This thread opens an important question in my mind: is Kermit the Frog a recovering dyne addict? -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Yeah, I wonder why they stopped doing the Times. Seemed interesting enough to me the scoop aside.
[/ QUOTE ]
The writer moved on to another job, if I recall correctly. There may have been another reason why it didn't continue with someone else though.
[/ QUOTE ]
Arctic_Sun moved on.
The reason why it wasn't done more often is that it is a nice to have that required dev / writer time to check that what came out in the Paragon Times didn't violate the lore bible. -
[ QUOTE ]
In 2010 there will be a national census in the United States, home of Paragon City. Will US citizens who have merged with Kheldians count as one "person" in this census, or two?
[/ QUOTE ]
They are classified as one person for the census, but have to file separate tax forms each year.
Kheldians and their hosts hate tax time, where they have to try to work out who was doing what when they earned their income and split it accordingly. Especially since the whole 'host as a tax-exempt dependent' loophole was shut down after 1 in 10 Paragon inhabitants claimed to be a Warshade.

Does anyone else think that Reichsman looks amusingly reminiscent of M. Bison?
[/ QUOTE ]
He might not be M. Bison
but he sure does love back-lighting. -
You remember that kid - didn't really know his real name, but everyone else called him Gaylor and took his lunch money, so you did too? Well, it's payback time!

I'd wondered what the devs would throw out to distract us from the I15 badge changes.
The answer is this thread. Truly, they are masters of manipulation. -
[ QUOTE ]
Didn't you used to be a writer for some CoH fansite, UnSub? Whatever happened to that?
[/ QUOTE ]
The old editions are all still there (well, last I checked... http://www.thebeholder.org) but when CoH launched it felt a bit redundant trying to make up stories about CoH when it had its own stories. Plus it came down to either writing about CoH or playing CoH, and playing won.
However, my proudest achievements in CoH/V are definitely getting articles into The Paragon Times, making them pseudo-canon.
Also, I really didn't start this thread as a backslapping session for my personal benefit. But you can all PRAISE ME HARDER if you'd like to. ;-) -

Johnny Butane's just gonna come right out and ask her if she wants to suck face?
[/ QUOTE ]
Possibly, but this being Johnny Butane, he'd arrive at the date, tell her she was doing it wrong, that the restaurant wasn't a real restaurant because he wanted italian but they only served thai food, complain that she wasn't improving to suit his needs, argue that he was going to go out with someone else who was better and more available, yet still insist on staying the entire evening despite threatening to leave repeatedly. -

That and I loved his Bioshock FAQ.
[/ QUOTE ]
Which may actually be finished before BioShock 3: Wet Wet Wet comes out. -
Dear UnSub,
I hope you are well. I am well, thank you for asking.
Here are some things you need to do:
- finish your first MA arc. It would be a good idea to finish it before the entire CoH/V player base ragequits three times over.
- change the name of that arc from "Farmer Old McDonald's Guide To Farming Farms, 3rd Printing". You don't want to get those McDonald's people off-side.
- wonder what makes an 'open letter' thread different to any other thread posted on these forums outside of polls.
- also wonder why the information about Going Rogue wasn't announced after all these changes. Unless Going Rogue was really announced early to distract from Positron's message, which means there is a doozy of an announcement coming to distract from Synapse's message.
- totally go against forum sentiment and say that TheOcho is indeed the best mod we've ever had, great with kids, master of eight kinds of martial arts, able to create the most delicate of pastries and possessing the kind of moral fortitude last seen in James Stewart.
On a slightly separate note, I can't wait until MA allows us to customise our own maps! Wouldn't that be awesome?
Take care,
- UnSub -

What the heck are you people talking about?
[/ QUOTE ]
About how people used to get together in the old days and mush mud into each other while the cows mooed. Or so I believe.

[ QUOTE ]
I'm not disappointed with the way in-game ads haven't taken off. Please see my sig.
[/ QUOTE ]
I did, but was distracted by you advertising your MA arcs underneath. -
<QR>
Sister Psyche could be "Girl Anachronism" by the Dresden Dolls.
I kinda like "Heroes" by David Bowie & Phillip Glass (Aphex Twin Remix) for Statesman, but its discordance might be too much for some people (but ultimately it reflects my opinion of how Statesman views being a hero - a heavy responsibility).
For Manticore, perhaps: "Infra-Red" by Placebo. -
Varney doesn't add much to the discussion, but does defend CoH/V.
There's no such thing as bad publicity, is there devs? ;-) -

Moar Blue freekin' Steel plz.
or Red Steel maybe...
[/ QUOTE ]
Wouldn't that be Red Iron or something of the sort?

Copper Shield will be appearing in one of my MA arcs. -
Who needs blogs when we have official forums?
[ QUOTE ]
Don't make your own to "be seen", it just makes you look like a jerk.

Hmm. -
Officially announced April 24 2004.
Went live October 31 2005.
I looked it up previously and can't be bothered re-linking. -

Maybe Praetorian you-know-who asked the Praetorian /Rikti to help him defeat Tyrant? And they invaded, not to take over but to liberate Praetoria?
Just a random thought.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not everything is a Praetorian Nemesis plot.
[/ QUOTE ]
I did have the thought just then that the Praetorian Nemesis could be ... Emperor Cole.
1) He usurped Tyrant in a secret coup and has been controlling the world ever since.
2) It also means what Tyrant does with Dominatrix suddenly gets less icky. -
<QR>
Praetoria probably hasn't suffered a Rikti invasion because the Rikti were an entirely separate dimension until <BIG PLOT TWIST FROM SEVERAL ISSUES AGO>. Not every dimension would see comparative acts occur - it's just that Primal Earth and Praetorian Earth appear to be dark mirrors regarding people. -

For a second, I thought the question was "Should I get DOS"...
...To which the answer is yes. Who needs Windows?
[/ QUOTE ]
Damn you!
I thought that if no-one had covered it by page 3, my "I'd really go for a more modern operating system" was a sure thing! :-) -

So, is this the Coming Storm?
[/ QUOTE ]
Doesn't look like it... surely they'd be hyping that up like mad.
[/ QUOTE ]
Surely they wouldn't be callous enough to ramp up expectations for the ongoing plot then finish it in a paid expansion.
Frankly, I like the idea of having a nice, separate plot. Not everything has to be about the Coming Storm.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd like the Coming Storm to actually arrive.
There's a chance that Maelstrom is tied into the Coming Storm- the name has a certain link to it. Perhaps the Coming Storm is a City of Dual Pistol Blasters. Or a Battalion of Dual Pistol Blasters. :-) -

R-Type is a hard core shooter.
Therefore I can only assume that CoH/V is going to be also turned into a hardcore shooter, with a lot more twitch action.
So, CoH/V might have R-Type programmers, but does it have Xenon 2 Megablast programmers? -
<QR>
I complained before that the 0 to 5 scale is a poor scale - no mid point and it provides a limited variability of responses. A 0 to 10 scale would be much more effective.
Another issue is that having one score to rank an arc is flawed. There should be multiple ratings - difficulty, storyline, farm, whatever - so that players can better choose what they are looking for. Currently there are issues of farmers one- or zero-starring arcs with extensive stories or of RPers one-starring farm arcs.
Another point is that the devs just threw in a rating system, attached badges to it and apparently didn't think about what that would mean. Where badges are involved, of course it is going to mean that competition for them is going to be increased.
So, in short, my feelings about the ratings system are on the negative side. :-) -
[ QUOTE ]
Keep in mind that a number of the RMT accounts are also created using stolen credit card info, so the cost to them is very low.
[/ QUOTE ]
Also there's a chance they are using a key-gen program to create fake gameplay keys.
Either way, cost to spam = $0.
I'd like to reiterate about the trial: not letting trial players be able to start their own teams is inane. I know several players who started a trial together to see how CoH/V played these days, but couldn't team up so were majorly turned off. -

I'll add to the chorus of Australians who get irritated by not being able to log on during peak hours.
