  1. Cool-looking/fun factor definitely comes before power. I took both Handclap and Whirlwind.
  2. That guy's been trying to make the movie for years now, I think the original plan was to release it on 09/09/09. And considering the original is public domain and anyone can remake it, this really isn't much of a story.

    Your Top 5

I agree with a lot of the suggestions so far, so I'll just list one big priority for me:

More Mission Maps. This is where most of the game takes place, and it needs more variety than Warehouse, Sewer, Office, Tech, repeat. I was disappointed that even Going Rogue starts repeating maps immediately.
  4. It's real and it's spectacular.
  5. I've tried a lot of different builds on my Inv/SS and I found the +Recharge build the most fun. Throwing out tons of Footstomps and KO Blows is great. I'm not sure how that would translate to Dark Melee though.

You have it backwards. Everyone in this thread who suggested unlocking vet reward costume pieces for everyone has played for years. We get nothing out of it.

The problem with the vet costume pieces is they're completely arbitrary. Telling a new player they have to wait three years for a pair of boxing gloves is just silly.
  7. I gotta be honest- it looks like an ad for a Wonder Woman Halloween costume.

Agreed. Pull all the costume pieces out of vet rewards and give them to everyone.

I put it in Unstoppable, so the low +Res doesn't really make a difference.

I'm swimming in things like Alchemical Silvers due to salvage rolls.
    Quoted because it bears repeating.

Salvage prices got ya down? Go run an AE mission.
  11. If you're just using a regular build without a lot of set bonuses, etc, Handclap can definitely come in handy. Certain enemy combinations can start to whittle you down fast and Handclap gives you a nice reprieve.

As you upgrade to a more powerful build, Handclap becomes less useful. But it's still fun, and fun's my #1 priority. (Which is why I also took Whirlwind.)
  12. The market is a two-way street. If the prices are crazy high, roll a bunch of common Salvage at the AE vendor and sell it. Make millions.
  13. I've noticed that with the Cardiac slot and PvP IOs, Invulnerability can cap Smash/Lethal resistance without taking Tough. I was thinking of doing it just for the novelty, but I'm pretty happy with my current build.
  14. Cardiac was an easy choice for me because I don't take the Fighting Pool (boring!), so it adds a decent amount of Smash/Lethal resistance (plus a few percent on the others).

But I'm not sure if this thread's really talking "globally" iconic or iconic anywhere. *shrugs*
Manga is (or at least was) hugely popular in the west as well. To the under-25 crowd, I think a lot of manga and anime characters are more well-known than some of the US characters we consider iconic.

That's why most Marvel and DC readers are in their 30s and 40s- the next generation found a new wave of their own, and I think that's great. Each new generation should have their own icons.
  16. I needed two Steel this weekend and noticed they were going for 1 million each at the time.

So I ran a quick AE mission and bought them both for 80 tickets each.
  17. Sailor Moon and other manga stuff that I don't really know about, because it was the generation after me.

    Drive Angry 3D

Seeing stuff and feeling like it's coming at you? Do the people, cars, etc seem to be in 3D as well?

Just asking, never been to a 3D movie, and just wondered what it was like.
The 3D glasses are big and should fit over your glasses. The 3D effects don't really add a lot, but the added depth and occasional neat effect looks cool. I find 3D works better in animated movies than live action. I haven't seen Drive Angry, so I can't comment on that.
  19. I didn't mind it. Sure missed Footstomp, though.

That is much, much easier said than done. The old guard of superheroes have decades of brand recognition built up.

There's no continuity to "disrespect" when you're launching a new franchise in a different medium. Smallville didn't "disrespect" Lana Lang and Pete Ross, they were new takes on old characters.

That's what I think of when Lois Lane comes to mind; I think of a woman with strength and brilliance who takes those things and puts them to work in the name of something good. I think of a woman who represents some of the very best aspects of humankind and couldn't help but attract the love of a man who could literally have any female in the universe. That, not her physical appearance, is what I believe is iconic about Lois Lane.

And I believe finding an actress who can effectively pull that off and make it so no one even questions why Superman would love Lois Lane should be the focus.

So I guess to rephrase the original question: when you think of Lois Lane, what kind of affect would her being black have on what comes to mind?
It would make no difference. That wouldn't stop the media from wildly overanalyzing the decision, though.

All things being equal, this would be an ideal solution. But things aren't equal. The "whites only" club of characters have a 50-plus year head start, making them more popular and profitable.

Saying "go start your own club" is kind of being a jerk. Just take down the "whites only" sign.

Because reducing diversity is bad. Increasing diversity is good.

Seriously, 95% of the best known superheroes and their supporting cast are white. It's an embarrassing reminder of the past, and any chance to alter some characters (like starting a new movie franchise) should be jumped at.
  24. As always, don't let the racism of the past dictate choices today.
