Quote:I speak in a somewhat less than sophisticated, yet more than country bumpkin manner, sir.I'm working on another weekly event list... Thinking Thursday evening... We'll see how that comes along...
Extend?... In what manner do you speak sir?
I was thinking of just a time more convenient for me. Yet, I learned long ago that the world does not revolve around my whimsical work schedule.
Speaking of, I gotta jet now.
Sundays are just rarely a good time for me to commit to anything, as it's my busiest day at work, then church and sleep are the orders of the day. -
The title of this thread was eye catching enough to lure me in, and I don't play on Champion on a regular basis.
But, I would suggest that if you are thinking
"My main still needs 5 shards and an NotW before I can get the 4th tier alpha slot." while you are
1. Busy at work (as opposed to being bored at work)
2. Out with wife/date
3. Hanging out with non-coh/v/gr friends
Then, just maybe, you quite possibly need a 12 step program to step away from the keyboard and realize that the true joy in life is relationships. Real ones. Where men are dressed as men, not kittens with the boob slider all the way to the right, and women have a little body fat, and the men have probably more.
Well, then again, I still need 3 NotWs and 8 more shards for the tank of my second account, and still need 32 more shards for my non-main on my first account, and need all but the first shard for my scrapper, my other blaster that's not my main and my defender, and other controller and still need to respec my stone tank and my warshade, and sheesh, that's just one server......
heh, I crack myself up. -
Quote:The number of shards you get will vary by the RNG. (Random Number Generator).Peps on some of the other servers are talking about walking way with 70 to 80 shards in one raid, so I want in on that action.
I was part of the VERY first successful raid on hami, and enjoyed being part of many raids, even had the chance to be part of one of the new style raids before i18 but not since and would love to get in on a few more soon.
On Liberty, we have been going through the mitos twice, and just ignoring them on the third bloom. This would, of course, reduce the number of shards.
On our last raid, we ignored the last two blooms.
Even so, through both of these raids, three sets of mitos and 2 hamis, I didn't get any shards, except for the 4 that are given at the end. (had to petition for those on occasion as well)
I'm not sure if it's a misunderstanding or what, but the number of shards this person told you is more than the number of mitos. Perhaps they are including monsters that they have to take down to spawn Hamidon? Even so, I am left wondering about the accuracy of 70 to 80 shards. -
I wish I could confirm - but my schedule is not a consistent one lately. One co-worker has a death in the family, the other on jury duty, and one is the son-in-law of the one who makes out the schedule, and we never know if that kid will show up. Nepotism at its worst.
In any event, if I'm awake and not at work, I'll come play. As it stands now, I'm on schedule to work that night and don't see myself losing sleep to join in the fun. But, I never saw myself joining in two hami raids last week either. -
I feel your pain. Rarely do I get to participate in Sunday MSRs or the Sisterhood events because of work (or sleeping to be ready for work).
Maybe, if enough of us chime in, they might extend this event... -
Alas, Denny's will only give you a free meal on your birthday.
They'd actually stopped the program in '96, I think, but for whatever reason picked it back up. The Grand Slam ain't bad at all, especially when it's free! -
I think you're probably being harder on yourself than any of us would be.
But, Tax E. raises a good point. Try another server, try other powersets/characters.
That being said, March 1 is Tuesday, and IHOP is giving away 3 free pancakes! http://www.ihoppancakeday.com/
So, since you're on a budget - and aren't we all - get yourself a free breakfast, then log on and confirm your theory or continue to be puzzled and frustrated.
You might also try heading to a cyber cafe - if you've a lap top - to eliminate your connection as the culprit.
Let me share with you an incident that happened to me, maybe 5 years ago. My very first toon, an elec/elec blaster, also known as Ukase Rex, on Liberty server got deleted. For whatever reason, I could play the very low level toons without any hassles, but my level 26 blaster couldn't move without rubberbanding. It was so frustrating, I logged him and tried a lowbie.
After getting to level 7 or 8 on the lowbie, I figured I'd try the original Ukase Rex again, and still no change. I was so frustrated, I deleted him. Come to find out, it wasn't the character, but my hard drive beginning to go out on me. An hour later, I got the blue page of death (now an archaic error message, I imagine) because my hard drive crashed.
My verbose point is to be more patient than I was - there are sooooo many different things this could be. As for me, I hope you're right - as the cheap internet is something you could change, if you chose to do so. Then, you'd know what the deal was and could understand it.
Hope ya figure it out and come back to us soon! -
Quote:Hey, who am I to chastise anyone for the way they like to play? Some folks are under time constraints - in this economy, we're at the mercy of our employers.I know this is somewhat off topic but I learn quite of bit watching these creative people breeze through these TF/SF missions. The game has taken a shift from developing and learning to work with different play styles to only playing for gear (so-to-speak), doing the absolute minimum necessary in the shortest amount of time.
I'm one of those old fashion, ball-and-chain, old school players who still do story arcs and level up characters the way people use to.
To each their own.
My whole point of this thread - and I guess sadly made - was that those that know all the ins and outs of these speed runs have a responsibility to make not only the intent of the tf known ahead of time, but also the strategy and tactics that will be used. (and those actions that should not be taken)
Additionally, that those that have become accostumed for a specific tf to take about x amount of time to realize that things do not always go according to plan, and that it would be appreciated if they just not participate if they think there's a chance that they may not be able to finish - particularly if their toon is one of the more critical role - i.e. debuff or aggro management. -
Well that clears that up.
Thanks to all. -
Quote:OK, you really have me confused now.Fiery Embrace is no longer a +dmg effect. It adds fire damage on top of all your attacks for 20 seconds.
Your first sentence says it's not +damage.
Your second says it adds damage. Isn't that the same thing as + (add) damage?
And if it does add damage, why doesn't it show up in the combat attribute monitor?
And if it doesn't add damage, why does the power info say it does? -
I'm not sure if I'm understanding this power correctly. For kicks, I decided to monitor my damage bonus, as the RNG kept dropping a surplus of Reds. I notice an 80% damage boost on Build Up, but - my tank is fire/fire/fire -so all my attacks are fire based. But when I click Fiery Embrace, I don't notice any boost in my damage on the Combat attribute monitor.
Anyone have any insight?
Thanks. -
Fitz is the most fun person to team with on Liberty. At least the most fun player I've teamed with. If I could just not be so sensitive about anatomical impossibilities!
And if I ever have to run Mo*tf, I want Fitz there.
He's super smart.
SUPER SMART!!!
And, he adores the sisterhood.
ADORES THEM!
He also has a nifty way of repeating what he just said for emphasis.
FOR EMPH... nevermind, you get the picture.
God Bless ya, Fitz! -
I guess it's only natural - the more tfs we do, the more we see....questionable things.
I've been on 3 more since then - and there seems to be some discrepencies on two other things -
1. The order of killing regarding Famine, Pestilence, Death and War.
From the perspective of my ill/rad -- some runs we did Pestilence first, other teams wanted to do Famine first. I could tell no difference.
2. Weakened Hami -
Clear Rikti, either through pull/lead into the goo or clobbering style.
Some feel like yellow mitos must be cleared before blue. Others felt the opposite. Some realized that it made no difference.
Some felt the pylons should be clobbered before Hami, yet after the mitos.
I've done it several ways with several toons. I saw no difference in killing towers before mitos or after.
The only thing that seems to be accurate is that green mitos need to be held before you can gain any real headway into defeating them.
Be aware, that this was my perception. I work nights, so sometimes, I'm playing tired and may miss things. -
Heh, the title was "Hamburger Afficianado".
If you haven't seen some of the references to In & Out burger on Facebook, it probably won't strike your funny bone the way it did mine. -
Greetings, fellow Liberty players.
I've decided that I need to address a situation that occurred about 3 days ago. It sort of bothered me, and I've slept on it, and it still bugs me enough for me to mention it here.
Speed Taskforces - Hey, I get it. Time is short for some players, myself included sometimes. Sometimes, I've got time and other times I don't.
Efficiency, beat the other peeps' time, etc.
This weeks tf is, as most of you know, the LGtf. (Lady Grey for the returning players)
On this tf, everyone seems to be familiar with escorting NPC's to safety. However, since I returned to CoH last April, every time I'd done this tf, these captives were never rescued; all were led to other mobs for defeating - so that the mission would fail and the team could continue the tf that much quicker. (The first time "mission failed" flashed on my screen, I thought we'd have to reform and restart! I'd almost quit!)
A few days ago, I was on a Lady Grey TF - my third time that day, but my first with my main - and there were several returning players or simply rusty players who hadn't ran the LGtf in quite a long time. (I found this out later)
We had one corruptor - and I'll tell you via PM if you think his actions were so horrible - who quit the tf, because even though he had explained things in a sort of vague shorthand kind of way, someone had actually rescued Glacia, while I had helped lead Infernia to get defeated.
As a result, we now had to rescue the remaining hostages. As you are likely aware, this was going to add to our time a good amount. Maybe even as much as 15 minutes if the team had treated it like a kill all, instead of just hunting for captives, being all split up.
So, the corruptor quit. I understand why, but still rude in my opinion.
After he quit, I then noticed what was apparently a re-iteration of my teammates saying that they hadn't done this tf in a long time.
So, to sum up, I'd like to ask you fine people to always do what @Daleaha does when he forms a tf with speed in mind.
1. Always ask the team if there's anyone that doesn't know how to do a speed *tf. (whatever tf is being done)
2. If they chime in that they do, take a moment and tell them anyway. I might think I know how to do a speed *tf, but others on the team may have a different idea.
3 Take a moment if you're not the leader of the team and ask the team leader in a tell if he will go over the speed tf rules and strategy/tactics, and if not, would they mind if you did.
4. Many of us have a fair idea how long a specific tf should take. Let's be sure to share this number with the group, so that others will have a clearer idea of how much time it will take.
Now, this is not to suggest in any way that you good people don't already do these things.
I sort of blame myself for not being more outspoken during that mission. If I had been, I might have finished earlier and been able to jump on another tf.
It could be that because many of you never left - you already are doing them by rote memory.
Just try to realize that not everyone has it down pat like that. -
Holy handgrenades from Antioch! Robo, you got your thread stickied!
Now we just gotta PvP!
I'm not gonna do anything special, just gonna have my scrapper or my ice blaster, or one of my controllers available for this. A regular ol' run of the mill PvE build. If I have fun and win a few, great. If I have fun and lose a few, even better.
If I get smacked and don't have any fun, well, I gave it a shot, and then I'll save up for PvP build stuff.
And if I still get smacked around, I'll respec the PvP stuff and get rich again! -
I have a toon on Infinity that has been neglected as of late. I may need to show him a little attention in the slotting department, but if I recall, he's as suited to PvP as any other toon I've got.
What times are you typically on?
I work nights, so I'm usually on early mornings - 7am Central to about noon. -
Yes, I'm reading the thread. But, these retrictions, I'm not really paying any attention to them, as I figure the arena will just restrict what needs to be restricted.
-
Just wanted to chime in - if you didn't attend this CC, you really missed on a darn good chuckle.
Apparently, some of Avatea's co-workers were having a little inside joke and gave Avatea a title.
Hopefully, Draygos got a screenie of that before Avatea changed it. -
Sadly, none of these beautiful words were about me, as I did no teaming yesterday. Still, I am not the least bit surprised.
Our server has some truly remarkable people.
And guess what?
When you come to the forums, and explain how wonderful your experience was to those of us that read the forums, it makes YOU one of our remarkable people that play here as well.
So, Thanks to YOU for making Liberty a fun place to play. -
I'm sorry, but the name Kotter is no longer available. I have made a mastermind in Praetoria by that name. I hope to make him an ambitious teamer, but he will go afk frequently so people can say "Welcome Back, Kotter".
His battle cry will be "Up your nose with a rubber hose!"
Obviously, the thugs will be named Epstein, Washington, Barbarino, Horshack and maybe a Carvelli. Since I know next to nothing about this set, I've no idea how many thugs I'll get.
Each mission or tf will commence with a joke/riddle about a relative!
Heh, I crack me up. -
Hmmm.....Ice/ice for PvP...
or.. Ill/rad...
Grav/kin...
Warshade...
Spines/regen...
Guess it'll be a surprise, even to me! -
May I ask what level I can expect my toon to be during this event?
-
I think that's the only AT allowed. PBPvP
Heh, it's kind of fun to say.
