Spend or Hold

Ok I am dual boxing Positron on two mid-teen characters (elec/elec scrapper with a son/son defender on auto).

My question is this. Should I roll the merits, or should I just hold them and accrue them until i get up to the 30's where most people roll anyway. Any thoughts.

Bonus question. How duo-able would the clockwork king be in synapse tf. because I could lvl my elec/elec to 50 using synapse if that is feasible. Maybe have a Rad on follow?

Roll at low levels, and you can get valuable low-level stealths and Zephyr -KBs. Wait and you can get LotGs and other stuff. It's really a judgement call.

I'm not sure about elec/elec, but my BS/WP can solo the Clockwork King. It all depends on how we'll you built for low levels.

Well he is only lvl 16 atm, and that is not a problem on Positron, but before I would duo synapse I would wait until he is at least 25, so he would have those powers to use.

I don't roll many merits, but the super low levels seem to have a really high garbage-to-winner ratio.

I'd wait...plus, the more you roll at once the less likely you are to get a bunch of depressing junk!

What he said. A few things to aid in the judgment:

Just in case you don't know it: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Gold_Roll

If you want to earn the most, and you're rolling below 35-39, you should probably hold off til level 30+ to get the capped Basilisks and Eradications and a few others.

Zephyr/Basilisk/Eradication/Theft of Essence/Shieldbreaker/Cloud Senses start at 10 and all have 30 million+ pieces. As the Goat said, there is some dross competing, though a lot of the mezzes are fairly rare. Due to the weighting, if you roll any of 10-29 you'll get lots of Pounding Slugfest/Tempest proc/Pulverizing Fisticuffs/Salvos/Impervious Skin/Kismet Cs, which while not worthless, are not gonna earn tons, and probably will require crafting.

Stealths start at 15 and are very rare in the low levels now as the weighting is much against them.

Miracle and the Kinetic Combats start at 20 and LotGs at 25.

I personally roll at 33. I took a very unscientific poll and that was the most desired level (or was in the "most desired level range") for people who wanted sub-50 recipes. Hardly anyone slotted sub-30s except for, I presume, the "specialty" super high end stuff (miracle uniques, stealths, LoTGs, whatever.)

On the other hand, on the "1-50 in story based AE" team I needed to roll a couple times around 20 and 25, and I got very very good results.

I'd like to see the results if you roll every time you get 40 or more merits (2 rolls = less "I got a rock" experiences); so if you got 70 merits or 43, you'd still roll twice and keep the rest for "big roll" time. I'd even be willing to subsidize that by buying your crap recipes for 4 million each.

So you think you're a hero, huh.

While lvl 20 miracle uniques have been going for close to 200M a pop, I've just been buying them with my posi merits. This is because my toon for this is a perma 17 (with a full set of lvl 20 SOs) so the higher level real goodies aren't rollable. I may need to reassess if the price drops too much.

I tend to roll mine at 50 I'm sad to say, the 50s of the "good but not great" recipes just sell for so much more than any other level. Also the sets that stop at 40 are waaaay more lucrative if you actually get 40s.

It's true. This game is NOT rocket surgery. - BillZBubba

I have a rad/son and run him with a partner who has the same toon that I made just to run posi's for what it worth i just roll in the low levels. there is a lot of junk out there but you do get some very valuable low level items that generate a lot of cash. this toon is perma locks for this posi runs. we can run this in just under 2 hours with our best time at about 96 minutes if memory serves me right.

I've been rolling at 33. So far I've done it with my Claws/SR brute, and my DM/Shield and Fire/Regen scrappers. The brute(about 15 rolls) had the best results/luck by far, netting him ~70 million, and that was with keeping the LotG and Miracle he rolled for himself. The scrappers were less lucky and only managed 1 LotG and a Zephyr -KB between them(15 or so rolls each). I kept the LotG and sold the Zephyr for 50 mil or so. My Emp/Psy should hit 33 today and he's sitting on enough merits to do another 10 rolls so we'll see what he comes up with. I used to roll low, I stopped when I kept getting all crap between 15-25.

Just grab a Shivan to help with the DPS to help with CWK. I've dual boxed him a couple times.
