So I updated city and then when it launched it gives me an error message saying, We have detected missing or corrupt files, please run the "Repair" option in NCsoft Launcher to fix this.

I ran the "Repair" button like 5 times then each time I launch i get the same message. Does anyone know how to fix this or have any advice. Just someone please help!!!

I had the same problem and spent all day with support people trying to fix it,still waiting to see if it works.I have an idea to try though.Open task manager and see if cityofheroes.exe is running,if it is end process and then try to repair it.This seems to have worked for me but I've been waiting for a while now for it to finish repairing to know for sure if it worked, but it's farther than I got earlier today.

What OS are you on? Are you running the NCsoft launcher with admin privileges?

I am on Win7 (32-bit) and I have admin priveleges. I even explicitly right-clicked on the launcher and hit "run as administrator". Over and over (on my thirteenth try... maybe lucky?) it will get to 99% patching, then encounter an error and quit. Then, when I try to repair, it will redo it up to that point, then hit the same exact error and do it again. Here's the error...

Quote:
Error Code: 58 (FileGroupApplicationErrorRollbackNotAttempted):

Errors occurred while applying the patch,

and a rollback was not attempted.

The product is likely in an inconsistent state and should be repaired or reinstalled.

The patch application errors are as follows:

Error Code: 57 (ErrorRepairingTargetFile):

File could not be repaired: C:\Program Files\NCsoft\City of Heroes\piggs\stage3c.pigg.
Any ideas? I'm really bummed about this, I was hoping to play after work.

Did you exit the launcher and restart it before trying to repair - it sounds like windows is holding a lock on that file and preventing it from being updated.

If that fails then try deleting the problem file and then repairing

Mind of Gaia lvl 50 Defiant's first Mind/Storm 'troller.
Deadly Doc 50 Dark/Dark Corr

I did both of those. It came up with a "missing file error" and said it would reacquire it, and then it ran straight into the same exact error as before.

OK a fix that worked for me is to manually change the settings file in the game directory to the lowest possible settings. Then launch the game and go directly to the new settings button (on the login screen) and adjust your settings and save it. It seems to fix the launching problem at least... (IDK why but the graphics settings seem to be defaulting VERY high on reinstall)

There use to be a way to go into safe mode with the old launcher. IDK or cant find the way to do it on the new one...

If there are any minimum requirements below which the game will lock you out then they must be pretty low. Both my Acer Aspire One (3 year old entry level netbook) and my 2004 Shuttle will run the game (on absolute minimum settings for the netbook), although I was away yesterday and have not had a chance to try the Shuttle post I22.

In Paragon City since June 2005.

I had this problem this afternoon. I solved it by rebooting my computer. I won't pretend it will work for everyone but it doesn't hurt to try it.

Good luck OP. I hope you get this straightened out quickly.

Right-click the game entry in the Launcher window and select Properties. In the window that comes up put a checkmark in the box labeled Launch in Safe Mode and click OK. Launch the game.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Black Pebble is my new hero.

Good news, everyone!

Now that I got that out of my system...

The launcher finally worked, and I'm getting ready to reroll my Dark/Dark defender into a Dark/Dark troller. So excited!

If the game finds any resolution issues, then it'll default to 800x600 @16bit color.
