Quote:Nothing whatsoever. However, in most communities (at least in the ones I moderated) frivolous reporting has its own penalty. In the end, people will usually hit the report button for one of a two reasons:With your statement whats to stop people from reporting others who said before in the post someone who said peanutbutter and jelly?
* They feel offended by something. (Whether this offense is intended or warranted isn't a factor.)
* They think that someone else WOULD be offended (and they choose to be a busy-body)
If a moderator reads a report and sees that something COULD be misunderstood and thinks you should be more careful he's probably going to warn you to be more careful and then move on down his list. If he sees that someone is reporting something frivolous and has just wasted his time, he should warn the person who made the report instead. Sometimes he might actually do both. -
Quote:I don't think it is that NCSoft is saying it is okay to be offended by gays. I think they are seeing that someone thought that your statement was somehow meant TO BE offensive. Someone reported what you said to them because that person thought YOU were belittling either God or gays. The two things I'm worried about is one: This is on my record...or how ever offenses work. How many am I allowed to get before they delete my account? I've gotten one before already.
And two: NCsoft approves that it's okay to be offended by gays. Why is it okay to have super heroes run around in bikinis but not say the word gay?
It is an on-going struggle in online communities. People being offended by statements that have nothing to do with them. People being offended 'on behalf' of a group they don't actually belong to. Watchdogs who blow their whistle at the first sign of perceived intolerance (or ironically... Bohemia).
I would not worry about it. -
Back in the spring I had someone give one of my toons 100K inf just for explaining how to bind a costume change. It doubled what I had on that toon. You didn't hear me complaining. It's all a matter of perspective.

Quote:My lovely emp healer Delicious Jailbait was on Miuramir's team and was also popped out into the great beyond when the zone timed out. She fell for a bit but activated hover and then flew over to heal Miur (I think) who had low health when Dj appeared.Several of us were kicked back well outside the map of Steel when the WL zone timed out. My location: 2468.2 -2000.0 1500.3. /bugged in-game for extra info if needed; I don't believe I moved (well, other than falling at first).
Enjoyed the event. Noted that presents appear in fixed locations and managed to get a set route between two that had them appearing fairly consistently at each end of the trip. Ended up with 48 candy canes between downing 2 LW and getting a few presents.
Wasn't sure how to leave the WL Zone other than to go to another WL Zone which is why I was still in it when the zone timed.
Haven't tried the BNY stuff yet. -
Quote:To which BaBs says:If they do underwater, perhaps a Lord of Atlantis pack. Everyone who wants to see Namor and Aquaman fight raise your hand?
Quote:I'm going to kill everyone's pony and say that as long as I am on this project, it will never happen. They will have to replace me with a gibbering idiot to get the okay to move forward with animation and VFX needed to support 'underwater' zones.
And then it will take years and ultimately look stupid.
P.S. Aquaman is lame! -
I'd put money on Mutants. I know Sapphire will go nuts if they include some more animal heads/tails/feet and the like and that seems like a pretty common request.
You know Cryo.. the tentacle thing is interesting. Wouldn't it be fun if you could duplicate the transformation that is happening to the Lost? Make a toon whose back-story was that he was one of the Lost who was changing and he was 'rescued' but not cured... perhaps because something about him prevent the Lost Cure to work but he has powers in addition to being halfway between Rikti and Human? -
I always struggle to play villains in games, so I have a dozen bluesiders and recently created a mm with the express design to bring her over to blue when I can.
I will have to try the switch though, so I figure that my character Shadowscaster might find her frustrating quest to go home leading her into less heroic paths.
I can't see any of the other toons I regularly play going completely over to the other side. -

and here I was wondering what cool little extra I could get for my son since his birthday is a couple weeks away... His main character is a steampunk ninja named Steam Shinobi.
Well, I have my answer don't I?

Quote:Anyone test what that looks like with sword out? Or sword and shield? I just watched the video and at least one of my characters NEEDS the ninja run power very badly!!Top speed for Ninja Run on my lvl 50 toon with only Swift not slotted for running is 39.38 MPH. Jumping Speed is 33.93 MPH and Max Jump Height is 31.80 feet. End use seems negligable or about what Sprint costs. Three slotting Hurdle is still gonna be faster but Ninja Run wins hands down for style. The forward running animation is with one arm forward bent at the elbow with the other hand trailing behind but the animation when running backwards does have the two hands trailing behind anime style run and is the best part of this totally wonderful booster pack, imho. Great job to all the Devs who worked on this!

Quote:Can someone please enable Bright's underpants?!Oh come ON!!!!
I bought it right away because of my OCD on this booster system. And then I went to check out the costume pieces.
The first thing I noticed where the boots and I was like "Boy, these would look GREAT under Flared Pants as an alternative to the crappy Sneakers we have in-game right now!"
Then I go to actually check that hypothesis, and guess what!
We're not allowed to have 'em under pants!!!
COME ON!!!!!
Please, guys! Please please please please please, can we PLEASE have them enabled under pants as well?! -
-
Looking forward to checking this out when I get home. Does the ninja run make you do the lean forward run with arms behind you anime style run?
-
Quote:It's not available until lvl 4. Says so right in the announcement.I can right now, that on my lvl 1 stalker, the ninja run power was greyed out. Thought all the features were supposed to be available at lvl 1 on all toons on the account?
Edit: Leveled up to lvl 2, and still greyed out.
Quote:
Ninja Run power:
Dash through the city with the agility of a ninja! The Ninja Run power is a travel power enabled through the purchase of Super Booster IV: Martial Arts and is available for use at level 4. Use Ninja Run to strike fear in the hearts of your enemies as you increase your run speed and leaping abilities, and the best part? It doesn't use one of your power selections!

I've only ever had 2 ++ comments, but it was nice to read them. I always sign my comments and it seems a drag that now when I make a comment the person will likely not see it.
[edit]although in both cases, the ++ was because they liked my Master Roshi cosplay in my avatar rather than a ++ for some great comment I made. So clearly it's just that I want to hear more about me me me! -
I used to dread visiting Wentworths because it was pretty much a guaranteed disconnect. Interestingly enough, the problem went away after I scrubbed my drive and re-installed my OS. Getting rid of all the other junk that was loading into memory made a big difference in the general performance of the game and reduced the number of game crashes for a time.
Then i16 came out and my PC began randomly rebooting in the middle of missions or just standing idly talking in AP. Even a new dual-core pc with more memory hasn't fixed that one. -

Add a worthless power and destroy the servers. good job. i see my 30 bucks was well spent this month
Quote:While I cannot say definitely that the previous patch's server stability issues were not caused by the new Walk toggle, I can't conceive of any possible way that they could have been...and I would think that if they had, someone would have mentioned it to me.
I know that will get glossed over and 6 months from now someone here on the forums will make a statement like "Remember back when walk was crashing the mapservers" and someone else will say "Oh yeah, I remember that" and I will drop my face into my palm and die a little bit more inside. -
Not necessarily a new custom weapon so much as a different orientation.
Death the Kid from the Soul Eater anime holds his pistols upside down and uses his pinky to pull the trigger. It is an interesting detail of his character design but makes for a very unique look.
and I love the bare hand finger pointing suggestion. But I think that would really need to wait until we had a laser/ray gun style power.
Invisible rayguns! pew! pew! pew! -
Quote:This. Yes. I've thought more than once that my character should be using that run when he or she was high-tailing it out of there with a pulsing red health bar.
I'd also like the run like a chicken sprint that civilians do when they meet a hostile critter. Not all of my villains (and even a couple of my heroes) are brave. -
The funny thing is. The "enough with the special events disrupting me life' attitude isn't just an in-game thing. I have more than a few friends who complain just about any time something pops up on the calendar that conflicts with what they normally do. To the point where they will be complaining in early Dec about Christmas and "just wish it was over already."
*shrug*
Right now, when I'm on I am either farming ToT doors with my scrapper since she has such an easy time of it or I am out GM hunting with my medic collecting more merits. All my toons have their Hallowe'en badges and free slot but I have no problem helping those who are still trying to get there. If an event starts I join the teams and do what I can to help out.
Looking forward to Christmas both in and out of game. -

Quote:Mine was about 28mb. Not sure how many patches I've missed either.Mine was 21.1 MB, but I know I missed at least 1 patch before this, possibly the last 2.

A separate note to anyone who feels there is something wrong with BaBs giving us the Walk animation... Give your head a shake! It's funny. I used to Mod a forum for a game and every time the devs uploaded a new piece of clothing for the player avatars someone would complain that it was time taken away from fixing gameplay bugs. No matter how often we tried to explain that the coders working on gameplay didn't have anything to do with the graphic designers creating and uploading their work some players just couldn't/wouldn't get it.
BaBs, THANK YOU for the walk power. Whether I use it once or a thousand times, I am glad to see it added. You know, I used to make one of my toons follow the Longbow patrols as they walk around and it always bugged me that he walked too fast to look good following them. Problem solved!
[Edit] Woah, Accidental FPARN! 'cause that's how Master Roshi rolls. -
Quote:No. I can't agree with that. I play in a band, I write songs for that band. My songs are not messages that are "always very important." Does it mean that songwriting is not art or just when I write a song where the words and the melody don't convey some deeper comment on the human condition? There is a difference between 'art' and 'good art.'Well see, the difference is that in a song, or a painting or a movie, art is used to convey a message of some kind; often personal, sometimes politcial, but always very important. At least to the person who made it.
My poetry is a different beast. Every poem comes with some personal emotional payload. Does that difference negate my songwriting?
Do you seriously think that what BaBs does is 'science?' Do you see no beauty in the movement of the toons and npcs? Isn't BaBs trying to create something wonderous? Isn't that ART?! Doesn't the very idea of a game which essentially revolves around a theme of good vs. evil speak to the some degree about the human condition?
Have you never looked at the game and felt a surge of emotion? Felt sadness or happiness change in you based on something within it? (and I'm not talking about being angry at a client crash or some other flaw.) Have you never been moved by it? I have. It counts as art to me for that reason alone. -
It took me 3 events to get all 5 badges and the accolade. I saw a couple different strats come into play last night.
One was the everyone rush to a banner and go nuts.
Another was fight to bring down the shields then go clockwise from banner X.
In some cases teams stayed together when it was clear that there were other full teams focuses on a banner while others split 2 to each banner.
I got 2 badges in the first event plus GM then 1 badge in the 2nd and the remaining badge plus accolade on the 3rd (while I was crashing out, so I didn't get the power choice or actually see the accolade awarded)
looking forward to doing it all again on the next character tonight. -
