Echo Faultline

Where is it?

Galaxy gets it. I hear Dark Astoria gets it. When do we get it with Faultline?

'Nough said.

I'll assume it's too late to bring the old one back.

Also, one of the big reasons we got the GC echo was because they completely removed the zone, making the respective zone's badges unobtainable if they didn't add the echo.

It still exists.

Didn't say it didn't. But the change happened a very long time ago that it would be odd if they brought it back now.

Probably never. Like Dread said, badges played a huge part in keeping the old zones. That and people loved the old Dark Astoria and how it conveyed it's sense of horror, so it's a no brainer it would get the Echo treatment. Old Faultline, though, isn't something I think I've ever heard anyone else clamoring to want to revisit. Much like the Rikti Crash Site, which is why we don't have an Echo of it, either.

The Crash site was more of a retcon. Old Faultline was an amazing work of art. The problem was, at the low level you were at when you got the zone, made you easily killed and not fun to get around.

Besides, its an easy add, unlike a lot of whats requested. All the code already exists and is used currently. Just another beacon named Echo Faultline connecting to the map and there ya go, bob's-your-uncle.

The most time consuming thing would be selecting what you'd want the beacon picture to be lol. It could be coded and added in like 10 minutes. Maybe less.

And then watch as 20 completely unrelated bugs pop up cause NC doesn't test their code.

Again, you don't have to test your code for this, it already exists ingame and is a quick click method really.

You copy and past Echo Galaxy. You then change the title. Then in the location part of the code, you delete Echo Galaxy's zone codes and copy and past in Echo Faultline. Done.

My point and I guess "'nough wasn't said" lol is that all the main reason to be against this don't exist. So people are just against it to be against it.

Money - Its cost effect. Adds features and a zone into a game for the lowest amount possible. The only thing that would take just as long, (if not longer sometimes) would be descriptions for missions, characters, etc, which this doesn't have.

Time - Again, it all, already exists so time is extremely minimal.

Knowledge and effort. Again, its just copy and pasting.

So you haven't actually given a justifiable issue against this. :P

The new rikti crash site is almost identical to the old so I don't really see a point in remaking that one. The new faultline is a lot different, and personally during my time playing this game I've heard time and time again how people would love to revisit the old fault. I know I would like to see it again. Some of those free falls were epic.

I have.

1) Badges: The main reason we got galaxy echo was because the badges would become unobtainable otherwise. The badges that were in the rikti crash site and old faultline appear in the new versions of those zones. It wasn't possible for that to be done with GC because there was no replacement to the zone other than the tutorial, but that wouldnt work as a place to hold those badges.

2) Date of the change: Faultline was revamped a really long time ago. Doing something about the old faultline *now* just wouldnt make sense. There would be no reason to goto the old faultine other than maybe once to see what it was like and then never going back to it again. The reason it worked for GC is because there are badges there that people need to have access to. If they /did/ bring back old faultline can you honestly say most people would goto that zone other than check it out once then never come back? It would just be another dead zone in coh.

edit: to clarify, my reasons against it are more that there is no justifiable reason to support bringing it back, not that I'm against it just to be against it, since there would be no purpose to the zone.

I'm not really seeing much of a difference, except for the lack of rusty air, higher cliffs, and, to be honest, the original Faultline looking more like a generic hazard zone. I can't see anything that looks like it stands out and was removed during the revamp, either.

Man, those were some giant cliffs. I can see why they changed it; old Faultline must have been a nightmare for those without teleport or fly, even more so than the current one. That and, well...I don't quite see where it's a 'work of art'. The new Faultline fits pretty nicely without some of the slight insanity of giant crevasses. I can see why the CoT fitted in the old zone, though; they must have really brought the roof down on bits of Oranbega there.
