Merchandise Charity Poll

Lets just say, (for Imagination's sake), there was a range of merchandise available that mixed your player-suggested mottos, City of Kittenz Imagery and parodies of the Issue updates in a homage to all things City of Heroes/Villains.
What charity would you (as a potential customer) be happy for the funds to be donated to?:

Draw the World Together

Cancer Research UK

Great Ormond Street Hospital

...All worthy causes I know, just thought I'd get the community's opinion as to what you'd prefer.

I think I'd rather go for Draw The World Together, just cause of the link. I wouldn't have any issue with any of them though

"Well, they found my diary today.
They were appropriately appalled
at the discovery of the eight victims
They're now putting it all together.
Women wrapped in silk
with one leg missing
Eight legs, one body, silk,
spider, brilliant!"

I know some people don't like Cancer Research (but that isn't me) so maybe Cancer Research shouldn't include it.

I say Great Ormond Street Hospital, theyre a really great charity and hospital.

I'm in the Draw the World Together camp - firstly because of the links with NCSoft and CoX, but also it's not country-specific. As the Maestro problems thread has shown - we have people all over Europe (and of course there's always our colonial cousins ! )

Unfortunately, as fabulous a charity as Great Ormond Street is, it is seen as a UK charity...

Just my tuppen'th!

I'd go with DTWT. Unless you're looking for suggestions - then I'd go with AVERT, or similar.

I believe the funds should go to all three equally divided. Why play favourites?

I was thinking of other worldwide charites. Perhaps UNICEF or something like that?

The advantage of DTWT is that we actually get to SEE the product AND know what they do because of their close linkages with the EU game community.

One of the biggest issues with charities is very often people who contribute want to feel involved... part of the team, and a lot of charities either aren't able to communicate that - a classic case is the Tsunami appeal a couple of years ago where just about every pub, petrol station and shop collected money for the appeal but trace that money and it just vanishes into the ether. Other organisations, for example the RSPCA and Oxfam are actually very good at communicating how the money donated to them is used (but conversely, that costs them a fair bit.)

with DTWT we kinda already know that and can reach out and touch the guys at the sharp end and find out what they've done with their money, how their fundraising projects work etc and we can get involved.

But, given the nature of this game, if not DTWT, then I would probably have suggested something like the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal: http://www.poppy.org.uk/ (and/or regional equivalents for the rest of the EU members) because it supports guys who've been real heroes and literally put life and limb on the line to keep us safe. (Not to mention the apposite timing.)
