After all, we've all seen what has happened in Jay's Costume Suggestion thread. We don't need a repeat of that on ANY subject on these forums.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You mean, a ton of really good ideas getting completely ignored, right?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Possibly because they're buried within ten tons of craptacular ideas that are either not possible or so horrible that only one person out of a million would actually wear it?
  2. While I agree with you that all patterns should be proliferated consistently where they're made available (Females need the Occult cape pattern, in particular), I personally disagree with ANY of the full capes being available prior to capes being unlocked. (I make exception for the single-shoulder cape, since it's not really a "cape" per se.)

Yes, I understand that those capes are part of a booster pack and were paid for. But you know, the Four Winds cape and the Arachnos cape were part of special editions previously, and they weren't available prior to having capes unlocked.

The in-game storyline treats capes as a very specific reward tied to accomplishing specific deeds/honoring another's specific deeds, and shouldn't be given out willy-nilly to every brand new hero/villain on the block.

(That being said, if the devs insist on allowing all of the "paid for" items to be accessible at level 1, they should at least block out the non-booster capes. By this I mean that using the High Collar option to get a cape prior to properly unlocking capes should only get you access to Basic, Arcane, Occult, Arachnos, Four Winds, and Valkyrie capes - depending on which sets were purchased for your respective account.)

"Earning" your cape in-game used to be a big deal. It should still be one.

    5 Year Badge?

Bear in mind, also, that there's fluctuation of a few days or so in the actual numerical date, due to the pay periods being 30 days, and not every month being thirty days' long.

(For example, my most recent stretch of vet award dates fall on the 8th, 6th, 6th, 7th, and 10th of their respective months.)
  4. Just noticed this morning:

The Leather sleeves (for the jackets) are showing empty sleeves/invisible arms through the "V" in the back where the sleeve is pushed up on female models. (The forearm texture just stops and there's nothing there, much akin to the old bugs with invisible arms.)

This is not happening on male models, their arm shows up just fine. I did not check on the Huge model. It does not appear to be linked to the jacket choice, as the sleeves did the same thing regardless of what jacket I paired them with.

Sorry Posi, but Honda and Irem beat you to it. Honda does use it to denote their high-powered line though, so maybe your Director thought he was being clever.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Honda and Acura were the first things I thought of, too, along with Nissan (Although Nissan doesn't use "Type R", they do add the "R").

I'm not sure if that makes me more or less strange.

*shuffles off to wash the car*
  6. Staves/Spears (Melee spears, not throwing. For scrappers, tanks, and brutes, I think. Staves and Spears could be customizable weapons for the same set)

Elemental MM pets (Not one set for each element, but one set of "Elements" where the different tiers of pets are different elements)
  7. If it were up to me, I'd simply remove all rewards from any run of an MA mission after the first on a per character basis.

    Why?

Because there's hundreds of pages of arcs, foremost. The odds of anyone ever "running out" of missions on the MA is slim to non-existent. Limiting rewards to one run per mission per character ensures that more of that content will get seen/played by others. (Not to mention helping out the authors, by increasing the odds that more than just a handful of missions will get played.)

Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I have no problem with people standing in the MA and grinding missions all day long if that's what they want to do. What I have problems with is the specific act of "farming", which (to me) is running the same mission(s) over and over and over.

Of course, that still doesn't cover how to stop missions being built as farms, but it would be a step in the right direction, I would think.
  8. Gotta toss a vote in for Projectionist.

Love Tacky's piece (and hope to see it finished, but just can't vote for it half-done - Wish you'd linked the lineart alone!), and the stained glass, and Nemesis vs. Azuria, but Projectionist captured the whole package.
  9. *crosses fingers*

Here's hoping this patch fixes some of the broken things* instead of just more tweaks to the MA.

*-like the chatbind bug, inability to set teammates' missions, disappearing capes, and improperly displaying shields that immediately come to mind.
  10. I love my buttcape. (Jay is Sexy) There's just one small problem with it. (Jay is Sexy)

I cannot adjust the inside color of the buttcape for SG mode, either in the Facemaker SGmode window, or in the actual SGmode window. (Jay is still Sexy) Also, being in either SGmode window does away with the "Copy Colors" button, so that's not a work-around. (Still Sexy)

Please take a look at this, oh Sexy Jay, so my widow can be as sexy (as Jay) in SGmode as she is outside of it?
  11. I'm going to guess that's why I can't use the words "Voodoo" or "Backlash", also.

And while I understand not wanting to have characters named -exactly- the names of pre-existing characters, I think it's rather heavy-handed to bar the use of the words at all.

(Which makes me curious: Has anyone tried to use 'The Rogue Isles' in a mission title? If that isn't blocked due to "Rogue", then all of the Marvel/DC character names need to be unblocked for use (when not used in their exact form for character names) within the Mission Architect system.)
  12. Thanks for reviewing the list.

Although I'm currently heartily stumped trying to figure out why two names that I have on live characters are causing the MA editor to spit out "Invalid name. Please try another." Seems to me that either Test has a more restrictive "blocked" list than Live, or perhaps something else is up?

(For the record, the two names I seem to be unable to use on NPCs in the MA creator are Paradox Backlash and Voodoo Six.)

    Sync Issues?

Not sure which of these two threads is actually being watched, so reposting a snippet of what just dawned on me that I posted in the other thread:

(In response to many mentionings of packet loss being what caused the OOS issue)

I hadn't thought about the OOS issue being caused by packet loss, however, which makes me wonder something:

Back in October there was an issue with Qwest dropping info to and from the NCSoft sites that caused a great number of players that used smaller providers (that routed through Qwest in Texas) to be unable to play/barely able to play.

When my connection starts going south and I fire up the ping and the traceroute, guess where everything ends?

That's right. Dead end at a Qwest server.

IS there a chance that this entire problem (and the reason we can't seem to pinpoint what causes it) is being caused by something in the pathway being borked?

    Sync Issues?

My stability and lagging and rubberbanding have been absolutely in the toilet for the past few days. I de-synced and stuttered around an entire Moonfire TF last night, and the situation never improved. Watching my characters* move around has been like watching the game through a strobe setting.

And then, to top that off, I hardcrashed from a mapserver or loading screen SIX times in the past 24 hours.** (Attempting to load into the SG base after a death produced the most crashes, at three.) I don't think I've mapserver/loadscreen crashed out of this game six times in the previous year prior to this.

    Please fix. Please.

*I couldn't swear it was ALL of my characters, but certainly most of them, across a wide level and zone and faction spread.

**And every time it was a different error message. 'BadNetProtocol', 'Cannot Load Map', 'Forcibly disconnected from server. Map is shutting down.'..
  15. The pen tool on Photoshop and my mouse, set to a 3 pixel/47% hardness setting. (I have a tablet, but I just can't stand it. Go figure.)

For traditional work, I use Micron V pens in various widths (Fine and Very Fine are the most used), although I have been known to grab any old black ballpoint in a pinch.
  16. Very nice stuff, Tartyr! *adds a watch* I look forward to more.
  17. Oh noes, I'm being watched! *hides*

    (Seriously, thanks! )
  18. Thanks for the kind words! Glad ya'll liked it
  19. I keep these three little girls in the afternoons after school, and they were all "We want to see you draw!" last week, so I whipped out this quickie sketch of Kailani, my not-so-baby archer on Virtue, and then decided I wanted to color it. So, here she is!

When I first started CoH I would frequently win costume contests - now, I never even get into the finals. What you guys are doing with these tools is freaking amazing. I am a little in awe of what you are able to envision and create.

Um, any advice? Any thoughts on using the color wheel to get something different, colors that seem to go well, tricks to getting a 3 or 4 color look, tips on which booster sets or infrequently used items to try, etc?

I am stuck making variation on the same two themes - spandex hero with two colors ala the X-Men or a stereo typical hot girl with a belly shirt.

I look at artists for inspiration (Daggerpoint, DarkJedi, CelticBolt, Lady J, BuckeyeStar, Juggertha etc.) but always drif back into my rut.

    Help, oh creative ones. Help!

I try to get into the character's head, think about what they would want to wear. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes you find those much-beloved pieces that you use over and over again...

Generally, though, I wind up finding a character's "signature costume" after tweaking whatever their initial costume was. I also try to find a signature costume piece, and/or color, and keep that around throughout each costume of the character's career.

Some costumes of mine, although a few are outdated due to rerolls and levelling and the Valkyrie pack additions not being shown. (Screenshots are pre-i13.)

I adhere (maybe 99.5%) to the 'No more than three colors' rule, although sometimes subtle variations of color get through. I'm also a big fan of the K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid) rule, which I interpret as: Just because a costume piece location exists doesn't mean you have to put something in in. Not every costume is upgraded by including chest designs or shoulderpads or belts. Many are, but not always.

Most importantly, though, play around with the creator. Look at other people's costumes. My two favorite current costumes (Wolfwhisper and Palladia) were both inspired by other folks' costumes that led me to look at something differently in the creator.

Play around. You'd be surprised what you can find
  21. Because I'm a sucker for any opportunity to show off costumes (but this is my only booster pack piece-user):

    Palladia

Palladia, aka Amber Montrose. Valkyrie shoulders, gloves, chest detail, boots (all non-winged). Leather chest, Armored pads legs, Visor face detail...and that sexy energy shield. Mmm. Energy shield.

  23. ...especially when I fail to notice the second storage bin on the other side of the room.

    *sheepish*

But yeah. Still not enough storage! Plenty of prestige for rent, though.
