  1. I have let my account go free, and it reports I have 1 transfer available. However, I can't use it on my character on Freedom.

Is there some rule I don't know about for restrictions on server transfers?
  2. I only see one drawback to this sweet revamp:

Where will I send my level 5s to practice their Mad Tiptoeing Skilz?
  3. Thanks, Peg_On_Justice. That's a great, and monumental, guide. Pumpkinhead, my own Fire/Fire (and on Justice), will be studying this.
  4. Snomobile is a Mutant Ice/Super Strength Tanker on Infinity. This is his old backstory:

    [ QUOTE ]
Up north, where the land is frozen all the time, there was once a boy born unlike the others. I had an uncanny affinity for the cold, and the snow, and the ice. It didn't sap my strength like it did the others; it made me even stronger.
    .
After a few hundred years of using my abilities just to help the tribe, and to make my own life easier, we were 'discovered' by the white people. They came from the warm lands, and showed us a different world. They also exterminated the tribe, in one way and another.
    .
With most of my people gone, and our way of life with them, I wandered south to see what the explorers had described, and perhaps to avenge my kin. But the warm people, mostly, are not bad. So I use my powers to stop the ones who are.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But I'm not satisfied with it. How can I change it for the better? I don't even think I want to be an eskimo any longer.

You just quoted a post from over 2 years ago concerning a system that has changed since then.

    Just pointing that out.

NO, really, Smashmouth. What changed about exemplaring between then and now?

He did it on purpose, if you look at his other thread about necroposting. Hence why I reported his thread, and expect this to get locked soon. +1

Really? What changed about exemplaring between then and now? No XP, Debt at 2x til zero, then Inf. That all I ever remember since Exing became a thing.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
I think a more rigorous explanation of terms might clarify the point I'm making:

    [ QUOTE ]
Let there be a level L character with X experience points, requiring N to next level.

    We define progress P to be the delta-X between t1 and t2, where P = X(t2) - X(t1) and t2 > t1

    We define rate R to be the R divided by t2 - t1, where R = P / t2 - t2 = X(t2) - X(t1) / t2 - t1 and t2 > t1

    The character levels when X >= N

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thus, if I exemplar and pay off 10 billion debt, according to the definition above, I have not may any progress per se, because X(t2) - X(t1) is still exactly zero.

My rate is also exactly zero, because 0 divided by anything is still zero.

However, my potential rate in the future may be higher, but that is not the definition of progress in any sense of the above. All the time spent exemplaring actually has made no change in either variables P or R which is all that matters for leveling.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    EXCEPT!

If you have X experience, Y debt, and the next level is N, you are N-X + min(Y,N-X) away from level. And any time spent reducing Y to 0 is progress.

The only question is: at what level Li, for i=1 to 50, do you kill a white minion (or your preferred mix of color and M/L/B) most quickly? That is your optimum level. Get exemplared down or sidekicked up as needed.

I guess "toon" is quicker to type than "character", this is internet after all.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Which is why most people use "char" or "alt". Bugs Bunny is a toon. A video game character ain't. Unless it -is- Bugs Bunny or his ilk.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Which brings me to Cute Zoot. She actually is an anthropomorphic bunny child who came to Paragon from Disney's Toontown(tm). When I speak of her, "toon" really does mean "cartoon".

I never got the "toon" thing either. To me it's a bit too frivolous a term to be applying to any of MY characters, but what the heck, if other people think of it that way, I can't stop 'em.
    Buttered Cat
    Nerf-Herder - Spines/Regen

    [/ QUOTE ]

'Cause "Buttered Cat" and "Nerf-Herder" are such serious names?

    [/ QUOTE ]

There is a rather huge difference between "frivolous" and "humorous". Even if you don't like the joke.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh, I like the joke. I just don't buy the "huge difference between 'frivolous' and 'humorous'". Those are narrow shades of meaning, dear.

It is my sad duty to inform everyone that August will be my last month with City of Heroes and City of Villains.

I am taking over community management of Tabula Rasa full-time as of Sept. 1st.

    We'll all miss you.

You be sure to tell us here when the TR boards open, yes? We all want to be the first to sign up and say "hi".

I officially have a new term for raising threads from the grave:

    Threadomancy!

    Sateen says:
I've heard "necroposting" as well. I suppose necroposting is the act, and Threadomancy is the class of actions.

I bet "threadjacking" and "threadkilling" are other acts of Threadomancy (dum dum DUMMM).

    Time Travel

    [ QUOTE ]
This question is more for the Devs, though is anyone can point out a link for me that would be cool too.

I remember a few months back Statesman had mentioned that not only will we be able to travel to other dimesions and eventually space, but also travel through time. Is this still on the books or has it been put aside for other ideas?

Will Portal Corporation eventually be able to crack the Time Barrier and send heroes into the future to stop threats to the past? (Or vice versa) Will we be able to travel through time and meet ourselves in the future or past? Or even get lost in time?

I hope the whole Time Travel aspect is still being developed and something we will eventually see in game.

    [/ QUOTE ]
That sounds fun. Can we travel in time yet? Maybe in one of the Portal missions I haven't yet done?

Is it the easy kind of time travel, when you fight dinosaurs, and morlocks, or the hard kind, where you travel to last week and kick your own patootie?

Course with Portals to alternate universes you already have pseudo time travel: you can travel to another dimension that is currently just like this one was last month, complete with an alternate last-month-you. Then you can go there and do anything without worrying about those troublesome paradoxen.

Oh, [censored]. I just realized how many characters I'm going to have to log on and off to get this badge universally.

*bangs head against wall* WHY? WHY MUST I PLAY SO MANY ALTS?

I guess this would be a good day to roll my magical girl, too, so it can be the first badge she earns.

    [/ QUOTE ]
My thoughts exactly. I'm at about a 2 minute login to login, so that's 86*2 = 164 minutes at least.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
    Yay! Info!

EDIT: There's a typo in the intro. You don't "council" people. You counsel them.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Sez you. Every noun can be verbed.

Obviously, "to council" someone means to put them on a council.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
FYI, we've got a LOT more folks here at Cryptic working on things. the vast majority of people here don't post, though. I was here for almost a year before I got 'Red Named.'

As for why I use _Castle_ instead of Castle, someone else has Castle has a board posting name.

    [/ QUOTE ]
You should use your mighty Red-Name powers and steal "Castle" from that other fellow.

Rough him up, while you are at it.

    Pantsless Hero

    [ QUOTE ]
The majority of my heroes don't wear pants.

    Picture of the Pantslessness

I'm glad they're adding an option for it though so I don't have to choose funky colors to do it.

    [/ QUOTE ]
That's not pantsless. Damfino is pantsless.

    Pantsless Hero

Hey, you who know. How can I get my male toon to have bare legs? I have the new toga, but my leggings stick out from under it, and I can't find a costume option that has skin for legs.

    What am I missing?
  21. So I tested with several of my dozen blasters and I collected some data. Then I made a Graph

These blasters ranged from 7 to 39, with a variety of primaries.

First, I can confirm the earlier chart; it looks like you get about +10% when you are at 50% health. and +25% at 40% health. Then it goes waayy up.

However, note that in a couple of hours of trying I only got 1 shot off under 20% health; death is a real factor down there. At least when you are trying to monitor your health and defiance and damage #s and write them on scraps o paper.

Also, even though the defiance meter isn't moving between 100% health and 50%, you are getting some slight benefits to damage there.

My conclusion: in view of this damage function, I'm not at all unhappy with my defiance damage. I can get the 5% that a scrapper gets from his CRITICAL, and I can match a corruptor's SCOURGE. And I can get silly damage for taking silly risks. I only wish the Defiance bar in the UI would move more.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Also, as far as I can tell defiance is most assuredly broken in one way. It doesn't enhance rain effects.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Didn't I see a post around that Rains and some similar AoE/location type attacks were being changed to fix that? I'm sure I did.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
Giving blasters defiance is like giving a diet pill to someone who's morbidly obese by crushing it up and sprinkling it over a pizza.

    [/ QUOTE ]
That's the most beautiful simile I've seen all day.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]

I frequently find myself wishing I had Defiance on my Corruptor. ...

    [/ QUOTE ]

And I frequently find myself hoping to Scourge on all of my characters.

    [/ QUOTE ]
There's an idea here: How about if your inherent power was something you chose at character creation time, or maybe at level 10?

You could have tanks with Critical, and blasters with Fury, and all kinds of novel things.
