Yes to the idea... but It's doubtful that they would be "flowing" in any way. The (Admittedly comic book) science behind Talsorian items wouldn't support that.
[/ QUOTE ]
My bad, I only based it off the appearance. I have no knowledge of Talsorian items beyond that, heh.
[ QUOTE ]
I would expect something much closer to the projection mechanism of the Talsorian Shield, likely just a small tech styled backpack while not flying, the using a telescoping cross bar to support a fixed wing more like that of an Aircraft.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, I'd never take Fly for that, but the backpack costume piece itself could be cool! -
Also, some characters with powers such as Full Auto + Flamethrower or my SS Tanker with Footstomp + Fireball really enjoy large mobs, even solo, without having to herd groups together.
It is a "Super" game after all. I'm really not biased either way on the farming front. I'd rather not farm and run missions with my friends than farm though. But when it's just me I would like to have this option to increase mob spawns for the reasons stated in my first paragraph. -
[ QUOTE ]
Also, would be good if 1-2 of the attacks were very, very thin cones, essentially making them straight line beams that hit anything along their path.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think any version of Pulse/Energy Rifle they add needs this for sure. A sniper attack that did this would be pure awesomeness. -
It's not saving any adjustments to the custom critter face sliders that I make after creating the critter.
If I go back in to edit that critter the face sliders will be reset to default. Even saving the costume doesn't save the facial slider adjustments and they reset to default.
I'm not really sure if they're even saving at all, as in after adjusting and creating them they'll just spawn up in missions without the adjustments. I was at my friends and didn't really test that though, I will when I get back though. But anyone else notice this and know if this is the case, or a bug or something?
*edit* Well it saves and works in missions at least so not a huge issue. Still, it's annoying whenever I have to edit a custom critter I have to readjust the facial sliders. -

so is everyone that pvp's. Ask Castle wtf you are supposed to do, he's the man with the plan.
Mac said kind of for kb protection because unless your kb protection is generated through kb IO's and/or click mez protection then it is susceptible to being suppressed by mez and then you can be knocked.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks.
I'll pass asking Castle though, probably just [censored] around out in the zones for a few days then just uninstall, maybe keep me from resub'ing again. -
[ QUOTE ]
Yes, yes, and kind of.
[/ QUOTE ]
Kind of?
And on the first two...wth is the point of all the different kinds of mez then? Considering almost anyone can pick up a hold power what would make using a sleep > hold? Both same base duration yet..? wtf... I'm so confused. -
So I just resub'd cause I'm bored, and this was always the game I'd come back to for a month or two. With all the changes, I'm curious about mez powers...
Are all mez powers on the same suppression timer? ex: if I stun someone they're immune to stuns, holds, sleeps, etc. for 15 sec's?
Are all the variety of mez powers really the same base duration? Just looking at the power stats in-game I see the base PvP duration of a sleep is the same as a hold or stun. Or an immobilize the same as a hold or stun.
Oh, and there is still KB protection but everything else is now just resistance right? -

Open world PvP fails in just about every single MMO out there, even one like Warhammer that was built around the concept.
Instanced PvP with equal number of teammates, mini-games, and rewards is the way to go.
[/ QUOTE ]
I disagree.
Planetside had awesome open world PvP.
Warhammer on the other hand has many other factors for why their open world PvP concept failed. For one, I don't think level based is ever viable to mix with an open world pvp game. Sure they say their concept is based on a open world pvp game, but it isn't. They're core game is based around RvR lakes, very similar to having PvP zones, along with instanced based PvP. They just happen to have PvP servers. Doesn't make it a game focused on open world PvP to me.
[/ QUOTE ]
Never played Planetside so I'll have to take your word for it.
RvR "Lakes" seems the same as Open WOrld PvP to me. Same as PvP zones in CoH. They stay the same and you come and go as you please.
Between RvR lakes and Scenarios, which one in your opinion was used by a larger percentage of the population.
I know I participated in both but found the Scenarios to be MUCH more enjoyable and much more frequent. Simply starting both sides with equal numbers is a big step towards having balanced gameplay in PvP in my eyes.
I liked Warhammer PvP just like I enjoyed WoW PvP, but that like was limited to the scenarios/battlegrounds.
I just wish CoH would get on that train and get off the one that they are currently on.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry, misunderstanding on what you meant by open world pvp.
I never considered "lakes" or zones as open world pvp. I just considered them as unbalanced forms of instanced pvp.
Open world PvP makes me think of UO, or SWG (when I played, pre-nge, pre-cu and during CU) where you went Overt and were simply in PvP mode. PvP servers, Overt status, etc. is what I considered as open world PvP and what I thought you were referring to.
[ QUOTE ]
There's something wrong with this statement. It's an FPS in an MMO world. :P
I'm not a fan of WoW, but when I played it I liked WoW's battlegrounds the most out of most games I've played. I did a little world pvp for a while but wasn't a big fan of it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nothing wrong with the statement, Planetside was simply a MMOFPS. Still counts as an MMO no?
Open World PvP needs to have something to fight over. Like guild cities, bases, etc. Games like WoW and WAR just give open world PvP a bad rep is all I'm saying. Their instanced PvP is much better because their world PvP is pointless or just a boring grind with nothing invested in it for the player. -

Ok, we know.
We should have had said something more by now, about Issue 13. But like all great architectural endeavors, Issue 13 is taking on a life of its own and were not quite ready to spill forth all the information.
So, just a quick note to say thanks for your patience, even though we know you may not really be patient. Trust us, its coming; were working on it and theres more great stuff coming (like you havent heard that before, but really, we mean it!)
Thanks!

Why do I feel like I'm at high school prom all over again and you're my date?

You know what I would love paying for, though?
Character Reset. The ability to bring a character to level 1, re-select powersets, and keep all badges, perhaps even change AT. Admittedly, badges would be the reason to do that, to begin with. There are many onetime only badges I will never get again in some toons I don't truly enjoy, that I would love to have. Like my Stone/Ice tanker, that I would love to reroll as a Elec/Elec tanker once the option becomes available, but wont because I don't want to loose badges.
But since now they are adding ways to pay for earnable in game things, how about to give us a task force that will reward us with payable things like server transfers or renames?
A Portal Corps TF that would allow you to go to another server!!!!
or a simple Identity Crisis that allows you to rename yourself at the end!

Genius!
/QFT, all of it. -
I totally agree with Yogi_Bare. I have a tank from way back whom has used up all his freespecs, vet respecs, and respecs from the trials. I think I've even used a couple respec recipes on him. But now I'm considering taking all his IO's off him (which he's loaded with nothing but purps, IO sets, and HO's).
Now all I'm saying is if this service was $3.50 or even $4.99 a pop I'd easily be tempted to spend $10-15 to get some of my enhancements off him. But it being $10 for one respec really puts me off to the whole idea. I just think in the long run you'd make more money by lowering the cost, seriously. I guarantee you I won't be purchasing one respec for $10.
Hell, if it was $2 a respec I guarantee you I'd buy 5 right now to get all the enhancements off my tank. -

This is a bit out of date. Since this thread still exists I'll add that Star Trek Online, Marvel, and DC all seem to have been canceled. Cryptic is now developing Champions which will have pvp options.
AoC is right now in a strong launch. Warhammer is currently expected to be out in October 2008 as something very pvp centric. WOW is adding more pvp options with its next expansion due in November.
Many of the old pvpers from this game still hope that a better red team versus blue team balance will come to this game as well. May we one day reach a point that everybody's characters will have the chance to have fun in COX's PVP.
/keep hope alive

Honestly WoW and its spawn of clones (AoC, WAR) don't interest me at all. Anyways even if they did its PvP in the same old fantasy setting as always, which is way different from CoX so I can't really see any competition except for PvP. The deep PvP game I'm waiting for is Darkfall Online which I don't think is to far away now, probably closer than WAR at least.
Champions is still a far way off from knowing how well PvP will actually be there, and farther still from actually playing it. But since CoX's revamp and fresh meat to the Dev team I'm hoping to see more introduced and rebalanced within its PvP ecosystem a least. I definately look forward to them completing the powerset proliferation and then perhaps some fine detail power adjustments. -

Hopefully, one day, "LOL PVP" flames in general will be inappropriate for this forum.
Sorry, carry on. -
What if they could remove the Repel and instead have it apply -Range? It would make sense in Telekinesis pushing away their energy blast, bullets, whatever, and melee having to get closer to hit.
Perhaps give Telekinesis itself a longer recharge time, less endurance cost, much less, and make it where it shuts off automatically after 15 seconds. Yet the -Range aspect would stay for 30 seconds maybe? Then it would be a 15 second repel, nothing to overpowered, as well as offer a -Range effect which would be helpful.
I don't know, just tossing it out there. -
Tell the truth Castle, the reason you nerfed Acrobatics was so your Battle Axe/SR Brute could KB someone in PvP.
It also hints at why you totally smited Telekinesis's Repel, lawl.
I WANT THE TRUTH!

Btw this part just gives out the joke:
'Players can optionally disable the Visual Sounds in the options menu, but are encouraged to keep them on, as all the sounds in the game are being removed to make room on the players hard drives for the new Visual Sound graphics.

I know it sounds crazy, said Brian Clayton, the Executive Producer and head of the NC NorCal office, but our research shows that a lot of people are building their own computers nowadays, and sometimes you forget to purchase speakers or headphones.

Im kinda eh about the whole market thing. I think it could be better. It's better than nothing though. All in all 4 stars. You didnt get 5 stars because we still arent receiving new powersets (Yes I predict I10 will suck becasue of this as well. Suprise me)

Same here. -
I know the new ones will be awesome, but in the meantime how come we can't toss some over that already make sense?
Tankers Primary:
Energy Aura - perfect to go along with energy melee....
Scrappers:
Ninjitsu - fits with so many of the primaries I wish it would be converted over.
Honestly I'd make another scrap and tank with those two power sets added over right now. Until the new sets are released I havn't even been playingI've been through almost all the powersets of every archetype now, even khelds.

I'm going to have to agree with what others have said, best word for word guide I've seen on here. I havn't been registered on the forums that long heh, but I've been reading and playing long enuff. Very nice write up.
I just had a friend make a DM/DA character and I'll have to get him to check this out.
I can say though that I remember a while back when I played around on my level 40 Brute who was SM/INV that I always had fun fighting scrappers. Using my stupid little tactic of low end. attacks and brawl until I got full fury to unleash on all the claw/regen or spine/inv scrappers, was awesome. But I always remember I got owned using that tactic against the dark meleer's lol. But awesome guide, awesome.
