  1. I take my ss/sd to freedom RV most nights and do just fine. Not many kills, four last night in about a half hour, but I have not died yet (almost last night when a bunch of heroes tried). /sd really does need to be loaded up for success in both pve and especially pvp. KO blow is where I get most of my kills; my attack chain of FS/KOblow/ShieldCharge/FS gets some and certainly sets up other villains for KSs.

I have my defenses at 50 and 20.

No the FF Proc is global 100% recharge boost for 10 seconds.

    [/ QUOTE ]

do you have any documentation of this? i have been looking for it and have come up empty. thanks.
  3. in defense of the above brute standing in a mob of heroes...

on freedom i take my (heavily bonused) ss/sd to RV and have not died yet.

i normally jump in a group of heroes and start hitting/stomping/charging away and that gets the attention of most of them.

if one decides to start fight club, i will engage.

i pretty much have no hope of killing anyone (and i have only scored about 4 kills i would say, not efficient), but what i am good at is distracting all the heroes and allowing the villains to pick apart whoever is engaging me.

on the few kills i have gotten, i was fortunate enough to get a knockdown/up. that is the key.

And with a FF proc in Thunderstrike, guess what ? They come back much faster

    [/ QUOTE ]

the FF proc only works on the power it is slotted in. not a global, from what i read on wiki.
  5. [ QUOTE ]

Screw the analogies, but yes, Elec/SD is the AoE king of the day for melee types.

    ss/sd
  6. I threw a full numina set in true grit for the hit points and defense bonus, win both ways
  7. [ QUOTE ]

you could change tough to an aegis set and that will give you some more AOE defense.

    [/ QUOTE ]

or just add a -kb zeph to CJ

    ss/sd build

so what is the best patron pool to take for this build?

i had previously taken Soul for Dark Obliteration and the faster recharge and -hit buff that comes with it.

but i noticed a lot of people taking the Mu pool.

    ss/sd build

i would agree that .4% is no big deal, given the great set bonuses that come with the PvP IOs.

    ss/sd build

thanks again Chaos. i should have mentioned earlier that infamy is no object. especially now that it seems i will have to sell my purple sets (am i correct that you can not fit purples into a soft-capped build?).

as for your second build, what is the benefit of using the PvP IOs if i dont get softcapped? i guess the set benefits from them outweigh the difference in defense?

and yes, the FF proc seems too great to not try to squeeze in somewhere. that coupled with the GSFC proc seems like a very good thing.

    ss/sd build

Chaos, thank you for your reply and build. very interesting, and i appreciate it.

i had no idea how to slot powers, or even to slot them at all. or what powers to take in some cases.

for instance, i would have assumed that you always 6 slot stamina, but i guess that's because i still remember the old days before mitigation.

i noticed you dont have the Aegis resist psi in there, why not?

also, the +stealth in CJ, i know why that would be good in PvP, but wouldnt it be bad in PvE, since i normally want the aggro? or does it offer some other side benefit that isnt as obvious to me?

i will throw it into Mid's when i get home.

    again, thanks.

    ss/sd build

understood. thank you for the comment.

it was my first attempt at planning any type of build.

i have been playing for years but just to have fun and stuff. never to really optimize my build.

however, this build requires it, since /sd is so squishy. it reminds me of my blaster days.

i had no idea how to slot it, so i gave it a shot.

    i will rework it.

    ss/sd build

thank you for the constructive criticism Fitz.

the rest of you need to grow up.

    ss/sd build

so i have been working on soft capping my ss/sd. this is what i came up with.

45.1 melee, 43.7 ranged, 44.7 AoE. the empty slot in True Grit is for the Panacea proc.

tell me what you think, thanks.

  15. i have a SS/SD named 'out ma face' at 50.

you will need to get soft-capped defense. i am in the process of doing it.

/SD is pretty squishy, but shield charge is worth it.

No idea why this wasnt part of the initial launch
