Iunno. Might be. Hope not. Have to wait and see.
Also, the more I look at those gloves, the more I want them. I think I'll be buying those, too. They are simple, large, mesh well with other costumes, and are all around awesome. Screw it. When this pack comes out, I'm buying the whole thing. -
Dink, yet again you continue to prove just how awesome of a dev you are. All the pieces are turning out nicely, and I know I will at least be buying those backpacks and the bubble helmet first possible chance I get.
My only critique is for the Rocket Pack. Perhaps make the fins and the tip on it use the secondary color choice, as well, so that it's more customizable and something more noticeable can have a second color on it? Most people won't notice the butt of the rocket, so having only it use the secondary color would be a waste. -
Hey, whatever lets Pixar make awesome movies. It's not like Pixar owes us anything. They're a business, they require money to continue churning out quality stories, and the employees there need to eat, sleep, pay bills, and all around live. Plus, from what I can tell, kids loved Cars and Cars 2, so I'm not seein' the problem.

He means in terms of character, personality, origin, etcetera. It's a crutch to say "Hey, look at this guy! They look shiny and new! But their story and personality is boring as all hell."

All I can suggest is try not holding it in the D. That place tends to breed a different type of RPer.

As long as you're having fun, it doesn't matter.

I had a friend that made a small pure white wall and platform. Can't remember what he used to make it, but it worked very well as a green screen.

I would just suggest either zooming out as much as you can, or asking the devs to make the elemental pets be more transparent.
Either that, or pick up a new Lore Pet as a backup in case you're in a cramped area and you can't zoom out. But I don't think the devs can code the pets to always stay above or behind the player, at least not without effing up the pet AI code any further. -
I don't. He just keeps getting written so god awfully, much like the rest of the Freedom Phalanx.
They all have potential to be cool and engaging. But someone on the dev team just keeps saying "lol nope!" And we get this SSA, or the Top Cow comics :| -
Quote:Probably because the few people that post on things like forums have an incredibly different opinion than the many many more people that don't post on forums.Yes but some of us are not hating on things directly -because- they are popular. Some of us are hating on the strangely divine forces in the universe that somehow MADE those god-awful things popular in the first place. I realize it may be a subtle difference to some, but it is what it is.

I'd prefer Judgement to get attention over Lore, as Lore has loads to choose from, but if it ever got another go around, I wouldn't mind seeing some sort of fire-esque creature. I've run into an issue on what kind of Lore pet to take on my Fire brute, since none of them are really thematic. An elemental fire beast, or even just tougher versions of the Fire Imps, would be awesome.

Quote:You can use your Primary's Tier 1 and 2 abilities. It's the Secondary that you're restricted to using Tier 1.Next, keep Defiance, but increase it to Tier3/Tier2, so you can get some multiple attacks off. It's not quite mez protection, but those two changes (I think anyways) would make Blasters feel tougher and more comic book level without just giving them outright mez protection.
Not to mention some of those Tier 1 abilities just suck to use -
Quote:Not how it works. If you roll up a new character, there will be six playstyles to choose from, representing each of the different types of powers. Tank, Melee Damage, Ranged Damage, Crowd Control, Support, and Pets. Those are the six overall types of powers they can make for players; armor sets, melee damage sets, ranged damage sets, enemy control sets, ally support sets, and personal pet based sets. Just because you stand far away doesn't necessarily mean it's Ranged Damage. That is why Controllers, a control/support based AT, have Fire Control and Thermal Radiation as opposed to Fire Blast. And 4 of those categories are clearly ranged, even after you seperate them.
I can divide Melee into multiple categories as well.
Titan weapons is clearly a massive burst damage melee aoe set.
Street Justice is a combo-based melee set.
Staff Fighting is based on its own mechanic, and by the confessions of the developers was designed as Titan-Weapons "lite" from the beginning and ended up like it is now. It's noteworthy for being a potential Stalker set.
Pitting everything that's "Ranged" in one category is fallacious. When there's a powerset dedicated to control, or support, or command of your pets that requires you to be in melee range for a majority of it's powers, then we'll another category for melee. But as it stands, all melee powersets we currently have are "Melee Damage." -
Quote:Not even really that, either. The Spring Fling content and, as far as I know, the Dark Astoria content barely mention his death, the impact he had, or the grieving of others. We just get a half-***** "Let's get Recluse laid" arc, given out by his own granddaughter no less, and a mention that Nemesis is coming out of nowhere to raid Portal Corp in SSA6. Hell, even half of the player community is celebrating his death. The world actually won't change until I23. They planned his death and the impact it'll have on the world potentially 5-6 months apart. Not very good planning on Paragon Studios' part.Speaking of Stateman's death: I will give the Death of Superman story one thing - it took into consideration Superman's very strength of influence over the rest of humanity. When he died, crime rates soared as the criminal underworld suddenly felt empowered without the living symbol of truth and justice bearing down on them. We have heard of no such change in the CoX universe, as if grief was the only thing that resulted from Statesman's fall.

That seems to be a pretty far stretch for complaints, especially the Capes one. I haven't seen a single person complain that they can't wear a backpack at the same time as a cape. In fact, from what I've seen, a majority of players don't care about those little things so long as they get a bad *** costume part they've been wanting. And like Electric said, the devs don't have to listen to every nonsensical complaint, although I really doubt we'd get a tidal sea of rage from implementing a quiver. If anything, it'd be a tidal sea of joy.
-
Quote:Why not just implement stand in models, like a generic sheath or quiver (the quiver really doesn't even need to be dynamic) and then when you finally bust out that dynamic tech you want, upgrade the existing costume parts? It worked for tails, and would finally make a use for that awesome backpack node you worked on for years and barely have any costume pieces for.Q: Quivers, blades, etc as back parts?
A: The problem comes as people expect it to be a dynamic costume part. (I assume taking arrows out of the quiver/drawing the blade from the sheath) They also expect it to be extremely customizable, so that your idle animation is the weapon selected (such as Impervium katana) being sheathed as opposed to it always being the legacy katana in the sheath, no matter what weapon you've chosen. If they're ever able to do these, they want to do it *right* (unlike Champions Online), such as it being dynamic and having the extreme customization. It's not on the schedule now. -
Based on how recent leaks have gone and our feedback on them, I think it's pretty safe to say that it doesn't matter if something is in it's earliest stages of development, that's how it's, for the most part, going to be on Live. Especially since there is no Open Beta on these story arcs, and I don't even know if there's a Closed Beta for 'em, either.

I'm just a little disappointed that this came right after the fall of one of the nation's greatest heroes, THE Statesman. Hardly anything in the arc actually dealt with his demise. Life just went on for everyone else as we blissfully ignore the fact he died not too long ago. I only ran this as a villain, but you'd think that your character's street cred would soar, considering A. you're at the scene of the crime, and B. I doubt Darrin Wade came out to the public and said "I did it! I killed him!"
I was kind of hoping this arc would go in a different direction, with the Phalanx hunting your villain down to bring them to justice, all sorts of common villains flocking to you to bank on your status and suck up to you, and Recluse trying to bring you in for questioning. All the while you're trying to seek vengeance against Wade and Wade's using the chaos to continue with his plans. But this story just kind of fell flat. It was all about you gaining a new minion that promises they won't backstab you, and fighting some random villains as I think I lured Psyche into a trap? I didn't even really know, considering you don't bump into her at all until the very end, when she's already trapped. -
*SPOILERS*
On it's own, this chapter was alright for story development. But the thing that bugged me was this came right after one of the biggest moments in CoH history. Statesman had died. But it just felt like it almost completely ignored that. Aside from Nemesis attacking Portal Corp, which was kinda out of left field, no real mention was made of it. At least villain side, that is. You'd think your street cred would've soared considering your villain was at the scene when it happened, and I doubt Darrin's come forth to claim responsibility.
As for the story itself, all I gotta say is I'm more interested in "Who Won't Die" than "Who Will Die." -
Quote:I think the devs were probably just thinking "People want Dark Astoria content. We're gonna revamp Dark Astoria, and pack it with all new content. So we should probably make sure we make the zone dark." But your justification's cool, too.I like it. I associate it with the coming storm, and the darkness is Paragon slipping into a darker age, which will include the heroes dukeing it out with The Battalion. I think the darkness in newer zonesis a very good representative of that, but it might not be what the devs were thinking about when they designed the zones.
Going alongside the darkness, I'm half hoping to see the heroes lose. Call me a pesimest, but it'd be more original, for sure. -
As long as Beam Rifles can get the Rikti Rifle, I'll be set.
