why don't TF contacts show up on the map?

Question is in the title really. I've been playing this game since August and for the life of me, I cannot understand why there is no way to find TF contacts unless a mission leads you to it, you wiki it, or happen to run into them on accident.

Obviously a number of them are dead simple to find, like all the Signature Hero task forces. But then there's stuff like Katie Hannon or Hess or Moonfire. It's just a bit absurd.

So is there a development reason this has never been implemented?

All the freedom phalanx tf people are located right by the zone's trainers. Trials in croatoa and hollows have introductory contacts that direct you to the contact on completion of their arcs (i think)

Otherwise do you have vidiots map pack installed? Cause it adds all the TF contacts to your map.

The previous poster didn't actually answer the question...

Not that I know of. I have played for over 4 Years and never understood this either.

Were I to guess, I would say it has to do with the fact that they act different than traditional contacts. They only exist in your Contact List while on the TF, and therefore only exist on your map during this period... similar to how a lot of contacts don't appear unless you have unlocked them.

I would think it would be possible to make a Task Force tab with all of the contacts for your side listed there, therefore having their locations on your map. I would support such a change.

Don't think it'll be at all necessary to change things to the contacts considering soon people will be able to access TFs via the LFG tool.

It was kinda cool back in the day. I was randomly moving along and, whoah! there is Sister Psi! Wow! COOL!

Also was kinda cool that I knew a 'secret' contact that gave super awesome missions with a team....

Also, only contacts that you have been introduced to show up on the map... and no one introduces you to most of the TF contacts... therefore no contact on map.

Your character does not have capped defense. Depending on your AT the cap is between 175% - 225%. Your defense is not teal in the combat window, it can go higher. STOP SAYING IT IS CAPPED! The correct term is Soft Cap.
I enjoy playing in Mids. I specialize in Melee Characters, other AT's usually bore me.

Consider this pure speculation on my part, but largely I think it was a design choice
back in the Early Days (tm).

Part of it was that most contacts were "chained" based on your Origin, and I think
that players either gradually learned where things were through play (and reading
the stories), or they went to PI to PL their toons.

You may have noticed that most of the old Hero side content routes you all over
the Cities as standard fare.

With Villains, and a bunch of player screaming, they gradually got away from
that thinking, to the point where they've added more ways to get around, joined
tram lines etc.

LFG is another step along that "convenience" route, I think.

So, mostly, I think that TF contacts are a bit of a throwback that they haven't
gotten around to changing.

Presumably, over time, it will change (kind of like SSA contacts, where you don't
have to know where they are at all until you take their missions).

In the meantime, it's wiki or vidiotmaps, or talk to an old-school tf vet...
