Because CoH Faces is back up!
Ok so maybe it's been up for a while now and I just randomly thought to click the link, but meh. -
(Prepaid) Lifetime Subscription is the axe on the neck of any MMO, period.
-
Does anybody remember those long weekends where we'd group log out of toons with an agreed relog time because TF's took like 4+ hrs to run?

*starts handing out bleach filled super soakers*
Ok, time to clean up here... -
Quote:Note that's a difference of 26 pixels vertically (if I remember right). Now I don't have a pixel ruler, but I'm pretty sure that's the number relating to the height of the taskbar. I dont' care what math you use, Full Screen uses more pixels than Windowed and with Windows' logic this means that there Will be things like icon movement when going from Full Screen to Windowed and back. I'm not saying that You're doing it (as I don't see you moving your trays like in a chess game cheat), but that I can see how this can happen quite easily.1) It did not change to my "previous setting" as my previous setting was "1920x1080(desktop)"/full screen. It changed to 1920x1054, a setting that I have never used or seen happen before.
You would think it would either stay the same resolution when I clicked "un-maximize" or switch to at least a slightly smaller resolution, or, at the bare minimum, the window should be anchored to the upper left of my screen such that the bottom is cut off by my taskbar instead of the top cut off by my screen edge.
2) I have NEVER dragged the game off the edge of my screen. I didn't make this happen.
I actually had the same thing happen to me because I accidentally changed the output options (I was using my HDTV during i22 base edits) and toggled back to my laptop screen. Since my HDTV sits at full 1080p and my laptop at 1440x900, I definitely saw some movement, even if not alot.
Edit: all that said, there have been instances ingame where screen placements (trays, etc) have been screwed up, but it's normally a global issue. -
Quote:And I have some land in Florida to sell you as well. ;-)Sadly you may need to wait it out. I was told by a NCsoft staff member they can't manually demote/kick people from your SG.
Yet ™.
Edit: I was ok it seems when I logged in so it looks like an isolated situation. Just curious, but how hard is it going to be for you to get the next lowest person to promote you above them? -
Quote:This as the more read/writes to a drive, the more scrambled it gets.HDR2nd, I would suggest that you first do a defrag (I love Defraggler cause it's really fast) then do the repair thing, then try and enter the game. If that doesn't work, go to your CoH folder and delete Coh.checksum. Start the game client and it will rebuild the borked files. Good luck, and don't give up!

It's been a long time since I had to do it, but if you Don't have an XP sp3 OS disc, then you need make one. When vista came out I bought this laptop and only had a copy of XP pre-SP1. It took me a week of reading online to get the right SATA drivers and instructions on how to Slipstream them onto the disc so that the drivers are loaded during boot and readible by the installation. I may have those links somewhere, but I've since acquired an XP sp3 disc so I'm not sure of the steps at this point.

Same here, but it's important to note that you only need the first worktable to craft. This means that a beginner's base need not spend alot on workshop stuff to get the porters. For red side I needed 2 porters (I think) while blue side took 4 (with room for two new zones).

I'm just curious as to why we didnt' see THIS thread at the top of the sub-forum?

Quote:God those are so helpful, I'm emailing all of the SG mates! :-pThere *can* be if you want: Overlay Zone Names to Telepad Beacons Cende [I16].
That's not a photoshopped screencap.
Edit: While I have the Overlays, it looks like the page is borked. :-/ -
Just an observation with Windows and resolution changes. I'm sure you've experienced this before, but you'll notice that windows likes to do things like rearrange your desktop icons when switching screen resolutions. More than likely this is what you're seeing even though all you're doing is moving between windowed and minimized. I've Never run in windowed mode (because when I play that's all I want to see) and have had limited issues toggling from desktop to game. Maybe I can throw you some tips and see how that works for you.
Go into the Launcher and add -maxinactivefps 5 to the game properties so that it essentially turns off the gfx usage while you're alt-tabing. As an alternative to alt-tab try WindowsKey-D to bring the desktop to the front (minimizing everything else) and Then choosing your browser from the taskbar. Manually adjust your virtual memory to 1.5x your physical (that "suggested" number that windows lists) in both the min/max sections of the custom box. Tone down the ingame gfx settings a little. Lastly, try the COH Helper and Hijack This tools and posting their results (hopefully someone else will explain that as I've never used them). -
What Terra said as the HD graphics drivers seem to be tricky (hense the "works with nVidia" slogan). Something that many don't think to check, but I'd download SpeedFan and see how hot your chips are getting as well. While nVidia chips (like those in my laptops) run this game well, they also run hot so I've had to get custom copper plates put on mine for heat disipation.

At first glance I see the following change(s) could help.
-Increase your virtual memory to 3067Mb (3Gb or whatever the number that windows suggests). When you change it make the number the same for the Min/Max options.
-Windows 7 and 2Gb of RAM is honestly not a good combo for gaming (my opinion).
-ATI cards seem to be "fun" to get just right for this game for some reason.
-Not that I've had issues with my Roxio virtual drive, but try turning off that virtual DVD drive and rebooting as well.
Overall my main concern with your setup is the limited memory as Win7 likes to take up about 1Gb-1.5Gb of RAM. -
I forget the "why", but every now and then this'll happen. Not often, but enough that I've seen it before. Only thing I can suggest is to try zoning, "/reloadgfx", or relogging. I think it has something to do with dropped packets (lost info from server to client) that results in your end not seeing bad guys. I've had this happen before to where it Looked like nobody was there, but that didn't jive with what my Health bar was showing. >.<

Quote:If the game finds any resolution issues, then it'll default to 800x600 @16bit color. If there are any minimum requirements below which the game will lock you out then they must be pretty low. Both my Acer Aspire One (3 year old entry level netbook) and my 2004 Shuttle will run the game (on absolute minimum settings for the netbook), although I was away yesterday and have not had a chance to try the Shuttle post I22.

I'm not sure what This is about, but That tells me you're either using an external display or set to the wrong frequency (from my understanding LCD screens are default to 60Hz). You may wanna turn off Hardware Acceleration. Either way it's a graphical issue since you're able to take a screenshot. Have you tried updating the drivers for the card?
-
Since it's been an hour, try again (double checking spelling, etc) and post results one way or the other in case someone has same issue.

Wow, I mean...yeah, the playerbase for This MMO has been much more fun to interact with than most online experiences I've ever worked with. From what I hear it's way better than certain online console experiences as well. -
If by you dropping there is no possible way to complete the Trial (IE: the four person simul click and #4 drops), then yes you need to be spanked. Otherwise stay as long as you can, but warn that you may not be able to go all the way.
-
Quote:So long as the instances are using "maxinactivefps 5" and not both being actively used (IE: not both windowed at same time), then 4Gb is tollerable, but not pretty. If this is what you're doing (IE: playing toon A, while toon B just noms XP), then you may wanna try the "stopinactivedisplay" thing too."4 GB RAM "
There is ur Problem.
each Coh Instance can use up to 1.7 Gig of RAM when they run for longer time. They start with 890 MB etc. but turn up higher the longer the instance runs.
Now u will say but 2 x 1.7 is maximum 3.4 which is truly correct but dont forget that your operating system and other tasks like antivirus software will use RAM too....
Another problem can be the settings of the Windows swap file on the Harddisk. If u let Windows manage it, it will slow everything down, its better to give the swap file a fixed size.
greetings

What Tex said and *bites*. Now go do what you know has to be done and give us something constructive to work on or I get the blow torch. ;-)

*crosses fingers* not yet, but I'm just now DL the patch. If you haven't already, relog. If that doesn't work (and honestly I'm not sure why it would, but still), then petition.
