  1. Played both BS and Katana and Katana does come up on top in terms of style.

For secondaries I love SR, when you've got it right and see your character dodge loads of melee hits consecutively it looks like agents from the Matrix dodging bullets.

Recently I can't help but laugh at those poor Nemesis guys chucking their bullets at me to no avail

And yes I'd have to agree, Eagle Claw from MA looks hawt!

    Congrats Fog!

This is his 2nd 40 now, and the first member of Pure Evil to ding the final level. Congrats mate, throughly deserved

    BS/SR troubles

Maybe the broadsword is so heavy it slows down the SR

You can get a passive AoE defence called Lucky which I think it's available at 28 off the top of my head, which does help to a certain degree.

SR may be hard to get use to begin with, but becomes very rewarding later on. Looks especially cool when you see your character dodging 5/6 melee attacks from mobs of similar level.
  4. Well done matey! Took you a great deal of effort but you finally made it, great stuff!

    SMASH!
  5. Well done for reaching the four zero! You always take the time to help others delaying your progress, but you finally made it. Well deserved.

    Nice one matey
  6. Real damn shame about yesterday mate. Hope it all goes well this Friday if it does go ahead.

And gratz on yet another 50
  7. Hah you bet Flick! You're my witness in that

But everyone knows that it's always Psi's fault when something goes wrong, Addiction saves me most of the time though, so when he's not around it takes me a few deaths to realise I can't run in like the mad Irish bomber from Sin City.

I've died so many times now it doesn't even bother me anymore! Best team I've ever been in
  8. There are quite a few points that I agree with you there Soul Warden.

Solowise that sounds like a pretty nice and fun strategy there. Narrow coridors are my favourite, few trip mines alone the way, ignite the door, then 2 AoE attacks to finish the job.

Howver I usually play in a team, nowadays its the same team everynight, we have a great laugh and we all know what each other's like and get the job done.

But to the point, yes, AoE isn't too helpful in PvP which is one of the Corruptor's stronger points. Personally in PvP I'd go for the weakest AT first, or if it's a team we all concentrate on one person.

In terms of facing large groups of high level mobs, AoE is pretty much instant doom. In this case, my build accomadates for me to support team mates and single out minions.

Although I do have a nasty habit of just hitting AoE, dying, and my mates casting Vengeance and Rez

It sometimes feels like the villains are missing a ranged damage dealer class. We get brutes, who are good when enraged, stalkers, who are one-hit wonders (close range so far), and then we get corruptors... which odly are far behind in dealing damage. And no wonder people think of corruptors as a support class, and tag 'em with the "you heal me, OK buddy?" tag.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not sure, I feel I deal decent damage at range, for a Corruptor anyway. Fair enough as the basic principle that Melee will always be stronger then Ranged, but I feel again it depends on your build.

Most times if a minion of the same lvl doesn't have resistence to Lethal damage, I can take one out with Snipe followed by Shotty. That's taking one out before they can even get close.

Though AoE would probably be my strong point, and that causes way too much aggro, and debt to follow, but all fun fun fun
  10. It's a shame that Corruptors are seen as Defenders in a stereotupical point of view. In fact what I just said was a bit biased.

Corruptors can be a very good damaging class, but they're biased as healers in many eyes.

It's the same for Defenders as well, not all of them can heal but can provide very useful buffs/debuffs, but generally speaking, people expect defenders to heal.

I'm just trying to break away from that mould, though Soul Soldier is designed to be an all rounder.
  11. Unfortunately I am on Defiant, so I can't help you there

You raised a good point about builds. I'm actually built for PvE but can respec to PvP later on. For example, I'd change Teleport friend to Teleport foe and have more traps etc.

The only power I use from the traps set is web grenade, I don't bother with anything else.

Surprise is also a key element. I do tend to catch blasters by surprise, although it has happened to me. Immobilisation isn't a problem for me as I can just TP out of there, heal and go straight back in when they least expect it.

The AR powerset is really underrated, I've yet to see a Corruptor who has an AR in all my 36 levels. My main weapon would be my sniper rifle. As it is, range is my main advantage, so I can always hit them before they can reach me. If they're too close, a web grenade will take them down (using Jingle Jets at the mo so all my fights have been airbourne).

They can't move while immobile, yet I've got enough range between me and the blaster to get another sniper shot in. If they're too close, I can just use ignite (DoT) and bugger off to a good range, while they still take decent damage from it.

All in all, I haven't had a problem with blasters, one on one. Two on me will probably cause problems and I think I won't be able to cope.

But I still think although Blasters may have the firepower, Corruptors can match them in other ways.

Once Blasters have less then half health, Scourge will come into play and it'll be too late before they can use Defiance.

Also just to point out, I PvP in Siren's so the level's capped at 30.

    Hope that helps.
  12. Depends on how you build your corruptor.

Personally in PvP I've taken down blasters more then they have with me. I'm not a support Corruptor, I'm more damage inclined so matching the Blaster's offensive strategy.

    That and I have traps

There's been more then one occasion where I've got a Blaster trapped in a web grenade, with about 40% health left, one sniper blast with a scourge is more then enough to take them out of commission.

It's the scourge factor that really comes into play here.

But that's sticking with 1 on 1s. I've never been able to take on a tanker or a scrapper, and I don't think I ever will.

    Stalker Binds

    Placating

    - Error 404, Stalker not found...

    AS

Think alternating random comments will keep you amused for about a minute. Eg:

    - "Hereeeeeeeeeeeeeeee's Johnny!"
    - "BANZAIIIIII!"
  14. [ QUOTE ]

In teams don't feel bad about not staying to scrap. I'd think that most teams would prefer you popping up every 10 seconds to take out the bosses and lieutenants, rather than spending five minutes scrapping to take out a minion.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's possibly one of the best pieces of advice you can have for a stalker. By the time you scraped with your regular attacks, your AS would recharge and you can deal so much more damage by that time.

Don't be afraid to hit and run, that's what stalkers do, you're not a scrapper.
  15. The whole event weas a great idea and it was unfortunate that lag got in the way.

As a villain, I killed/help killed a lot of heroes and got faceplanted the same number of times (got held then scrapped to death, damn you controllers! -shakes fist-). We were seriously outnumbered, but overall I had a lot of fun

I have to say though, a lot of my kills and deaths would not happen in normal circumstances. I managed to kill a few defenders and controllers, but only because they didnt move from their spot and I can pretty much bet they would have done something about it the lag wasn't in the way. Then again I think most players were in the same situation.

Although saying this, if this was your first PvP event, try visiting Siren's Call on a regular basis, usually there's no lag at all, a lot fewer heroes and villains, but there is something going on most of the time. It's a good time to practise your PvP ideas and tactics and most Heroes/Villains are pretty friendly.

Hmm gone a bit off topic, sorry
  16. I guess it really depends on the characters here.

If I was on my scrapper I would probably fight to death, as I excel in close combat and I'd rather risk dealing a finishing blow then running away and get shot down.

But last night, if I'm going up against a scrapper with my corruptor and he calls me a runner, well duh! You think I'm going to stick around and fight a scrapper in melee one on one? Range is my advantage with that character and I'll use it by all means. I will also escape battle with this character too.

It's all situational, if it was a blaster/defender I'll stick around but I'm not staying anywhere near tankers/scrappers.. and controllers just scare me :P
  17. I'll try to get to 25 before then, if not I guess I can always gain it during the mission.

I'm sure we'll be able to find some members when the time comes. Am looking forward to it!
  18. Sign me up mate with my Corruptor - Assault Rifle/Traps.

It's Soul Soldier here, we took out the Sea Witch the other night, would be good to team up again =)

I don't know what the minimum levels are though?
  19. Yeah 8 seconds sounds like a pretty short amount of time but I can't recall how many times I've had a status affected me during that window. That's with a good SO and Quickness.

It's really upto you if you want to risk that 8 seconds, otherwise, there's not much harm in adding an extra slot for a perm.

Hmm, just realised, only 8 seconds, seems like a lot longer when you're in trouble =)
  20. It's good to put yourself into other ATs to find their strengths and weaknesses because it makes you a better PvPer overall. You'll definately learn something, if not for your own character but if you know who you're fighting you can avoid their strengths and expose their weaknesses.

Perhaps an arrangement to meet up in Bloody Bay or somewhere similar to actually test ATs for both heroes and villains? As a stalker I feel that I can hide from most enemies but I don't know actually know what the hero sees, if they really can see me. So learning more will make it worthwhile.
  21. I haven't read the posts previous to this so I apologise if I do repeat something that someone has said earlier.

Personally, I have a Stalker and a Corruptor, and it is a lot of fun being a Stalker in PvP, I do use it for its designed feature, assassination. As I use my Corruptor for support on teams.

Okay back to the point here, if you want a tactic against Stalkers, it isn't a good one, but try moving around as much as possible, don't stand still unless you need to, and even then make it a few seconds tops.

The stalker has this delay on an Assassin Strike, even if u land totally still next to an opponent for half a second and trigger it, it will be interupted automatically.

I remember chasing someone in Bloody Bay trying to to strike them but they kept moving about making it impossible for me to get them.

And if you can afford to launch offensives in the air (way above the ground), that's probably your best bet. Stalkers cannot do Sin Strikes in the air (unless they have hover I think, haven't tested that).

    Hope that helps.

    level 13

Might have been you lol, I know I struggle with white mobs with one AT, but another one I can take several of them on.

I know I spent a great deal of time in the Hollows up to about 15 or 16, getting into teams of at least 5, that really rakes in the experience which was why I spent so long there. After that, Steel Canyon was my playground.

    Ahhh good ol FrostFire..
  23. Uzzi_

    PvE stalker

I think it really depends on how you use your stalker that determines if you deal the critical blow that saves the team or get massacred in the first few seconds.

It's true that when their position is compromised they can be in a very dangerous situation, depending on how you go about it.

I've seen stalkers go in and when the team is about to attack a group, the stalker goes in first and does a strike, well, I'd imagine that stalker wouldn't last very long under normal conditions.

The way I play is wait for the group to become aggroed by a team member, so while the whole group's attention is focused on visible allys, I can get a strike off any enemy and take them out without fear of attracting a lot of attention.

    Bit of common sense helps
