Using Insp vs Saving money and just Dieing
Hey Stryker,
Whilst I admire anyone whos idea of PvP is to fight to the death.
To me PvP is all about staying alive and running away to fight another day is a valid tactic (especially for squishy scrappers).
As is using your escape powers to your advantage eg. phase shift, tp etc.
Saying that if I die then it's no big deal it's all part of the fun.
You could always agree in advance to fight someone one on one to the death if you wanted ? I'd happily accept that.
I don't mind people running away, sometimes the chase can be interesting weaving in and out of buildings and avoiding NPCs. To be fair I've started using Insp just so I can kill them faster. I'm probably just being daft.
I'm only a Defender so I'm not good in 1 on 1, altho I do have my moments.
I think its just against bad builds though.
I'll be in Siren's Call tonight if you want a fight.
Aren't inspirations 50 influence/infamy each? I don't think anyone will be going bankrupt very fast...

Thats true, I can't see it happening some how lol. They need to put a Insp dispenser in Siren's Call. So I don't have to leave and lose all the bounty I collect.
Absolutely, thats one of my pet gripes about the zone. You have to leave it to sell all your Enhancements too, which is a right royal pain.
well stryker , those 10k goggles can buy you tons of insp in the first place .
secound , the fun comes from fighting .if youre end drain = you cant use youre powers = you cant have fun . thats why i eat some "blue pills" when we fight .
as for the runing theres no point imo continuing a 1\1 fight when 4 others jump on you . guess aint much fun for neither of the players that were 1\1 .
many times i just stay there and watch a ongoing 1\1 . i could just join and kill with a AS the hero but i would be ruining those 2 players game fun ( something for some people to think about) .
ganking is never much fun for either side , but i admit some people or classes just cant kill without ganking .
always remember to try to make pvp fun for both sides , if people get ganked\killed\bored all the time theyll give up pvp and youre left with a empty zone .
so try respect everybodys fun\play and try play fair to ( at least thats what i try ) .

True, but they take up space and you have to leave the zone to get some more.

My end drain is my style of fighting. No fun for you, but I love it when someone runs out of End.

Shame not all STalkers are like you lol. I was having a discussion online last night with a Corruptor because Stalkers kept stealing his kills.

Some ATs need a team to take them down. Tanks, Brutes and some Stalkers There was even a MM last night who gave myself and 2 scrappers a run for our money last night. (They were new at PvP though.) Never happened twice though
Hiya stryker i feel that the whole point that people run is becasue of pride that they just don't want to be killed especially if it can be avoided by runnin. Cos i know that if i was low on health i'll rather run than stay there and die more so on a squishy like my blaster rather than my brute or scrapper.
Another reason is that maybe some people actually care about there pvp rep points that goes down each time u die or there the bounty target in sirens
Oh and your sun stalker im dark neo we had quite a nice fight in sirens a few days ago and i guess this just goes to show that not every stalker is about 1 shottin and runnin away and they can scrap a bit as well.

Stryker you saying you didn't have fun chasing me around Siren's the other night? I had lots of fun! Had to use a full tray of inspirations and was about two seconds away from death when finally managed to make it back to the villain base.
If I'm in a fun fight where I have a fair chance of surviving for atleast a few seconds, I usually stick to the very end because it's more fun for both sides. But if it's 3v1 or more I usually run. I don't want to be an easy target and I don't want them to get the bounty and rep too easily. Otherwise I have no gripes about dieing.
I don't mind people running off, but It ticks me off when they head to the safe zones and drone hug. Why bother coming into PvP if thats all your going to do?
I guess it really depends on the characters here.
If I was on my scrapper I would probably fight to death, as I excel in close combat and I'd rather risk dealing a finishing blow then running away and get shot down.
But last night, if I'm going up against a scrapper with my corruptor and he calls me a runner, well duh! You think I'm going to stick around and fight a scrapper in melee one on one? Range is my advantage with that character and I'll use it by all means. I will also escape battle with this character too.
It's all situational, if it was a blaster/defender I'll stick around but I'm not staying anywhere near tankers/scrappers.. and controllers just scare me :P

Yeah I had loads of fun chasing people, its just when they get back to base and stay there. I think a drone got me in the end.

I've started seeing Villains hugging Hero Drones. This just seems silly. Villains committing suicide just so the Hero doesn't have a chance to kill them.

This is why I think PvP is better when centered in the middle of a zone to avoid this running in and out of bases.
Saying that as a defender I did run once all the way back to the hero base after being chased about half a mile across a zone. I dont see any problem with that it's just survival instincts.

Two Masterminds were doing this the other day, and one of them was most wanted. I kept divebombing the base just to annoy them, got half their health off before the Drone finished me

Was that me? I was in Siren's for a while last night, doing some missions. Got bounced by someone, who died rather quickly thanks to 'da boyz', but then they came back and got revenge. Rather nicely
Later on, I jumped into one of the battles, where there were 2 or 3 heroes running around. Got blatted, but it was fun while it lasted...and the heroes knew that there was a zombie MM around
Anyway, yes I am relatively new to PvP - it's not the reason I play the game, and I rarely make a foray into the PvP zones. Just when I'm at a loose end, and fancy testing out my build...see you in there again, I hope!
I remember fighting you, was good fun and I hope to see you on Wednesday
Running away is just a natural reaction that has been brought about by the dynamics of PVE play, you die, you get debt so you try to run. There are many times when it would be more prudent to let yourself die than run and have to rest and yet I would say the vast majority of people on hero and villain sides try to run.
Its instinct not common sense

Its your fault

I dont run, maybe Im strange that way. But I do try to stay alive long enough to get a kill before I die.

Always run, but never to the safe zone. It's a pride thing.
I do hate people who run to the safe zones in warburg though. What's the point in being there to fight if you're gonna do that whenever you're losing...?

yet I also think ganking has to do alot with this behaviour as well. Ive seen it happen once (might be the same 2 MMs) when i was taking duke for a lil pvp rampage in sirens. 2 were staying at the drones sending pets at heroes outside. However I must say that even although dronehugging might be not that brave a tactic, waiting outside the base with bout 8 heroes (which was the case then) doesnt really leave them with a fighting chance as well. So after I found that no backup for them was coming I just left seeing ganking aint exactly my share of fun as well.
I think that unless the major ganking (especially with basecamping) stops, tactics like these will keep being used.
"god, how many devs did hami have to sleep with to get ED?"
Total Cat @Stagefright
To be honest i think a lot of the time villains cant get out of their base due to large numbers of hero's waiting outside. A random teleporter might be a idea in each base. You step into it and you take a chance as to where you get teleported to on the map. Would give peeps a chance to get out of their base without getting killed by the waiting mob.

Absolutly agree, I only run to safe zones for AFK, to get a cup of coffee or the likes.

I've seen it a few times now and was wondering what everyone thought.
Its mainly Stalkers but I've also seen Corruptors and Masterminds run from battle when they are either out numbered or they think they are at a disadvantage. I have several ways of stopping them, but they use Inspirations to counter it. I must cost them alot of inf because of the amount of inspirations they use.
I'm guessing they want to appear good at PvP by not dieing. I'm pretty sure most of them could kill me if they actually stayed. AFAIK nothing is lost if another player kills you, not reputation, bounty or anything else. So why run?
It would cost less if they stayed lol.
In the Arena there was a reason to run (stop the other team scoring), in the PvP zones the only reason I can see to run is to stay alive so you don't have to go back to the base. Then everyone runs back to the base anyway.
