I've seen two different approaches, and they are about equal in frequency. The first is "team 3 kill the adds". I've been on that team sometimes.

The other is "dedicate a melee or two from each team to the adds". Since I play a crab, I don't get that job. I prefer this one anyway really as it is more equitable.

Either way, once you have your slots unlocked it's mostly moot since thread drops are fairly sparse in my experience compared to astral merit conversion.

Funny, the trials are thus more inclusive than the two incarnate TFs. But then I have long been of the opinion that the alleged hurdle to join an Apex or Tin Mage was like leaping over a paperclip.

If future trials have 54+3 enemies, don't you think people will want to make sure the people on their team are at least 50+3?
How about we panic over that 'atrocity' by the devs when we get to it? Can't we limit ourselves to their current 'atrocities'?
I mean to hear it now, they are absolutely ruining the game, and making it all but unplayable. I should think you'd expect COH to be well and truly buried long before that ever made it to release.

One or two levels doesn't make a difference, but there's definitely going to be a cutoff period where you aren't going to be too keen on inviting someone to fight +12 enemies. Exactly when, if, and to what degree we hit that point is up in the air though. It's not out of the realm of possibility that future trials will effectively require level shifts, and that people who don't have them won't be very welcome.
Even better, we get hyperbolic, speculative doomcalling. Of course a +3 level shift in the face of +12 enemies will do exactly diddly squat, but why let facts distract us?

I can't account for all outliers. The only case in which I've ever seen level shift mentioned was on one BAF where the +3s were put on a single team to take care of adds to get the strong and pretty badge. The whole league benefited from that partition, but nobody was excluded from the league.

If you don't stay with the pack you never catch up.

A +3 toon is more attractive to teams than a +1, so if you don't have the T3s at least, you are in danger of being left out of future content.

As such Level shift is not optional.
    Bollocks.

I have been doing trials pretty much every night since i20 went live. I have never seen any recruiting specification beyond "we'd like a tank".

No "you need level shifts". No "you need slotted judgement". No "we need destiny barrier rare". Nothing. Nobody is that uptight about it, well maybe except you.

What I have seen is "grab him if he can fog a mirror so we can get this damned run started".

Dechs: Its alot harder to get a Lambda trial simply because people run them less and less as time goes by.
Lambda is slightly harder and longer, so people pursue the path of least resistance (BAF). However since you can only get an Empyrian merit from each TF roughly once per day you will still find lambdas if you try. I have not had trouble getting lambdas each day. It just takes longer for them to start.
  5. I would agree that power for the system might be an issue, but I don't think materials would be a serious concern. You can make some pretty amazingly strong materials these days. I wouldn't worry about that.

Honestly I suspect the thing might be doable at some scale (full scale, maybe not since that is a fairly large behemoth). But as I said, I'm glad it's just for kicks. Walking military vehicles are an insanely stupid idea (especially one with a configuration like that).
  6. I was worried for a second that the DoD got some insanely stupid notion, but since it's just fans on a lark, that's just fine.

The TF and SF are quite different, and include a lot of maps and other features. They are hardly thrown in. We've seen issues with less content than those two before.

How about you just ignore the incarnate trials and accept that two good TF/SFs were added to the game?

    Quote:
If you have a comprehension problem, then that's not my fault, but if you can't work out I have no problems with end games in any game. The way it has been implimented in this game just beggers belief.
Considering how many obvious departures from reality your commentary suffers from, you should not be slagging people for comprehension issues.

    Quote:
You can fail and still get rewarded and the marvelous endgame here involves running just TWO Trials over and over and over and over....
We have a comprehension issue here. The two new trials are just part of the picture. Anyone which even a modicum of awareness knows that two other incarnate trials are coming down the pike fairly soon, and there are the two incarnate TFs (Apex and Tin Mage) which can only be played by incarnate prepped level 50s.

    Quote:
Well if you are very happy with that then go knock yourself out, have fun with it. Go grind it 5 times a night till your eyes bleed and be happy.
The two trials are only really required for the incarnate XP for opening the slots. Since shards will now drop for any 50 with alpha open now, you can do any content in the game to secure advancement in incarnate status now (with a 1:1 conversion of shard to thread, this is even easier, used to be much higher in beta).

    Quote:
I for one am not happy with this. They have made themselves a paradox of grining and loosing but still getting rewards.
As with everything in this game, you make progress even if you don't succeed(if I fail on a LRSF I will have gained influence, prestige, and drops the whole way like normal). The only real issue here is that failure is explicit and will happen. Normally the game is so easy as for failure to be an almost never occurrence. You get better rewards if you do succeed like in the rest of the game.

    Quote:
It's not even learning the tactics that is the problem, people know them.

It is the way you are all...Alpha Slotted and IO'd to the hilt with billions of inf spent or SO's only....reduced by gimmicls to been wiped and given token rewards till you get slotted with these new powers....that ONLY work on these two grindfests to actually complete it properly.
There are exactly 2, yes count them-2 effects of the incarnate powers which are limited in effect to the trials. These are the latter incarnate shifts (formerly known as level shifts). Every other power will work for all other content run at level 50.

    Quote:
You don't have to learn the tactics...go to the forums, read them, print them out, have them next to you as you fight. Won't help you though till you get all those new powers and then you stand a chance on a random LFG tool.
Hogwash. I mean complete and utter hogwash. The irony of you complaining here that the trials are too hard (which they are not, they are merely not walk overs like almost all other content), while complaining earlier that people get rewarded for failure is rather glaring.

The trials are not that hard. While there are bugs, a team with a modicum of organization, and some clue about what has to be done will succeed. The only reason you would need to start piling up the incarnate powers is if you want to do the trials with undersized teams. Full teams doing either trial are reasonably easy.

    Quote:
One TF for everyone and Two limited Grindfests, nice really for the time they had I suppose but not progression raiding where they could of had the Alpha slot beginner slotted and SO's as the entrance benchmark and gone from there with proper tactics and a few differant ways you could complete it, but no, they went for the happy endgame most of you seem ok with.

Depressing really what people will be happy with these days.
We get the idea that you don't like the trials. Fine. However lying about the actual state of affairs does nothing to make your case. Stick to actual facts and don't make things up or people will call you on it and you won't come out looking good.

True enough, but given the track record of JLA efforts so far I can't say I'm overly optimistic, and I generally cut comic book movies a fair amount of slack (I didn't even mind Dardevil or Wolverine too much).

  13. I've had this bug for a while, and bugged it in game a few times to no avail. It only happens on some of my alts, but not others.

But when I go to the enhancement screen, I am unable to actually mouseover a placed IO and find out what it actually is. This is something of a problem since once I start placing a set in, I don't know which ones are already in.

Right now I am seating a purple set (finally can afford one), and I have no idea which ones I have already and thus which ones I still need. This is pretty annoying really.

Has anyone else had this issue or know of a solution?

I think if they wanted to do something like that, it would just be squatter's rights, as in who got the name first. I also think that's more trouble that it would be worth. This is like complaining that someone gave you a BMW, BUT iN THE WRONG DAMNED COLOUR!!!!

However I do think you are making a mountain out of a molehill at the very least. Then again if the enjoyment you get from the game is so marginal that this perceived slight makes you bail, so be it.

  18. I don't imagine the notion that those names were likely in use on the NA servers before you even started playing occurred to you?

I don't think you have any idea how fast the good names got snatched up in the first year. Names as obviously appealing as those were probably gone in the first 3 months.

Actually I think you are missing a market segment here. The iPad is the ideal computer for the computer illiterate. For example, my GF's grandparents were given an iPad for Christmas. They had not previously owned/used a computer or accessed the internet. For their purposes, the iPad is ideal. My GF set it up for them, and showed them the basics on how to use it. They are getting a good amount of use out of it, and they still don't need to know diddly about computers. So even without having a computer they need to understand, and have the ability to mess up, they can get into email, use the web, and use all manner of handy apps which make their lives easier.

You're crossing your mythologies here. Gaea is Greek.

Thor's mom was Fjorgyn (basically the Norse earth goddess, so you are close).

I would posit Silence of the Lambs for this simply because the characters were much better fleshed out by the great actors in that movie than by the hack writer of the novel.

It can be observed that Hopkins did just a great job with the Lecter character that Harris pretty much revised the character for Hannibal to follow the Hopkins version rather than what he had been in previous novels

Having owned most models of iPhones since they were available, this isn't quite true. With the iPad 2, the only thing you can't do on an iPad that you can do on an iPhone is make phone calls, and with Skype even that isn't completely true. The original iPad lacked the cameras, which really was the main difference.
