Quote:First, let me say I've been using DSL for years. I'd had cable for three months somewhere within that time frame. In the gulf coast area anyway, DSL is superior. Because when it rains here, the cable goes out, and so does your connection. Not so with DSL. Hurricane Katrina was the last time I couldn't play because of internet connectivity problems.Additionally, next week will be my first off this dang wireless connection and on something relatively stable (though calling AT&T DSL "stable" is like calling a gunshot wound "uncomfortable").
What would you guys say to an additional day for Fire/Rads another time during the week? And if so, what'd work for you?
Also, Cable speed fluctuates (or did the last time I had it) depending on how many people in your area are on-line. You could be fine at a hami-raid and then your neighbor starts downloading something, and then you've gone to lag city. Your Superspeed seems more like Rooted.
Second, a second night is cool by me, as long as it's not Tues or Thurs or Sun. -
The only way I manage to get up and go to work is to remind myself that this country runs from the efforts of people who don't feel like working.
I also have to talk myself into believing that I really love my job. Otherwise, I might just not go to work and be a bum. -
Craft the purple recipes - but first, I need to get the recipes - as many as I can, so all my toons will have the best chances of viability. After all, each character I operate has a handicap - me! Why not give them the best fighting chance?
-
That's pretty generous. You really must be loaded! Or tanked! :P
-
I wanted to get in on this, but I knew sleep would win over the game. (And it did) Now, I'm up, rested and wondering how things turned out.
-
I'm pretty upset with myself - I slept through Tuesdays run. Had my alarm set and everything. Not sure what happened, but I'm not missing Thursday, if I can help it.

More than likely, this is in the wrong place. Since there are so many places, and I don't want to spend countless hours looking at all of them, I'm placing it here.
If it's totally inappropriate, please forgive me.
As this is an Official Going Rogue Discussion, I'd like to suggest that there be someway to disable GR for some characters on an account. I ran some missions with a PUG, and to my surprise, my hero has taken two steps towards being a vigilante. I never knew I was doing a vigilante mission.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who doesn't read anything about the mission, except for the mission objectives. If they're my missions, I will probably read them, but you've got a group on a mission map, you're sent an invite, and you want to get that end of mission bonus, so you've got to hurry and get on the map. No time to be wasted reading the trite trivial stuff.
I'm smart enough to realize that in the scheme of life, this is a trivial matter to many. But, for now, I'd like some notification that this friend who's invited me to help him is leading my character down an immoral path. -
Will you be using ventrilo or team speak? (or some other 3rd party chat service I'm unfamiliar with? )

Like you, I was once a bit shy of PvP. The difference was, I had never even tried it. I was a badge enthusiast, with 332 when I think the most you could get was around 350 or so.
Then, in a PvP zone, I was AS'd (Assassin Strike) and got defeated. I was pretty angry, as I couldn't at that time understand that I had become a target instead of the targeter. I ended up reading all kind of things about PvP and learned that an ice blaster is considered a pretty scary opponent. So, I slotted up with some Hammi-os and waited for the next poor stalker to realize that I had use the empowerment station to provide me with better perception. The the stalker became a slow moving, then frozen target. I've had a pretty good time with PvP since then, although I'm pretty certain I haven't scared anyone... yet.
So, my best advice is to not "hate" PvP. Hate the lag with big teams. But, rest assured - you might run into a villain, maybe not - but as of late, RV has been quiet, except for the sound of the Heavy's footsteps.
Rolling an alt here would be a good idea, but, I don't think I'd want to wait that long -
I came across this thread, having the same question. I wanted to buy the recipes, but not go rogue.
I found that you can buy any recipe with regular Reward Merits - you just have to convert them into hero merits. Then you need the 20 million inf that was mentioned.
I like being able to do this, it gives me something to do with the reward merits besides random rolls for rare recipes.
However, considering the length of task forces, I think it's easier, faster and in a way cheaper to just buy the Purple IO recipe for the outrageous prices at Wentworths.
Just my 2 cents. -

GEL,
Did your survey. I think that there's enough folks to keep a couple of events going, now that GR has gone live and there are villains available to participate as well.
Just my opinion. -
Why not start a "super" Fire/rad team here? There's nothing to stop a host of folks from Liberty, Freedom, or any other server from joining in the fun.
I rolled one for Liberty's Fire/Rad team. Came in a week late, and have pretty much caught up.
I couldn't find a pedestrian to find out how long my character, Zethan has been.. "alive" or on patrol, I guess. But, except for levels 1-4 (when he dinged 5, I stopped playing him solo.) he's only teamed with the Fire/Rads. Levels 5-34, about 3 hours each session, 2 sessions a week, so that's 10 sessions I've played him. Maybe 31 -32 hours? 40 at the most. That's still pretty good leveling speed.
Just wish I could find a pedestrian NPC. I think they've all been kidnapped, or are getting mugged and unwilling or unable to talk.
Some folks might think themed teams are silly/stupid - but this is a great way to learn about the powerset.
Last night, I noticed that I was the only controller playing at range. The rest were in melee, or pretty close to it. Well, 7 other controllers with hot feet and choking cloud make an impact on a mob. So, I learned in that moment a different way to play. It's a way I chose not to play, because I don't really care if my imps get defeated - I can make more when there are 8 AMs on me. And AM comes up so often, it won't be but a moment before the new imps get their dose of AM.
So, here's what you can get with the "super/theme" team experience:
1. Moar XP!1!!!1, and seemingly faster. ( to me, but I tend to solo)
2. An insight into how up to 7 others play pretty much the same build.
3. A broader knowledge of slotting and power selection.
4. An opportunity to tell really bad jokes while your imps do most of the damage.
All those add up to fun for me. -
Well done, sir!
I'll send you a pun via e-mail, cut and pasted especially for you!
*I had to send two emails - needed the extra room for more words and such. -
Well, I am appreciative of your efforts to help bring this to a good many players who wouldn't experience this otherwise.
I can't commit to this myself just yet. -
As far as channels go, I think we're lucky to have the mods who monitor them. Even if they all don't do it exactly the same way, I assure you, the worst of them do it better than I could, because I can't stand doing missions with the chat log up.

Quote:"Imagine a Viking, a Roman and a Egyptian all walk into Pocket D... "I might be interested in this. What kind of theme are you thinking?
Powerset team?
AT Team?
Theme? (all police, all alien, all mercenary, silver age, mystery men, humor, all catgirl, etc)
I think a team of all time travellers would be cool. It could be a select group picked by the menders to set time right.
Imagine a Viking, a Roman and a Egyptian all walk into Pocket D...
This sounds like the beginnings of a great joke. Where's Rockmar? You want to finish this one?
As far as themes go, I was thinking along the lines of an all defender (kin/rad) or all scrapper (kin melee/*) It would be a nice thing to try this set out with a group to shorten the learning curve. (with kin melee) -
Every now and then, an issue comes up that has a simple answer, but because I've been away from game for awhile, what's common sense to some of you escapes me completely.
I ran two taskforces with the same toon - on the same day. This toon started with 8 reward merits. I ran a Sister Psyche, and then had 58(50 + the 8 I had) reward merits. As soon as I exited the last mission, I quit the tf after I saw in the chat log that I was awarded the reward merits.
Then I joined a team for the Imperious task force. As usual, there was enough lag to make me think I was fighting Knives of Artemis. I mapserved at the end, after I saw the merits awarded. So, any reason why I would only have 58 merits instead of the 84 I expected?
8 + 50 + 26 = 84
I put in a petition, but for all I know, you only get merits for the first tf you do that day. Certainly ridiculous if it were true, but so was the nerf to burn when it happened. -
Not really having any major issues, saw the thread and decided to see if NVidia had an updated driver. They do, I was downloading it, and read that it doesn't always work very well with some of the systems out there. I'll leave it alone.

There was a short period when the site was down for the GR updates, but I've not had any problems logging in, or viewing any maps. Anything I can help with? I could probably email you a copy of any map you want.

I took my level 7 broadsword regen scrapper through this, just to make sure it was solo friendly. It is, as long as you have a breakfree or two, as the lt/boss (depending on difficulty setting you have) does mez.
There are some silly things I threw in just to make it more interesting for me, but when I tested it with others, I don't think they noticed anything, or maybe those comments were stupid rather than silly.
Arc Name: Nothing Like Family
Arc ID: 437893
Faction: Family w/ a couple of Malta on a patrol - ran through this 3 times, heard/seen their comments, but never saw them.
Creator Global/Forum Name: @Ukase Rex/ Ukaserex
Difficulty Level: Simple to moderate, depending on AT and play style.
Synopsis: A father realizes that he's neglected his son, and as a result, his son is a bit rebellious and looking elsewhere for an approving father figure. The father asks you to help him find his son.
Estimated Time to Play: The first mission is a glowie hunt - with invis, could take all of 2 minutes if you're not ticket greedy. The second mission is a defeat all, so this could take anywhere from 10 minutes to 2 hours, depending on how many are on the team, the skill sets of that team, whether you're solo or not. My solo level 7 scrapper went through both in 25 minutes, at +1/1 -
You're excused, Fitz. Actually, I think I'd enjoy teaming with you without an MO on the line. No telling what you might type...

I realize that many are busy with GR.
Given that distraction, is there enough interest to do this Friday or Saturday evening around 7 pm central? -
So, I'm curious, who do we have that is "qualified" to lead. There are plenty of folks I have confidence in, that may or may not know all the ins and outs of the Goo. (The Hive and Hamidon)
I know that HazyGrey can lead, I've got faith that the Sisterhood can get it done, and I know that Matt can get it done as well.
Obviously, it takes commitment from the server as a whole, but who are the other known leaders? I've been gone, now I'm back and am wondering who's willing and able.
I'd be interested in leading, but there are 2 things stopping me - lack of confidence in my knowledge about Hami and his mysteries, (which could be overcome) and real life circumstances that don't allow for firm commitments. And firm commitments, when dealing with 50 people is a part of the puzzle that makes a successful raid.
I know the Sentinels of Liberty SG (American Valor and Steele Magnolia, et al) can lead a MSR, and they can probably do Hami as well, but I've not seen this yet.
Anyone else? I'm sure there are SGs that can do this, we just don't hear about it.
