Quote:I guess this slipped past me as well. I'm not saying that's difficult now a days, but still.I don't necessarily remember the "2 free a year" statement. I'm only asking this since I was getting grilled by a new VIP player who didn't understand why it wasn't free. I tried to explain as best as I could why it wasn't free for VIPs, but I was curious myself as to why it wasn't.

Quote:This being the Key phrase of this whole thread. If you want a decent population but at the same time don't want to be on the bussiest server around the server listing screen has them ranked from quietest(top server) to bussiest(bottom server). Past Freedom and Virtue they do shuffle around a little bit so check the servers during what's going to be your normal playtime.

One of these days I'm gonna add these links, but look for the CoH Helper and HiJackThis apps listed in the forums and follow what they say to post. That should give the more technical drive minds something useful to chew on. When people do that, that also seems to have some sort of mystical attraction that pulls them (tech-heads) into these threads as well. :-p

Quote:Control Panels:All Control Panels:Mouse:Pointer OptionsI haven't messed with the settings on that tab in forever, so this setting is new to me.
It's good to know there are options though.
Edit:
I can't find that option in Windows 7 64bit, but it could possibly be because I use a Logitech cordless optical trackball mouse with its own drivers that do not have the option. -
See what happens if you disable your firewall for a moment. It could be blocking the connection. Some firewalls detect changes (like patches) that may trigger a red flag.

Once you go to that thread, click on "Thread tools" near the top, then "subscribe to this thread". Follow the prompts and it will be available at the top of your User Control Panel. -
I'm on a temporary resub (slight oops with points purchase, etc) and had to re-unlock my toons.

Inside the launcher, try to right click the arrow next to City of Heroes, and choose Repair. See if that doesn't eventually fix the issue. My first impression is that for some reason your connection timed out and that could cause something like this (so far as I know).

I started CoX when I was still building towers for fun, but eventually moved to laptops because of school. Since that adventure's over and with other issues I've been running into recently, I'm highly pondering another tower. Sucks though as I'm running out of space in my room!

Quote:I know, I know...I was just throwing some flair into the irony for grins.Hey, they just gave SG's Hacked Teleporters and "float/rotate" objects, as well as...umm...uhhhhhh.... Yeah, let me get back to you on that?
I think it's more like proof that they're just piling new buggy stuff on top of older buggy stuff and that someday -- when we least expect it -- the game's going to implode upon itself and we'll all log on and find ourselves looking at a screenfull of "Pong" in black and white. -
Quote:If you recall, there's a cursor locator function in that same options tab in windows. Something like hit a key combo to make a halo over the cursor. I too lose track of mine now and then.Actually now that I think about it, that could be very useful for City of Heroes.
Honestly, I lose my cursor on the screen very often when there are big/many effects going on(which is a hallmark of this game), so having a trail behind my cursor would make it much easier to find it in the see of effects since it is effectively "making the cursor bigger/longer/more obvious".
Really though, I would rather just have better control and UI stuff so that losing the cursor in the graphics wouldn't be an issue. -

Quote:I'm not sure How exactly you'd test it (was kinda hoping someone else would chime in like they normally do), but many times when I read on here that CoX is having issues while other DirectX based games are fine, then I normally see something OpenGL related as being the culprit. Again, I hope somebody a bit more silicon-blooded responds with something more helpful. How do I verify that? Download an OpenGL stand-alone rendered? All else works fine like I said, it's just that the game freezes completely, it shows the Win7 equivalent of the hourglass.
I'm still waiting for an answer from NC support. This is maddening! Thanks for the help.

Quote:Looks like we still got another ten minutes to wait before it'll happen:Can we get a red name to close this thread please?
it is becoming borderline insulting one, abusing other, mistreating this and harassing that.
Replace Song with Thread. ;-) -
Quote:heh, I just came back in here to mention this as I'd done this in my recent base revisions.Actually, there's a simple "trick" that can still be done to create something that looks like a wider "door" between two rooms: Just use a larger room and fill it with walls until it looks like it's really two rooms. You can then create "doorways" by removing the walls at the desired locations. Since they're not actually doors, you can make them as wide as you like.

Silly Q, is this item a group unlockable item? IE: do you have to say heal X number of people while in SG mode in order to unlock it?

One thing to consider when doing this though. Not all channels like to see such things. I accidentally had copied my binds from one channel into all of them and summarily got group-thwapped by an entire channel because I guess they all agreed NOT to do that. Now in channels dedicated to SGs or RP, then this is probably perfectly fine, but I'd see what everybody else is doing first. It's not like you can't simply remove it later, but it saves the hassle.

Proof that they don't like SGs anymore? Just sayin. :-/
