Quote:Hmmm, I would like more of this information. I'm not seeing it on the boards outside of your post. Anywhere I should be looking? Thanks. Not wild speculation -- there was a leak on the test server that had full information on each type and upgrade for the first five levels of incarnate (Alpha, Judgement, Interface, Lore, and Destiny).
*****SPOILERS*****
Judgement comes in four flavors:
Ion - Energy chaining attack (-end, -recov, hold)
Void - Negative PBAoE (-DMG, KB)
Pyronic - Fire TAoE (+DoT, stun)
Cryonic - Cold Cone (-spd, -rech, hold)
No real word on things like accuracy, recharge, or end cost. But they don't seem to hit more than 15 targets (or less). Like with Alpha, as you level up and get upgrades you can lean one way or another. You can make your Pyronic go all damage, or push it toward the mezzy stun branch. They seem to do the same damage regardless of AT. -
Quote:Well, I personally find The End of Time close to unwatchable, not because it is sad, but because it is genuinely stupid, cloying in its attempts to emotionally manipulate the viewer. RTD was once a great character writer, but the rampant success of Who has indulged only his worst qualities. You still get great moments sometimes when he isn't paying attention (Midnight is almost as good as Blink, and the government scenes in the otherwise embarrassing Children of Earth are vestiges of an audacious and challenging mind) but the harder he tries to make the audience cry, the less attention he pays to ANY logical function of the plot. Melodrama and logic are not mutually exclusive in anything other than an RTD finale.Be warned, Russell Davies' New Who hits pockets of absurdity with increasing frequency until by The End of Time, it reaches Condition: Total Bollocks Overdrive (spoilers).

Quote:The good Captain undergoes a bit of a personality removal when he gets his own show, oddly enough. I don't rate much of Torchwood very highly at all.I've only seen a couple episodes regarding Jack, but so far my opinion is that you shall not besmirch the name of Captain SexyFace.
However, Matt Smith is an excellent Doctor and Season 5 is as strong as any in modern Who, so it is worth the bumps in the road. -
My fastest run to 50 was my Crab Spider and that was easily 98% solo. Toggles + pets = good.
-
I just ticked two years and I've done exactly two TFs. They made very little sense story wise, and was about following the directions of people who had done them countless times. I would have much rather solo'd them, so I could have enjoyed the content instead of following directions and shooting everything in the order called out by the leader.
That is just me though. -
I think my biggest buzzkill is when I'm going about my business crafting some recipes or even better finally got a rare recipe that I've been wanting for a while, and when I go to buy some random piece of common salvage, I find that someone has "cornered the market" and circuit boards or human blood samples or whathaveyou are going for 500,000 a piece.
Now I have so many super fun options, like trying to find an AE team for tickets to get salvage, or continuing to play in the hopes of a lucky drop. The best is when all my storage and inventory are bursting with salvage and recipes, but I can't craft it away because of BS market manipulations.
It is as fun as someone blocking the doorway to the university and demanding 500,000 grand to go in.
But it usually only lasts a day or two, so I usually just log off when I see it getting out of control. Still, that is one player making the game much less fun for other players. I have no time for it and I don't respect it. -
I have one at 20, and while I really like her, it was slow, slow soloing. I play predominately solo, so I really felt how low the damage was in the early levels. I ended taking the snipe, just to get a chunk out of something, since most of the other powers are DOT and unless they are scourging, nothing died before it thumped me but good.
The good thing about it is that you need to play strategically and that gets you really familiar with how to use the powers you have. The downside is it is slow going.
Teams I think it would work much more easily. I am really looking forward to getting more tools. I also just got stamina which made a world of difference. I get the impression that by the early 30s she will be a beast.
Hope that helped at all. -
Quote:This is a thread, not a conversation. And you are the only one who sounds angry. What the heck are you talking about? If he's not angry at all these people then I don't know what he has to do to show it. Don't comment on my conversation with someone else if you have nothing to add to it. That's troll behavior...
Also, he took something I said and made it seem like I was trying to contradict him when I wasn't even talking to him. He keeps getting angry because people don't agree with him. Did you even read the posts or did you just want to add to your post counts?
Relax, it is friendly in here. -
Quote:Please don't tell that guy he is angry when his post doesn't read as angry. I'm assuming you are just creating a Straw Man.OK who pissed in your Cheerios? Stop getting so angry when people disagree with you. I wasn't even talking about anything that you were talking about. Did you ever stop to think that a troller could be anything other than a Kin? All I said was if I wouldn't have been able to attack as fast and kept my endurance as well we would have team wiped. The troller still alive was NOT the Kin troller. The Kin troller got wiped pretty fast because some idiot ran into at least 3 or 4 mobs at once, and so yes the only contributing factor on my Blaster from the Kin was the SB. I don't know how you assumed that the one still alive was a Kin from what I said...
The PLANT troller and I were even separated and firing off as many powers as we could. The holds kept the troller alive long enough for me to finish my group of enemies and help them finish theirs off. Maybe you should get your facts right before you try to argue a point that's not being made next time.
Again I say: If I had not had SB on I would have died because I couldn't have attacked as quickly or as efficiently thanks to the extra endurance I had. My comment was about WarronPeace comment that said SB didn't have much to do with survival. Obviously it does or my team would have team wiped in this instance. Why don't you go back and read my other comment... Maybe it will click in your head then!!
And to Tex's point about bragging about not taking SB. I don't think anyone is bragging about it. It is to point out that other players behavior has become so irritating around SB as to render the power detrimental to our own enjoyment of the game. Is it every player? No, but it is certainly enough.
Having Speed Boost became like searching the internet without a pop up blocker. More trouble than it was worth. Extreme reactions like demanding to be thanked or dropping the power altogether are just that, reactions. -
Wow. I actually just bought one, assuming it was an actual proc.
Got all the way to the crafting table (with my millions of dollars worth of salvage I was about to burn) before I noticed the 2%.
In a game as rife with power typos as this one, you would think that they would add the text, "No seriously, only 2 freaking percent" in the power description.
Glad I looked it up. -

Quote:That worked perfectly, thanks!open applications, right click (ctrl click) City of Heroes, click show contents, navigate to Contents, then Resources, then transgaming, then c_drive, then "coh", data, texture_library, you can then replace MAPS and V_MAPS there.
Don't see why someone doesn't just post that plus the zip file on the website for the mac users. -
Quote:Just to play devil's advocate to your examples, do the rest of the team constantly send tells to the tank telling him to taunt while he is using his attacks? Do they send tells to the blaster telling him to use his more damaging ranged attacks if he starts blapping? The answer is obvious. You're acting like a self important ***. You play a Kin and take a buff power, you use it where it helps and is needed or you don't take the power or the set. Do you thank the tank when he taunts? Do you thank the scrapper or the blaster when they do damage to an enemy? I suspect not. You are no more obligated or expected to do that then other people are when you use the power and set you have selected for the good of the team.
You would certainly be immediately kicked from any team I was leading for your poor attitude and refusal to help the team.
The reason Kins are complaining in the first place is because of the way other players behave around Speed Boost. The reason I dropped Speed Boost from one Kin and probably won't take it on my new Kin, is that I don't like being annoyed and I don't like being told what to do.
Also, you act like being on your team is a precious gift you bestow on only your worthiest of subjects. Someone will have to agree to join your team, and then stay on your team, long enough for your swift judgment to rain down upon them.
Good luck to you though. -
I solo'd my crab practically all the way to 50 and it was the smoothest ride I've had in COX. My other 50s were a fire/kintroller and a bots/poison mm and my crab has been the most fun to play out of all my toons. I think it just fits my play style really well, I don't know.
My only complaint, if that, is that the build is so tight, and there are still powers I can't fit in. Thank god for ninja run.
So I can tell you first hand it solos really well. If you go the pets route, you are like your own little army. I went all 3 pets, with some good recharge, double leaderships, and soft capped ranged defense. I have fantasies about a second build where I drop all but the middle pet, pick up tough and weave, and make a hover spider, but as a dedicated solo'er, I don't make enough money to fund my many alts, let alone second builds at this point.
I'm waiting until GR until I start to play her some more, because she is the toon I'm going to go chasing incarnates with, and I don't want to have to respec any more than I absolutely have to. -
I would love anything that makes SB less desirable to the braying masses. Is there any other power in this game that people hate having based solely on how so much of the player base behaves around it?
-
I haven't played my Kin troller for a while now, but she was my first 50, and most of that was solo.
However, I did team enough to know I hated Speed Boosting bellyachers every 5 seconds. If I can solo 40 levels, I can contribute plenty to any team.
So I respec'd out of it, and put "I don't have Speed Boost" in my search field. Sorted. -
I used the installer, which opened terminal at the end (and made me very nervous) but I still only show the old vidiotmaps. Nothing as far as I can tell is updated.
I'm on the most recent leopard and I have to delete that preferences file every time I want to play, if that has anything to do with it. Although since my old map pack is still there I don't see why.
So for me, not working.
Does anyone know how I can just manually find the right folder to cut and paste the files into? I could find it on windows, but I can never find anything on a mac. -
I think the one thing I would like the people that make the boosters to keep in mind is making sure that the shiny premiums we are paying for are as versatile as possible.
Case in point: the first booster I bought when I came to the game was the cyborg pack specifically because one of my first characters (of course) had been rebuilt with the monstrous robot claw feet and I wanted her to be essentially a head and torso with robotic limbs.
However, there is no such option to have cyborg legs and robot claw feet. You have to pick one or the other, and that seems pretty cheap to me.
I would also encourage you to try to make as much clothing as possible work for both genders. The magic pack has that fantastic coat that you made for male and huge bodies, but surely it would have been worth it to give to females?
Stuff like that. If I am going to pay for these, I want to be able to use as much of the pack as possible.
Thanks for reading, the customization is really the thing that keeps me coming back here every month. Keep up the good work. -
The thing I hate about having SB and why I respec'd out of it is its secondary effect of turning teammates into braying, entitled nuisances, endlessly squealing for SB like newborn chicks fighting over their mother's vomit.
-
So I use Leopard, because I can't upgrade to Snow Leopard until some work software becomes compatible.
Despite the fact I'm on Leopard, "Donovan" from COH tech support just told me to update to the latest Snow Leopard.
What the hell? Are they even paying attention? -
Yeah, I feel the pain. I've been around about a year and a half, and I am about a week away from canceling. I've been going back in forth with the tech support, describing things and error reports in minute detail, and the last time I heard from them they gave me a list of 45 things to do and log. And frankly, I don't have time for it. I have a job. I work there.
I told them I wasn't able to give them their days work and they just sent me a "how did we do solving your problem?" survey.
They didn't score high.
The only bright side so far is that I didn't pre purchase Going Rogue.
The only reason I'm on these boards is to check the mac forum and see if any progress has been made.
Apparently it hasn't? -
Why don't you mail them to yourself?
-
-
Well, i17 appears to have bricked my Mac's ability to run outside of safe mode.
So that is pretty fun.
Any chance of a fix for this? -
I was able to play for about an hour this evening, until it did the classic "Mac Freeze" and I had to option/command/esc to close the program.
Only now I am just continuously greeted with a black silent screen. Opened in safe mode, which worked, but out of safe mode same hanging blackness. I tried adjusting some of the graphic settings while in safe, but no apparent change.
Tired and irritated, I have too much work to do for this to be this much work. Hoping there is a actual fix for this.
I'm on last years MacBook Pro running most recent Leopard.
Edit-
I was able to open out of safe mode only with the unplayable resolution of 800x600.
Good times.
