Quote:I know, and yes, we need a new crop of victims. Let the passive-aggresive bullying begin.Yeah, I certainly didn't mean it that way. I'm just saying that there are few people stepping up to lead raids these days, though there is a lot of interest in attending them. I have agreed to run them on Mondays, and Warboss has agreed to lead them on Wednesdays, though neither of us feel that entitles us to anything. It's just what we do to help out.
I will start naming names soon. Ask HRO how that works.
Quote:As far as villain raids go, I'd like to help run them, but I don't know them as well as I do hero raids. I'm willing to learn and give it a go if there is enough interest.
One thing I personally think is important (as much from a people standpoint as any other) is that people learn Blue Raids (and get some credibility running those) before running Red Raids - there's a lot less margin of error redside and it helps if people trust you. -
I just hit 2 years a little over a week ago and I'm still having fun.

Quote:I'd simply say that both groups are very bad tanks or have no experience tanking, IMO.A number of people will say things like, "Every tank needs Taunt." while others will say, "No tank needs Taunt."
Both groups are idiots. Any blanket statement grouping or excluding everyone is automatically suspect. There is tremendous variation in players and powersets. -
Taunt comes down to two things: the player and the build.
Depending on those two factors, there is no wrong answer.
(Although I'd recommend new tankers take it until they get more proficient with aggro management). -
I sorta got burned out on running red raids, because no one new seemed geniunely interested in doing so.
So there's an opening for you.
And I know you meant it in fun, but to anyone contemplating running an event, no player "owns" a night - everyone I know who leads raids are happy to let someone else have a go at it - although it'd help if you had some raiding creditials. -
If you do upgrade to an active client, I would suggest you take a look at the Mentor Project, linked in my signature.

Ran across what looks to be a neat site for new players - http://coh.withinmyworld.org/

Permit me to put in the obligatory plug for the Mentor Project.

Quote:My answer to that is always, "Yes, whenever you remember to SB."On my Kin I often ask before a mission "Okay anyone don't want SB?"
It's not your responsibility to make my toon work ok, so I'm not going to demand it. But whenever you remember to hit me with it, I'll appreciate it. I just may not say it because now I can mow down mobs any faster and I don't want to waste time. -
One of a kin's jobs is to sb people who want it. One of a tanks jobs is to manage aggro. One of a scrapper's jobs is to do dmg to enemy mobs. One of a blaster's jobs is to die in a blaze of AoE-spam glory.
In all such cases, I neither see the need to offer nor the need to demand thanks for people doing their jobs. -
I doubt there'd be a guide per se, because in order for it to be beneficial to a returning player, it'd have to be tailored to them - their level of experience, playstyle, etc.
I'd point them to the list of issues (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Issues) and let them look over it an ask questions about any topic that caught their interest. -
That's fair.
To be honest though, I'm not even going to bother with it - I don't see the point in going through the hassle of registering or even logging in just to d/l it. Thus far, the downloads have taken a big step back in terms of useability.
As it is, I found an old login I had (different name, different email, etc.) and logged in with that, which is what I base my observations on. Even with an account that should be able to d/l, if I need to get the files in the future, I'm more apt to ask people I know if they have 'em handy and could email them to me rather than dealing with the site.
Again though, thanks for the advice. -
IE so the only filter setting would be "worms and viruses please".

I spent 10 minutes and multiple attempts trying to register and it kept failing the registration, saying the highlighted fields needed to be correct but there were no highlighted fields.
Y'know, forget that. If I need updated map pack files, I'll get 'em from someone who already downloaded them. I'm not going through the hassle of registering (especially when it's that frustrating) just to download a map file that used to be so easy to get. -
*huff puff*
Sorry guys, just got here.
*gasp wheeze*

Scroll up. Look at Dechs Kaison's signature - he has a link after "What's so great about the softcap?"
Click on it. Read it. Bookmark/Favorite it in your browser.
I wish I hadn't been playing for a year and a half before finding that article. -
Before replying to the OP, I would simply suggest that one review his posting history.

I'd like to thank you anonymous neg reppers for two things:
1) Not getting it.
2) Helping show why rep is useless.
Also, for helping me defeat the forums.
-
Don't take it too badly, I'm constantly amused that people too cowardly to sign their neg rep have the arrogance to think I care about their opinions, like the following:
"As justifiable as it is to neg rep you."
Hello, anonymous keyboard warr...wait, you're not even a keyboard warrior if you're anonymous.
I think you actually have to work at being that much of a coward, considering most or all of us here use pseudonyms but someone's too afraid to even use that.
In any even, that's for the laugh - your anonymous tears tell me I'm on the right course and reminded me to neg rep Alt. -
Quote:Because.Well that's even sillier. Frivolous reporting of threads and posts is against the rules, isn't it? So why isn't frivolous reporting of negative rep? Even if there isn't a specific rule, I believe the mods certainly would take action against someone reporting everything.
