Fiery Embrace not giving damage bonus

I'm not sure if I'm understanding this power correctly. For kicks, I decided to monitor my damage bonus, as the RNG kept dropping a surplus of Reds. I notice an 80% damage boost on Build Up, but - my tank is fire/fire/fire -so all my attacks are fire based. But when I click Fiery Embrace, I don't notice any boost in my damage on the Combat attribute monitor.

Anyone have any insight?

Thanks.

Fiery Embrace is no longer a +dmg effect. It adds fire damage on top of all your attacks for 20 seconds.

Which is also multiplied by damage buffs, making this an extremely powerful damage boosting power.

OK, you really have me confused now.

Your first sentence says it's not +damage.
Your second says it adds damage. Isn't that the same thing as + (add) damage?

And if it does add damage, why doesn't it show up in the combat attribute monitor?

And if it doesn't add damage, why does the power info say it does?

Ok. It doesn't add to the damage bonus numbers, say like build up. So,if you're monitoring "damage bonus" it won't show. What it does do is acts like a pseudo pet and will add fire damage beyond what your power normally does. You should see that reflected in the combat logs.

Taking something similar to Auroxis' example below, if I hit Build Up I'll see the damage bonus of 80% reflected in the combat monitor window. So taking that attack that did 200 pts of Smashing damage, it will get boosted to 360pts of Smashing dmg.

I'm not sure if Elf's numbers below are correct, but we'll use those for now. Should I hit Fiery Embrace the combat monitor window will only show a 0% damage bonus, but you'll be doing the 200 pts of Smashing, plus an additional 80% fire damage from Fiery Embrace. IF you hit Fiery Embrace and Build up then attack you'd be doing 360 pts of Smashing Damage plus an additional an additional 144pts of Fire Damage. Again, only Build Up's damage bonus would be reflected in the Combat Monitor window, but all the damage would show up in the combat logs.

Another way to look at it:

All your attacks have a 100% chance to deal 200 smashing damage and a 0% chance to deal 100 fire damage. Fiery Embrace turns that 0% to a 100% for 20 seconds.

Fiery Embrace adds (I think) 40% of your attack's final damage as additional fire damage for 20 seconds. You can see this in the combat log, but it's really easy to see in play. Each attack will produce one extra orange number while FE is up - so Scorch will show two numbers (normal fire damage, bonus fire damage), Fire Sword Circle will give three numbers per enemy hit (normal fire, normal lethal, bonus fire), and Burn's DoT will show four numbers per tick rather than the usual three (don't ask me why). And yes, it's awesome and you want to use it as much as possible.

Yes, you would be nutty not to take Fiery Embrace now. Fire Damage is not heavily resisted in game, so most mobs will not resist this extra damage you are doing. Also, there is no bias as to the attack set you are paired with, so Axe benefits from this as much as Fiery Aura.

Although (as noted earlier), the damage buffs you are under at the time will affect how much extra fire damage you do. So enhancement slotting in an attack, build up, and inspirations will all help Fiery Embrace do more damage. This might help some sets and builds over others.

Well that clears that up.

Thanks to all.
