good luck with that. MGM pulled funding from the SG:A DVD movie and sank into the production of SG:U. There's also some bad blood between some of the execs and several members of the SG:A cast.

would still be nice to see an Atlantis movie.

    frakking SG:U.

ill miss Favreau on the third film, but it makes me wonder who they'll try to bring in as his replacement. as for Marvel's track record, their actual influence hasn't exactly been all that great until they got Marvel Entertainment up and going. if the current couple of Marvel movies are any indication of their direct input, then ill respectfully disagree about their ideas not 'xactly inspiring confidence.

while i didn't love the movie, and im a fan of the comics, i thought the flick was still dont pretty well. im a far bigger fan of Thor, and of Branagh, so i have bigger expectations with this movie. not so much because i really dig the comic, but because i like the director.

Admit it: that movie is so powerful that as soon as you saw that image you immediately heard Freddy Mercury sing, "Flash! Ah-ahhh! Savior of the universe!"

the both of you have managed to somehow bring Flash Gordon into an argument about the awesome of action flicks, and tie it to Transformers. you are both now my heroes.

Crisis events; DC's version of Technical Support for continuity. Fix one thing, break four others.
  9. is it sad that after seeing the trailer im thinking more along the lines of Robot Jox than Transformers? still looks cool tho.

no, it bored and annoyed me. two things id like fantasy books not to do when im reading them. that being said, it looks like there is quite a bit of cool stuff in the books, but IMO it felt like all the wrong things kept getting emphasis. ive got a rather sizeable stack to get through, but one of these days ill get around to reading the second book and might change my mind. but yeah, the first book, not all that great.

    no... not perfect, AWESOME!
  12. i got my hands on the first 3 books after hearing they were making a series out of it. i am less enthused for the project now after reading Game of Thrones, though i will admit that at least Sean Bean was well cast. while HBO does decent adaptation, they tend to deviate from the source material pretty quickly, and given how grim the series is, im interested in seeing what's going to end up being changed.

And also Wonder Woman just made her first appearance so apparently WW and metallo, and clark having knowledge of his kryptonian roots...and the discovery of kryptonite all happened in year 10/11 according to what im reading... v.v
yeah, sadly this ended up being one of the biggest problems coming up out of the first Crisis. While some titles ended their runs on time, others didn't, and some titles were ongoing while the Crisis was still resolving and afterwards. the idea was to TRY and start from scratch, but editorially it proved infeasible so we ended up getting one overly confused, frakked up timeline. in Superman's case, Byrne retold Clark's history with Man of Steel and while i think he did an excellent job with it, his other titles still carried with business as usual, while trying to take place in the new timeline.

IMO, the reboot Superman was a better, stronger character, but they really didnt hit their stride until the early '90s when the titles all started being linked together.
  14. i saw the last one in theaters, dug it for the most part. this one will probably just as much a mix of incredible stupidity and ungodly awesome. so yeah, why not?
  15. see, normally id dismiss this story completely out of hand just by virtue of only being brought up by 'The Sun'. but it is Lucas, so it does seem possible that this is what he's doing, possible, but not likely.
  16. i feel cheated in that i had the option of either seeing this or another disney movie. sadly, the people i was with were paying for tickets, so off we went to see tangled. mebbe ill be able to score a ride and check this out sometime this week.
  17. caught the first couple seasons of this a while back, not a bad concept overall.
  18. i dont particularly dislike Jonah Hill, but im not that big a fan either. also, i dont think he's EVER been in anything that wasn't a comedy, so my faith in a 21 Jump Street movie helmed by him is lacking to say the least.
  19. the bright side, even if the movie sucks on toast, the soundtrack will be awesome. though i wonder if they'll incorporate John Williams' theme into the movie at some point or just scrap it.

That large of a discrepancy would create a cascade of blatant differences that I don't think could be marginalized.
the size of the DCU Earth vs. Marvel earth was brought up in the JLA/Avengers crossover, which to a extent, is considered partially canon for the DCU since it's been referenced in a couple of mainstream books over the years. i dont know if it's 4x larger, but it is bigger.

Also, had an episode where an intersect of sorts was put into sunglasses.

I'm not sure if these were exceptions or not.

What I do recall is, not many could handle it, that's why the Professor wanted to recruit Chuck, and why Bryce sent the glasses to Chuck.
if we're looking for the simplest reason why Chuck was able to handle the full blown version of the Intersect when a lot of other folks couldn't, im going with the fact he exposed as a youngin' to a very raw, very early version of the Intersect that was nowhere near as damaging as the full version, or the various updates.

you've heard the term "stranger than fiction"? or somebody tells a true story so weird that they couldnt possibly make **** like that up? because even if something could plausibly and consistently happen, if it even smells implausible or impossible, then it IS implausible and impossible as far as fictional characters are concerned regardless as to whether or not somebody real got away with it. it's just fricken weird what some folks will accept and some won't.

as for the Batman problems. i love how sometimes that no matter well written a fight is, and plausible the victory is, most of the anti-Bats arguments boil down to "pfft, he only wins because of plot armor!"

That's how fast Flash is suppossed to be.

Same with Superman, who can hit a lot harder.
and yet, Supes generally doesn't act initially at that speed because he lets the intimidation factor set in on most human enemies. hoping theyll figure out how pointless it is and just pretty much give up, and it has happened. as for the Flash, in a straight up fight, yea, Flash pwns.

so we're supposed to accept that Batman would EVER take anyone on in a straight up fight? frak that.
