Quote:I was already aware. But I plan to use at least 1 extra slot in Lucky for something related to endurance, so I need to be 29 to finish out the early build. So I rounded off to 30 & just skipped mentioning the details. If you go with lowest level ont he uniques, you could have 3 slotted stamina, 15% from Miracle and 10% from Numina at lvl 27!
Just so you know

My fave sets are shield, super reflexes, willpower, invuln, and energy aura. Shield wont work with titan weapons. Energy aura wont let me see my character well due to the invis toggle. So that leaves invuln, SR, and WP. I will prob make a brute.
I had decided to skip Invuln since my main Street Justice character is an Invuln scrapper. I was going to lean towards super reflexes, but this thread is really making me nervous about endurance costs. Are they really that bad?
I have some Hero Merits saved so I will buy a level 20 miracle and a level 30 numina. I also have 6 kismet and gift of the ancients pairs crafted in my base and 5 or 6 pairs of whichever melee set has the 1% recovery bonus.
So basically by level 30, if I go with Super Reflexes, I could have 3-slotted stamina, 15% recovery from miracle, 10% from numina, and 2% x5, 1.5% x5, and 1% x3 from set bonuses. So 45% or so. Hopefully that would make the set playable.

I pretty much never deliberately copy any Intellectual Property for my characters.
Recently it happened accidentally or subconsciously. I was desperately searching for names to go with a powerset I wanted to play (Street Justice/Energy Aura). I was fishing around and found the name Witch Boy. I made the character in a suit because I was thinking he could be a witch boy in witch school, but that he was more interested in fighting than in magic.
Around level 8 or so I realized I had a character named Witch Boy who looked just like Klarion the Witch Boy. Ok, mine didnt have grey or blue skin, as Klarion often has. And my guys hair was blonde, not black. And my character doesnt cast spells. But he was running around in formal clothes and his name was Witch Boy. So I radically changed him to look like a swamp gas spirit, so he is just a pitch black fey entity who gives off a ghostly fire. No clothes. Just a burning hole in reality. His mom was a witch. Kept the name. Not even remotely like Klarion now.
So I avoid IP infringement aggressively.

I hope they keep it too. Tho I guess if it doesnt work on test ... Or maybe it just moved on test, like the Pocket D entrances used to.
Is there a thread of eadter eggs somewhere? Someone mentioned dev hideoutd in this thread, and I have no clue what that means.
Lewis -
I agree with the OP almost entirely. The only incarnate trial I enjoy is the BAF. I enjoy it despite having lots of losses there recently.
Lewis -
O_T,
Hey, I like figjting statues, thanks. Tho there are enough things that resist control that its really not always like that. But Ice and Illusion might as well be fighting statues. The fact that the bad guys wiggle around is just an illusion.
M,
Icy Assault is fine. If it fits your concept, go for it.
If you wanted to have an alternative that you colored blue, consider Psychic Assault. Pretend that the modified blue effects are "cold energy" or something. And Drain Psyche can be Leech Heat.
Anyway, just an option. Ice/Ice should be fine.

I just realized I only had 4 sets with 6.25% recharge in the build, so there is room for another. So you could put a Posi Blast set in Carrion Creepers (one should be the posi proc) and you will have damage in the power and only be a couple seconds shy of permahasten. Good enough. Im the 6th CC slot, throw a level 50 rech IO in to get CC well under perma, or throw a Trap of the Hunter dam proc in there so you have 2 damage procs in CC. Tho if you do that, your CC will itself be a second or two over perma.
Anyway, just providing options.
Lewis -
Glad I could help.
When I posted it, I also posted it to the new builds forum. Someone on there had some info that Carrion Creepers is better with damage, and that the effects in CC that allow procs to happen don't all work with the Grav Anchor proc. Personally, I dont care. My Plant/Storm used Grav Anchor and/or other Immobs and it was fine for me. But you could throw a Ragnarok in there if you save up some money. Or just frankenslot it and lose a bit of recharge. Its not like being a few seconds short of permahasten is a big deal.
Anyway, just giving you a heads up. Here is the link to his comments for when you tweak your build:

Cool. Its all good. You could put a damage purple set (Ragnarok) in it too if you want. I never particularly noticed anything wonky. But I appreciate the info.
Lewis -
All,
Here is a Plant/Storm build that I think is useful. It has T1 Cardiac, reasonable toggles, it is 1 second off perma-hasten. It has some procs (2 in roots, 2 in Carrion Creepers). It has ranged defense capped at 44.9%. It is close to def capped on S/L and Energy. It is a pretty affordable build, in that the 2 purple sets are among the cheaper ones, and everything else is either affordable, OR you can run Hero Tips for merits if you put in a little time.
Hope someone finds it useful!

Here is the build in Mids' planner. It has capped ranged defense, high (over 40%) S/L and Energy defense, good all-around defense numbers otherwise (for when allies have defense buffs or for when you eat a defense inspiration) and it also is only about a second over perma-hasten. It has good recovery and low endurance usage thanks to having T1 alpha cardiac. You could go T2 or beyond if you want.
Hope this is useful.

Procs in Roots and Carrion Creepers are good.
With as much globsl recharge as my build has, you could keep the 6th slot for procs in both roots and CC and still scrape 2 slots to shift up to the Frozen Armor build. Take the 5th slot from Vines and one slot from Freezing Rain. You could still take the achilles heel and also 2 of the set that gives the damage bonus. Then shift the 2 slots up through the build so you can take Frost Breath, Ice Blast and Frozen armor. That way you can keep range cap def, pick up near to capped S/L, pick up more global recharge with LotG in Frozen armor.
That should let you keep Roots 6 slotted along with Carrion Creepers. Then Roots can have the 5 Posi blasts invluding the damage proc, plus another damage proc from another set. CC can have the grav anchor set in 5 sloys with one of them being the chance for hold, and the 6th slot could be a damage proc. Good ti,es.
BTW, people often slot damage sets in Roots because its base damage is strong for an AoE immobilize. So it is actually a nice component of your damage.
Hope you have fun playing the combo. I love my plant/storm.
Lewis -
S/L defense is nice. I prefer ranged on a controller because it neutralizes most of the simultaneous retaliation, including hostile mezzes (which usually are not S/L).
In theory you could do both. If you went with ice on my build and used ice armor for your final power, and pulled the 5th slot from vines and maybe the 6th from carrion creepers and then shifted slots so that you can get the 3 LotG on Ice Armor, you could keep all your ranged def capped while making your S/L defense very solid too.
EDIT: at least 43.4% to S/L def, while keeping the other def, plus you pick up the 5th Luck of the Gambler.
Lewis -
I dont have Mids but here goes nothing.
Strangler 4 basilisks
Roots 5 posi blast and 1 proc
Seeds of confusion 6 coercive confusion
Vines 4 basilisk and 1 other IO
Carrion creepers 5 gravitational anchor & 1 proc
fly trap 6 blood mandate
Gale no slots
Snowstorm no slots
Steamy mist 3 luck of the gambler
Freezing rain 3 of whatever set gives the dam bonus plus 1 achilles heel % for debuff
Hurricane 4 dark watcher
Thunder clap 6 stupefy
Tornado 6 expedient reinforcement
Lightning storm 5 decimation
Stamina 3 slots of whatever
Health with a miracle
Hasten 3 level 50 rech IOs
Super speed with 2 blessing of the zephyr (one being -knockback)
Hover with 1 luck of the gambler & 2 blessing zephyr (move and move/end)
Maneuvers with 3 luck of the gambler
Boxing unslotted
Tough unslotted with steadfast 3% def IO
Weave with 3 luck of the gambler
Epic blast with 4 thunderstrikes
Epic aoe with 5 positron blasts
One epic or other power undefined.
That gets you 43.5% or so ranged defense, 27% aoe def, and 101.25% global recharge not counting hasten. So basically permahasten. Pick up Cardiac for the alpha.
You will have 2 damage procs in roots and a hold proc and a dam proc in carrion creepers if you wish. I prefer fireball but if you went with the ice epic for frost breath and ice blast, you could get another luck of the gambler in the build. Or you could pull out a proc and one or both extra proc powers and have a few more slots for capping ranged def by 6 slotting the blast with thunderstrike. I prefer procs. Or you could pick up fire shield and mule the gladiator def IO for 2 billion.
Bottom line: you can have your cake and eat it too with plant/storm.
Enjoy!
Lewis -
Well my friend taught me that if you make a concept character, you have to take Flurry. And you know, just to piss off people, slot it with absolute amazement.
Flurry ... You know you want to.
Lewis -
Oh. Guess my above reply was semi pointless. I didnt realize you had finalized a concept.
Enjoy!

That idea of the city of small organisms reminds me of that Eddie Murphy movie where his body was just a spaceship for a tiny race/crew within.
Anyway, you could be the ghost of an astronaut killed by a radiation burst in space (no brain, grav/rad). Edit: or since you limited your ATs, an /elec or /fire brute with the auras turned to pale green or pale blue.
You could be an alien race of hunters who keep the brain of the most powerful creature they have ever killed in a jar they mount on their suit; both as a display of their power and as a challenge to others. Edit: dual energy sword brute or scrapper. Or katana or claws.
You could make an alien symbiotic pair. The "brain with eyes" is really a super intelligent aquatic race that just happen to resemble human brains. But really they are nearly-sessile aquatic creatures that dont have the limbs to make tools. However, they have telepathy or maybe complex chemical "odors" they release in water to communicate and so they met another race on their planet that were a bit low IQ but still sapient. The second race has limbs for using tools, and hardy resilient bodies. So these two races form a partnership. Brain in jar with maybe the largest huge body you can make, with the fishman gloves and boots and all the weird shoulder spikes and weird body parts or strange tech you can give them. Cause aliens are weird.
Hey, or you could be the body of a supersoldier who lost to his evil nemesis back in WW2, but the repercussions included loss of the despot/tyrants body. So he cut off the head of Captain CloseButNoCigar and uses it by attaching the superior brain to the superior body in a horrific gestalt of evil! Super soldier with Super brain. Brain in jar. SS/Shield Brute or STJ/Shield scrapper.
Anyway, just some ideas.

It could depend on your secondary, and perhaps on what your final end costs are and final global recharge, etc. You could consider a recharge/endurance IO.

My STJ characters are all frankenslotted with endurance, acc, and dam, and most of them have a miracle and a numina and slotted stamina. Heck my /WP version has QR too. And its still a horrible beast. Worse than stone/dark so far. But its fun, so I just keep chugging along and converting insps to end and relying on rest every time its up.
Good times!

I dont get the pun. Is djinn supposed to sound like down? Thats all I can guess, and its more than a bit of a stretch, even with the different ways I have heard djinn and its spelling variants pronounced.

Ugh. I hate Energy Melee since the nerf (way back when). HATE it. I would delete all my characters before I made another character with the current Energy Melee.
Best of luck tho. Some people still like it.

All,
Yesterday, my earth/poison build wad started. I got him up to level 17. He was an earth spirit, with the poison stuff colored black for oil. But today, the halloween bundle came out and now I am DEFINITELY switching to a Medusa concept. Stone and poison. Cant wait to buy the bundle tonight and rock the new medusa face and serpentine hair.
Or I could convert my level 41 earth/TA into a medusa since I sometimes view them as bow users.
I also like the idea of dual wielding medusa. Wish there were a dagger assault and/or a bow assault set so I could make a medusa earth dominator.
Well, anyway. Thats the concept my earth/poison will have. Anybody got any other earth/poison concepts?
