I think it's a great idea, and a simple way of expanding the player-base. Good work NC

"Could this be something to do with the fact that they are building 3 new sites for EU and with the development time going into that then the current site may have been a tadge neglected of late?"
But they've still got time to do news updates - there have been several in the past few days. So why is there no post about the 'true' reason behind Zombies invading? -
"Weve done a lot of quality of life features, like revamping the Badge UI"
GG: "I think this might be a sorting filter, like the contact list..."
I hope so too. Sorting my badges by 'earned' and 'in progress' would help. A percentage would be nice, too (rather than just a bar) - but I suppose that's just never going to happen.
*Dreams* One day, badges will be used as chest logos.... *drools* -
I would've have said "would it kill them to put a paragraph or two on the website, just to put out an official 'story' on what's happening?"
Then I realised:
+ No updates other than the odd news item
+ Out of data fansite listings
+ Not a single mention of the NEC / Memorobilia... and that's in less than a month
So am I surprised that they haven't put the effort in to gives us 'content'? No. It seems like the community / content teams aren't quite what they used to be. Hmm, funny that. -
I demand an explanation. It's not like the Government would just say "It's halloween. Expect Zombies. It'll probably pass"
I think we need an explanation -
God, you're right. I was so detached from the Halloween stuff this year (only really keen on just geting the new badges) that I didn't notice the supreme lack of story!
WHERE'S THE STORY? -
"Since Castle has posted hinting at base changes being linked to CoP/Base Raids etc..."
But if that's the case, I'm going to want all of that 'lost' prestige to upgrade my defences... -
I'm about to hit 33 months, and yeah, I have some damn fond memories.
I too, remember that tingle when I appeared in Atlas and heard the music. I now run with music off, and have my own in the background (thanks, Winamp) - but every time I introduce someone to the game, I turn the music back on for them - everyone needs to experience Atlas Park that way. It's tradition.
I remember the thrill of watching three or four teams of heroes all racing across Independence Port to take down Lusca, back when GM-hunting was dangerous and popular!
I remember the first time I found a CoT cave, came out of a tunnel, and saw a 'Temple-of-Doom'-esque bridge and the entrance to a mytsical, ancient temple that would make Lara Croft drool.
I remember (more recently) when the Police Band and Safeguard missions came in, and they linked a sewer to a cave to an office building, and realising how much more 'real' it seemed (why would the buglars always go through the front door and then take the lift five floors up?)
And of course, some other amazing things:
Seeing the crashed Rikti Ship for the first time.
Seeing Eden, and learning about what caused this nature-overload.
Defeating the Master Of The Statesman's Task Force within a week of it being released, on the first run.
Cracking the top ten on heroes listed on Badge-Hunter for Defiant (and then holding that position).
Generally - happy memories!
Thanks CoH - I intend to be around for a long time, since you've yet to let me down -
I agree that when I see other people's bases, I wonder if they're even aware of what they *could* be doing with them. Some of them are just large rooms on large plots without a single good use of any of them. We've always sworn to make ours functional first, decorative later - mainly because originally we really had to scrape together prestige for each tiny upgrade - getting an extra telepad required celebration, back when the SG was small. Now we can have an entire weapons system overhaul and not bat an eyelid!
It might be good for *some* people to have a spring clean - but what about those of us who just want our bases to stay as they are? Those that have already *put* the work in to make the best use of their base? -
So - Recluse's Victory then, mereman? Pillboxes and Villain smashing?
-
YAAAAAAAAY
*Ahem* I may have used that as part of the 'come to the NEC for the SG meet' bait -
Ok - so let me get this straight:
We have to sell what we have, and put the exact same item *back* where it was, just to reclaim prestige that we went out of our way to earn, and rightly deserve to have returned to us, with the prices being lowered?
And - just so I'm clear... items that came from crafted salvage...do we have to re-craft them? Elite Turrets take TEN Unstable Rad Pistols EACH - that's a LOT of influence just to re-buy salvage that I didn't want to re-buy (so odds are I'm *not* going to be re-crafting the turrets just to reclaim a bit of inf...)
My SG has gone from meeting on the roof of a skyscraper in Steel Canyon, to slowly scraping together prestige for a small base, and then expanding on both that and our SG as time has progressed. Our development as a group is partially reflected by the expansion of our base. It is, to us, a big part of our Super Group as a whole. I agree with the previous posts - this is only encouraging new base builders - it's a spit in the face of those that have put the effort in over the years. For a game that rewards its veteran players, this is a cheap workaround... -
I'd go with DTWT. Unless you're looking for suggestions - then I'd go with AVERT, or similar.
-
I'll be there. We've turned this event into something to get our SG together, so it's quite a big weekend for some of us, meeting in R/L for the first time!
GR - Are you still planning to give away the PPD codes as you mentioned in another thread? -
Fansite alliance, Fansite alliance, Fansite alliance, Fansite alliance, Fansite alliance, Fansite alliance...
UPDATE! -
Well, if anyone with a 40-50 on Defiant (hero-side) wants to give me a hand smashing pillboxes...? :P
-
Yay for the return of the comic! (If it ever happens!)
-
Well, there you go
Upon completing Mender Silos TF with five people in SG mode, we unlocked the Scorpion's Surprise SG badge and the turret base item. -
Golden Girl has a one *character* SG, and a base to go with it.
As for inviting alts - yeah, that'd be fiddly -
Well, this weekend we're running the Meder Silos TF, to see if beating recluse there, works.
If it doesn't, then we'll try police band/bank raids. I'll keep you posted. -
I'm not convinced of that at all - my Super Group badge list has the badge bar listed, and we're 40% of the way through it - suggesting that two kills have been made, and three more are needed.
It is available to heroes, therefore. Just not through STF. -
Ugh - it seems like *everything* is happening on this day. I'm hoping to still attend, but there's a chance I will be pulled away. It's a daytime thing, so I'm sure I can make it for some of it.
-
Yeah, I could've corrected you on that one. It's rewarded... it's just a bit weird since you can take on LR in so many places
-
So - paragron wiki says:
"Heroes can make progress on this badge by defeating the version of Lord Recluse found on the Peregrine Island Safeguard (as of Issue 9) or on the Mender Silos Task Force (as of Issue 11)."
Can anyone confirm this? -
Ok, so, Scorpion's Surprise is clearly *not* activated / earned by completing Statesman's Task Force in SG mode, as my SG discovered last night. This, I found surprising. So - that leaves only one question - how do you unlock this badge? Is it by:
a) Taking down Lord Recluse in Bank Missions (if/when he generates as the AV?)
OR
b) Taking him on during Mender Silo's TF (do you fight him here? It's the one TF I've never done...)
If (a), then is there a surefire way to get him to appear? I've tried a few approachs (full team of 8, full team of 8 on invincibile) and nothing seems to work. However, I've run into him on one by accident before - can't for the life of me work out the specifics, though!
