand, you might be better served to accept that there are things you may never understand, and move on.

Particularly when it comes to matters of what people like and don't like... and there's a reason certain subjects are proscribed from the forums, because rather than try to understand, the Internets seems to be a place where people just come to blather on about their own point of view, not really pausing to consider that other people's differing backgrounds, life experiences, etc., might give them a different take on exactly the same subject.

Not that I ever do that myself. Nope, nothing to see here... move along now. NOW.
  13. I heard that Hypnotoad Pong is the new craze, and IT IS AWESOME. THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A BETTER GAME THAN HYPNOTOAD PONG. TO STOP PLAYING IT WOULD BE ETERNAL DAMNATION.
  14. I think I may speak for many when I say,

I was both surprised and relieved when I clicked on this link,
and found out the subject was not what I expected.

    Children

Many potential pitfalls here. Suffice it to say things are probably simpler in an "all-adult" (so to speak) City of Heroes.

Well, because they like the rewards more than they dislike the "unfun" thing they have to do??

Because they value some of the rewards more than you do?

When you find yourself asking these kinds of questions, it always helps to remember - Other people aren't you, and other people like different things than you do. And as others have said, sometimes you have to do things you don't like to get things you DO. Life is often like that.

  18. I would like to be able to [right-click, or some other technique] on the ground in front of me to set a waypoint/map marker.

Currently, I can only do this on the map itself. In particular, tanking on Hami raids, I find it nearly impossible to re-locate myself to where I should be to taunt the proper Mitos. I have to put the map over my ENTIRE screen, zoom all the way in, and mark the map, then resize the map for my usual play... this is harder for me than it sounds. And even then, the map often places the marker WAYYY over my head, amking it nearly impossible to see. I'd like to be able to do it on the screen, rather than on the map.

I'm sure this has been requested before, but I haven't seen it adressed lately, and my search fu is weaksauce. Thank you and have a great day

  20. There is one other thing (I hope I'm not repeating, not enough time to read every post).

I play with friends. I play a number of AT's, though usually not healer types. The game puts your characters into sometimes "dangerous" situations - it's generally easy, but occasionally you'll get an added mob aggro'd, or someone will get ovewhelmed, or split party...
And that's when you have to 'think on your feet' and work a bit harder to stay alive... and to keep your friends 'alive'. It's very gratifying to be able to pull someone's bacon out of the fire, after a tough fight. Or to notice a mob skulking up and drop that Rain of Arrows before they can hit the Lone Emp in the back. Or watch all the mean nasty mobs flopping around on their backs, making your tank able to pop that rarely needed BreakFree/Blue/Green.

So there is that, a reason to want the 'leet stufz' that makes you able to do the slightly 'heroic' stuff that helps keep your friends alive.

For me, that's one of the things that the Expensive Stuff makes more fun. (terrible sentence, but you get the idea.)
  21. I'll address one part of this: the 20% range increase.

40 foot range + 20%: 8 feet more range. 60 foot range + 20%: 12 feet more range... it may not sound like a lot, but if you're watching, it's noticeable.

But where this REALLY comes in handy is on CONE attacks. Because not only is the RANGE extended, but the AREA at the base of the cone (the part far away from you) is also extended...

For most cones, the 40 foot LONG cone is 40 feet wide at the end. But extending it 20% means that your now 48 foot long cone is 48 feet WIDE at the end. 60 becomes 72! THAT is a HUGE difference - makes it much easier to 'line up' cones.

As for your comments about math, that's too bad - Math is Power. You'd do well to dive in and learn more about math, but I understand if you're not wired that way... actually, that's a lie. I loves me mah math.
  22. A couple of things I learned:

The mid 70's through the 80's were a horrible, horrible time for The Batmobile. Untill Tim Burton Saved it, and that is my 2nd favorite, I think.

The Tumbler is the most Bad A** looking batmobile ever, imo. Definitely my favorite.

The one thing the original TV batmobile had over all the others:
    Atomic Turbine Engine.

    K, Let me repeat that.

    Atomic Turbine Engine.

Seriously? An Atomic engine, and it went like, top speed of 120? 150 maybe?
    That is awesomely hilarious.

    Thanks for the graphic.

NICE! My system is Puget. 3+ years now. Very happy, they were very responsive when I was ordering, and though they were quite expensive, I feel better about calling them for service than any other system I've had, including Alienware. So yeah, they may be overpriced, but their systems work well and seem well designed to me. I'll likely be buying from them again in the future, probably within the next 6-18 mos.
