Quote:Desk? you people have DESKS?!?!When I was up north, I had this beautiful glass desk; however, having moved, I'm stuck using an old sewing desk as my computer desk.
I'm basically sitting on the floor with one of those "as seen on tv" computer tables that has a built-in fan, fold out legs, and an LED goose-neck light. So if you wonder what I mean by numb-butt ingame, it has Nothing to do with my daily activities. ;-p -
Quote:Things that we really didn't need to know? ...or...Habits that should be left at home. :-pDammit. It was a typo! How long is that incident going to be held against me?
Nobody faults the manufacturer of the spellchecker... which, incidentally, I use on all my communications use. Nobody blames the IT department for not responding to my ticket requesting a new keybooard when things started sticking WEEKS before the incident. Heck, what about the boys at the print shop that handled the request for that "Happy Birthday" banner! Shouldn't they have doublechecked the proof? -
Quote:Agreed, your computer must have woken up on the wrong side of the board that day.Well, it wasn't getting to the point of using the checksum. I finally got it to work by rebooting (again) and starting up the launcher and just leaving it alone. As long as I didn't click the UPDATE button I was able to exit and restart it normally. Eventually I opened it and it said "ready to play". At that point I could start normally and let it go thru and check the updates.
Weird. -

Did we perhaps not click the button at the login point to tie it to your account atleast once or perhaps after the recent update it's forgotten to check for the local bind file?

Quote:*caughs*badgewhores*coughs*The devs have said that, at its height, about 10% of the population had entered a PVP zone.
Not that they were PVP players or anything. Just that they'd entered the zones and used the arena.
I'd suspect that i13 put a major dent in these numbers.
So...what happened in i13 as that's when I previously "retired"? -
Um, doesn't it retain the same borders as your chat window? If you have things like that, then I'd imagine it Would be hard to see.

Quote:*overly joyful reaction*Mine is very traditional.
Only exception to this, is that I also usually monitor: last hit chance, ranged/melee defence and damage bonus.
And yes, my inspiration tray has to be nice and tidy
I'm not the Only one! -
Quote:This give or take how many tokens you've racked up...I had to selectively re-unlock any toons I wanted to play. I also lost access to any of the ATs that are listed as "VIP Content" in the market, my pretty golden label here, access to post in about half the forums, and loss of my Avatar/Signature.I have had my credit card renewed so I have first hand knowledge.
1. all of your characters become locked, you have to unlock them using your "global unlocks" that any "free" or VIP player can use. you can unlock an existing character or create a new one.
2. IOs and ATOs or any crafted IO will no longer work for you as if your slot was empty.
3. you can't email, AH, AE or use your SG base. not sure if you can trade anything but I know that nothing you can't use can be traded/gifted with you.
when you do finally put a new credit card on, your characters still look locked but when you try to unlock them it doesn't ask you if you want to use one of your global unlocks anymore and then you can play them as usual. -

In this case a full screen shot would probably do wonders...I haven't a clue as to what's even pushing this window to the screen.

Try deleting client.chksum in your CoX directory, then load the launcher and push update.

6? Heh, I remember seeing Atlas/RWZ 10...12...etc before on Pinn. I forget what was going on (likely 2xp), but it's been a while.

This is pretty much how I run any WinOS anymore as I've got hardware protection on the router + paid-support software to help keep things clean. Considering I'm not a member of the lightyear-high nets club, then I'm generally fine to shut those off if I need to for installations even. :-p

Eh, just give us a combat practice room type already. ;-)

Yeah, I will admit to purchasing said binder, but have summarily discarded it over time as I didn't feel like wasting trees on the updates that sorta came, but didn't.

Honestly, I've never had an issue with the Launcher taking up an unacceptible amount of resources. Most the time I have it set to auto-close, but now and then I test things for others and accidentally leave the settings defaulted only to find it sitting in the background quietly. Granted, I'm using XP x86 w/ 4Gb RAM and only a 256Mb GPU, but it still doesn't give me any trouble. Many people don't seem to be as lucky, hense why the suggestion is to normally leave it closed after launch.

With the enormous amount of information here one can deduce the following possibilities:
1) Underpowered GPU;
2) Insufficient RAM;
3) Overheating GPU;
4) Windows 7 hates you;
5) You forgot to give the hampster beer again;
Lookup COH Helper and HiJack This on the forums for instructions on how to post their output as that seems to be the number one request in these cases. -
Could be just me, but I can't read those screenshots very well. That and "Holy Icon Ranch, Batman!"
Checkout the two write ups in my signature. See if you can figure it out from there, if not then let us know either way.
Edit: Where'd my Signature go?!?!

Quote:For one that doesn't get around to all the tid bits of info, this is definitely a good thing to hear about. This has likely led to more stable server performance.The main thing is. They've already spoken up about this. The "servers" are running in a virtualized manner now. So it doesn't really cost them any extra to have 20 servers than it does to have 10 servers.
And, as hardware capability increases, this is just going to get easier and cheaper for them. -
Yes, the launcher is a completely separate entity and can be fully uninstalled. Make sure to delete any registry entries for it and any lingering files before you reinstall. If you need help configuring it to play the game post-reinstall, then checkout my links for tips or just ask here and I could probably walk you through it.
