Base and Vault salvage is only useful if you can find what you need easily. I craft in the base since it's easiest for me. I have 10 bins of base salvage which are grouped sort of alphabetically. Ie, bin 1 is salvage A-B, bin 2 is C-D, bin 3 is E-H, etc... The vault is rare salvage (2+ mill) only. To make sure that I have enough diversity, I try to keep a max of 5 of each salvage, so I don't have a bin with just 20 silvers.
After each mission, I dump salvage here and sell the extras on the market. If salvage prices on the market are weird, I'd rather not feed the price fixers so I go to AE and roll salvage. I usually get what I need in 10 tries and then I store or sell the rest. -
There also seems to be a bid lag for bids that aren't the highest bid. It seems to me that I purchase the item real fast if I bid really hi, but if I creep bid, it takes a while, esp for salvage. For example, if there's 4000 for sale and 2000 bidding with the highest bid in history at 50000, I make bids for 100, 333, 555, 1111 and 11111. The bids don't turn into purchases right away. I go to the uni to craft, and after I craft 1 item, I get the notice that I purchased them all, even the bid for 100. Based on this, I'm guessing that it's fastest for the bidding algorithm to match against the highest bid and lowest sell price cuz it's just 1 compare. However, to match bids in the middle takes time.

When I see weird prices like these, I'm pretty sure someone's trying to jack up the prices. In that case, I'd rather not feed their schemes and I just roll salvage in AE. A. Silver is a suprisingly common roll. For example:

My guess is that these price fixers are returning players before emailing inf was introduced and they're just doing what they did before with their lowbies -
Thanks all for the feedback! I'll look at the corr guides too, and I don't mind playing a particular power set especially if it helps the team. I've been on a few ITFs where the leader saves a spot for a rad corr specifically or a corr with shield buffs. Same with RSF where the leader won't start until he has the corrs he wanted.

Quote:Profit from above is 1.85 mil. However, Triage 30 or Karma 30 can cost as little as 100k to craft. Sold for 2 mil, that's 1.9 mil profit. Sold for 3 mil, that's 2.9 mil profit. Sometimes, can sell for 4 mil, which is 3.9 mil profit. Basically, some recipes don't need rare salvage (65% of crafting cost) and are just as profitable. Triage and Karma are from bronze 10-30 rolls. Also note that price of rare salvage is rising, up to 4 mil for some. In that case, selling for 5 mill is basically just giving it away. Here's how I have been figuring cost:
2 million per piece of rare salvage
50000 per piece of non rare salvage
500000 to craft the recipe
500000 to list the shiny.
So that's 3,150,000 per recipe.
So if I can sell it for at least 5 million I can make a little profit. -
Hi All,
I like playing support and was wondering what pri/secondaries would be useful for ITF and villain SFs (from cap SF to LRSF). I don't like hero side much, so not likely to do TFs there.
So, if you were team leader and you can pick any type of corr you want, what would you pick and why?
For example, ITF:
-pri x/second y for debuff AV
-pri n/second m for cyst mission
... etc
Thanks! -
Powersets - Elec Melee/Shield/Soul Mastery
Build Focus - Common IO/SO
Inspirations? - Yes
Farm ID - 449129 (freaks)
Time - Unfinished 40%
Infamy/min - 43624
Almost about the same as Rikti, but a little better since freaks are easier to herd and bunch up. The Rikti tends to spread out. -
I understand that build x is better for enemies y, but I'd like to at least get a basic idea of performance using Robot's AE tests as a baseline. That's why I'm very interested in getting data. (I'm also a nerd, but that's beside the point...)
If I had the data, I'd analyze it to the bone. Once way is to plot it based on build slotting: (pardon ascii art)
Common IO/SO
Build 1 **|***|***|***|**_|___|
Build 2 **|***|***|***|___|___|
Build 3 **|***|***|***|***|*__|
__________5__10__15__20__25__30 mins
1 billion or less
Build 1 **|***|***|***|___|___|
Build 2 **|***|***|*__|___|___|
Build 3 **|***|***|___|___|___|
__________5__10__15__20__25__30 mins
purple sets/ 1+ billion
Build 1 **|***|***|___|___|___|
Build 2 **|***|***|___|___|___|
Build 3 **|***|___|___|___|___|
__________5__10__15__20__25__30 mins
What can I see from these plots? In the common IO category, Build 2 performs the best at 20 mins with common IOs. However, in the 1 billion category, Build 3 breezes thru at 15 mins after getting some loving.
In the purple/1+ billion category, Build 1 and 2 are neck and neck at 15 mins which suggests that Build 1 and 2 perform the same after heavy investment while Build 3 could be pushed a little bit more to finish at a fast 10 mins.
A comparison of Build 2 for 1 billion vs Purple reveals that there is just a slight improvement when Build 2 is upgraded to purples. Because of this, whoever has a brute of Build 2 would have to really think hard whether to pour a lot of money for just a 1.5 minute gain.
It is easier to say 'build x is good for enemies y' but I'd like to know how good. So I'm willing to do the work to gather and analyze the data so that everyone could use it.
I think this sort of data would be useful to have so folks can understand the limitations of their brutes. However, I need the data first... So calling all brutes! Please farm these tests! Thanks in advance!
BTW, Fiery-Enforcer, what slotting category is your brute? I'm guessing that it's purple/1 billion +, but I just want to make sure. Thanks! -
Quote:My IOd build only has 32%. I prolly should start looking at recharge since waiting for Lightning Rod and Shield Charge to recharge was killing me during the farms.Anyhow, my Brute is:
Electric / Fire Aura / Mu, 1+ billion build
Recharge Bonus: 60% (not counting hasten)
I can manage to farm with it, just not that fast. At least, it's ok enough so that I can work it to save for better sets, and until my other brutes are leveled to 50. I have an electric/electric and a SS/stone in the works.
Anyway, whatever you invested in it seems to be paying off given your finish times. I have a long way to go... =_= -
Powersets - Elec Melee/Shield/Soul Mastery
Build Focus - Common IO/SO
Inspirations? - Yes
Farm ID - 449127 (rikti)
Time Completed - Unfinished, 30% of map only
Inspirations? - Yes
Infamy/min - 41784
In case I don't finish the map, I recorded my start and end infamy, then divide it by the number of minutes to gauge my kill rate.
I'll do the freak tomorrow since the coalies want to team.
Since I didn't finish the other farms with my IOd build, I'll do them again to measure infamy/min. -
As promised, here are my results in the 1 billion or less category, +2x8:
Powersets - Elec Melee/Shield/Soul Mastery
Build Focus - Defense/HP
Inspirations? - Yes
Farm ID - 449116 (Nemesis Farm)
Time Completed - Unfinished, 30% of map only
Farm ID - 449127 (rikti)
Time Completed - Unfinished, 50% of map only
Inspirations? - Yes
Farm ID - 449129 (freak)
Time Completed - Unfinished, 80% of map only
Sadly, I wasn't able to finish any of the maps within the time limit. So I'm posting how much of it I finished. Some observations:
- Nemesis is suicide for this build. I asked a SS/Shield why he picked SS over elec melee, and he said Electric doesn't kill fast enough. I have to agree. There's not enough single target damage, so when the venge activates, it's a lot harder to kill.
- The Rikti were not that hard to fight, but a lot of them were ranged, so they were outside my AOEs, especially those healer types. Grrrr... They were also tuff to herd. But I laugh when their psi just rolls off me. Not a single stun.
Anyway, I'd prefer some data over something like:
- my xxx just destroys bleh
- xxx is more survivable, nothing can touch it
I think the only thing I'd tweak for the tests is to make the common IO/SO build difficulty to +0x8. The map is big enough, so the challenge for this build would be to try to finish it. Thanks for setting it up Robot!
The 1 bill vs very expensive/purple IOs would be an interesting comparison to have because it will show how much of a performance difference there is. Unfortunately, I am too poor to even buy purples, so I don't have any purpled brutes.
I'll do another run tomorrow. Anyway, I hope folks will do better than me, so dust off your favorite brute and show your stuff. To me, it was fun to do the tests and since I planned to farm anyway, why not take the challenge as well? -
Robot, I think your AE tests would cover more ground than my proposal. I agree that mine has limited coverage, but I at least wanted to start somewhere since I haven't seen any real numbers about a certain build's performance.
These tests take time, so if we can nail down the format to get results that will help us measure performance, then I'm all for tweaking the test parameters.
If you don't plan to, I'd be happy to gather any data that anyone posts and organize it. I'll try the AE tonight with my elec/Shield and post my results.
EDIT: pardon my newbie question. How do I turn off Bosses? -
Interesting thread and first thing that I saw since it was stickied.
Anyway, for the sake of analysis, I reorganized the melee sets by armor. If it has ( ? ), nobody suggested to pair that melee set with the armor.
-Super Strength/Fiery Aura
-Fire Melee/Fiery Aura
-Electric Melee/Fiery Aura
-Dark Melee/Fiery Aura
-Stone Melee/Fiery aura
-Claws/Fiery Aura
-Super Strength/Invulnerability
-Fire Melee/Invulnerability
-Electric Melee/Invulnerability
( Dark Melee ? )
-Stone Melee/Invulnerability
-Claws/Invulnerability
-Super Strength/Electric Armor
-Fire Melee/Electric Armor
-Electric Melee/Electric Armor
( Dark Melee ? )
-Stone Melee/Electric Armor
-Claws/Electric Armor
-Super Strength/Shield Defense
-Fire Melee/Shield Defense
-Electric Melee/Shield Defense
( Dark Melee ? )
( Stone Melee ? )
( Claws ? )
-Super Strength/Willpower
-Fire Melee/Willpower
-Electric Melee/Willpower
( Dark Melee ? )
-Stone Melee/Willpower
-Claws/Willpower
-Super Strength/Dark Armor
-Fire Melee/Dark Armor
-Electric Melee/Dark Armor
( Dark Melee ? )
-Stone Melee/Dark Armor
-Claws/Dark Armor
As you can see, with the exception of Shield, most of the armors mentioned were suggested to be paired with the 6 melee sets. Based on the above, Fiery Aura seems to be the most paired of all.
I'd like to propose a test, since I doubt that I'd be able to test these all myself. For the following categories, please post your build and your finish time.
[ EDIT: TV Lib kill all might take too long just for a test, so I propose an infamy per minute version:
Infamy test, 20 mins
1. Record starting infamy
2. Set alarm to 20 mins
3. Record end infamy, # of deaths ( if any ;D )
Peddler Category: +0 x 8 Nemesis TV Lib farm, Solo.
- for BRUTES with just common IOs or SOs.
Goal: Skip all mobs with glowies and kill fast for 20 mins
Broker Category: +2 x 8 Nemesis TV Lib farm, Solo.
- for BRUTES with builds that cost 1 billion or less to make.
Goal: Skip all mobs with glowies and kill fast for 20 mins
Tycoon Category: +2 x 8 Nemesis TV Lib farm, Solo.
- for BRUTES with very expensive builds or purple sets.
Goal: Skip all mobs with glowies and kill fast for 20 mins
[ end EDIT ]
Kill All Test:
Starter Category: +0 x 8 Nemesis TV Lib farm, Solo.
- for BRUTES with just common IOs or SOs.
Goal: Skip all mobs with glowies and kill everyone else.
Champion Category: +2 x 8 Nemesis TV Lib farm, Solo.
- for BRUTES with builds that cost 1 billion or less to make.
Goal: Skip all mobs with glowies and kill everyone else.
Ultimate Category: +2 x 8 Nemesis TV Lib farm, Solo.
- for BRUTES with very expensive builds or purple sets.
Goal: Skip all mobs with glowies and kill everyone else.
Why 3 categories? Because not everyone may have the infamy to spend on a purpled build. So, what build is good to start with without much investment? That's what the Starter Category is for.
If you would like to suggest a particular farm, please do so. I suggested Nemesis since there's a good chance that people have this farm and if you don't, you can ask someone to start it for you.
AE farms might not be available for all servers, and I haven't done a lot of AE to suggest a farm that will test a build.
If you would like to participate, please do the test in the applicable category and post your finish time. -
Pretty cool! Thanks much!

I don't have a SS/SD, but I have an electric/SD which cost about 600 Mil and 400 merits to make with lvl 40-50 sets. However, when I was leveling, it's performed decently with lv 20-35 crafted IOs (common or sets). At level 30ish, I frankenslotted and spent about 50k per slot with cheap recipes and common IOs. For reference, a lvl 30 damage IO is 30k for the recipe, 41k to craft and about 1k for salvage. I suggest you consider using crafted IOs instead of SOs. SOs need to be replaced and cost goes up per level.
The_Laughing_Man posted estimates on the cost of SOs. Here's a summary of his post:
Level 27: 45 Slots @ 36,000 Inf = 1,620,000 to fully slot out.
At level 32, you can buy level 35 Single Origin Enhancements. You will need 53 of them to fully slot your character. 53 Slots @ 42,000 Inf = 2,226,000
At level 37, you can buy level 40 Single Origin Enhancements. You will need 66 of them to fully slot your character.
66 Slots @ 48,000 Inf = 3,168,000
At level 42, you can buy level 45 Single Origin Enhancements. You will need 77 of them to fully slot your character.
77 Slots @ 54,000 Inf = 4,158,000
At level 47, you can buy level 50 Single Origin Enhancements. You will need 88 of them to fully slot your character.
88 Slots @ 60,000 Inf = 5,280,000
Total: 16,452,000
Assuming you buy SOs from the trainer, in the long run, SOs cost more due to the replacement cost. If you use crafted IOs, you don't need to worry about replacing them.
For travel, a cheap way without using up a power slot is to buy a jetpack. On villain side, you can buy it in Grandville near Recluse's statue for 10k. As long as you can get to Grandville, you can buy it even at lvl 1.
I also suggest making a corr with kinetics. As soon as you get speed boost, set your comment to: <your primary>/kin. This will cause farmers to send you tells asking you to kin for them. If it's an AE farm, a fast an easy way to make money is to exchange your tickets for rare salvage like Military Cybernetic or Conspiracy. Sell these for 2 mil each. The slow and patient way is to exchange your tickets for bronze recipes. Craft the recipe and sell them between 200k - 2 mil each. Note that 1 recipe costs about 70 tix while rare salvage costs 540 tix. 540 tix gets you about 7 recipes. If all 7 recipes are crafted and sold for 2 mil, your 540 tix made you a profit of 14 mil minus crafting and market fees. Or, like the previous poster said, check the guides on how to make money on the market.
Hope this helps! -
Hi All,
In some screenshots, I see this little box that shows:
Current Hit Points
Current Endurance
Infamy
Regeneration rate
I've been hunting through the options and can't seem to find the option to enable this box. Can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks! -
I recently bought an asus n71jq for $1150. If you have a costco membership, you can try it for a few months and return it if it doesn't meet your specs.
It's almost as fast as my desktop q6600 overclocked to 3.4 and runs cox in ultra mode. You may be able to find it cheaper than costco, but other places don't have costco's return policy. You can buy it from costco first, then return it if you like it and buy it cheap somewhere else. -
- when I'm playing a brute, teammates who use repel or knockback that scatter the enemies thus putting them out of range of my area effect attacks. What should've taken 2 attacks on a 10 enemy mob would take 6 attacks because they're not together anymore. Even if I re-taunt them, they scatter again.
- toons lvl 45 and below who want to join a speed ITF. Might as well run with a team of 6 than a team of 8 with 2 lowbies who die as soon as the shadow cyst explodes or at Rom since they don't have enough defense.
- teammates crying for SB and then complaining that they died since they didnt get SB. I don't mind buffing, just don't blame me if the build fails without SB.
- coalie members who ask me to PL in AE at diff +3 and then don't heal or buff me while I'm doing all the work.
- when the lead brute isn't built to survive the shadow cysts in a speed ITF. After he dies, the enemies go after me, the squishy kin, when I do fulcrum shift. After the 5th cyst, I would just buff, go invisible and watch him die. Then TP everyone to safe spot and give wakies. When I ran out of wakies, I couldn't stand to team with him anymore. -
I went for Siphon insight for defense bonus since I already have too many 5% bonus on recharge. remember, you can only have 5 instances of 5% recharge from your sets. If you add a 6th set with 5% recharge, then you hit the cap and don't get the 5% recharge. Before you slot DWD, count your 5% rech bonuses.
-
On Villain side, I suggest going to Cap and ask if anyone from Dark Kingdom or Shadow Souls is on in broadcast. Usually, there's someone from these VGs online. These VGs are pretty active and do SFs regularly.
-
On villain side, I recommend Dark Kingdom or Shadow Souls. These 2 VGs were the most helpful when I first started a few months ago.
Dark Kingdom is very active but requires you to play in SG mode. Shadow Souls doesn't have a strict SG mode requirement but has less members than DK. However, SS's leaders often run SFs and teams every day, so you wont be bored.
If you want to join, go to Cap and ask for someone from DK or SS in broadcast. There's usually someone out there who can invite you. I'm usually on evenings California time, so you can send me a tell at Voltez Y. -
As someone who started a base by myself, 70 mil is nothing. Consider the inf to prestige rate: 10 Million for 20,000 prestige
That means 70 mil is 140,000 prestige, which doesn't even cover the cost of the purchase of a basic generator:
Basic Generator 225000
Circuit Breaker 50,000
Add to that the telepads and other workshop items, a simple 8x8 base will cost around 800,000 prestige or converted to inf: 800000/20000 x 10 mil = 400 mil.
I hate to say this, but just build your own base. You get a prestige bonus of 20000 for the first 15 toons who join. That's a free 300k prestige. -
Not that I know of on Freedom. There's one in Virtue, headed by Mechallo called Voodoo Masters of Virtue. I have a couple of MMs in it.
Mechallo organizes teams for all MM ITFs and SFs.
Hope this helps. -
When I signed up this year, I joined several VGs to try them out. Here are my recommendations:
1) Dark Kingdom and its other sister VGs - very active, good group of people. If you like to PvP, there's quite a bit of members who do. I stay away from PvP since 9 yr olds can beat me in Super Mario bros.
2) Shadow Souls - awesome and well-organized base, but not very active itself. Its coalition is active.
3) Venu Sovereignity - Leader likes to run TFs. In coalition with Shadow Souls.
4) Trake Strikers - I may have spelt this one wrong because of the capital letters in between lower case. Anyway, cool base and the leader is very helpful.
Toons I play most: Kiyoshii, Zukoe, Voltez Y, Mekhannon.
If you still need a VG, just send me a tell and I'll sign you up.
See you in the game!
