3-D Maze in base

I have finally finished a 3-D maze in my base. It is in a 4x4 room and one must navigate the maze by going up and down levels as well as navigating the normal turns (that sometimes lead to dead ends) as in a normal maze. I lost track of the number of hours I spent doing it, but it took over 3,100 small size blocks to make.

Pictures?

EDIT: Apologies if I came out as a jerk. Did not mean it that way. I'm sure after doing this you were excited and needed to tell someone, but as an audience, we'd be very interested in seeing the maze.

So go take some after you're done sleeping.

Congratz! I know from experience just how hard those things to make are, im currently on a 3 month task of it myself.

Certainly take some screenshots though for us to see! However you know the next logical step would be to create a multi-room 3d maze right?

I could get some pictures, but it will only show the top level from an overhead picture, as the lower two levels are unseen from that angle. Any suggestions for that?

As for a multi-room 3-D maze, it would never be true, since doorways cannot have any objects placed in them.

That is not true. Depends on when he did some of the stuff. I still have bases that have doors messed with.

Uhm yes they can.

I routinely wall off doorways of my bases that lead to unfinished sections. Here I deleted two wall cabinets to show that it is indeed a doorway that is walled off.

You place the cabinets by hanging them on the sides of the office cubicle. You can fit the cabinets two high on the cubicle and by raising the floor using the safe and white floor tile you can add more cabinets until the doorway is completely blocked off.

If you want to confuse people as to the doorways actual location fill the entire rooms walls with cabinets.

How exactly is that placing items inside of doorways?

Technically, it's not.

But I think what Forbin was demonstrating was how a doorway could be walled off in such a manner as to create a unique room/doorway for a multi-room maze.

Hassenpheffer and others have done this quite successfully.

Nevertheless, even a single room maze is no small feat. Gratz, Felina.

Felina, that is pretty awesome! Will you be running tours/races through it any time? (Races would make for a great contest -- but contenders could only run once)

That is a very interesting idea. I will have to see about that. Any ideas for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes?

I bet with enough interest, people might be willing to sponsor the races with some inf or recipe prizes. I'd certainly be willing to chip in.

A player acting as a starter, wearing a checkered costume and firing a pistol power to begin the race would be nifty.

Somehow I picture a Teen rated Doom video.

I am going to -tentatively- set a date for some races:

Saturday, April 28, 2012 @ 7:00pm EST

If there is enough interest, I may schedule more races in the future. I have posted a notice on my forum board, and future race dates will be posted there. There is NO registration required to access that particular forum. You cannot start any new posts in that forum, but you can reply to any unlocked threads. If you wish to know the URL for my forum boards, I will be posting it in an in-game Global Channel named "Future Vampires" (without the quotes, of course) within 24 hours of this post. I will also make sure the channel is set as Public so anyone can join it. In the meantime, I will think of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes.
