The fonts are tough...very tough...to take down solo.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just make sure to bring your difficulty down so that the fonts spawn as sans serif.

Thanks I'll be here all week!

    All scrapper STF

    [ QUOTE ]
I can agree with that, on the other hand I've seen teams that should fail succeed.

My first ITF, the leader had it set to Challenge rating 5, our "tank" was a WS in dwarf, we only had two 50's and half the team was sidekicked. It was the most fun I had had until I descovered the scrapper forum! We did the Tf in 2.5 hours... give or take a few minutes.

Well played team everyone knew their role.

I'll give the others a note of credit... they knew what they were getting into, I asked for no whining and I got none, despite the numerous deaths... so it may be that in the future they'll look into what scrappers can really do!

    [/ QUOTE ]

On Pinnacle, All Scrapper ITFs used to be run regularly. I was on a few of them. It's definitely doable and easily done. Not as fast as an ITF debuff team but it can be knocked out in about 1 to 1.5 hours. In fact, we save a ton of time by instructing all the scrappers to basically solo/duo each Nictus cyst themselves in the 2nd Nictus mission and just ignore the ambushes. That way, you triple the efficiency of the team and get the longest mish down in record time.

You really need 50s, all 8 of them to survive the cascading defense debuffs of the Cims and to be able to handle a mob until help arrives. Also, at appropriate times, the leader will designate a targetter, usually a /SR scrapper to be the point person for focus damage.

It just requires a little organization.
  3. That's a nice build and actually achievable unlike some SS/Elec builds I've seen that would require about 500 million infamy. I'm pretty poor redside so I've had a hard time getting the IOs I'd like to make my SS/Elec brute into decent shape considering how bad /Elec can be at times.

How's the extra melee defense working out for you with those bonuses?

    Hello Virtue :)

    [ QUOTE ]
    Welcome to Virtue!

If you manage to not find teams (which can happen), you're welcome to check the following channels: Virtue LFG Alpha and Virtuebadges09. Naturally, each one has in their name what they are specialized towards; however, you can find TFs and the like on both so they are handy to have.

You're also welcome to poke me any time at @Deertayorkay

    [/ QUOTE ]

So are these the main public TF/SF channels? Are they blueside or redside specific or both? Thanks!

I'm very peeved that the tailor changes that some of us wanted since day 1 (changing body type and height) end up in a paid booster.

What's next? A jet pack costume item for the Natural Booster? Fox tails or animated tails in the Mutant Booster?

    grumble grumble grumble

And yes I read Castle's post about it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Agreed, but what can you do? I sincerely hope that they don't limit all the cool costume pieces to Booster packs and expansions. I have to say almost all my favorite costume pieces have been from paid stuff, from the GvE pack to the Valkyrie armor. Of course, I instantly open my wallet for these things but I'm very sympathetic to those that cannot buy a Booster pack every couple of months on top of the monthly fees.

The only positive thing is that I know that when I buy a Booster pack it helps for the development costs so that all players may enjoy other content. However, I think that limiting all the very cool emotes and costume pieces to Booster packs will create a have and have-nots segregation for players that is not conducive to the community. Everyone should be able to enjoy high-collars, labcoats and slick Valkyrie armor.

Frankly, I think it hurts the community when these pieces are not available to the general player. New costume pieces create excitement; limiting them just creates resentment.

The Mission Teleporter now has a "proper" icon, instead of the red X

I liked the Big Red X. You can never miss it on the icon tray. Now the new button looks like the temp phase shift power.

I've been running W7 for quite a while now, using the RC build 7124, and I have to say it's refreshing to see MS get something right for once. Everything I've been doing has been running great. Oddly, CoH has been even faster (fps +10ish over previous OSs). Not sure how that works. Coming from Vista over to W7 is like waking up from a nightmare. I'm buying the Ultimate asap.

    Technet, eh... Hmmm....

    [/ QUOTE ]

hmm I never really had a problem with Vista other than the nivida driver stopped responding. Truth be told Vista was before it's time. Developers were slow to write vista supported device drivers (cough nvidia cough) and the ones they did supply crashed the OS.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think it had more to do with the fact that MS bowed to manufacturer pressure from Intel and allowed machines to be labeled as Vista capable when they clearly were not. That is called fraud. And they paid for it by having Vista bombed, its repuation savaged and lawsuits filed.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
I was getting this problem before I15 went live. Started last Thursday wtih my rig at my home, got it to work for a little bit on Friday before I was DC'd. My rig at my BF's is ok, tho it does take longer for updates. Since then I haven't been able to connect at home. I have tried nearly everything short of reinstalling the game. Any suggestions? I would really appreciate the help.

    Thanks for your time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I get this problem intermittently. I don't know if this is a good solution for you but what I do is run the updater very early in the morning. I think it has something to do with the updater server getting overwhelmed with new releases or there is a choke point somewhere in network from your ISP to the server. I run the Updater very early in the morning and eventually it starts syncing and downloading. Not an ideal solution but it worked for me. I think my ISP network is choked somewhere to the NCSoft network.
  9. Anyone having this problem. At my stated speed, it says I'll be finished downloading on the Updater in 38 hours. Never had this issue before, my bandwidth is more than enough and everything else is zippy quick.

    All scrapper STF

    [ QUOTE ]
I have seen several you tube vids and know about several different themed STF runs. I've seen vids of an all tank run and all defender run. And I know that an all earth troller run was done on my server and I've heard talks of an all blaster run. I've haven't heard anything about an all scrapper run. Has anyone ever been on one or know of one being completed?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's been done. It takes longer because of no debuffs and the fact that Recluse is hard to tank with a scrapper. There's a lot of rushing and dying at the end.

The STF is infinitely easier with either an all Defender STF or all Controller STF.
  11. Great guide. I never really thought about a SS/SD but this guide really makes me want to roll one up! Kudos.
  12. Yup, completely understand. Just wanted to let the OP know that /Ela has issues that he may want to consider. It's all good
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Considering the amount of +acc available and the fact it has an acc bonus to begin with not really. The major problem with snipes, in really either situation now is that their damage is nowhere near worth the activation time they possess.

Which i calculated many times over, the 60% increase to damage, and therefore the 40% increase to the recharge time equals the damage to the activation time, and justly keeps its DPS in check as well.

So its a buff to the damage but a nerf to the recharge time. Its not an "OMG lets make snipes uber" in any sense of the meaning. Its just a "can we PLEASE make it at least worth it to use them" kinda of fashion. Which this fix would do almost perfectly and comprimisingly.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, snipes need much more damage. Increase the recharge time, whatever, but a snipe needs to 1-shot a minion and half the health of a boss.

Or at least have a secondary effect where it causes automatic disorient or a fear effect. Snipers in real life are effective because they cause mass confusion or instant fear among a squad causing all the opposing side to take cover.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
For an interesting pick, go for ss/ela. The armor itself is missing a heal, but you have two end recovery powers, besides taking stamina. You will be able to leverage Lightning Reflexes into helping with attack chains, rage and hasten recharge, as well as a damage aura to supplement Footstomp. A patron pool like Mu would be theamatic and also a bit fun, though Soul Mastery would work if you plan on pvp'ing. The neat thing with this combo would be seeing just how many different kinds of IO sets you could leverage. If you find or buy into the Purples, then you have a wealth of options, from AOE, Range, Targeted AOE, Hold, Stun, Melee, Pets and Immob. Just my 2 cents.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I wouldn't recommend SS/Ela for a 1st time Brute. This combo's effectiveness varies all over the map, not very newby friendly and has a number of endurance and resistance issues. It's very fun and can be devastating and then be rendered wholly ineffective against the next mob. Pure resistance doesn't give that much mitigation, SS is murder on the endurance with the high end costs of /Ela toggles and Lightning Field. Power Sink isn't available until level 35.

Go Fire/WP or SS/WP to get the great Brute satisfaction with an easier managed secondary.
  15. I'd focus on recharge bonuses first instead of healing bonuses.
  16. concreteshift

    FM/Elec Brute

    - I think you are overslotting on Grounded and Static Shield.

    - Powersink needs at least 3 recharge and 2 end mods to make your end bar go full with 2 enemies.

    - Maybe take a slot out of Health, Grounded and Static Shield?

    - If You're not going to 3 slot Power Surge I'd drop it and use the slot somewhere else.

    Those are my thoughts.
  17. Uh oh. Time to spam those bug reports. Create some posts on the feedback forum stat!

Just kidding. Will hunker down and provide positive useful feedback full of win and informaiton. Promise!
  18. Gotcha. I keep wanting to drop it because the crash annoys me but so far it's pretty useful. Especially on hardcore teams.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
I know super reflexes goes for the soft cap defenses and resistance sets go for soft capping resist, but what does regen look for to cap?

Right now I have a ton of regen set IOs and I've only seen my total regeneration with Fast Heal+Health+Integration at 2.71%/sec and it seems to be gaining slightly. Is there a soft cap, and am I even beginning to approach this, or should I stop pursuing +regen and instead try to gain a different kind of mitigation via sets?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've been liking to emphasize +Recharge first, +Defense 2nd and then go for as much overall hitpoints as possible through taking every single Accolade and IO bonus you can to raise your total HP.

Then go for Eye of Magus pronto and then Geas of the Kind Ones. If you can make DP perma and have massive recharge, you can pop MoG. Then switch to Eye of Magus when things get really hairy. Then pop Geas to get the massive recharge and then have everything ready for your next encounter. It's awesome.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
I just hope the Dev's are listening to this and taking notes for future changed because im basically re-rolling a "better" brute due to the fact that the IO sets stink and the dmg resistance isnt a good way to do things..making it more like willpower where you step into a group of baddies and getting a stack of +res buffs would HELP ALOT.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think, unfortunately, the problem with /ELA is that it's bad but not bad enough, not crippling bad, to get any dev attention to the problem. It's a mediocre secondary compared to the top ranked ones but it does "ok, maybe". Usually, changes don't come until something is broken. Unfortunately because I have an /ELA Brute I'd love to play more but the return is subpar.
  21. /signed.

This will make the game so much more enjoyable and less frustrating. Especially for those who can't rely on hearing for a glowie.

Wow. It feels kinda lonely being the only happy person around.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm happy about the new powersets. Of course, I'm still puzzled by some of the choices but that doesn't keep me from enjoying them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm happy. Choice is good. I know alot of Villain fans for underwhelmed and I can see why but I'm sure this is just the first trickle of ported powersets.
  23. Still nothing? I'm dying here! How can I start my weekend without knowing which new powerset to use for I12?? Arghhh.
