I would not mind tying the storylines together a bit better but could we resist the 'darker and grittier' idea?
To be fair, new Atlas actually got apartment buildings. It even has a small district comprised entirely of these apartments. And the buildings themselves are pretty real looking, and not utopian or shiny like the skyscrapers. I wouldn't mind seeing these buildings get put in Kings Row, maybe dirty them up a bit more beforehand.

I played a Rogue as well, and I also turned down help whenever possible. But when it came time for the big finale, I said "Aw **** it." and let the NPCs help me fight our way to Mot. I got Lord Recluse, Blue Steel, Super Devoured Pyriss, Honoree, and I think Lady Grey? Can't remember the fifth person clearly.

The Lord Recluse ally in Dark Astoria doesn't summon pets at all. Just fires lasers and claws people with his spider legs.
  4. Yeah, get those feathers off of the dinosaurs before putting them in CoH, please.

Honestly, though, I don't even think I'd actually want dinos in CoH as an enemy group purely because it'd seem a little too silly and out there for the game's overall theme. CoH tends to be more serious than, say, a game like CO where random dinosaurs fit in perfectly. But as costume parts, they'd be jawesome. Just, ya know, without feathers.

    D/A too dark

Are you sure it's the mission maps? I had zero trouble seeing when running through the DA content, even at the parts that are supposed to be darkest and foggiest. Have you tried checking out the brightness, contrast, and gamma settings on your game or monitor?

You manage to fend both off enough to push Hamidon back and Cole finally confronts you, trying to take on too much power from the Well and goes all One-Winged Angel on us.

Beat Well Avatar Cole half to death, when a weakened Hamidon then infects Cole, making him even more monstrous than before with tentacles and stuff, and now we face down a Super Well Empowered HamidonCole.

No Adds for this one, no other objectives, only FINAL DESTINATION! I mean beating Cole and Hamidon.
Also, the trial map should use rain. And have lightning in the background.

Also, if we get giant mecha, I will be playing This non-stop for a week.
Iunno, I'd rather have beating Cole be a story arc. That way players can actually personally get involved in the destruction of Praetoria's tyrannical government. As it is right now, the Praetoria story line is not personal at all, with you just being a grunt in a massive army of Incarnate soldiers.

Give us a story that goes into detail how their society is collapsing, with Primals winning the war, but Cole and his remaining forces not giving in. They plan to to stage one last offensive wave at us with everything they've got. Let our character be the one to stand out, cripple Cole's army, steal valuable tech and blueprints if we're villainous while saving civilians and converting Loyalists if we're heroic, defeat Cole's remaining lieutenants, and march right up to his throne to face the man head on. Have him try to use his diplomacy to convert us, while we proudly state the various reasons we've come so far. Let us get into an epic fight with a beefed up Tyrant and his powerful Olympian Guards in a truly unique and challenging battle for both soloists and teamers alike, to give us an actual, memorable fight that won't just be farmed constantly every day and be ruined because of that.

Then, with Cole's glorious defeat, Primals are victorious and Praetoria can flourish with a new leadership. And at that moment, the sonic barriers finally come crashing down as an enraged Hamidon finally tries to devour Praetoria now that it's champion has fallen and their deal is through. With no defenses left to the society, it'll be up to the most powerful fighters Primal Earth has to offer to fend off this truly powerful beast of epic proportions. And bam, final Praetorian iTrial, no holds barred as you fight what seems like the planet itself as Praetorian Hamidon gives it his all to destroy you and the rest of humanity. Could even have it start at the top of Tyrant's tower as you watch the Hamidon, out in the distance, crash the barriers and invade.

Actually, as much as I love seeing the terrible, old buildings in this game get replaced, I have to agree that Kings Row does an outstanding job as is conveying that feeling of it being a slummish, back alley part of Paragon City. I only have a couple issues with it, one being I wish the police HQ had an awesome interior, kind of like City Hall only filled with all sorts of police officers and superheroes not obsessed with glory, but hard at work. That way it's a real nice contrast to Atlas Park's NPC heroes. That, and there needs to be more community buildings, like you mentioned. Maybe even toss in a couple of those dingy apartment buildings the new AP got. They'd fit in real well.

But I'd honestly love to see Kings Row get a new, actual story arc involving PPD, gang wars and violence, drug smuggling and distribution, and an overall behind-the-scenes plot that alludes to higher level content and enemy groups without actually having you come in contact with them just yet. Hell, even toss in some Crey and start actually having Crey be "good guys" in the public image like they're supposed to be, while they conduct secret crimes in the background.
  9. It's vague and left open to interpretation so that the devs don't say "Hey, you have dark powers? Then it has to come from this for this reason!"

This is an 8 year old game well past its heyday, how much longer do any of you think content can be churned out at its current rate before the game goes into maintenance mode?
People have been saying this game will die since it first started. I don't see it shutting down anytime soon, regardless of what any player might think or say. Especially considering both CO and DCU were failures, CoH is really the only good and successful superhero MMO out there.

As to gating certain content behind a VIP lock, non-VIPs still get two new story arcs in the 20-30 range for heroes and villains, so it's not like they're completely left out. It's just DA is incarnate content, and incarnates are reserved for VIPs. They're running a business, not everything can be given away. Especially now that you can play nearly the entire game's worth of content without having to pay a dime.

But I do agree that marketing really needs to figure out that it's charging way too much for little things. I just don't think that will kill this game as much as anything else people claimed will kill this game has.

I was thinking that, and it could be true, but the tentacles are in the water and are only tentacles, which is exactly how we fight the Kraken in the DA arc. Whereas with Hami, we seem seem to encounter him more through infected creatures, avatars, and monsters.

Plus it just seems to make more sense for someone to grab this savage monster out of the water, possibly control it, and sic it on someone as opposed to uprooting this massively overpowered beast that has sentience and control over nearly an entire planet, and tell it to fight time travelers that have nothing to do with it or it's domain. But this is all just my theory and opinion.
  12. Just a theory, but those tentacles seen around the crashed Ouroboros used the same model as the Kraken tentacles in the mission where you rescue Marcus on his ship. So either the devs like to use the same model for a number of different creatures, which is possible, or perhaps Dream Doctor released the Kraken into the waters below Ouroboros?

Yes, you are right, these is a lot more chance of finding a bug when something goes Live. Not to sound like a stuck record, but are you honestly telling me that after they added i22 to the Live server build, they could not, or would not, spend THIRTY minutes to do a quick, basic in house test? You know..like roll a few characters with dark affinity and see the powers are wrong?

'If' they spent all their time fixing bugs? Oh, so..having them 'busting' out a fix, for the bugs that went Live..does not count as them..you know..spending time fixing bugs? Uh huh.
Why the hostility? I'm not trying to argue, here.

Just because they may be aware of a bug doesn't mean they can just immediately jump on it. The dev team work on a schedule, and have to do things based on their set schedule. If fixing Dark Affinity comes after fixing something else, then Dark Affinity will be fixed when it's time comes. You'll just have to wait for that.

As to that last sentence there, you seem to have confused me saying "If they spent all their time..." with "If they spend any time...". The point I was making was that if they spent every moment they have available on fixing bugs, then content wouldn't get made and updates would slow dramatically. They can still come out with fixes every now and again, but, like I said they work on a schedule. Those fixes come out when the team gets the time to work on them. Just file a petition or post the issue in the Bugs section of the forums and move on. Don't stress about it.

Really..if they said..'oh Issue 2 will be held back a week, to fix some last minute bugs,' surely that would be better?
No such thing as a bug free update for two reasons.

One, something always happens. There's always something that pops up because tons more people play on Live than Beta, therefore the chance of stumbling upon certain bugs rises by a lot due to being in a much more active and diverse player environment. Not to mention updates always tend to react differently went put on live servers than they do when put on Beta.

Two, they have to get the update out some time. If they spent all their time fixing bugs, we'd be seeing issues with far less content being slowly churned out over far more time. Locating and then finding a suitable solution to fix these glitches isn't always as simple as putting a band aid on it. Just gotta take the good with the bad, and at least the team has said they will be busting out a fix for it.

All we have in reference to these bugs is that they will be fixed next patch, next patch, and as today rolled by and there was no patch I wonder when will the next patch be? Are we talking i22.5 next patch? I think a little more information on when these things will be fixed would be very much appreciated as I know I can't be the only person wondering and waiting for these fixes.
Bugs takes time to fix. It'll be fixed when it'll be fixed.

People are upset because they will be having less fun than they would have had with a new power set. So, to boil it down, people are angry because they feel they are going to be having less fun and fun is good.

I am sure that answer will not be good enough for you though.
So you're saying new powersets, full teams, and double xp is fun.

We're still getting the new powersets. Despite the fact that the devs did all the work on the powersets and people are raging because they aren't giving us those sets right now, the devs are still giving us these sets. Just not at the time the players demand it.

We've always had teaming. Double XP weekend doesn't unlock the ability to team and play with buds. You can find them at any given time through broadcast, global friends, and chat channels. Besides, once the new powersets launch there'll be a ton of people playing them and forming teams regardless of if it's double xp weekend or not. Happens every time.

And xp in this game is laughably easy to get nowadays, anyway. With DFB, DiB, Patrol XP, AE farms, and those temp powers that double XP gain for a period of time, you can easily hit level 50 within a few days. I typically get my characters from 1 to the 20s within a casual day of making them just from those sewer runs.

The devs are doing nothing to ruin anyone's fun. It's the players getting so worked up that are ruining their own fun. So again, why are a few of you folks getting so angry?

  18. Is Gabe Newell in charge of marketing over there or something? Ten dollars for this?

No, it shouldn't be a surprise. People get angry over anything on these forums. It's just a game, the powerset will be coming out, it'll only take a little time. And you're not entitled to these sets, or even a reason on why they aren't coming out exactly when you want them out. If you really have your heart that dead set on one powerset in this game to the point it is legitimately making you angry, take a step away from the game for a week or two and do something else to calm down. Then come back when the set is out and be happy. But getting this worked up, tossing out swears, and saying you're "pissed" will do nothing to help the situation.
