  1. Since you don't want to be the Kheld, I can take the Kheld spot right off the bat with a Warshade, never had one past the 20s so it should be fun.

In the event that someone else wants it I can pick something else or swing to an open spot.

    <--- Location is global name.
  2. Any night except Tuesday is fine with me. As is the 6pm PST or after start. With the targeted start on this being September that could potentially make some changes to the available ATs if going with established characters as that's a few weeks after GR hits.
  3. I'm definitely interested depending on whether this is going to be start from scratch characters or if you want pre-leveled toons.
  4. For all those people that want CoH to be more like WoW here is the perfect first step!

At least it's only once...so far.
  5. I joined it as I figure it's another global channel to advertise teams on. VU seems the most active with chatter, and it's usually pretty good (I seem to miss all the drama) chatter at that.
  6. Best advice I can give is to start your bidding early, it took me about 3 weeks to complete my ToD sets, simply because of different recipes not being available at the level I wanted (33). If you're going with 40s I'd still start early, the Dam/End has been scarce lately. Other than that looks like a decent softcapped build. I'd try to fit a Recharge IO in on Shockwave, but that's personal taste on my part.

    DB & AVs?

What sets are generally good for slotting into the toggles for WP(+tough and weave). I'm working the BF+AV+PS chain now, and will eventually get it down to BF+AV, but I'm not sure what to slot in the toggles. I've got decent resources, but probably won't be dropping the inf for PVP IOs unless they come way down(the only one I'm considering is the chance for -res proc for Sweeping Strike). Any help would be appreciated, I'm not too concerned with Soft Capping as I rarely solo, but it would certainly be easier for me, as I duo a lot with an Empath who keeps me buffed with Fort and AB.
  9. I agree, if any build wants all 3 it's DM/Regen. It's also the only scrapper build I've ever played where I just HAD to have Tough.
  10. Virtue event zone crash again. Talos, now. I'm locked out of character I was on. I like the idea for the event, but this kind of stuff had to be foreseeable. Had to find a character that wasn't last logged out in Talos just to get back on.
  11. My BS/Elec is 37 and I don't have a travel power. I have Fitness pool, and sprint, and I have yet to miss it. Don't forget your temp Raptor Pack. I found DB boring as a stalker personally but YMMV. Love it on scrappers, though. The secondary is decent, don't let the detractors tell you otherwise, you have decent resists and don't have to worry about pesky end drain when you fight Carnies/Arachnos Mu/other crap I can't recall. Energize is a nice heal when slotted, and Power Sink is just icing on the cake.
  12. Taking my Bane to Siren's Call was some of the most fun I had while PVPing in 2.0. It got tiring quickly though when I realized that I pretty much had no defense. I switched to a Huntsman build to finish leveling, with the plan to go back to Bane on my second build. Hopefully I find RV more to my liking, all the other things I've pvped on seem to synergize so much better at that level than at the SC level.
  13. You may be able to respec out of it after Power Sink is slotted, but I can't even begin to imagine the first 36 levels without Stam. I'm 37 on my BS/Elec stalker, and even with Stam I was huffing a lot before Power Sink just from attacks and running the 3 shield toggles. There are just times where you have to "scrap it out" when you're solo. I haven't decided if I'm going to try the staminless thing now that I'm high enough to have Power Sink up in 30 seconds or less, my build doesn't seem to "need" anything else right now. Elec/ or Dark/ may be different, it'll be up to you to decide.

The toon was lvld and built in a traditional non-PL fashion and I learned the VERY basics of my Empathy pwrs by doing this. I also learned to solo albeit every slowly. I eventually copied the Emp to the test server where it was respec'd and given a 200mil dollar build. Back then, that was expensive. The thing was tricked out with IO sets to the teeth, hauled *** around the maps, had awesome resistances, and hit 2477hp with a Power Boosted Absorb Pain. This build had the single mandatory attack and it wasn't even present in my power trays. Why? PvP.

This was a standard PvP build. Call it cookie cutter if you want, but it was necessary to fulfill its role for the team. Having learned to roll this build rather well on test server, I then respec'd the live build. Granted, it's not as tricked out, as the money just isn't there to do it but the build is the same...it just lacks some set bonuses.

So now that I've become proficient in using this build to it's fullest, I am able to take a good team and make it great. I can make a bad team successful. I can roll it into the most difficult TF's and come out with a Master's. All this because I was brought onto the team for one reason: make the team an enduring death machine. And that's what I do. It's all I do. You will never see me taking my eye off the health bars and buff icons. If there are fewer than 4 Fortitudes going I'm slacking. I will not be seen casting an attack while one of my teammates is going down. And I will not be distracted from my role on the team by getting caught up in something other than a heal or a buff.

Fine if that's not for you. Play the Emp your way. That's why we have options. Most PUGS don't know the difference anyway. Just don't expect to stay on my team long when I invite you for your ALL you Emp abilities and you're not producing results. I recruit Tanks to be meat shields. I recruit Blasters to kill. Trollers better be holding/debuffing/buffing (they're the smartest players btw) everything. And if I see a man go down on my team while your Emp is attacking, don't cry when you get the boot. Don't make me ask/tell you to keep the CM and Fort flowing. And don't let me see those End bars dropping cuz you have AB and an RA that you better have mastered so well that you can drop that in the middle of a fight and hit the players who need it most (timing and free-flow movement).

Are my standards high? Yes. Is this the RIGHT way to play? No...but there is no right or wrong. But if you want that ever-yearned-for-recognition...well...my toon can Emp better than yours can. What did you expect with your build?

If you think I'm full of it, then look me up on Champion (@Liquid -). Put me to the test. Play suicidal. But I won't Rez you...I won't need to.

    ; p
Keeping Pingus alive is no small feat either.

My emp was designed for much the same purpose and then PVP was forgotten when wind blowing started to suppress you and decay your heals. I think the only time I've become frustrated in a team was when playing with a short bus PUG(Inv scrapper with no toggles at 44, Blasters that wanted to stand next to exploding jaegers, Shield tank that didn't take all of their defensive toggles). I think my empath is at once both the most proactive and reactive character I've ever played. It's certainly one of the most fun.
  15. Revised my build. Made some changes, kept some other things I liked from my first attempt. I'm right at the set cap for 5% and 6.25% recharge. Level 42 so far, which is a huge step forward from where it was a week ago. Here's the new build, probably still a few questionable choices, but the build works well for me. It gives me some offense, as well, as allowing me to do my job buffing and healing. It's not solo friendly but I can still get by on non EB missions.

This is a pretty good point. We all probably did something similar at one point or another. I know I was stupid enough to put taunt WAY late in my Tank build once. I also made sacrifices on my /Rad troller to get a travel power and fitness by 20, along with parts of my primary I thought were more needed in teams. You learn as you progress through the game, and through the time you spend playing it. Sometimes you just have to speak up if you think someone would benefit from alternate choices in their build.

The whole "you're doing it wrong" meme is tired. Let's put it to rest.
  17. Should have probably mentioned that I duo A LOT with a Dark/Dark scrapper so a few things have to do with buffing her(Assault for instance).

I addressed the KB prot gap above(total misclick on mids that I never noticed) til it was pointed out.

I am right at the 5% recharge bonus cap(5 sets), and I am certainly 6 slotting a lot of things where I don't need the bonus from the 6th slot. So some of those will come out.

I don't need 3 travel powers, SJ/SS is all I use, Teleport is one of those last power picks that I hope makes Shard travel easier as I doing each of those TFs. Recall friend is just a useful support power and I'm usually pretty fast to missions to help get the team together quicker. I like the Stealth in CJ, because of the low end cost, and I usually run SS/CJ in missions for stealthing.

Dropping the rez slots. I've never slotted an Empath before, so a lot of this is trial and error for me. The only problem I ever run into is having two people die at once (usually due to the team splitting), but with being able to make wakies from 3 other inspirations it's not so big of a problem.

Going to play around in mids some more with the suggestions made and see what I come up with.
  18. No wonder people are thinking I have no KB, the Karma Def/End is supposed to be the KB prot. Will reply to the rest when I get a few spare moments.
  19. Good call. I hadn't really thought about that, I figured the base range would be enough(Thought it covered the zone). I'll definitely make the switch, I don't use the rez all that much anyway, so could get away with the base slot.

I've been rolling at 33. So far I've done it with my Claws/SR brute, and my DM/Shield and Fire/Regen scrappers. The brute(about 15 rolls) had the best results/luck by far, netting him ~70 million, and that was with keeping the LotG and Miracle he rolled for himself. The scrappers were less lucky and only managed 1 LotG and a Zephyr -KB between them(15 or so rolls each). I kept the LotG and sold the Zephyr for 50 mil or so. My Emp/Psy should hit 33 today and he's sitting on enough merits to do another 10 rolls so we'll see what he comes up with. I used to roll low, I stopped when I kept getting all crap between 15-25.

I really haven't looked recently but the way the market's come down since issue 16 it should be considerably cheaper than that. This is just the essentials that build def of course; if you want to boost recharge, regen, recovery and so forth then you're looking at more sets, and more expensive ones at that.
I've been using the guide on my own Inv/SS, I can confirm the 20-40ish price tag(probably closer to 40ish currently). I did it using just the IOs listed, Kinetic Combat's are just too expensive lately, even the Pool A/B's. I went for 33s, as I generally begin IOing at 30, and with patience bids I had about 90% within a week.
  22. I'm currently in the process of attempting to rebuild my Emp/Psy. He was one of my first characters on what has become my main server, and didn't see a lot of play(his anniversary badges go from CoV Year 1, to CoX year 5) until recently (7 levels since friday and rising), I'm trying to decide the best way to go for IOs and such. I'm sitting on multiple vetspecs(I think all of them from month 1-48 are still intact).

So far I've slotted what was cheaply acquired, and I do just fine in large teams. This is the plan I have, tear it apart please, tell me what sets would be better, or for where I have commons, what sets would be best to slot.

OG is an offensive toggle, it gets shut down by holds, stuns, etc. Only defensive toggles suppress.

They are indeed the Mission Teleporter, and Mystic Fortune.
  25. Honestly, if you didn't speak up and ask why they weren't using Fort/CM and what not, you have no one to blame but yourself. If the team was doing fine without(and by your own admission, it was) then I don't understand the complaints other than some senseless need to rant about not getting a buff you never asked for.

As to them not blasting, I never had more than the required first secondary power for an attack pre 20, I devoted my power selection to things to benefit the team(like my entire primary, and leadership). It's possible they did the same.
