Hmmm cephalopod of debt
I can bring Negative Par-sec, not sure how much use he'll be ( only be lvl 20 ) against the evil critter ,but I can try -
Though they can scrap ,I think they do require a very controlled environment and good team communication. All it takes is a mob to get aggroed before the stalker is ready and SPLAT.
They are not helped by the reactionary changes players and devs suggest/make.. Personaly I think stalkers should be able to ghost a mission with ease.. To make things tricky all you need is a few enemies with +per..None of this stealth suppression mularky :P
Though they are easy to solo I think that perhaps they are one of the toughest ATs to integrate into a team..Without ending up with the standard Team of villains +1 stalker..somewhere,we're not sure.No ones seen him/her -
In pvp I like to be able to talk with the other players, I think the banter between villains and heroes is an important part of the game.
I find the pvp zones boring and a waste of time if there is no possibility of polite interaction, in those situations we might as well all be playing a single player game.
I avoid RV now because of the grief you can get from PLAYING THE GAME...Im not just talking about verbal insults, but the combined actions of allied hero and villain groups who are "working" the turrets together, and systematcly take out anyone who is not part of their SG or VG.. -
I was talking with regards to individual defenders not power sets. Even so it does not change the fact that being a healer is NOT bad.
Yes it is a pain when people assume that all defenders are healers ,especialy when you are blatantly not (us poor TA/A defenders for example).. But to then turn around and say that "defenders are not healers" is just as wrong. -
I still do not see what is bad about being a healer.
At low lvls all an empath/random can do is provide healing and a bit of fire support.
As long as they are having fun, and the team is having fun who cares?
Certainly ALL defenders are not "healers" , but its kinda silly to get irrate because SOME defenders are.
Its not the fault of the players, it is the fault of the MMO industry. To much of it based around trying to be generic, even to the extent of using phrases and terminology from other games
Numbers of active Empaths dropped recently, and Im betting a lot of it was due to the "Defenders not healers we l337 debuffers!!!!111!!" attitude that seemed to become prevalent.
Healers and Buffers/Debuffers are all valuable members of a team..And all are welcome in any team I form/play in.
In the end we use the powers we have, and try to have fun and keep our team alive, it does not matter if we use healing, buffs or debuffs. In the end we are defenders and im pretty sure we'd throw our kindeys or dance naked at the enemy if it would help our team -
If it was frosty I would understand the need for more healers
But Atta is just a big green baby :P
I say frosty, mainly as a lot of melee builds can be really poor at low lvls (my spines/dark scrapper I refused to team 'till he got to lvl 10, and some tanks can really suck).
Its a common symptom of the game genre though, everything seems to have a healer type thrown in and it is often expected... I was on a good set of frosty missions today with my empath, and people said how good my healing was..But from my point of view I could of left my cat in charge of my chatacter, as I was pre buff powers all I could do was healing aura and heal other...Two buttons over..and over..and over again.
To be fair being a "healer" is not a bad thing, neither is it a bad thing to want in a team, would you rather have a "healer" or try to rely on a debuffer defender that you picked up in a PuG ?
Who may or may not know how to play a debuffer.. -
The ability of MMs in pvp does depend on the lvl they are playing at.
In SC I can take out Most MMs fairly quickly, with only the odd one or two being overly tricky. And thats with my sonic/em blaster. Robot MMs tend to pose the greatest diff when I am solo.
--
Though MMS can solo, I think they do work much better in a triad/quad, often with a stalker or cloaked brute in proper bodyguard mode and maybe a handy corr/dom.
Though I do have to say, if you have a stealthed bodyguard and you happen to play a bubble MM..Dont bubble them!! Its like painting a huge neon sign over their head and just asking the enemy to pop their yellows/hit tactics/CM before attacking. Or in my case abort the attack -

and having to rely on extra powerpool powers to be effective is just a weakness in my opinion.

Erm excuse me? Masterminds are the most self-sufficient PVP archetype out there. Only problem is movement, which may require something like group teleport if you want to keep up with all the Superjumping teammates (note that you dont have to).
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree, but a lot of MMS I have met have started taken extra power pools to "survive" in the pvp environment (not counting travel pools)...Though to be fair this does mainly seem to be the "stand back anc watch" variety of MMs. -
Yeah last night was another good night too, a good natured group of villains and in fairly good numbers too....I left after my second bounty fill up as I had to rebuild my VGs base..which was dull.
-
Im still not sure about masterminds in pvp. I find them to be a bit "clunky", with only a few types being any use in pvp at all That I have seen), and having to rely on extra powerpool powers to be effective is just a weakness in my opinion.
Without our pets we dont last long, and even with BG mode up it only takes a KB attack/portal drop and we're out of range/dead. -
The only down point to tonight was when two brutes got angry when one got debt when I defeated him, it was the typical scenario of:
Villains outside base+random Mobs+Blaster=debt.
I then made the mistake of trying to be civil and explain that it was not deliberate, but by that point the villains had resorted to threatening to cause us deliberate debt through assorted means
To make matters worse, just when I though things had settled down, we were in a brawl which resulted in them getting droned (seriously some of the drones need to go!)
Up till then it had been fun, two brutes Vs a scrapper and my blaster, so lots of bloody brawls wibbly brute terror stuff and dead squishies
Anyhow, I hope you guys did not take it to heart, in pvp I try not to cause people debt at all but it does happen to others and to me. Hel I often go on mob clearence to make things safer for others (all those times where I am hovering around a mass battle, are usualy when I am looking for a bounty or on mob patrol).
Despite the little bit of trouble it was still a fun night, and fighting the two villains was a nice change in pace -
Sirens call(defiant server) has been quite good these past few nights, had some fantastic brawls with villains and there has been allmost no "issues" , been a good amount of common sense and good manners around too. With people changing alts to keep things interesting/sides balanced, and even moving battles away from mob infested areas
ANBU have been throwing in some quite interesting villains to keep us heroes on our toes, though Im begining to suspect they live in SC :P
Tonight was dead in SC thoughwith only a max of 6 people in there while I was on (Thats both sides), so in the end most of us settled down to doing hotspots.
So thanks all
Spurr. -
Mosty I assume that current real world events are not happening in the CoX world, mainly as they would happen totaly differently or not at all due to the presence of magic and superpowers and super technology.
I accept game history to be the same(mostly) as real world history up to the 1890s..Then you get the heroes appearing in the 1920s(?) which is a good point to assume things diverge grossly from real world events. -

Hero side has a lot more varoty than villain side, every jokers got a stalker and if im honest I have played the AT to death and they no longer interest me, theres nothing more to be done with them.
A telling difference between good stalkers and the many many wannabees who claim pvp godhood is simply who stays the moment an empath comes into the zone, 70% of the stalkers in SC will clear out in the 1st 5 mins. A stalker which relies on purely hide+stealth and AS isnt much of a pvper imo.
In the last few days there seems to be a tank renaissance in SC as they have outnumbered all other alts and there havent been many scrappers on at all.
It all comes down to the fact that we see varied ATs on the hero side far more than the villain side which is nigh on always 80% stalkers
[/ QUOTE ]
I got bored of my stalker, it was fun for a while I liked going after defenders mostly as they seemed to be the toughest targets for me to take down (they usualy have companions, and all kind of wibbly defender stuff leaking out of them :P).
But then I think part of my boredom was that a lot of teams dont work well with stalkers, and often have little patience for stalker tactics unless its a team of stalkers
Hell just getting a team to use its brain can be tricky :P -
Tricky one, if it was a non-roleplayer we randomly picked up into our group, then they would of been told that we are all rping (It happens quite a bit, and most people dont seem to mind...And its allways fun watching the vile taint of rp slowley infect them
).
Usualy I try to make sure any team I join knows if I am rping..But if for some reaon I had not told them then I would go for "B".
Things I dont touch ingame....To be honest anything that does not add to the scene. Id not describe a torture scene, instead Id describe the aftermath ( "Character X walks from the room, his face splattered with blood and a cold smile on his face").
In the end less is more -
Hihi and welcome
One bit of advice, if rping with people make sure they knowI was in some confusing teams this week where I was never to sure if we were rping or not .

Question: when upgrading thep lot is it a straight swap of plots, or does the nwe plot get added to your exising plot?

Imo they should release a new boxed expansion of COH anyway, simply because the coh package is horribly outdated and requires a day's download of patches to get up-to-date and running. If you buy COV at the same time you get much less downloading to do.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh yes!
Im suprised they have not run intolegal trouble with regards to the out of date spec requirements on the boxes, and people do like to play the game on the same day they buy it...
My local branch of Game(I think its game..the purple one) even took it off their shelves as they felt it was misleading to their customers. -
Bases are pointless, there is no need to have them once you get travel powers. So by not having access to them you are not missing anything.
((Though Freedom Flights micro-base is looking quite sexy, would look better if plot upgrades were not so pricey))

Then most sonics I know must be just unlucky then as the general concensus seems to be that sonics cant hit for "expletive"..

Heratic!!
You speak vile lies, for all know the masses are allways right!
I shall no resort to the most potent defence against heratics..Lalalalalalalalalalala I cant hear you lalalalalalalalala :P -
Really?

Screach is a must have, once you get over the base inaccuracy of sonics its a greatpower.
Dire wail: It has grown on me, mainly as I can click conserve energy, amplify, build up, and then jump into a huge mob and watch them all die..Or stagger around like drunks with most their health gone
Then pop a few blues and finish off any stragglers..but then Im a sonic/energy.
Howl sucks, I got rid of it early on as it was useless and I prefered shockwave.
Shockwave: Great when solo, though it can annoy the tank in your team if used without care :P
Its one of my emergency buttons, if enemy are getting to close and out number me "woooosh" knock them all back.
Sirens song: Nice in solo, but is one of those powers that needs the right situation to occur when playing with a team (ambushes usualy). -
SC does see a lot of em around, though Id say there are more corrupters thans stalkers...Lots and lots of em,with their evil Ice and kinetics :P
That said, Id rather be on a team with a good mix of the ranged type over a team of scrappers..Though the odd scrapper or tank can be good to make people ignore me -
Heres one:
There I was teleporting around with my blaster looking for a villain to cover with my entrails (this was when Spurr my blaster was only lvl 23ish), when I saw a pumkin..I landed next to it confused as to why it was conning as a brute.
"Hmm " thinks I, "do they get plant brutes?"
Then SPLAT, the pumkin turns back to being a brute and it kills me.
IT made me laugh
But then Im a blaster at heart and you have to a bit twisted to enjoy them
