FA is one of the better PvP sets. SS/FA is quite a good combo. Brute DM is to be avoided in PvP due to the lack of Build Up.
P.S. You know I always found it a bit ironic to have powers that grant you ToHit, but themselves need to hit in order to grant the bonus. Those powers are useless when you actually need them.

I hope peeps keep thinking that DM/FA is gimped PvP. I like being semi-unique. Seldom do I die in PvP with my DM/FA brute. Its my Fav PvP toon >8) ... So by all means don't roll a DM/FA Brute.

Surviving is one thing, but do you really get "kills" in actual "zone pvp" and not Fiteclub? This is a serious question.
Heh .... If you are the DarkMaster, That jumped me with 3 other heroes & eventually a heavy in RV on Protector while I was on my toon "Evil It" (DM/Fire) and all of you died continuously, except the stone Tank that ran to the base then you have your answer >8)
If you are not that same DarkMaster, then someone else that frequents RV has the same name ...
I will admit I do draw with /regen scrappers more than I like to but they aren't killing me either ...

I play on Freedom, and if I would have jumped you with 3 Heroes, you would have died. No question.
My question is, do you actually get kills, against real players? If you play on Protector for pvp, your experience in zones may be lacking though, as they are much less populated there.

I have to agree. If there were 3 of them and they had a heavy you'd be one dead brute despite your combo. Especially if they actually knew what they were doing.
-Make no mistake There are some quite talented PvPers on Protector...
-And Yes I have PvPed on Freedom aswell
-Just because it is a less populated server doesn't mean that people are lacking PvP skills ... I would put Protectors Best againist any other servers best & wouldnt be surprised if they came out ahead.
-I am not one of Protectors best, But I'm working at it.
-I will admit those 4 should have taken me out ... but they didn't & it was fun killing them.
-My DM/Fire was made for Thurs. Night Fights which is a series of FFA's, Various Teams, & other arena matches...
-I feel that a SS/FA brute is a stronger build but a well played, well built DM/FA brute is Solid PvPer.
And yes I do get kills on Real Players and I get kills on Scrubs aswell.
Freedoms RV is a great place if you want to learn how to Kill Steal, Its also a very active PvP server BUT it is not the end all be all...

Freedom is full of elitists, heh peeps that think just because they are on a high pop server they are all that ...

Not saying all the peeps are elitists on Freedom. I know some Fine folks there ... but seems that it does have more than its fair share ...
The 4 where A stone tank, 2 Fire blasters, & a Dark defender ...
The blasters didn't really hurt because of my secondary being fire ... The stoner was a good taunter ... IDK what the Defender was doing but his debuffs didn't seem to make me miss that much..
& I am so glad they fixed that Counterphract's hold to 4 sec vs an eternity ...

You know Bookkeeper. I bet if we set up a Test server Fight Night, lets say this Thursday at 9 pm est, and set up teams of 4. You and whoever you picked, against Grimlaf and any 3 he picked from Protector, the results would be interesting.

No, I never mocked the idea. Interesting was just an unusual word for it. And I can put my money where my mouth is (although that's a waste of money).
in defense of the above brute standing in a mob of heroes...
on freedom i take my (heavily bonused) ss/sd to RV and have not died yet.
i normally jump in a group of heroes and start hitting/stomping/charging away and that gets the attention of most of them.
if one decides to start fight club, i will engage.
i pretty much have no hope of killing anyone (and i have only scored about 4 kills i would say, not efficient), but what i am good at is distracting all the heroes and allowing the villains to pick apart whoever is engaging me.
on the few kills i have gotten, i was fortunate enough to get a knockdown/up. that is the key.
im trying to make a char purely for pvp. i was wondering which would be best? SS/FA or DM/FA?
SS has rage so you have 25% more acc and 80% more dmg all the time... and knockdown!
DM has a self heal.. so combined with FA, thats 2 selfheals... and it has immobilize and fear which might be useful?
or is there an different setup that would be better?
