Look, my team of rabid PvP Empaths! A gaggle of Brutes! Charge them down!
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, I've always wanted to see how an organised team of Empaths would do in PvP.
With stacked Fortitudes, Recovery Auras and Regeneration Auras along with Clear Minds and Adrenalin Boosts on tap and (of course) huge amounts of healing, I think they could be pretty nasty...

Bah, now I'm seriously wondering how good it'd be - wish someone had mentioned this before the RV event - perfect testing opportunity! -
Well... depends what they wanted to be uber at. Ice has always been king of aggro and battlefield control. He's not as tough, but teamed with an attentive Empath, even in I4 could turn tricks that'd make an Inv. Tanker cry.

This is the reason my scrapper has only disembowel, hack and HS from his primary.

...And Build Up, I hope -
Yes, I'd definitely look further into dropping mutation - it's situational, and you're what I'd consider a debuffer, not a picker-upper-and-duster-offer - more debuffs can only be a good thing.
-
I suspect the Door, which blocks LOS and means you can't target the ground outside, will put paid to it. Dunno, though.
-
Challenge and Provoke. But then, I'm not very good at planning builds.
-
I don't have the xp of the OP, of course, but at level 19 I'm hankering for fitness. I dropped the AoE's with the freespec, simply because they were such a huge end drain, and I'm still finding I wheeze after each and every mob.

Ignite - Creates a static patch of flame. Useful for blocking things like stairs, doorways, and other things, but Caltrops will do the job too. Also has a fear component that will scatter carefully herded mobs, so not the best. Flamethrower has better damage and is much more useful.

Been trying to think of ways to make my AR/dev be not-gimped, and it's tricky - Can Ignite not be used with Web grenade? -

Drop Slice, you have a better deal spamming Build Up, Head Splitter, Disembowel then Hack THEN, if you want, an occasional Slash if needed with Hasten.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd take issue with that, Slice is better damage, and for PvP, you're looking at burst damage. Even with Hasten up, Hack, Disembowel, Headsplitter leaves a little bit of waiting time, Laser Beam Eyes and Slice almost cover this admirably, and with Parry thrown in you've got a constant attack chain.
Laser Beam Eyes does put your sword away, sadly, but Tyrant uses it so it must be good. -
Fair comments all.
I'm usually very open-minded about what goes on in PvP zones: I consider anyone in a PvP zone to be fair game.
I just don't see what was in it for the ambushers in this case - Personally I go into PvP for a fight, not to repeatedly destroy people with no chance of fighting back.
If they were just after rep, why not get their mates to swap to villains and have a go - fun AND productive.
Ah well.
As many have said, the game wasn't designed for PvP, and even in team PvP I've never been in a situation where the opposing sides have felt balanced. Generally, the fights are won before they're fought.
It would have been nice if the devs had taken the game in the direction it's strongest in: Co-op play. That's what drew me to the game (being extraordinarily non-competitive).
Perhaps the third City of... game will take it back in that direction a bit. -
I'd say doing it repeatedly, where the target has no chance to escape, despite being asked to stop, would be griefing.
-
Very unheroic experience.
Like every other bad game experience, ask the people doing ti to stop via broadcast or tells. If they don't, they are deliberately ruining your fun and I suspect should be petitioned. I would, anyway. -
Time/Date dependent, Wilf'd love to show himself up for the plb he is.
-
Pfft, DB, like there's anything that falls into that category.
-
Having recently filled my alt slots on Defiant and shifted to Union characters, I can help out with some of this. Have around 15 million influence I'd be happy to trade for Union inf.
-
Get neither, and respec out of reconstruction and Dull Pain while you're at it. Drop the slots from Integration. Fully slot revive, take all of your primary + flurry + air superiority, challenge and provoke.
Then play "Who can grab the most aggro" anytime you're teamed with a Tanker.
They love it, trust me. -
Great fun, though disappointed I only got to use Revive thrice. Thanks everyone for a fun zone event - THAT is what GM's are for!
-ManPants (aka Hobnob Aramis) -
Ah, well should be ace even without -res.
Sonics is lucky, it gets around the evil conundrum that I faced with Kin Def epics - Power for Buildup (And evil transference) or Psychic for aggro-less FS? -
Most of the time I won't be running Leadership - I suspect I'll only fire up Tactics against nems and significantly higher-level foes, and possibly Assault vs. AV's - they're only there to get me to Vengeance
-
Fair dinkum, but I don't think it can be compared to sacrificing Tanker primaries. For a Tanker, Armour is the main reason they are there (well... for most tanks, anyway
). For controllers, Control is. Much like a Tanker might put off taking offensive powers until he either has his defences sorted or until he has space to take some (Tanker builds, like Controllers builds, I've found to be very tight in the early levels), I'm putting off my DeBuffs (Which, while they'll help my control no end are not the be all and end all of the controller) until I have the power picks free to take them, the endurance to run them, and the SO's to make them effective.
Basically, I couldn't take everything before 24, so something had to give, and the Rad toggs were the most likely candidate. -
My reasoning for taking RI late and TK early... RI I'd be using on just about every mob, and I was finding it a huge and constant endurance drain - TK isn't up as often, and when used I usually drop it to either position a group of foes, or to push them back a bit to give us breathing space - I'm finding that uing it irregularly is endurance efficient and tactically sound!
RI, on the other hand, is good before SO's, but not great. So I'd rather wait til I can jam an end reduction or two in RI before committing myself to it.
Basically, my endurance situation is not great, and taking a couple of hungry togles earlier won't help that, so I chose to concentrate on control until after stamina. -
Slot it 2xacc then recharge or hold duration. You need to get the power to stack to hold a boss; either by reapplying it quickly or to get the first hold to still be in effect when you drop the second.
