I have it on my Tank and i find it very useful, especially along with the hold from the Cold mastery you can hold a boss quickly, or more useful is against Malta and one shot holding sappers when running in to a mob.

Also very useful in PvP.

I agree that the slotting isn't great, but the power can certainly be useful.

Only problem here is I don't think anyone has actually got round to testing it but there was a post in this forum about it somewhere. You certainly need recharge in it

The Def buff is really small, even enhanced it only gives 5% defense. But with 3 resistance slots in it gives 24% resistance to fire/cold/energy/something else.

Ice primary is an end hog, Rad isn't so bad. As a secondary (once buffs are out of the way) it's only really Arctic Air and Snow Storm that are gonna eat end, hence the endreds.

You may also want to drop Glacial Shield if there are other powers you want to fit in. Ice Shields smash/lethal DEF and fire/cold RES are nice but the only other thing Glacial gives you is Energy DEF so does seem like a bit of an extravagant pick and is why I skipped it.

Thought it was En and Neg? (same as Ice tank Glacial Armour) - Still for one power and 2 slots I think it can help the team (and make them look extra chilly)

D) Mainly, to be different. With everyone and their dog rolling dark/dark and /rad's I wanted to choose something different. I always liked /Cold and have seen very few running around, and I like the rad patterns on the spandex but didnt' want yet another /rad.

Some people just need to take 2 minutes out of their time to /petition these sort of people. The more the petitions build up, the less likely you are to see them doing it again.

I wish the people who acted like this actual used the forums to see what an awful image of PvP they portray, and how immature and pathetic they make the CoV population look.

I found MoG to be squishie unless slotted with 2xdefbus and 1xdmgres.

I'd also drop one of the recharges on healsplitter for another accuracy, but then I hate missing especially in PvP where the opportunity to smack someone is short.

For the second week in a row, the Heroes of Union banded together to take down not just one, or two...but THREE Giant Octopus's (Octopi?) in Indy Port!

Followed up by a quick Adamastor bash afterwards as well.

Thank you to everyone who turned up, might make this a weekly event, it was really quickly put together and a lot of people had a lot of fun (others just got lots of debt )

How about both?

Obviously the better slotted hibernate is, the quicker it is to use and come out of without losing aggro.

Slotted for heals it should only take you a few seconds to recover health and you can break out of it and start poking the enemies again.

With regards to infernal, permafrost gives some fire resistance

That's a great idea that I would totally be up for, no having to grind away at Tanks/Scrappers/Brutes or chasing after Stalkers. Squishies vs Squishies in an all out debuffing/holding/blapping fight!

Aww come on, keep the dominator population up in PvP, it's fun holding squishies when they aren't expecting it.

I used to love chasing people out of the zones to buy a tray full of breakfrees. Yes I used to die a lot but I used to irritate (not necessarily kill) a lot of players and it's something different in the mix.

teamed with a couple of friendly stalkers a dominator is a right goit.

I haven't got tough and weave (yet!) curse slow levelling.

I do have aidself and icepatch and combined with EA that's enough for me to quite easily tank +4's/+5's without support. +6's with a defender/controller behind me.

I know aidself basiaclly takes two powers to get and hibernate is just one so there is a good arguement, also what secondary you have (hibernate after rage wears out is obviously useful).

I'm not saying hibernate is the worst powerchoice, I just find aidself more useful.

I've respec'd out hibernate and I don't use/need it, I'd get more use out of permafrost!

Spad, do you really need 2 endreds in FA? I thought it was pretty low end usage anyway.

Yes doms need a boost.

Whether solo or in a team - or PvE or PvP, there is no way assault secondary is equal to controller secondaries.

That's a very good point that I hadn't thought of.

If you've got a FoTM scrapper/stalker that will get you high PvP rep with ease, why roll anything that would require a challenge or change in gameplay? What's the incentive?

A lot of people who were here before PvP are still here.

Yes lots of people have joined, but even then PvP was and still is optional and people still buy the game only wanting to PvE, if not only because of the reputation of CoH as a great PvE content game.


The trouble with TG's idea for rewards, is there are no special rewards on PvE for spending ages getting a really good build and understanding the game loads. Someone with a really awful build and no idea how to play their AT and powerset can still get to 50 and still have access to everything that people who are really good at the game get.

It would have to be a reward that wasn't farmable to give bonuses as well.

I still think that the attitude of players in the PvP zones is the biggest thing stopping people from joining in PvP as often. It certainly makes me PvE more because I don't want a broadcast (and even tells) full of abuse just because I want to try something different for a few hours.

I'd like more teaming PvP, and less squishie ganking in the open warfare zones.

But an awful lot of people bought CoH because it had no PvP, it was a pure PvE game and people didn't have to worry about the builds/playstyle and tbh attitude of it all. And the bad stories continue to go around (justified bad stories in many cases).

Given the "pick up and play" style of CoH as a whole, a lot of players (especially int he evening) want a bit of light relief by bouncing around as a superhero hitting things They don't want to be shouted at, abused etc. because they fancy trying a bit of PvP.

The population won't go up until the general attitude changes, unfortunately the people with the bad attitudes don't tend to be on the forums much and this will fall on deaf ears.

The taunt debate will forever go on, I for one like to have it in addition to my taunt aura. But everyone has different palystyles, there is no one definitive way of tanking otherwise we'd all have exactly the same build and paly exactly the same way.

I'm extremely effective as my tank, and I play it how I want to play with the powers I've chosen to take.

Apart from one stalker the evening was quite good natured though, a little bit of broadcast banter but a lot of smilies and "darn you!".
