I am playing my lvl 50 WP/EM tank. With nothing turned on I have a base regeneration rating of 1.93%/sec 55.47hp/sec. I turn on Rise to the Challenge (with no mobs around) my numbers do not change. I then jump into a group of CoTs. my 1.93% jumps up a lot. I finish off the group I was fighting and take a rest. My 1.93% now reads 1.83%. I check to make sure I have no de-buffs on me and I do not. After about 15 seconds it returns to the base of 1.93%
I do not know what to make of this. Is this accurate? Is my regen rate supposed to go below baseline after I kill a group? is it just reporting incorrectly?
any help would be appreciated.

Heh heh, that's the kind of thing that may make the Devs regret visibility lol. Difference was too small for anyone to spot before but now every small bug will be found. Everyone wants bugs fixed but fixing bugs isn't any fun as a programmer.
Bug it! -
Well the Devs hate me and always schedule these things for the 3 weekends a year when I volunteer my time to run a retreat for engaged couples.
So I always end up getting on a 5 o'clock Sunday with lots of Pepsi to keep me up till midnight. At which time I pass out from exhaustion. Good times. -

We've been monitoring the performance of all servers throughout the day and early evening, and based upon recent data from Freedom, we're going to throttle down the maximum number of players that will be able to access the Freedom and Virtue servers for the remainder of the weekend.
Players will not get kicked off the server while we make this adjustment. However, if you log off, you may not be able to log back into the server (i.e. it will appear grayed out on the Server Selection screen).
[/ QUOTE ]
Just out of curiosity, can you tell us what that maximum number is?
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry, but we do not make specific numbers publicly available outside of shareholder's information.

So if we buy 2 shares of stock we can know? -

The one thing I question tho, he said they datamined how long characters were at certain levels. Could this info have been skewed by alt-itis? I know when I hit 22-27 range, I usually start another alt and run them for a while. Or even partake in a FOTM build.
[/ QUOTE ]
We have a "life at level" stat in seconds. This is how long a character spent at a particular level, logged in. While not a perfect indicator of levelling speed, it's an excellent starting point.

Well waiting on GMs sure throws this number off. Fortunately that doesn't happen so much anymore. Although they still need to work on KB getting people stuck in the furniture, knocking mobs through vault/cell doors, etc. that gets old fast. -
Wow.
Dang if you do that for fun you should ask for commission to make players characters into posters/desktop pictures. Probably a lot of people who'd love to have a really cool picture like that of their fav character. -
If you use Cape options for hair the hair will look and flow like a cape and not necessarily like hair.
So your hair will hang down off your head get tied to your neck then flow down off your shoulders. That is how capes work. There are no capes that attach to top of head etc. so the flow wouldn't be right without a separate option.
Another problem is color. When you choose long hair in Hair you choose 2 colors and your hair color is a mix of the 2. You don't have that option in capes and people will complain that they can't create their strawberry blonde bombshell with only. -
I think the Devs are just afraid to make a hard choice and spend most of an issue improving CoV WITHOUT spending the next issue exclusively on CoH. That is how things got the way they are now.
Villains get an issue that gives them Grandville and levels 40-50. Heros get 2 issues that give them radio missions and Faultline because they got ignored. Meanwhile CoV still looks like it did at release.
They don't want to say "CoV needs some love and is getting it sorry CoH" because of course there will be crying in the streets that CoH needs this or that and people posting they are quitting over the issue. Which is all a lot of bull of course.
CoV badly needs content and it DOESN'T need to keep pace with CoH it needs to catch UP to CoH a bit. It will never catch up all the way at this point but things could improve.
Personally I don't understand why new zones have to be all new. CoV is crawling with Longbow. Why not spawn a separate instance of Boomtown for Villains to adventure in? Then all they need are missions without designing a new zone. That saves some time and is certainly in the spirit of things. -
CoX != consoles unless you make is totally separate from the existing game or has a totally different look. You can't just keep adding content to console games - you do realize that.
Costumes etc will be locked in once the game is released, you can't have a 30 minute download every time you connect and PS doesn't have the storage to maintain large updates forever, it isn't designed for that.
It can handle new zones because those can get downloaded as you enter them but things like costumes, weapons, etc. you would have to have all the time.
Most games only add content over time and a little graphics. CoX adds LOTs of graphics with it's content. Any time graphics practically define the game and the PC users sure aren't gonna give up those updates. It's just a bad fit. -
The only thing the poster left out about CoH/CoV is that the powers you get as you level are game changing as opposed to other games where the skills/attributes you get a enhancements.
This applies to both MMOs and solitare type games. Getting a bonus to damage to your sword or spell is nice but since mobs just get more HPs after 10 levels of that is isn't as exciting as all that. Same goes for more armor, etc.
In CoH when you get a new power you usually get some crazy new animation and the power usually has multiple effects you can often use in different ways. So you not only have more power but you LOOK different using it and may start playing the entire game slightly differently.
Powers like Ice Slick or Tier 9 powers can change the game a LOT. Example Dom/Controllers: 32 levels into the game and suddenly you have a powerful pet(s) and can play very differently. Yeah I'll take that over 5 more pts damage to all attacks any day. -
All Ice powers (powers with a slow secondary effect) have a bug in text when enhanced with IO set pieces. Refresh buffs are instead displayed as a buff to Slow.
Not a problem with Standard IOs just Sets. -
Well hopefully all bodes well for CoH/V. The larger studio will hopefully allow them to maintain their current schedule as well as squash some bugs and put out additional "fun stuff". While there is a pretty limited number of people who can work on things like rebalancing ATs and such, artwork/animation is another thing...
I wish them luck and hope that NC Soft doesn't have any funny corporate ideas. (bosses love to read a magazine and think that makes them an expert)
True Story: Billion dollar company, Boss buys Oracle Database and Applications because he wants an "Object Oriented system" because that is the way system are going now.
"Oracle is relational, not Object Oriented" I tell him.
"Sure it is. The salesman told me it is. Look there is an object on the screen" he replies.
"That's GUI." I say in despair. Millions of dollars, a year plus conversion effort and the company nearly folded (Oracle Apps stink) because someone let him read their magazine and he thought he had to replace a perfectly good system. -

I like the idea in theory, but I do have a few thoughts.
First off, Posi mentions the original concern of the high cost 'gating' poorer users out of the process. Then at the end mentions how he thinks they might go for more than the Very Rare enhancements they're about to add even though they'll be not quite as rare as 'Very Rare'. Considering some people seem willing to pay 75 million for a 7.5% global recharge recipe this concerns me not just a little.
Also, will this now be viewed as 'the' source of additional respec thus removing future 'freespecs' with power-changing issue releases?
[/ QUOTE ]
The difference is now that the "poor" can participate by getting respec drops and deciding whether to use them or sell them for exorbitant prices to the "rich".
You get 3 respecs by doing trials + free respecs + veteran respecs. It's not like you can never get one otherwise. Respec recipies are definitely a luxury item.
I DO however expect to hear a lot of whining and moaning about storage and free respecs.
Horders will complain about losing multiple slots to respec recipies.
Why they chose to make them free respecs instead of earned baffles me. As it is you better NOT build it until you are ready to use it, even if it does take up space in your auction inventory. Otherwise you risk losing a free respec from the Devs.
I can only guess they were afraid of people stacking up lots of respecs on one character instead of being forced to use, store or sell. If they were earned respecs they prices for them would be even higher. -
Nice FAQ but since you link is no longer valid any chance of explaining what TempDamage means?
The table is far from self explanatory.
My understanding is that Level is the character's level (rather than the enhancements), I have no idea why there are 2 other numbers instead of just one though.
That explanation should be added then the whole thing moved to the Guides section. -
Had a good time last night but got the same odd salvage that always seems to happen where you can't quite complete a set. Killed tons of stuff got 64 level 3 inspirations into SG storage got all the costume badges (lots of fun there) but got 5 Brawler Gloves, 4 Hamidon Costumes and 10 Statesman masks. No Recluse mask! ARRG!
I seem to have trouble with one piece of salvage every year.
Got random lag at odd times that made no sense at all. 2 AM PDT there are 3 people in the zone and THEN I start getting lag? Certainly not because of the number of players. (On Victory) -
I'm not as ambitious as most of you. I would be happy with some new textures to the walls/cielings/floors.
1) Solid color (no pattern) with no (or as litttle as possible) grid showing. Gives the ability to make a much sleeker look to ceilings/floors.
2) Solid with various sized small dots. For example an all black ceiling with (what appear to be) stars or an entire base that looks like it is floating in space.
3) Run down versions of the tech equipment. Currently if you want a sewer base you have to go magic or have shiney new machines in your sewer. -

Alright, I didn't read all 40+ pages. Anyway, has there been any clues as to where these Oroboros Bases will be situated? Will they be set up in low traffic zones like Galaxy and Skyway, or dropped into Talos like everything else?

Nothing yet.

Awful lot of construction in Port Oakes. If it isn't for this then they have something ELSE planned already. The sneaks. -

But the fact is I had little trouble even solo doing missions on Invincible. Sure I skipped the tier 9 power in Ice but there are a lot of sets with marginal tier 9 powers like MoG on a Stalker (having a high resistance doesn't help when it only leaves you 3 HPs).
[/ QUOTE ]
It's not that /mace is viewed as an unholy union of unusable and unplayable, but rather that it underperforms the other secondaries (except /ice). Anything in the game can solo to 50, if you are willing to put in the time. The relevant question here is how long did it take you do get there, and how would that compare to getting there as a /fire, /stone, or /SS?

You have obviously missed the point of Castles post to which I was agreeing. He said that Tanks are stronger than OTHER ATs not that every build is exactly balanced.
I could care less if every build is exactly balanced as long as none are unplayable or badly overpowered. The only way to make them exactly balanced is to make all the attacks and defenses the same.
And actually I blew through missions quite fast with Ice/Mace once I got to higher levels. The lower level Mace attacks are a problem but the higher level ones work well plus there is the "bug" that lets you perform a sort of combo attack and avoid weapon delay which really helps. If you queue another attack while Bash annimation is running the next attack plays immediately without the normal weapon delay. Only down side is like ranged attacks if the attack is queued up and mob dies you still attack him. -
I have to agree with Castle here. I just leveled a Ice/Mace Tank to 50. By forum logic this should have been near impossible as both sets are considered the worst of their groups.
But the fact is I had little trouble even solo doing missions on Invincible. Sure I skipped the tier 9 power in Ice but there are a lot of sets with marginal tier 9 powers like MoG on a Stalker (having a high resistance doesn't help when it only leaves you 3 HPs).
In PvP this may not be the strongest build but it is still very playable. There are others that have it a lot rougher. Icicles alone make the set very nice (and I think offset Mace's lower damage). -

What kind of example is that to set for Gamers? -
The main quote that Lemon Lass is missing is the very old quote from Statesman saying that the Devs want to do power customization and they will do it, but only when it makes sense.
I see no point trashing the issue further. There is no chance that players will be able to tell them how to code it faster. Players have made their feelings known and based on their replies the Devs already have a pretty good idea how they want to implement PC.
Better to apply yourself to issues where input can actually help. -

I think the rub comes in with a split 50/50 on how people view
1. Forced Raiding if you get an IoP(when the IoP value is so low--i.e. you can get the same effect with IOs without forced raiding)
2. Instant win raid pylons forcing you to reduce size of base
3. Destructable items (though you can mitigate this somewhat)
[/ QUOTE ]
Pretty much. Would I love to do the CoP? Sure. Would I enjoy the content of it? Definetly. On the other hand...
Do I want to have to re-earn several million prestige because of a raid happening during an off-time for my SG? Do I want to have to tell my entire SG they have to spec into PvP builds just to keep the teleporter network from being obliterated? Do I want to have to tear down the entire base and rebuild it because it has more than ten rooms and that makes defending it from raids nearly impossible? Do I really want to tell my entire SG that to actually play the new content, they have to go out and grind prestige for a couple of months so we can buy more control/a bigger generator/defensive weapons/a Secure plot/etc? Not a chance in the world.
The CoP needs to be fixed, yes. But at this point it's a pointless goal because critical points to make it feasable (such as having more than a tiny number of SGs per server able to survive the concequences of getting it) need to be addressed first. Opening the CoP is meaningless if the main function is to open an SG up to having their base destroyed.
[/ QUOTE ]
You quote the reasons I have heard over and over. The groups I have been on all said No way they are ever re-earning prestige. So as far as I was concerned the SGs served no purpose anymore other than chat groups. So I decided to just have fun building a lair for myself.
There are a LOT of people who are afraid of having to re-earn prestige. Much more than 50% I would say. -
Personally I have no use for raiding since I have a solo base (and no interest in raiding).
I use base mainly for teleporting and as a side amusement. 2 million prestige can build a very decent base and gives you a lot to do for a long time. -
Bug: Placing 2nd Tech teleporter in 2X2 room is near impossible. The room handles 2 teleporters it should be easy to drop 2 there.
-
The problem is that from your account you can send out free trials so they need to find the account that is sending the free trials that they are using to spam and ban THAT account. Which probably isn't as easy as it sounds.
The real problem is people who use these services. They cause the problem for everyone else. If they didn't use they they wouldn't bother everyone else. -

[*] The combative inhabitants in a zone will move off the streets and to safer locations when a Rikti Invasion takes place.
[/ QUOTE ]
Now that is a shame if they are all gonna disappear. I always figured an invasion wasy like a Free Experience Announcement.
Forget the Bombs and Rikti I just start soloing bosses and mobs in the zone when I see the red warnings, 0 debt = 0 risk!
Huh maybe that was part of the problem...
