Ice/Fire Advice
My I6 Ice Armour Guide is still pretty much accurate: http://uk.boards.cityofheroes.com/sh...;Number=249898
Spad's current build is as follows, however, being a Lv50 build there are a lot of powers that are out of order from the perspective of a new player - but then really, without dropping either the leaping pool or speed pool entirely, I'm not sure how else I can fit things in earlier:

I would get Hibernate at level 32. It a great power and is more needed than Stimulant at that level. I would also max out EA earlier.
@Unthing ... Mostly on Union.
I've still never used Hibernate in a combat situation more than 5 times in the whole time I've been playing.
The slot levels are all the usual randomness that results from using planners.

I use it every other spawn on average. When fighting something tough I use it as often as I can. It makes a huge difference to survivability. The trick is learning how to not lose aggro when you use it.

I've respec'd out hibernate and I don't use/need it, I'd get more use out of permafrost!
Spad, do you really need 2 endreds in FA? I thought it was pretty low end usage anyway.

That's because Hibernate is for tanking over your weight class. IIRC doesn't your build have Weave, Aid Self and Ice Patch? In which case it really is no suprise you don't need it. But for those of us who picked less pool powers Hibernate is a pretty good investment survivability wise.

It's a rarity, but I actually had spare slots to spend, hence the extra endreds.

I haven't got tough and weave (yet!) curse slow levelling.
I do have aidself and icepatch and combined with EA that's enough for me to quite easily tank +4's/+5's without support. +6's with a defender/controller behind me.
I know aidself basiaclly takes two powers to get and hibernate is just one so there is a good arguement, also what secondary you have (hibernate after rage wears out is obviously useful).
I'm not saying hibernate is the worst powerchoice, I just find aidself more useful.
And my dad is bigger than your dad.

Without doing a side by side comparison I can only guess, however I would expect Aid Self would beat in most situations Hibernate just from looking at the numbers.

As my (second) ice tank approaches 32 I would greatly appreciate some advice re: Hibernate...
Basically I have a hardcore ice/ice tank built for aggro and survivability (tough/weave, med pool etc)
I would like Hibernate in there for the truly terrible opponents (/glances at Infernal and shudders)...
My question is... is it possible to maintain some limited aggro once Hibernate is activated if you have heavily slotted Taunt enhancers on Chilling embrace and Taunt (planning at least two on each)?
Obviously the better slotted hibernate is, the quicker it is to use and come out of without losing aggro.
Slotted for heals it should only take you a few seconds to recover health and you can break out of it and start poking the enemies again.
With regards to infernal, permafrost gives some fire resistance
Ah yes.. the mighty permafrost..... hmmmm....
Interesting Idea about slotting Hibernate for heals... didnt do that with my first tank and it seemed to heal fairly fast, but of course faster would be better...
The question is, then, more efficient to slot up with 3xSO taunts in chillinge embrace/taunt vs 3sSO heals in hibernate?
How about both?
CE ticks aren't that long comaperd to taunt, you'll be better off slotting 3 tauntdur in taunt and firing it off right before hibernate, the taunt effect will last longer.
Its just that taunt only effects 5 IIRC...
Ill probably go for 2xSO in CE and Taunt (both useful anyway) and leave hibernate as a strictly oh hell button... IIRC the health recharge is sufficiently quick to recharge in 10 seconds or so... I should hope that most teams can take that long, especially if I fire of taunt just before to "lock down" the serious dangers for a couple of seconds beforehand.
Mind you, any comments from experienced Ice tanks welcome *eyes Spad meaningfully*

you should be okay with permafrost and tanking him with respect.

yes but i bet everyone elses dad is more muscley and athletic
Its all well saying i can do this and i can do that as a tanker but what damage you can avoid through means of having all the armours you can get and icepatch and team support (team support to my expectations should be enough) but i am not saying you are in anyway like this but the main point of a tanker is ultimately to get hit and not to pass out the awakens to people.
So the approach, standpoint and the gaining of trust and adequate support is more important. Oh what am i on about? Its a game! We dont play heroes we play lemmings out to get xp/time! Somebody slap me and wake me up! Nobody tries to take all the damage anymore, everyones happy to run in and have exciting fights where someone else other than tank runs the risk of getting defeated cos thats what heroes do! They're supposed to compromise eachother and then try to muddle through rather than play to not take risks in the first place and comfortably pwn cos thats not fun. Dammit why didnt i realise sooner..Debt, people hated it when it was double the amount and complained, now people faceplant twice as much and say debt soon passes..I better lay of the shandy this morning.
@spad
Good build btw Spad, ya did say the order of slotting was anywhere cos its a respec build but for ice/fire i like it.

hey!! do you think it is worth taking tough and weave on an ice tank to try to eek out a little bit more defense?? or do u think it is better to take Hibernate, stimulant and aid self instead of those 3?
thanks
I have a lvl9 ice/fire tank and was wondering if there were any current guides (I7) as I am new to tanking!
