  1. Fix the blaster? Don't really care what the Devs have admitted to - there's nothing wrong with the blaster sets. It is the players who build them poorly. Just my opinion.

    Nice people

I gotta say that Dianeces, if not the nicest toon I know of on Liberty, at the very least in the top three on my long list. Always ready to help, and selflessly too.

I help folks now and again, but I'm usually griping about it while I do it. Dianeces is actually pleasant and nice.

Offered me the use of Malta missions when I didn't have any (for held badges)
Came all the way from the hive to FBZ to help me start Dr. Quaterfield's TF.

That in itself is a pain in the backside commute!

    Thanks D!

GMs should be following a set of rules so that all players are treated equally.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree with you, in part. But, there isn't just black and white. There are shades of gray as well. Sometimes a judgement call has to be made, and sometimes a judgement goes against, which really reeks, and sometimes it goes your way.

If you feel like you were ripped off badge wise, my best advice is to be firm, polite, and unrelenting in expressing why the policy that ripped you off is logically invalid. Speak their language, logic. A PM to the appropriate red name can't hurt, either.

Above all else, when corresponding, be very polite, give credit where it's due, but remind them of the flaws within the governing logic. Saying what about "that other guy" will do you no good. You'll have to demonstrate why you were ripped off. Was is some stupid, lesser known detail like "Must be in final mission for 80% of the time of the teammate who spent the longest time in the mission map. (if a teammate spent 10 minutes from start to finish, and has the longest time in the mission map, if you and others weren't in the map at least 8 minutes, you're just out of luck. )

Some told me that I was out of luck, and quoted some reference to it being at least 50%, another guy said 75%. The Head GM told me 80%.
My point was why is this considered the determining factor, and why doesn't everyone who's ever done or going to do a tf not told of this obscure, illogical conditional statement. I told them to either forkover the badge, or have a red name disclose this secret condition AND the reasoning behind it, or Email everyone with an active account and letting them know, as only 5-8% of the players read the forums.

I came across a level 50 who plays his toon very, very well, but never even knew the game had a forum. Go figure.

Your experience may differ, as will others. But, the experience our toons had in game on a tf was likely different also. So, with that in mind, be aware that not all situations are the same.
And for the record, each one of the GMs wanted to give me the badge, but were systematically unable to comply, as they simply don't have the authority. Only the senior and head GM's can make those calls, as far as I understand it.

best of luck getting what you want and deserve.
  4. First, let me sympathize. And let me refer you to my post in Liberty section about not getting the badge for Justin Augustine TF, because I was called away for about 6-8 minutes during the last mission (second to last - but the last one in a door map) So, I exited, just in case I could not return.

I wasn't awarded the badge. I petitioned. I went through 4 GMs before I got to the head guy who made sure I got my badge.

That being said, all GM's seemed to be quite sympathetic. However, the system is set up so that they can only fix things that are known to be broken at the time. And you are likely right. Most of us DO know more about this game than the GMs because we spend more time playing this game than they do working for CoH.

Incompetents? Nah, I think they're just working for the man, like many of us are. They have their parameters given to them and they try their best to work within them. The funny thing is, I inferred from an interview with CuppaJo and Positron that even the devs don't know the precise numbers needed to get all the badges. Some, I think, truly are "easter eggs" (a surprise planted by the programmer(s). )

So when we petition for a badge that we think we deserve, but didn't get, you might be well served citing why you deserve it, and all those other details.

Let them know what the "requirements" for the badge are. It doesn't save them a step, but it lets them know why you're petitioning. They must then verify that you have satisied the requirement, and that the requirements that you give are the actual requirements. Many lower tier GMs can't access these records and have to table your petition until a senior GM is available.
They may not divulge the actual requirements, but they can divulge that you haven't met them.
For example, the praetorian AVs. Many of us satisfy all the requirements except the AVs, and then start in on the arcs to get them all. Then, lo and behold, even though we're trying to keep track, we end up maybe getting D/c'd on one, but not realizing we weren't awarded mission bonus. (ergo, no credit for the kill)
The records they look at, if they can even look at them on that level will not show that you D/C'd, only that you haven't beaten that one yet.
Kind of like an on/off switch. You did, or you didn't. This especially sucks when we think it's the server that D/C'd us.

All that being said, try to recognize that it's not necessarily the GMs fault, but the system they're forced to work in.

    Activating MoG without warning.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What a truly crappy power. But, alas, I got it for my spines regen, the last power I picked. I may not have it slotted well, but anyway, back on topic.

My first 50 was a defender. I would try to heal a scrapper with MoG, not even knowing what MoG was. After 2 tries, I would give up. So, for my scrapper, I made a bind that would tell the team that I was using MoG, don't bother healing me. Glad I picked that power last, what a stinker.
  6. I can understand you missing a 6 slotted hover, (why not just fly? fly suppresses to hover in combat anyway. ) but there's nothing wrong with flight. Best overall travel power in the game. Sure, it'd be nice to make it faster. But, I'd like to be able to control the speed.

    Badge Questions

    [ QUOTE ]
    Here are my questions:
    1) Why did I not get the a respec badge for that mission - was it becasue I did not choose the respec?
    2) Are my badges now out of order and I am incapable of getting them?
    3) Will I now loose a respec cause I chose a SO award and when I did the Trial. This is important cause I only get three and I have only choosen respec as an award once so far.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Supposedly, you get the accolade when you finally see James Wolfe in Galaxy, it sort of completes the story.

You'll get all three accolades when you do all 3 respecs, regardless of order.
The first respec tf you do gets you stalwart, the second respec tf you do gets you the statesman star, the third gets you the freedom cross. This is the order of issuance, regardless of which tfs you choose to do first.

You picked an SO instead of the respec the first time, no problem, you still have 3 respecs that you can earn. Mind you, you should probably take the respecs, as earned respecs can and do stack. That is, on one of my toons, I have all three earned respecs available to use whenever I wish. As far as I know, they will never take those away. And it's nice, because it's on an issue 4 fire/fire tank who may need all three eventually.

And, I wasn't sure if you knew, but you can do the respec tf and complete successfully as many times as you wish. But you only can earn 3 respecs. At level 50, if the 34-43 out of FF is your favorite, you can do all three of those, and your badge list should read the same as if you'd done the 24-33, 34-43, 44-50. And you can choose not to take the respec a zillion times and keep getting SOs and complete the tf at any time to get an earned respec.

Hope that helps and is not confusing.

    AT reps?

    Rep? as in Representative?
No one person who plays a scrapper, blaster, tank, controller, defender, Peacebringer, Warshade, Brute, Stalker, Corruptor, Master Mind or Dominator has a right to speak for me or anyone else in the forum community.

That's why these forums are here - so we ALL have a voice. Now, if there is a company hired Mod who acts as Liason for each AT -- well, that's not a great idea, either. Even CoH has got some folks who are more personable than others, and more likely to get their ideas passed, while the not so charasmatic person might not be able to "represent" very well.

No, like it or not, the current system of an occasional PM and posting on the forums may be a bit slow, but it does seem to be effective. I say leave well enough alone.

    Badge Questions

    [ QUOTE ]
Lets look further at Archmage Tarixus. He then offers a mission that gives out an Achievement badge: Soul Taker. If that badge were to be used in an Accolade later on (with I7 as you've said), you've pretty much locked many people out of this accolade because people who don't come here likely don't know about history badges, don't know how to get one to unlock Tarixus, and therefore won't have a shot at the badge he offers, and therefore never get the Accolade.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Although I do see your point, I think the folks that come to these pages and read should have that edge/advantage. If they aren't reading the forums, then they probably aren't terribly concerned about badges or accolades. And if they are, they will ask their friends. One is bound to tell them about the forums and the info within.
  13. ok.... let me see if I understand you...

I can get a mission, invite at least one person, have that person stay in the mission map, log off, (from inside the mission) bring my alt in, finish the mission, then the alt that I logged will have the badge? Somehow, that sounds incorrect to me. Please clarify.
  14. I have to agree. Why does an SG need to be "large"?

But then, why does one have to be small?

I think, that whole problem is, it shouldn't make a difference.

I do think that prestige should belong to the individual hero, not the SG. Or split it. A guy who leaves an Sg for one reason or another should not leave with nothing.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
nor needs to be too manny people vanish with sgs id rather keep it simple it almost feels like workwhen dealig with prestige when it need to me simple like influence but not as simple

    [/ QUOTE ]

What? A sentence starts with a capital letter. At the end, you use a period. You have made me feel stupid because I can't make sense of what you wrote. Please revise it.
  16. For what you need, you wont need a computer.

Just Energy room, Control room, Workshop room, Transport room and Infirmary. Roughly 1.13 mill prestige total for those rooms and the stuff that you need to make them work.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
Finally - you can't be afraid to tick people off. Some people are going to think you're a idiot, others will think you don't know what you're talking about. In fact, you can't be afraid to let the majority of the people on the server think you're crazy. CoH is a microcosm of life, if you're lucky - you might make friends with an extremely small percentage of people and the rest will tolerate you. If you're fortunate enough to lead some effective groups, folks might start to send you the "so what are you up to?" tells. THOSE ARE A COMPLIMENT. You want people to want to team with you. Always reinvite those people!

    [/ QUOTE ]

A compliment? I team with someone for a couple of AV's and they want to be buddies? Based on what?

That's not a compliment, that's boredom linked with desperation, in my opinion. If you're not on my global, no need to be asking me what I'm up to.
But that's just me and I'm certainly not typical.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
Q21: Do I lose Prestige by deleting items?
A21: No. The purchase and sell price are the same for all items. You are free to buy and sell anything to your heart's content. Crafted items, however, only refund the Prestige used for placement. It's not clear as of this writing wether the salvage used to construct those items is lost. Use caution when deleting crafted items!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, I can tell you from painful experience, they are lost. Don't delete your teleport pad unless you have tech power or mystic foci in quantities of 6 to spare.

    [ QUOTE ]
Q5: What's the most efficient way to earn Prestige?
A5: Bosses and Lts give more Prestige per enemy. Mission doors in PvP zones give more Prestige for completion. Enemies at +con seem to give more Prestige. Due to the way rewards are split up, running a team with other SG members who are also in SG mode will result in more Prestige being earned collectively. So the most efficient way would obviously be a large team of SG members running PvP zone door missions at a boosted difficulty.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Consider also that there is more than just earning prestige. Earning salvage is also important. Look over the recipes, and you'll notice that Devouring Earth drop a certain kind, crey a certain kind, trolls, etc.

It may pay very well for the SG to go hunting Crey, or CoT.

Additionally, missions in PvP pay no more than missions in PvE. In fact, if you are teaming, one could say that missions in PvE pay more, because the maps are larger.
However, the more missions that can be completed in SG mode as a team, the more bonuses the SG will collectively earn.
  19. Very well done. The only advice I disagreed with was the respec trial levels you gave. Within 2 levels is dependant upon which AT's are 24 as opposed to 26. In my opinion, it would be better to have 28's and 24's for mentor/sidekick options than 24-26 without sidekick. Imagine a 24 blaster trying to hit a level 28 or 29 boss...even with fort, I'm thinking he'd be missing more than hitting. And with ED's impact on damage, you want your damage toons as high as possible.

But I do thank you for bringing up a very important point on individual difficulty settings. If the leader get's d/c, the diff level can very well change, and that tip can make a big difference.

Cuppa Jo, give that hero a free month!
  20. If this helps anyone with their math, my level 29 ice/ice blaster has earned 140K prestige since level 12 when he got an invite to the SG.
I've played in SG mode since the invite. Unfortunately, the next closest earner is a level 35 at about 40k.
An alt of mine, joined the SG in Outbreak, and NO prestige was earned in there
That alt is level 12 now and has earned about 12k prestige, which seems to be average for the group overall.
With the 20k bonus, we now have about 550k prestige.
Since I just got CoV yesterday, and I was promoted to leader given my earning power, I decided to see the interface for base construction. Apparently, I was able to create an instance of one, but I figured wait for the other leaders before I did anything. I was going to pay the rent on it, but he said it had already been paid. Not sure of that, no prestige or influence had been deducted.
I've got 150 pieces of arcane, common and tech salvage, easily. Loooking forward to putting it to some use.
It does seem to me, though, that the interface of construction needs to have more information available. At this point, I'm uncertain if I try to make a room, just to see what functionality I can make for it, if I'll have to buy the room, and then if I see it's too small, be stuck with it. We're talking about a lot of time spent gaining the prestige, I'd hate to see it be wasted through user error or bad design.

Are there any confirmation screens that pop up before they take the prestige ? And at what point do they take it?
  21. Yes, it's better than nothing. However, consider the reduction in damage potential. With ED, instead of our customary 5 dmg, we are "encouraged" to have only 3. This is slightly more than a 2/5 reduction. Which means, we have to attack that much more to deal the same damage. The pace of the game, even slotted with an end reduction, is still ridiculously slow when soloing.

    Warning! Getting off track .......
    ....NOW!
I would even team up to speed it up, but everyone is playing CoV or something. There sure doesn't seem to be many players in CoH now.

DOn't misunderstsnd me, I know some folks are playing. But the folks in my level, well 2 controllers a defender and a blaster can do ok, but a team with a couple of melee would be most welcome. Not sure if it's the newer AT's in CoV or ED or a combination of those and other factors, but gathering a balanced team on Liberty is much more challenging than on Infinity. ( at least it was for me)

    Ok, back on track.......Now!

How about this? Since endurance is always an issue for most toons, how about making it available sooner than level 20?

I've never quite understood why we have to wait that long to get it. I better stop now before I get off track again.
  22. So a range enhancement will extend its reach both length and width?
  23. [ QUOTE ]
    maybe a cone range

Hey, not sure about before issue 5, but there is no cone range option for frostbreath. Or is there a mistake in the frost breath options?
  24. Ukaserex

    I5

I am simply stunned. I have taken a great deal of time and played with each of my toons which are one of each AT and different variations of them.

On Triumph I have 8 toons.

Confidence - Level 50 Empath/Elec Defender - This toon has no problems other than no resistance to mez and low HP. This toon has never had any problems other than that. And, I suppose, nothing will ever be done to keep this toon from sleeping and being held and/or immobilized.

Perfidy Level 50 Fire/Stone tank - After six slotting health, and then six slotting BA, my secondary set now makes up for the problems enacted by burn and Issue 5. I took the 5 slots from burn and put a couple in my toggled power pools for end reduction and the rest in my secondaries. For Dreck's, running 6 on Rugged, since soft aggro is all that's needed for herding, I had no problems burning 51 level 51 freaks. I did have to be a bit more free with the inspirations, especially with the CAB's. Still soloing missions on invincible, except for the missions in the FBZ which about owned me, and I ran out and reduced to heroic.
I haven't teamed with this toon yet, unless you count Drecks as teaming. I never teamed with him before except PSI based Av's. No reason to start now.

Ukase Rex level 50 Energy/Energy blaster - Got some debt in a hammi raid, ran a couple of missions to get rid of it. The higher HP was indeed a help, without, would have had more debt, possibly. Defiance- well, I'd say that there's a reason that bar looks like debt in the xp bar. Not useless, but pointless.

Treachery Level 50 Katana/Invuln Scrapper - In a way, kind of relieved that the numbers for resist energies and resist elements are the way they are, as I can now fully slot my attacks. I don't see any difference in any thing other than being an endurance drain on the empath. Even though my attacks have more damage slots, I see no increase in damage. Maybe I'm not remembering accurately.

Cantankerous Level 50 Fire/Fire - Seems to be something weird about my greater fire sword, not crazy about this change, don't recall reading about it. Other than that and Burn, it seems to be the same. 6 slotted health seems to make up for the resistance reduction a little bit. Teaming was ok with ranged attackers, provided they were at a good distance away. However, when the debuffers move in, if I used burn, they got hurt, despite taunting. But, only had to make that mistake once. (reflex) Now I use burn for a break from the aggro. I collect the aggro and alpha strikes, get healed, then if it's too much, I burn. They go away, get distracted by ranged attacks and then if not attacked, they come back when burn stops. I don;t appreciate the increase in end use nor the decrease in damage resistance. This toon used to be fun, but I have to pay too much attention to my end and the endurance of the healer.
Tat Level 40 Invuln/Stone - after respec, could still handle the aggro for 4 on invince, with sparing heals from a healer. THe buffs, I'm sure heped a good bit. Did not test against anything other than smashing/lethal and outside of AV's will do what I can to face no other type foe than S/L

Charm Level29 Earth/Rad Controller - No chage really. Squishy before, squishy now .Took forever to do a mission solo, still does. Who cares about double damage when held? I'm supposed to use brawl at level 29?

Galactic Kegger Level 27 Warshade (triform) - I see no difference in anything. The dwarf form was still able to handle +3 aggro from 5 or 6 baddies. Took forever to kill them,(stayed in dwarf) but that was nothing new.

On Infinity I have 8 more toons varying in level from 5 to 22. They were all level 1, except for 1( a level 10 fire tank) when issue 5 started.

I used to roll one toon out, then finish it till 50. The warshade on triumph, I could never figure out what the best way to play that was, so he got shelved, and the controller, well, few like to team with controllers because their powers tend to go against the grain when teaming.

On Infinity, the teams I get on are just frustrating. Controllers are all on unyielding while my tank has problems doing heroic missions.

I think the balance is not quite level yet, and the damage resistance inspirations are too low to really notice.

New content - no contact of mine has sent any of my toons to croatoa. So, why go? I haven't gone, and won't go until a contact sends me there.
Raves - Haven't seen one, no contact has suggested I see one, and I'm not going to just stand around and wait for one.
    Same with fires.
Witches hat? none of my toons would wear one even if I knew how to get one. I sure hope you made that stupid thing optional to wear, should I somehow stumble into one.

New players - can you not produce a manual so that level 4 toons are not trying to invite a level 22 toon to their team for a sewer run?

Why is that such a daunting task for you folks? Oh, wait, I know - the rules change every issue.

When is the next issue? Going to produce a Lawyer AV? When you get defeated, he takes 1/3 of your influence.

All jokes aside, Issue 5 is not a finished issue. At least you admit it's not finished. However, you are going to have to let me know when issue 6 is up, because I'm not going to play anymore. I gave it a chance, and find it lacking.

I'll play chess, the rules are already set. No one is going to change how the knight moves or that white goes first.
  25. I have beenmeaning to do a compilation like this for 6 months! Thanks for saving me the hassle! Good job!
