Quote:Cap's been in the life or death battles a lot longer than Spidey (also, Steve wasn't that much older than Pete when he became Cap), and has had real combat training and trains endlessly. for all Pete's agility and powers, he's really a crap fighter. He throws kicks and punches, but relies a lot, probably way too much on his spidey sense. IMO, that gives Cap the edge there.Thinking about that for a second, is that right? Cap certainly has more training but on the experience front, hasn't Spidey been having life-or-death fights on a more or less daily basis since he was a teenager?
In any case, in the past i would've thrown victory to the Avengers. But against the X-Men's "extinction team", the fight's gonna be nasty. -

Just gonna add in a few, i don't remember seeing them mentioned, and my idea of NSFW might be skewed.
Sluggy Freelance
The Gutters
VGCats
I need to get around to reading Schlock Mercenary. The writer Howard Tayler does a writing podcast i love, and the stuff he mentions from SM sounds pretty cool. Gonna be adding others here to my list.
Used to read 8 bit theater, but he wrapped that up a while back. -
Quote:Similar to what he did for Empire Strikes Back then? Since aside from cleaning up some bad effects in places, and adding them in others, had no real alterations made to the movie? But like I said in my last post in this thread I wouldn't mind if Lucas simply touched up the special effects of the originals. I don't need to see any new scenes or CGI stunt doubles spliced in like Nericus implied. But they could go back and clean up the appearance of things like the light saber blades with CGI improvements. Some of the pre-CGI animation effects are seriously showing their age at this point. The original trilogy simply needs the subtle "Star Trek Remastering" treatment.

If anything, the duels were the only worthwhile thing in episode 1. But they were a total ****fest in ep 2. Watching Yoda bounce and zip around was bloody stupid, and the fight between anakin, sarum..dooku, and obiwan was underwhelmingly meh-worthy. 3 was good, but over choreographed.

Agreed. It's not a great film, but it is a fun movie. Definitely worth getting the DVD.

Quote:And yet there are people who spend money on his books. Why does this annoy me? Because he's being put on books with characters i like (Hawk & Dove, Hawkman, Deathstroke for example) and unlike the other more popular characters, they only get 1 title per month (if that, i still have to wait for my new JSA book), so unless someone says something, NOT buying something isn't just telling the companies you don't like an artist or a writer, it's saying you don't want to read comics about that character and instead want to read another Batman, Superman, Wolverine, or Spider-Man title.ugh...really folks? People are whining over the friggin content in a comic book? Lemme ask you this....is anyone holding a weapon to your person and forcing you to read these comic books that you consider....inferior?
I get that people have to "vent" their frustrations about what they have read and why they feel it is bad for this reason or the other....
Personally I learned some time ago that my money does more talking than coming on a message board and complaining. Companies listen more to the bottom line than the "fans"...Why do you think I absolutely refuse to purchase anything that Mr. Liefield is involved with? I cannot stand his artwork...personally people with his level of ahem "talent" should be limited to childrens comics and nothing else. Same goes for some writers as well.
There are just some writers and artists I cannot stand and as such they do not get my money....that is simply all there is to it...
Why are we griping about it here? Because there are other fans here who share those same frustrations. Will it get anything done, not if all that's done is some kvetching here. But it does help to realize the opinion you have isn't yours alone. Rao knows knowing other people hate some of this tripe keeps me from tromping down to a con with a machete. -
So these are roller skates with a motor. Mm k. Skip it, get me my damn hoverboard!

Having only the different themed collections on DVD (Borg, Q, Klingon), i have no problems getting this new upgraded version of TNG. Sure, i can watch the show on Netflix, but with any luck this thing will have enough special features to keep me sated.

Bah, the '90s gave us the Valiant & CrossGen lines, and Dark Horse got their hands on the Star Wars license (among being an awesome place for other franchise comics). Also DC and Marvel got more right than wrong. The '90s gets a bad rap in comics that is completely undeserved because what folks remember most is crap like the Clone Saga and most of the Image books.

Quote:Answers my question about which books are next on the chopping block. Hrm, if we got Liefeld to draw a Batman book, would it get cancelled?
-
I don't think id call Mister Terrific the worst of the bunch, but it's probably close. Not shedding any tears over it being gone though. As for Hawk & Dove being cancelled? After being worked on by the artistic genius Rob Liefeld? But that is unpossible! Gonna miss Blackhawks though, i was starting to dig it. Don't particularly care about the other three titles. Might grab Men of War if it comes out as a trade though.
Another Batman title? FFS. Maybe if they cancelled one of the other 4 Bat books it wouldn't be so annoying. but the Bat Inc. title was weak sauce before the soft boot, and since Grant's still writing, i don't think its gonna get any better.
World's Finest and Earth 2 im looking forward to. One of the biggest crimes of the whatever-boot was the loss of the JSA. At this point ill take what i can get. Not really caring about the other 3. Makes me wonder what's next up on the chopping block. -
The Ultimate Spider-Titans? Still bummed that Spectacular Spider-Man, but here's hoping this new series will be worth it. As for the Avengers, i dont want to wait until April, i want the new episodes NOW! Also, can you really call it a programming block if you only have 2 1/2 hour shows?

Quote:I don't see why. Karate Kid's big thing is he's a great martial artist, but so is the Bat, and he fights dirty. Really dirty.Karate Kid should have kicked his butt. And Captain America in the DC Vs. Marvel Who'd Win(tm) miniseries.
Against Cap, it could go either way. -
Quote:I still dig the movie. I don't see why it gets the flak it does.<_< I thought The Patriot was a really well done movie myself. >_>
As for why movies suck, because some folks make bad movies. Always have, always will. And if you think there are no good movies, you're either way too uptight, or you just aren't looking and just like to *****. -

Quote:WW's son would probably end up being top jock in everything that could come even close to being an athletic competition if he attended a normal school. I don't see Diana being a "you must hold yourself back and hide who you are to fit in" kind of parent. Also depends on who the father ends up being.Wonder Woman's son is going to have an entire island of "aunts" who hate men while at the same time all his male friends in school want to spend all their free time over to his house to ogle his mom.
I don't think either would end up enjoying High School.
In Clark's case, before the re-whatever, his offspring would've also been Lois's kid. So i definitely see them going the "you must blend in and not use your powers to give yourself an unfair advantage" route and making it pretty hard on the kid.
But then the both of them would end up in the Teen Titans and we'd end up a different version of Connor and Cassie. My end verdict? Tougher being Superman's daughter. -
There is a shot of Ghost Rider peeing fire. His genitals are a demonic flamethrower!! Why are people not already digging this?

The man did some excellent work, helped create one of my favorite superheroes, and had one hell of run. He'll be missed, but he's earned his peace.
R.I.P. Joe Simon. -
Nothing there really grabs me, but i can't really judge from a one or two line description.

Looks about as action-y as the last one. But I get squicky when it comes to slaughtering Joes wholesale, and this feels a lot like Renegades (G.I.A-Team) so im not exactly jumping for joy. Also, no Destro?
Poo. Until i see more, ill wait for Netflix.
