I sit corrected! Yay!
I guess I just hadn't figured out how to do this yet.
Thanks! -
Quote:Yes, Mids does this - but not cumulatively. And you are probably correct that it's not optimal. Perhaps something besides pen and paper is.If you are crafting recipes for your build, then, it's already in there.
Window Menu -> Recipe Viewer. That gives you a list of all the salvage you need with the current build.
If you mean for just crafting for sale, well, you could make a throwaway build if you want. But Mids really isn't optimal for that kind of thing, IMO. -
This is less a question, and more a plea for help.
This came up on a global channel I belong to, and I thought that perhaps some of you might know a better way.
Some have had the fortune of accruing multiple recipes worthy of crafting. Each one takes a minimum of three salvage, if memory serves. Some take more.
Now, as it stands, if I have two recipes that take Iron, when I select 1 piece of Iron from my storage bin, this changes the coloring of that ingredient in both recipes, even though I only picked up one.
I would scroll down, filling in the other things I need to craft, and invariably, I'm missing a piece of something, so I go to WW to buy it, or maybe AE to trade tickets for it.
Eventually, I find that I got most of what I needed but was missing that one piece of Iron or Steel, or something. Yet, if there was a way to total up all the different pieces of salvage needed for all the recipes, I think this would be a nice time saver.
So - are there any programs or tricks, tips, whatever, aside from just writing things down in notepad (or some other place) that are available for free use?
If not, can we ask the guy who does Mids to possibly integrate this with the already outstanding program? Or someone else?
Thanks for your time. -
Quote:This is true and good advice. To the people accidentally vendoring stuff:
If you send in a support request with the name of the character, the server, the item (as exact as possible, I.E., a [Level] [Set] [Bonus Types] Recipe and the approximate time of your error, they should be able to help you with item recovery (note that this does have a 'statute of limitations' per se... it's best to do it immediately if you expect any kind of result. Otherwise you're pretty likely to get a 'we can't go back that far into the data logs' response).
I accidentally deleted an LotG 7.5% - mainly because of server lag. I was trying to sell the one above it, but it didn't sell. I clicked sell again, and that one plus the lotg went away.
The gm who assisted replaced it, took about a day or so, and asked me to be more careful. -
Not even sure I'd go to that much trouble. It amazes me that I have my namesake on all the servers, but most are still in outbreak. Wonder how that will work? Guess they'll be in that horrendous tutorial when I log them in.
-
Liberty is suffering as well.
As far as the lag being implemented to promote Beta play, that same thought occurred to me weeks ago. Probably not, but it occurred to me never-the-less.
I know that CoH wants and needs to be competitive. But even if they get new players, they're not going to keep them if they can't resolve these issues.
From a business model perspective, the idea of developing a new way of doing business is an exciting thing. Yet when the product doesn't deliver, sales will be negatively impacted. But, that's not anything they don't already know.
I'm sure that they are aware of this and are trying to figure out what changed between yesterday and today. I would not be at all surprised to see the servers go down for some unannounced (20 minutes?) extended maintenance again. -
Quote:So....what's this all about then? You want to have 5 stars? and you want this because...you want people to see it?Yes, but since 5-star ratings are the only ratings that count for things like getting into the Hall of Fame or showing up on the search lists, giving someone any other rating than 5 stars basically means that they don't want that arc to be played. Playing an arc and not rating it at all is better for the arc's average score than playing an arc and rating it 4 stars or lower, which seems wrong to me but that's how it goes.
Now, I could be wrong,( I often am), but ratings are purely subjective. Some folks might rate something super high, just because there was a reference to their favorite football team.
The only thing to gain by having your arc more visible is for more people to play it - and thus risk someone having no idea how 4 stars would impact your rating - other than it just averaging out to 4.6 or something. So, let's say yours is always listed first - more people play it -- besides the badge for making the hall of fame, (I seem to recall their being one for that), the only thing you can gain is tickets. Tickets are easy, as has been documented in this thread.
999 people play your arc and give it 5 stars.
999*5= 4995 tickets. You can earn that many very fast, seems to me, that'd be the easier way to go. IF that's what you're actually after.
Now, if you're creating the arcs for fun, could that fun be enough reward?
The world is very diverse and many of us don't even think about how a rating will impact your arc, or anyone elses arc. Most just rate it 5 without thinking. Others (mainly the folks that create arcs, I suspect) actually look for dialogue and check clues, scrutinize costumes and yes, like me, check spelling and grammar.
I do understand being frustrated by someone rating your arc low because they are petty and vindictive. I get that, and I'd say that feeling is justified.
The rough part is, well, I don't think there's much to be done about that. -

thanks for posting, Mystic. I actually went to my account standing to make sure I had paid up - seemed like it died precisely at 12am central.

Heya folks. I came to this section trying to figure out something about the recipe drops and this thread caught my eye.
I left the game a long time ago, and returned about 15 months ago. I feel like I'm a bit behind, so I do use AE fire farms to sort of help me catch up.
Regardless, I could be wrong, I very often am.
If someone who makes an arc gets a 5 star rating and someone else comes along and gives them 1, I would think that would average out to a 3.
Given the possibility that a grudge holder could select the arc they want to bash repeatedly - and more easily do this than someone who actually goes through an arc that may have several missions, I would think that the devs could come up with something to discount statistical outliers. Perhaps broadening the rating from 5 to 10, or maybe even a 100. That way, if someone's trying to bash something, the formula could pick up on it, and account for it. (Take x number of high scores and x number of low scores and discount them, then average)
Just an idea.
/begin digress
I've seen some pretty bad farms, and a couple that were pretty good - as far as making me chuckle while doing them.
Like PW, I do count off for incorrect spelling.
However, the idea of me actually sending comments back, well, I'll only take the time to do that if they actually want feedback.
I do applaud the work many of you AE authors do, and wish the devs would allow us to do more of them with the standard in-game rewards.
As for the farmers, a lot of the work I see is pretty ingenious in concept, if not in story telling. As for the non-farmers, I have done many of the dev's choice ones and found many of them to be better than the trite things that CoH comes up with. Others are just not for me.
/end digress
Okay, I'm done interrupting, have a nice day. -
Thanks for the link. I knew that other people were having similar problems but hadn't seen the post.
I'm running xp, 3 gigs of RAM.
Yeah, my system is old, but it worked fine before. That patch where they did something with the map code to try and reduce lag.
I do notice on the occasions that it takes me a long time to load in and I don't get D/C'd, I just see the LCMS message for a split second and I'm back to normal.
I am almost positive this is a connectivity issue.
http://us.ncsoft.com/gameadvisor
That link is to a testing application that support asked me to use. When I looked at the results, it showed me that basically, the CoH side is not getting the signal. Kind of like one modem calling another and not getting an answer.
There's some mysterious reason why I'm able to surf the web, listen to online radio but not able to log in sometimes. It's sporadic, but I can tell you that Fort Trident is a location that I can almost always log in at, but once I get there and try to leave, then I have troubles.
I had thought that maybe my poor system or CoH's "new" upgrades had a problem holding all that badge data, but there are plenty of badgers that don't seem to be having this problem.
And although I am upgrading my system, I'm 100% positive that the problem is on CoH side.
Mind you, I'm ALWAYS positive the problem is on their side, and sometimes it's on my side. <shrug> -
My main thought was, "What if I'm on a tf with more than a half hour left to finish?" or, even worse, "What if half my team leaves for the CC with more than a half hour to go?"
Aside from that, I think it's a wonderful idea. Does the biography/origin story count? -
Since the last patch I have been booted to the log in screen multiple times when zoning. This can be exiting a mission, exiting an SG base, exiting Orobouros, or loading between zones. I get the splash screen, the progress bar moves to about 1/5 of the way and then just stops. After 30-45 seconds I get booted to the log in screen. This has happened on multiple characters and usually multiple times a night. There is no rhyme or reason that I can tell. Usually when I get booted out I cannot load anything back into the game unless I repair all files. And sometimes this does not work either.
Please have someone look into this. -
I think in order to ensure the best card for you, I think it would be good if we knew your operating system, how much memory you currently have and what type Motherboard and cpu you have.
The reason I say this is because the suggested video card might be great - for that system but may not fit on your board. Or, it may fit, but with Windows 7 and 2gigs of RAM, that's not going to be very much RAM for Win 7 and CoH to share. -
I'm sorry. I'm dense. I'm obtuse. I'm lazy. But where is this information found?
My understanding was that if you let your sub lapse and go to free to play you could no longer do certain parts of the game, like Praetoria and Incarnate stuff. How'd I miss this part about IOs being null and void?
A level 50(+1) toon with a set of Oblits in burn would be like a level 50 with nothing in burn?
I'm not enjoying that one bit. I've already paid for that stuff - (in WW). And my understanding is that Wentworth's is off limits, too.
As soon as I confirm this, I'll respec that toon and get those IOs out, at least as many as I can. -
I have noticed a couple of issues with clicking. Let me explain:
Sometimes, when I try to combine three inspirations of one kind to turn them into another, it brings up my list of recipes on hand, or executes a power that was behind one the chosen type of inspiration. (At the time, I'll actually have the mouse cursor over that power when scrolling down to choose the type I want) The selection is in front, and most of the time it works.
Sometimes, if the chosen type of insp is higher on the list, it might click another inspiration, whatever was behind the drop-down menu.
Along the same lines, when pulling salvage out to wentworths, the box that would have me use the slider, or type in how many to stash in Wentworths will be behind the wentworths trading window.
Minor issues, but bugs none-the-less. -
There are some mobs, that for whatever reason, run from my tank after taking a certain amount of fire damage, regardless of a direct taunt.
Freak bosses, Crey tanks, Council Wolves - Not all of them, and not all the time, but sometimes, they've run from my tank --but, after 15, maybe 20 seconds, they come back. Sometimes they begin attacking at range, other times they forget I'm there.
What specific mobs were they? -
Quote:First, welcome back!Hi all!
I recently came back to CoH after a break, unlocked my alpha slot, and through shard drops in regular missions and a couple TFs, got my alpha high enough for the level shift.
I was excited to try out the new incarnate trials and headed to Pocket D to find a group. I ended up getting a tell from someone about it and I explained that I had just come back and it would be my first time. They said no problem, then asked if I was defense capped. I said no, and was called a noob and that was that. It kind of made me mad.
I can understand a melee class needing it, but for a blaster I see no point in it. Seems to me that it would be nice for a solo blaster, but in a team situation it makes no sense to me as the tank should be keeping the mobs busy.
My main has been around since Issue 1, and I've worked hard on his build. It works perfectly fine in all the teams I've ever been in, I'd rather not change it just for trials. Do I really need to change it, or did I just run into some jerk elitist? Figured it would be better to ask. If it really is required, I don't want to make a fool of myself.
Thanks all.
Second, please publish the global name of this clown so we can all put him on gignore. WAIT! Just kidding!
You ran into someone who either has no idea what they're doing, or completely misunderstood you. Chalk it up to an abnormal encounter. -
The stunner seems to have a different impact on several of my toons. However, at no time has any Freak Stunner drained my end so completely, unless it was already very low.
At full HP and End, when the stunner rezzes, he might get one toon to about half, the other maybe a 1/5th. But, different toons of mine have different resists and other set bonuses that might impact end drain.
Still, when my lowbies came to blue side from Praetoria over 2xp weekend and ran Sister Psyche last week for the Weekly, the stunners are more annoying than anything else.
I'd have to agree, this defender leader you came across, probably rolled a blaster first, didn't realize the full potential of the powersets and re-rolled a defender thinking it would be like a blaster with a heal. So Clear Mind and Fort aren't a priority with his play style. It makes me think of the way a lot of blasters will run into a mob first, even though there is a tank on the team to take the alpha. For them, it's fun. They don't seem to mind defeat, so it's usually not a big deal. Just make a note, that way, when you come across them again, you'll know. -
Quote:What new player doesn't have access to IOs? I guess I can understand that if you're new, you're not necessarily swimming in funds - but surely when you come across such a player you give them the ways to afford one - i.e. Buy low, sell high. Crafting recipes, etc. There are still many powers they need to look into, but they probably never will. Epic pool for blaster has such gimped powers in it (EM Pulse, repulsion field, repulsion bomb). Then again, Frozen aura for blaster never got the damage as Tanker's version (it wont really break the damage-balance, since /ice is one of the weakest already), /TA since the day they released it has still issues (floating mobs and the ignite power combined with pets), while other powers became somewhat obsolete or their counterpart has a way better version (timebomb versus MM's detonate), or the gun drown with a retarted 6 sec interuption timer. I can continue, MM merc heal, it even interupts when he is hit by a non-dmg ability, while they did change that non-dmg wont interupt such anymore.
Maybe in time, some day, they would give old sets or outdated powers some attention, for now.. they just focus on new sets, new stuff, more money.
(like fire shield, how to explain a new player with no acces to IO's that he has to use combat jumping and acrobatics to not being tossed around as a tank against knockdown/back/up and immobilise?) -
Quote:Me, too. Pretty much word for word.Since the last patch I have been booted to the log in screen multiple times when zoning. This can be exiting a mission, exiting an SG base, exiting Oroborus, or lading between zones.
I have talked to other players experiencing the same thing. -
I noticed today, just by coincidence, that I got a shard. I saw it in my combat log, it came right after an invention salvage drop. I never saw it display on screen. On the whole gaming session, I saw that there were 3 that I didn't notice dropping. My guess is, very much like an MSR, when there are a lot of things dropping, we see the first thing, but the subsequent drops are not seen. (at least on my ancient system)

Quote:I know for certain that my fire tank can handle the old and unimproved A-M, but I don't think anyone would enjoy me bringing mine in "just to see" how she'd handle the new one, as a lot of effort would have already been done.Edit:
Or an elec. armor tanker (or just one that can withstand A-M).
Other than the areas of green to avoid, and not crossing the plane of anyones opposite color blue/red spheres - what else is different about him?
I know that the new and improved Marauder has that nasty Nova Fist, but there's a warning about that - in the newly revamped Maria Jenkins mission, he's not nearly so ornery.
Wulfrich, I presume you're the one that tanked him on the one you led - any insight?
