Merits/points/tickets???

I just hit 50, paid attention to most of the Story Arcs, but sadly this was prior to the implementation of Reward Merits so missed out on a bunch. I am trying to work on getting all my powers IO setted out and want to know what is the best way to farm for these. Should I be running task forces? Architect Missions? Story Arcs? Tip Missions? Running random crap and just using the influence in the AH? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated as I can only play a few hours a week and want to make the most of my time. Thanks!

The prevailing wisdom seems to be: run tip missions and gather alignment merits. Use the A-merits to buy a recipe that sells for a lot. (ie, Luck of the Gambler Global Recharge). Craft and sell the IO. Use the funds to buy your preferred IO sets. Lather, rinse, repeat.

actually, reward merits came about in i13. not quite sure how you missed them, but the best way is to convert 50 reward merits and 20 mil in infl into a-merits and take the random roll to get 5 recipes. or save the a-merits and spend a few at a time and get specific recipes and sell them to make gobs of infl and get what you want.

If you can't run morality missions (because you don't have GR), you can still get A-Merits by trading in 50 Reward Merits and 20 million Inf. In most, if not all cases, this is a better deal than using R-Meritss to buy the item.

And if you do have GR, you can use both methods of earning A-Merits to speed things up even more.

A-Merits are the way to go, but I go a different route than Roderick.

I don't use (waste) A-merits on a single recipe, that's what I use reward merits for.

Take any A-merits you get and do a "Random Rare Recipe Roll". You'll get 5 rare recipes. I haven't found a random roll yet that didn't have some gold in it. I did a random roll a couple days ago and got two (2) Numina's +regen +recovery in the same roll. The random roll option will go a long way to help snag the expensive recipes you are having trouble buying or at least will help finance your build.

For individual recipes that I'm having trouble getting with rolls or hard to obtain at WW, I use Reward Merits. If task forces are not fitting into your schedule, you can go to Ourobous and do story arcs and each arc is getting you reward merits.

When I am not doing task forces, I use ParagonWiki when going after reward merits in Ourobous.

I thought you needed GR to even get into the base where you can trade them in.

Nope. On Vill side, this is the Crucible in Cap. I do it all the time.
If you have GR, do tips. Cash in the A-merits for the recipes you want or recipes to sell. Roll for recipes if you like crafting. If not, Lotg7.5 and Kinetic Com triple recipes sell well and sell even more if crafted.

If you don't have GR, do Strike/Taskforces and convert merits to A-merits. For villain side SFs, you can do the following in about 1.5 hrs:
Merits
26...ITF - 30 mins
42...Silver Mantis - 1 hr
--
68 total merits

If you don't mind boring, repetitive stuff, farm AE. Go for maps that max out tix (1000 - 1500) instead of xp that you can do within 5-10 mins. Roll recipes with the tix and craft. If you don't like crafting, then this isn't for you.

On a normal, non-speed team, this is probably closer to around 3 hrs for both together, but that's still a low investment of time.

Thanks for the tips guys on a topic that I am sure has been posted numerous times before. I am still lacking a lot of influence so the conversion of reward merits and 20 mill is still too rich for me atm, so I think I am just going to run the morality missions and task forces when I can (mostly because I just want to experience them).

if money is a problem, sell your drops at the market. you can make tons of infl there.

what level range or slider should I be using for the Random Recipe rolls with the A-merits to maximize my returns? I technically still need some of the damage and defense IO sets, so any of those I get I will craft, but am really just trying to build up cash to buy some of the global IO pieces.

Oh, and I do have going rogue and have been doing the morality missions to get my A-merits.

35 to 39 is a popular range to roll where it maximizes your opportunities for the Miracle, Numina, LOTG IOs.

Protector Server
Woeful Knight (BS/Regen/Body Scrapper)
Kevin Christian (MC/FF/Primal Controller)
SilverCybernaut (Eng/Dev/Munitions Blaster)
Apixie OhNo (Fire/Fire/Pyre Tanker)
Y'ru Glowen (Rad/Rad/Psy Defender)

Just be aware that, like the Reward Merit random rolls, A-Merit random rolls give recipes at your level, not the range level, or the max level of the set if it caps out lower than your level.
