That would be really cool, actually.

Well, we did just get First Ward, which is a very jungle/swamp/natural type zone with plenty of daylight, and a fresh new Atlas Park, which is a very pristine, heroic, and inspiring zone. Before that, we got the three cities of Praetoria, which are highly advanced and often-times beautifully structured. So I guess this moody, dark, foreboding, forever night time revamp of Dark Astoria could be considered a Combo Breaker.

You might be looking a bit too much into things, there, Kage. PuG teams are fragile to begin with, and it never takes much to break one apart, the biggest reason being people don't want to dedicate hours of playtime to this game.
It just feels like the only people that hate on Energy as severely as they do are the folks that are obsessed with min/maxing everything. -
I've only ever seen a small number of people on the forums complain about it. Most people I've come across in game don't care so long as the enemies die.

Quote:I'm not really seeing much of a difference, except for the lack of rusty air, higher cliffs, and, to be honest, the original Faultline looking more like a generic hazard zone. I can't see anything that looks like it stands out and was removed during the revamp, either. The new rikti crash site is almost identical to the old so I don't really see a point in remaking that one. The new faultline is a lot different, and personally during my time playing this game I've heard time and time again how people would love to revisit the old fault. I know I would like to see it again. Some of those free falls were epic.
Here a video to bring back some of the nostalgia:

Got a nit to pick.
Was going to run Liberty's hero arc, and while reading through the intro for the first mission, Recluse's first name is spelled "Stephan". Isn't it spelled "Stefan"? That bugged me a little. -
Probably never. Like Dread said, badges played a huge part in keeping the old zones. That and people loved the old Dark Astoria and how it conveyed it's sense of horror, so it's a no brainer it would get the Echo treatment. Old Faultline, though, isn't something I think I've ever heard anyone else clamoring to want to revisit. Much like the Rikti Crash Site, which is why we don't have an Echo of it, either.

Quote:Called it.I can report that I successfully respecced out of the Crab Spider alternate build into a Wolf Spider build, and the backpack went away!
Perhaps a QoL change? Was pretty sure I had tried this before to no effect. Anyway, if someone else has this problem, try a respec out of the Crab into something else. -
Considering that the entire schtick behind the Crab Spider is the Crab Spider backpack, you kind of should've expected to get it. I think as long as you respec and make sure you have zero crab spider powers in either of your builds, it'll go away.

Quote:I agree. The power just doesn't work well at all in the type of game CoH is.In the past, pissing off the players hasn't really stopped them from making changes, there's too many variables for me to be specific.
In this particular case I'd vote to change it, or at least get a decent poll and see if the majority would tolerate a change.
I really don't see what it could hurt. -
What were the devs thinking*.
And it was probably one of those "Sounds good on paper but doesn't work as well in reality" type things. And with the devs not wanting to drastically change old powers as to piss off any existing players, they haven't, and probably won't, make any serious changes to it. -
Quote:Shouldn't be available yet, and now that you mention it, it was poorly worded. Should read as "will be available" instead.Am I reading this wrong? Is it available NOW, or is it going to be available SOON? Because I just went looking through the character creation screen, and I'm not seeing Darkness Control listed there, and nothing pops up when I look at the Paragon Market either. I was all hopeful when I read this announcement, thinking that when I got home I could make a Dark/whatever alt, but now I'm feeling a bit sad. I don't think any post should make it through saying it IS available, if it isn't....just saying.

Quote:Don't think it'll be at all necessary to change things to the contacts considering soon people will be able to access TFs via the LFG tool. The previous poster didn't actually answer the question...
Not that I know of. I have played for over 4 Years and never understood this either.
Were I to guess, I would say it has to do with the fact that they act different than traditional contacts. They only exist in your Contact List while on the TF, and therefore only exist on your map during this period... similar to how a lot of contacts don't appear unless you have unlocked them.
I would think it would be possible to make a Task Force tab with all of the contacts for your side listed there, therefore having their locations on your map. I would support such a change. -
I've never paid attention to them, and whenever I do see them I always thought they were dumb. They're an AV, I don't need further visual proof they're gonna be tough.

Quote:Nothing wrong with Prime earning his wings first. Character development is a good thing.Painted the classic Prime with hot rod flames. Prime didn't have the Matrix of Leadership and had to 'earn' it in the 2nd.
Below may or may not be right, due to poor memory.
And i think they messed up Soundwave with Shockwave. My recalling is that when they cut to the one in space floating around earth was "Soundwave" from what i heard them say but that would be wrong it would be shockwave.
And that was supposed to be Soundwave as the satellite in the second film. He was organizing the Decepticons and being an all around task master, which isn't really wrong at all. Shockwave was actually being saved for the third film, as he is one of Megatron's most trusted soldiers, and is a genius in his own right. Shockwave usually doesn't show up in the story until later, considering he's busy with other important affairs. -

Dear god no. Just, no.

Quote:Except they look like the Wolf we had in the Haunted House, the German Shepherd pet, and the Coyote travel form. Still not digging having a dog as the tier 9, and wouldn't mind having the option of, say, Fluffy or something in addition to the dog. Especially with Dog Mastery coming down the line, soon.Umbra Beasts also have the added benefit of looking unlike anything else in City of Heroes' game world! They're truly unique.
Rest of the write up looks solid, though. -
You could always just not buy these packs. They'll still be churning out costume sets and content the same way they have been for years. Not like these Super Packs will be taking over the entire game, or taking away from you anything you already have and enjoy.

Quote:Beast Wars and Animated were, in my opinion, the greatest. Animated gets a lot of flack for it's animation style, but it had the most coherent plot, a ton of references to the entire Transformers franchise, and the most competent set of Decepticons out of any series.G1 always holds a special place for me, but Beast Wars was for me the best of the cartoon series. Beast Machines starting getting a bit too mystical and I was never that keen on techno-organic Cybertron.
Armada/Energon/Cybertron I have filed under the WSNSOT cataegory: We Shall Not Speak of Them.
Starscream successfully back stabbed Megatron. Megatron got revenge by killing him without giving him even a second to talk his way out of it. Shockwave was a complete bad ***. Starscream came back from the dead and became his own side in the war, dedicated to killing Megatron. Not to mention actually giving Optimus Prime character development instead of having him be the perfect Autobot was really nice. -
But the Carnie sash is a Kheldian sash, just slightly more high definition. I've compared the two before, and they, in fact, are the same belt.
