  1. In my experience, when I compared 540 tix = 1 rare salv to 540 tix = 7 bronze recipes, I had more profit in crafting 7 bronze recipes since at least half of those sell for 2 - 4 mil. Assuming 4 crafted bronze sell at 3 mil each, that's 12 mill gross or about 10 mil profit.
I guess if you don't craft and don't want to use up market slots with low priced commons, exchanging for rares is fastest.
    9999/540 tix = 18 rares
    18 rares @ 1 mil = 18 mil, 18 mil/9720 = 1851/tix
    18 rares @ 1.5 mil = 27 mil, 27 mil/9720 = 2777/tix
  2. A friend got Raider Engineer during the Silver Mantis SF yesterday. His toon is a fairly new level 50 that he made during i17.

Nope. On Vill side, this is the Crucible in Cap. I do it all the time.
If you have GR, do tips. Cash in the A-merits for the recipes you want or recipes to sell. Roll for recipes if you like crafting. If not, Lotg7.5 and Kinetic Com triple recipes sell well and sell even more if crafted.

If you don't have GR, do Strike/Taskforces and convert merits to A-merits. For villain side SFs, you can do the following in about 1.5 hrs:
    Merits
    26...ITF - 30 mins
    42...Silver Mantis - 1 hr
    --
    68 total merits

If you don't mind boring, repetitive stuff, farm AE. Go for maps that max out tix (1000 - 1500) instead of xp that you can do within 5-10 mins. Roll recipes with the tix and craft. If you don't like crafting, then this isn't for you.

Agreed. I keep around 200 mil on my crafting toon and refill as needed. Toons that i don't play as much hold my reserves of 1 bil - 1.5 bil each.

I posted this on page 21 of the thread. 13 pages later, no response. Why? Possible reasons:
    1) Blue_Centurion has claimed to speed read thru walls of text, thus has missed a lot of content including my question. He didn't miss all of it, since he has made numerous replies to other people after my post on page 21.
    2) Blue_Centurion doesn't dare answer. He's asking the devs to nerf other players by restricting their sale prices at the market, but doesn't want the same nerf to apply to himself.

I am assuming reason #1. To make it easier to answer, I provide multiple choice:

Blue_centurion will part with Shield Wall: Teleportation Protection, +Res(All) IO for the price of:
    A) 0 infamy - such a nice guy!
    B) 100 mil
    c) 500 mil
    D) 2 bil
    E) 3 bil + $20 paid via Paypal - gotta milk it baby...
    F) Infinity. No amount of cash, in game or real will make Blue_centurion give it up

If your answer is (F) then you are not supplying the market. You are making the item rare by not adding to the supply. You have also put a big price tag and thus declared how valuable and precious it is.

For answers (D), (E) and (F): If you value it so much, then asking the devs to cap the value is shooting yourself in the foot.

No reply to this question: Probably speed reading again... -_(-_-)_-

You don't have to wait for folks to come to you. Just go to where the lowbies hang out, like Mercy, Port Oakes and Atlas. Look for vet badges. If you see none, offer to trade. I've done this many times and even taught a few folks about the basics of frankenslotting.

(It also gives me a chance to show off my VG's base when I teach the lowbie how to craft items. Sometimes, they even ask to join. No, really, I don't have an ulterior motive...)
  8. Roster so far:
    1) Voltez Y
    2) all_hell: TBA
    3) Party Demons
    4) Elemental-Mistress

    Maybe:
    LegacyX
    NN
    Hot Pearl

Huh? I like lowbie strikeforces, lvls 20-30. For that, I can make a 20-50 mil build and not die through the strikeforce. I enjoy the game very much even without it. I can even buy them if I really wanted to. But really, I don't need 2 bill IOs.

Please don't assume that you speak for everyone. Your post should read: (no corrections done for spelling etc...)
By greifer I mean someone trying to mak the game worse for Blue_Centurion.

If the griefer is making it worse for you, then don't buy from the griefer. It is possible to post what you want to buy in the forums and wait for someone to sell it to you at the price that you are willing to pay. Both of you do the trade in game, thus bypassing the market.

If people want to pay/sell more for something, they will find ways to do it even with caps. There is no reason to cap prices since salvage and recipes are available via AE, merit and alignment vendors.

I'd rather that the devs work on the Incarnate system and more content than trying to add caps on the market.

When crafted enhancements that I post don't sell, that clogs things up further.
I suggest making your own base and buying enhancement tables. 1 table holds 100 IOs.
1 table is enough for marketing while the other tables contain stuff to IO my toons with once they hit 50. The highest amount of IOs in the market table was around 60. On average, there's about 20 IOs ready to be sold. I craft around 10-20 a day.

Also note that the market isn't a store. It's a way for players to trade with each other. You aren't buying from the game, you are buying from another player. Why should the devs care about what other players charge?

Like Enya said, the devs have put the alignment reward system in place to make these rare recipes available. If you don't want to pay what the other player wants, then just earn it yourself. Cuz I can tell you right now, nobody who worked hard to acquire the rare will trade it to you for the paltry sum that you want to pay.

recipe, and 50 Mil common recipe, or some such. In this way the Devs can control the Market price
Who exactly is supplying the quantities of these items in the market? The game already supplies the stock in regular stores, merit, AE and Alignment vendors. You don't have to buy from the market.

If I had a super rare item that I would want to sell, I would want the most for it. If the market limits what I can get for it, say 500 mil, there is no reason for me to use the market. I will post in the forums or broadcast in game for my price. Infamy transfer will be via Trade or email. If I want to sell it for 2 bill, either pay my price or look for someone else willing to sell it for less.

Why in the world would I ask for so much? Say I got the rare recipe by exchanging alignment merits. That's a lot of work hunting for tips and doing the tips. I'd like to be compensated for my efforts, so I set the price for my work.

Players supply the market, not the devs. If folks can't sell it for what they want, they will not use the market. If players don't supply the market with rares, then you end up with 0 things to buy. The market is a middleman for other players in the game. That's who you're buying from and not the game itself. If you don't want to buy from other players, then get it from merits or Alignment vendors.

I have tried this trick and it works. It saves download time, bandwidth and patching time. It is also a good trick to use when your own copy gets corrupted somehow, and if you have a backup of the CoH directory saved, you can restore with the back up and just patch it.
Before you copy, exit out of the game so that any open files are closed properly.

  16. Let's imagine that the market didn't exist, but the invention system and sets are available. Hero A wants PVP IO x and broadcasts in game:

[Hero A]: wanted to trade, PVP IO x, pst

Since the PVP IO is super rare, it takes several days for a reply.

[Seller]: I got it. what will you trade?
[Hero A]: I'll give you a set of Oblits.
[Seller]: Sry, dude, I traded one last month for a Ragnorak set and 1 bil.
    [Hero A]: I'll add 2 Hecatombs.
[Seller]: Dude don't waste my time.
    [Hero A]: 3 Hecas and 200 mil.

    ...
    No reply from seller.

    [Hero A]: #$%@!
[Hero A]: wanted to trade, PVP IO x, pst

Whether the market exists or not, the prices are set by players themselves.
If one doesn't pvp or farm purples, the devs have created the alignment reward system and made a lot of rare ios available for direct purchase with A-merits, thus giving an alternative to buying from other players.

If one thinks that buying from the market or collecting A-merits is too much in order to get such-and-such IO, then one can submit a suggestion on the amount of effort one is willing to make to the devs in game or on the website.

Now assume that the infamy cap is 5 billion. Would rare IOs sell for more than 2 bill? My guess is yes. The infamy cap is actually limiting the price of rare IOs on the market. However, one can get around the limit and it is possible pay for a rare IO with more than 2 bill via multiple trades or gleemail.
  17. Wow... I didn't realize how much discussion this could generate. Anyway, I was running level 39 missions but some of my teammates aren't 39 but no one was over 39. I remember the enemies either running in place towards me or backwards. They were not getting tossed up or back. I ended up hitting a bit, moving again to get in range, then hitting again. There was a lot of running around to reach the scattered mob.
And yes, shame on me if the MM actually did turn off dispersion bubble as per my request. I don't think he did tho, since folks weren't dying. My guess is that he probably kept both dispersion and force bubbles on.

Force Bubble is the one that was doing the shoving, and i'm pretty confident the MM knew what you meant.
My bad... the name confused me. Disperse to me is to separate, so I though that was the bubble that scatters the mob. My brute is electric melee, so over half my attacks weren't very efficient since I ended up hitting single targets or fewer targets because the mob was scattered. It would be nice if the mob was pushed against a wall, but that didn't happen.

My team was running papers and I purposely pick offices and warehouses, so plenty of room to maneuver. If the mission is close to a river or the sea, chances are that it's a cave or a sewer, so I abandon it and pick another mission.

As far as I remember, I keep trying to run ahead, but after a hit or two, they're pushed away again. Bubble MMs have ranged attacks right? So there really is no reason for him to stand next to me. I guess it is also unreasonable to expect him to understand that I need the mob to surround me.

Unfortunately, it was such an annoying experience that I avoid inviting bubble MMs.
  19. Brute... must build fury... use damage aura for extra hurt...
Wait... why is the enemy moving away? Must run after.
Enemy is running backwards? Is this a bug? Dammit, out of my range again. WTH?
(Sudden burst of insight: there's an MM in the team who was dispersion bubble.)

I, Broot: <MM's name>, plz turn of dispersion bubble. The enemies are out of my damage aura and AOEs.
(Waits patiently for 5 mins. Enemies are still being pushed away.)

I, Broot: <MM's name>, can you do me a favor and turn of dispersion bubble? I need the enemies to surround me.
(Waits patiently for 5 mins. Enemies are still being pushed away. Mouse hovers near kick button...)

Am I asking for far too much? Should I have phrased my request more forcefully or not at all, just to let the MM play as he likes? I must admit that it irritated me enough that I wanted to kick the MM off the team.
  20. Due to Halloween, I postponed SF weekend. But here it is again! Strikeforce madness will be this weekend, 11/13, 11/14!

The first one, Renault's, will start at approximately 9 am pacific time or 12 pm eastern time. I am starting with Renault since completing the SF grants you a temp power which can be used in later SFs.

There will be a 5-10 minute break in between SFs. Budget around 1 hr for each SF. For trials, budget around 30 mins to 1 hr.

Please let me know which day and which SF you would like to join in so I can get a headcount. Other than ITF and RSF, I prefer to limit teams to 6.

My toon, Voltez Y, will be forming the teams.

    Start times listed are approximate.

    SF Lineup:
    Temple of the Waters SF:
    Level Range: 25-30
    Start time: 9 AM PST
Meet at Operative Renault who is near the Arbiter in the small Arachnos base in Shark.

The Beast Beneath the Mountain SF:
    Level Range: 15-20
    Start time: 10 AM PST

    Pirates of the Sky SF:
    Level Range: 20-25
    Start time: 11 AM PST

    The Crystal of Seraphina SF:
    Level Range: 35-40
    Start time: 12 noon PST

    Times Arrow SF: (ITF)
    Level Range: 35-50
    Start time: 1:30 PM PST

    Lord Recluse SF:
    Leverl Range: 45-50
    Start time: 2:30 PM PST

    Upon request:
    1st Respec Trial:
    Level Range: 24-33

    2nd Respec Trial:
    Level Range: 34-43

    3rd Respec Trial:
    Level Range: 44-50

    Sunday Mayhem Marathon:
On Sunday 11/14, around 6 PM PST, I will form teams to get the bank badges. If you have a toon that has the bank mission, please feel free to volunteer it. If the toon doesn't have the bank mission yet, the team will speed through the paper missions in order to get the bank.

    Bank Holders for Sunday Mayhem:
    Atlas Park 5 - 10 Global Threat ( None )
Kings Row 10 - 15 King Maker - Mia Maltester
Skyway City 15 - 20 Road Raged - Black Kallen
Steel Canyon 20 - 25 Steel Worker - Venus Hertz
Independence Port 25 - 30 Tyrannical - Kiyo Kara Moo
Talos Island 30 - 35 Talon of Talos - Agent Starlight
    Brickstown 35 - 40 Brickhouse - Radria
    Founders' Falls 40 - 45 Anarchist - General Iru
    Peregrine Island 45 - 50 Gate Crasher - Voltez Y

    Some useful Temp pwrs:
    1) Kinetic Dampener - toggle, 30 mins of use, increase def/res. Useful for trials.
    2) Hand grenade
    3) Stun grenade
    4) Plasmatic taser
    5) Envenomed dagger - great for debuffing AVs
    6) Recovery serum

Most DK bases have empowerment stations that can buff for 1 hr with some inf and salvage.
  21. I like the idea of the stuff being untradeable. This way, nobody can buy their way into incarnate. The toon has to play the game.
  22. When I decided to sign up for this game, I was on trial account and had a maximum limit of 50k infamy. My poverty didn't deter me from enjoying the game. If I have a billion, it's icing on the cake. Basically, you don't need a billion dollar F1 racer to drive to work. A $2000 used car can get you there.
I will agree that what I like in this game is prolly not the same as what other folks like. In general, I enjoy teams and strikeforces best. For those, I don't need 1 billion infamy.
  23. Interesting experiment Organica. Just a few notes:
Assuming Lotg7.5 sells for 140 mil:
    minus fee: 140 - 7 = 133
    minus crafting: 133 - 5 = 128
    minus merit convert fees: 128 - 40 = 88

    Lotg7.5 can be bought for 2 A-merits or 100 merits + 40 mil, so:
    88 mil/2 A-merits or 44 mil/1 A-merit.

Random rolls win over direct buy of Lotg7.5 if your net profit is over 44 mil a day.
With random rolls, your craft overhead is higher because you use 4x more salvage, which is dominated by 4 rares. 4 rare salvage adds between 4 mil to 8 mil in crafting cost.

11/8 marks your 5th day, so assuming 44 mil/day, you should have 220 mil in profit.

So far, the 2 Lotg7.5s that you rolled are keeping you comfortably ahead.
  24. I asked my friend Google and he found an example in less than 30 secs:
Nericus' Need for Speed Stone Armor Brute Guide v 1.5

War mace is about 75% down the page. It has an expensive build and omg I need purples? build.

    Enjoy!
  25. I think so. Just ask the target to look under Powers->Combat attributes->Recharge and check the bonus.
