Now someone's gonna shout "GR SAID NOT TO DISCUSS IT!" but this is a why it's low, and somebody will shout "IT'S NOT LOW!" but compare it to other MMOs and you see why. End of story, I don't want to start a arguement/flame war about it.
Now, recently I13 was realased. But in my mind there wasnt really anything in I13 that will make intrested ones go "Oh, that's a feature that will effect me in my first few days!"
Let's review...
Day Jobs: Don't think newbies should be making 23 alts just yet
Merit System: The newbies probably dont even understand Story Arcs/TFs/GMs yet.
Levelling Pact: OK it might, but it would take a while to figure out this.
New Cimerora Stuff: I'm sure no-one got to lvl 35 in about a week of first time playing or so.
Multi Builds: Yeah, I'm pretty sure they won't use this instantly either.
New Powersets: Yes, they will use this. I can't deny it. But there is a LOAD of other powersets...these are two.
Base and PvE and PvP Changes: I'm not sure people get involved with Bases early on, and PvE and PvP numbers will pretty much confuse new players.
So...do you see? There seems to be little to attract new players to the game in I13.
I'm glad they're trying MA, something new kids on the block might get excited about, but frankly - that's still a few months away. I'm sure that not many newbies will go into very much detail into Mission/Arcs anyway.
This is basically a reason why I think, disagree or agree on this matter, and post your own reasons. And please don't start a flame war...

The thing is, everything in this game would be new to someone just starting out in it, the problems you list are more problems for retaining old players, not bringing in new ones. -
Meh.
I haven't really logged on much, don't feel the pull. I'll play a little more at some point.
I like the double xp though. -

Plans afoot? -
Landing at the station with an annoyed grunt, Vox pulled off his burnt, ruined hockey jersey and sighed. He wondered when Paragon was going to stop relying on heroes to put out their fires.
A short time later, after checking his e-mails and the band's forums, he spotted a poster on the wall.
Looking it over, he tapped a number into his phone.
"Hey, Ibu? You heard about this charity gig? Can you set an appearance there up for us?
You're already doing it?
Best agent ever.
Thanks doll."
He grinned and put his mobile away, remembered his ruined shirt and leapt out of the station, flying into the air, heading towards Icon.
(( Band name: Sidereal Din. Post-Punk/Industrial/Cyber with the odd bouncy "angry pop" anthem scattered about. Manager/Agent/General sorter outer = Ibuprofen (played by Morgana Fiolett). Lineup is Vox on vocals, weird noises and euphoric feelings, Groove on bass, Clik Trax (a gurl!) on drums and Rivethead on guitars.
Vox is often in magazines doing interviews, they're probably about as famous as Nine Inch Nails. General public perception of him is as an arrogant, irresponsible rocker playing at being a hero. His fans see him differently though.
He regards saving lives as the most important job he has.
Edit: Vox's power is in his voice, he can use it to do almost anything (I haven't fully defined what he can and can't do) and in gigs he uses it to alter people's minds, making them feel euphoric and happy. Basically he makes them trip out with his funky voice powers.
Critics claim he uses it to control his fanbase. Obviously they're wrong.))

Vox Doom should be quite famous around the City of... world and is in a band called Sidereal Din, there 'should' be posters for their albums and stuff around. He'd be well up for this. They've even written a 20 minute long Xmas song.
Sort of rocky/punky type stuff, they'd class themselves as post-punk. He's also an expert in explosives and is closely involved in the pyros for the shows. -

Imagine a future in the CoH universe where there are no superheroes and people look back on these days and call them the times when "Gods walked the Earth".

And goddesses
[/ QUOTE ]
The word "gods" can refer to all deities collectively, not just male ones.
[/ QUOTE ]
Which is about as acceptable as "guys" meaning everyone
[/ QUOTE ]
I believe the word your after is "Man" which works a bit like "God(s)" in that it can be in connection with either a female or a male entity.
(realise that he's more than likely wasting his breath but is bored at work)
[/ QUOTE ]
No, she meant guys. In modern usage 'guys' can refer to a group of people, male or female (I worked in a place where my female team leader referred to the team which consisted of 6 girls and me as 'guys'), but you generally don't refer to a single woman as a 'guy'.
GG disapproves of calling a group of men and women guys, which she is entitled to do, I just disagree. -

Miss Liberty is cool, but has she finally vanquished the lovely Ghost Widow? Or is the poor woman tired of being strapped into tight PVC and gawped at all day in a hot room :P
[/ QUOTE ]
I believe the model who played Ghost Widow has 'retired' the character from public appearances. I remember reading somewhere that she had planned on 'retiring' her after the last Memorabilia but made one last outing instead for the Omega Sektor event.
I think I read it on a journal she had somewhere. -

Which I also use and have never had any problems with.
Are you one of those people who gets annoyed when people refer to the "race of man" even though the oldest known usage of the word refers to humans, regardless of gender?
Seriously GG, you don't really get wound up when people refer to "gods" when talking about a pantheon like the Egyptian gods or Norse gods and don't use "goddesses" unless specifically referring to a particular female deity, do you?
If so, I have no interest in discussing this with you. -

Think most of mine ended up in the bin, as for the cape and logo you could gladly have mine as I don't think I ever used themMuch prefer the other capes especially things added since, and not being particularly evil the Arachnos logo is not much good to me.

You threw them in the bin?!
People buy those things on eBay.

People buy all sorts of tat on eBay, thats their look out.
Mine sat on top of my computer for six months and got dusty, then cleared out, I ight have one or two or some stands but most will be in the great landfill in the sky by now. Which TBH is where they belong.
[/ QUOTE ]
In your opinion. You 'could' have used them, maybe started a new hobby, or sold them. There are, or at least were, plenty of people who really wanted the Ghost Widow figure in particular as she's very useful in a game of Heroclix.
[/ QUOTE ]
So you play with them do you............... mmmm is there some kind of card game for them or is it just a made up game you play
Tbh i never had one very tacky
[/ QUOTE ]
No, they have stats on their base which you can twist around as your character takes hits. Sometimes there's a coloured block around a stat which tells you what superpower they have.
You pick your team and deploy them on a map which has any number of squares, some of the squares represent things like buildings and water.
It's kind of like chess, but with superhero figures.
And it's no more tacky than a computer game about superheroes. -

Hi everybody,
I was curious about the "Walks the Earth" badge title. (That's the one for the level 35/40 travel power IO memorization badge.)
I can translate it literally, arriving at "somebody who moves about on the surface of the planet on foot" (or something like that). But is that really everything? I've got a hunch feeling that this might be an idiomatic expression, or something used in a specific context.
Unfortunately my search-fu failed to turn up any explanations on this. Could any native speaker or knowledgeable individual shed some light on this?
Thanks for any insights here,
10
[/ QUOTE ]
Your translation pretty much gets what I think the badge literally means, just without the "on foot" bit.
"Roams the Planet" would be more accurate, but wouldn't connect to the meaning that Standoff brought up, which invokes the feeling of your character being somewhat legendary in the world.

Neverwinter Nights, Neverwinter Nights 2, Dragon Age.
I would love to see a superhero game like those though. I don't suppose Bioware would be nice enough, unfortunately. They seem to be a bit wedded to fantasy and IPR licenses.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd rather see one like Mass Effect or Jade Empire, I'm not too keen on controlling a full team directly. I'd rather just give orders like in ME or just have them follow me around like in JE. -

After redecorating my entire room today (omg never again) i came across the dvd edition boxset and what do i find inside but some small collectables
Just wondering if anybody else has these and if so what ones?
Ones i found i got are:
Lord Recluse
Manticore
Positron
The entire villain patrons
Edit: Ok the collectables are called "heroclix" woops!
[/ QUOTE ]
Not only do I have those but I have many, many more Heroclix.
And you don't have all the villain patrons because there's no Scirroco. You should have a Statesman too. -
I'll add an adios to Lighthouse.

ANY, tell about powerlevelling, filling or farming will be Ignored.
[/ QUOTE ]
I find this in particular insulting and annoys me... its a similar situation when I look at /search..
I see search comments that say "I WILL NOT FILL / FARM / PL so DO NOT ASK"
To be honest people with hostile search comments like this would encourage me to send them tells saying "fill plox" ~ lol
People forget this is a Mmorpg, if you don'y want to be contacted... go play your playstation.
[/ QUOTE ]
As you can see from my first post Vox, I was commenting on a generic response and attitude given to all farmers asking for a filler.
I was explaining how farmers should not be tarred with the same brush, and they should not be so hostile towards us and that was the reasoning behind my reply.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry Donna but you just proved my point with that. You want to change those people's opinions of fillers and farmers by confronting them.
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Maybe the person wants to play alone and doesn't want to team. Just because there are other people in the game doesn't mean you HAVE to interact with them.
[/ QUOTE ]
Filling is not teaming, it takes the amount of time for the farmer to run round the map once at superspeed, it's the easies help you will ever give another player in game.
[/ QUOTE ]
That was partially in response to you saying that people should play a console game if they don't want to get contacted. I didn't quote it though. But still, if they don't want to fill for whatever reason, be that because they don't want to even be in a team with somebody else or because they just don't have time, isn't that their prerogative?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
You're not going to change their mind or make them change the comment
[/ QUOTE ]
Neither of these outcomes are anywhere near my goal, I am simply giving them my point of view and explaining that we are not all the same, and there are nice polite farmers like me in Paragon too.
[/ QUOTE ]
So, you don't want to change their mind? You don't want to change their opinion of farmers? Why else do you want to show them that not all farmers are like they believe?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
But people just DON'T want to do it, who are you to tell them that they MUST?
[/ QUOTE ]
Once again I don't know where you got this ideal.... as I asked already are you reading the same forum as me? I never said this once
[/ QUOTE ]
Your argument is that there is no reason for somebody not to fill. That you can't see any reason for someone to say "no" to a fill request. So what do you do if somebody does say no? Do you argue with them that there's no reason for them not to?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
You're complaining that people don't want to fill and calling them selfish! What exactly are you trying to accomplish by saying all of this if you're not trying to change people's opinions of filling?
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't remember complaining that people don't want to fill, I have been commenting on the attitude in general towards the filling ideal. Please stop repeating yourself.
[/ QUOTE ]
Do you remember this?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
No matter how polite I'm asked to fill. I wont. Simple dimple (as my sister always says). I pay my subs, you pay your subs. We both play the game how we like so why change others play stile just to please yourself?
Unless the person who wants me to fill offers to pay for my sub, it will always be no.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's the sort of selfish morals that wind me up.
[/ QUOTE ]
Your reply to Thorny devil. Their first comment "No matter how polite I'm asked to fill. I wont."
It shouldn't matter what their reason for not wanting to fill is, you have no right to complain about it, calling them selfish.
Edit:
Actually yes, this will be my last post on this, so feel free to get the last word in Donna.
I'll make my edit more on topic: If I got a message from someone saying "fill plox" when I've made it clear in my search comment that I won't fill, I'd put them on ignore. -

You didnt quote where I said I was trying to change peoples mind or force them to do something that they don't want to... could you have been mistaken perhaps ?
[/ QUOTE ]
Why else would you want to confront them?
Either you want to change their mind or just have a pointless argument, which is it?
