It's not all nonsense. They should have one Ouroboros for both alignments. It could be just like pocket D. Then folks wouldn't have to go through the whole hassle of changing alignments to scope out the other sides content.

Let's try not to suggest people have no basis in fact for their opinions. They are opinions and easily recognized as such.
  2. I suspect that if you just "abandon" one of the earlier level missions, that would clear up the space to let you accept another one - if that is indeed the problem.
  3. Every day I come across one or two people who were completely clueless about converters - as they ask the question in global chat -What's this enhancement converter?

When explained to them what they are, they simply claim "Wow!".

As for me, even though I've made over 20 billion since they went live, I still had to buy a set of oblits, and I'd already run out of my stash of kin combats. I thought about getting them the way I usually do - which is use here merits to get any of them that were priced over 40 million- but what's the point of having all this inf, especially when I know I can make 175 million (give or take a few) with a couple of cheap converters?

Admittedly, I'm awaiting the change to allow use of alignment merits. Running sort of low, though it's easy enough to just run an SSA on a toon to get 20 fast reward merits and get a couple of converters.
So yesterday, I spent about a billion on a set of oblits and two sets of kin combats and some rectified reticles. But, in the respec, I took out of the build some glad strikes which have already repaid the investment, plus some change.
  4. Hey! Why u no pets in this build?

    lol

Thanks for the build. I will probably built it just as it is - except I might take the cytos out for a standard defense IO, or another lotg defense for the extra bonus.

Finally something to put all those billions I made with the converters to good use. Except for my warshade, I don't think I've ever seen so many purples in one of my builds.

    Haopy Easter!

Hope everyone has a great weekend with friends and family!

    This is no ordinary bunny!
  6. I am finding the whole converter deal to be bittersweet. I'm pleased that I have multiple ways to get hard to come buy enhancements. However, I find that I don't really have any motivation to do anything.

I used to do story arcs and tfs for merits to convert into alignment merits to get random rolls and craft for profit.

Then I would do story arcs and tfs for merits to convert into converters and change "junk" ios to pricy ones and sell for profit.

But, now, I have lots of profit. For the first time ever, instead of keeping my inf in e-mail, I've had to get lesser used toons to do lowball bids on pricy items.

I hope they come up with something good and interesting to spend the inf on. Otherwise, the marketing is pretty much pointless now. I used to do it to fund the alts, but now, unless prices go back up to where they were, I won't have to farm or market ever again - at least, not in the foreseeable future.
  7. Here's the potential problem with this idea.

Suppose there are 10 evil (ebil as some would say) marketers.
Each of those 10 have many toons that undoubtedly keep lowball bids on those.

If I sell my salvage for the price you say, noone has any way of knowing who actually got it. Was it the new player, or the evil marketer?

I think, it would be far more helpful to just give the new players some inf and give them the url to the forums where they can learn how the market works. (or at least have a slight grasp on it)
  8. This is my finalized build for my level 50 Fire/Fire/Fire tank. She was very good before, now she's amazing.

Remember, different people have different play styles. This build is good for farming (if you havent' a brute), teaming and incarnate trials. With the ATO's proc doing it's thing, you get s/l cap fairly often. And, with that little temp vet pet that boosts resistance, you're there (or very close to it) when it isn't.

End use is a little heavier than I wanted, because I wanted Agility, but - I don't like to keep tabs on end recovery while playing. With Cardiac, I simply don't have to.

(oh, I did change one thing, and that was the travel power. Super speed over super jump. )
  9. Thanks for the link. I am not sure what I was thinking, except I got it mixed up with my st.J/elec brute's aura.

I had read about that end mod thing not working as intended in some end drain auras. <shrug>
  10. That's a fair question.
The reason is because I find that many NPCs do not close in to melee - and I just can't see myself getting taunt. In fact, when I close in - they sometimes are able to run away and then fire at range. And ranged attacks, whether they are fired in melee or from range are still ranged attacks.

It could very well be me, and the way I play the toon. The Conductive aura, at least the way I have it slotted drains end from me more than it takes in. I typically only use it when I'm teamed with someone who has an end boost like RA or AM. As for how I have it slotted, one perf shifter proc, a heal io, a couple generic end mod ios and an end reducer.

The melee attacks are for when the goons close in on me - I don't have the defense to be fighting in melee. A couple of smacks and I'm done. Thus, the pursuit of higher defense and perma dom.
  11. First, I must confess - it seems the more effort I put into a catchy name and bio, the more lackluster the toon seems to be in combat.

I really do not want to delete Osmosis, my elec/elec dom.

Funds are unlimited (though, nowadays, I can't possibly see a build costing more than 8 billion - if I was foolish enough to buy everything NAO! instead of just taking them out of my base bins. I have most sets or purples in storage and can easily get more if needed.

I have spent the last 30 minutes tinkering with the build and am not getting any headway to getting ranged defense at cap. I'm just not accustomed to all the little tricks the ranged toons have at their disposal. Melee is far easier to build in my opinion. But, if I'm to have perma-dom, I need to find a balance between recharge and defense. The toon in question is level 44, and will likely level up via MSRs and some task forces. I'm not likely to solo unless I can reach at least 30% ranged and s/l defense. However, I'm finding, at least in the short term, I'm unable to reach both the recharge I want -125% and s/l/ranged softcap.

I may be wrong, but, I"d like to reach that recharge % without hasten - because if I rely on hasten to reach it, then I'll have an issue when hasten has expired, but not recharged. Then, what happens to my perma-dom status?

As for domination - I know that it protects against a lot of things, and I like how the end bar fills. But, if I have "perma-dom", does the end bar still fill like that every so often?

And Gremlins. These guys are squishy as all get out - are they even worth keeping?

I don't expect anyone to just create a build for me - but if you have some that you can just toss a data chunk up, that'd be great.
I would post mine, but I'm too embarassed to show it. Some empty slots in there because 2xp weekend on the msr, and I still am not sure what to put in there. Also, I want to respec the toon out of flight and into SS, so it seemed pointless to me to just toss anything in there, when after the respec, I will likely have surplus IOs to deal with.
  12. Fire blasters, fire tanks, fire brutes.

Although, I still have much love for my ice blaster, the AoE goodness of fire is unsurpassed. I have an SS/FA brute, but my fire/fire brute is superior in every way. Probably my play style, but fire FTW!
  13. I think a lot of you have some good perspective on this issue.

I will share mine. I'm sure it's not "typical", but I'm equally sure it's a factor. Be warned, there is a bit of a rant below the asterisks. Some of it is stretching the truth to illustrate a point.

I like MoM and UGT trials because they are not "tank and spank". They require that the players keep tabs on their buff bars and the area around them. If someone's not done one of these, they will, for the most part, require some insight from the leader. So, I lead these ...or rather I did.

I would also lead the other trials to help those without shifts get them.

However, to make a long-winded drawn out story at least a bit shorter, there's just no pleasing some people.

Some will fuss because you don't give enough instruction.
Some fuss because your directions are longer than one line and they miss some or all of it for whatever reason. ( I know this is cruel of me, but I honestly think that some people just can't read very fast.) They're not stupid, but by the time they remember to look at the chat box, half of the comments or rewards or whatever have pushed the instructions out of view, so they can't see them.
Some fuss because you did something differently from the way they do things on another server.
Some fuss because you didn't want to wait for their friend to finish up a mission.
Some fuss because you asked someone else (instead of them)to pull the av to a specific spot.

There just really seems to be no end to the foolishness.

The leader calls for chokepoints in BAF, but because most are not familiar with the leader, they all do doors despite the instruction.

Occasionally, there is an amazing synergy on a team or trial, and leading is not just a pleasure, but a privilege. Because, all you had to do was recruit. Everyone already knows what to do. Typing instructions would just make you look slow, because they've already set out to do what you're about to type. These are the people that get rated highly.
    ********************
    Warning -extreme stories below!
    **********************
I used to lead all the time, but now, I won't that often. The reason is, I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. I'm unable to communicate to some 14 year old kid that if he wants to tank, he needs to make better slotting and power selection decisions. I would - but they haven't asked. They have no idea that they have no idea what they're doing. If I tell them, as gently as I can, that they might want to pick fire shield on their fire tank, I get grief. I don't pay their money, so I keep quiet. But, I'm not gonna team with these new players - unless it's just one or two of them with a group that I know are capable. (if they ask, I'm more than happy to share what I know)
That's why I think teaming is down. Because with Freedom, people are free to play - and not invest in their characters. They don't care if they get defeated, they don't care if an Eden trial that should only take 20 minutes takes over an hour and a half. They want to fly back up the holes and fall again for fun. They want to kill the monster instead of tackling the wall.

In short, teaming is down because player quality is down. I like to say I'm only slightly better than mediocre. But, some people are just playing a different game.
If I want to lead, and I get people that have names like "ms. soand so", I already know what I'm up against. The lack of a capital letter on a title like "ms." is indicative of nothing, but it's one of my many peeves. I immediately assume they are young kids without the knowledge of rules of English, or someone too lazy to be bothered with it. I am not perfect, yet, it just drives me up the wall.

So, I don't like to lead, because I would invariably offend, as I'm sure I have just by expressing my opinion.
  14. After resisting the alignment change to villain, I finally caved in and broke 1300 today.

I still have the redside MoTF badges and some mayhem badges to work on.
  15. In this past, almost 2 years, I have never lost anything in in-game email. Not saying it doesn't happen, but I find that the odds are very unlikely.

And, because I could miss something in Beta, where they may introduce level 53 IOs at some future point, I wouldn't want to take that risk, either.

I think the safest bet is to have all the alts that are level 10 or higher to walk around with 1 billion or so.

As for folks that have in excess of 36 to 72 billion, then perhaps it's time to burn some. Have a costume contest, or a stone tank in granite foot race.
  16. I sure can't tell ya, Local Man.

I do know that it hasn't been Positron in a very, very long time either. And, I have, I dunno - maybe 10 toons that are going to get the Geas of the Kind ones accolade as soon as they do the Katie Hannon tf. And, I'm waiting for it to be the weekly. It may not be eligible because it has to be unlocked. <shrug> I notice that Hess hasn't been a weekly either, probably for the same reason.
  17. Thanks for the lfg tip, Ion - but that won't tell me what the weekly is tomorrow. I need manticore, but as I said, no point in running it now, if it's the weekly tomorrow.

I did check paragon wiki and the weekly strike target thread under News and Announcements before I posted.

Periodically, they get busy and forget to update the upcoming strike targets. Thus, that's why I'm hoping for a newletter reference.
  18. I know some of you get the newsletter from CoH. I have checked all the proper boxes, but still don't get it.

Could one of you post it in here or provide a link to it?

    Thanks.

Sorry about the title - that's the reason I was looking for the newsletter - don't want to run a tf tonight and find out that I could have had double merits if I had waited 24 hours.
  19. Truth be told, back when my daughters (twins) were about 15 months old, one of them got an ear ache. The doctor prescribed some wonder drug that put her out like a light. It was liquid and looked like scotch whiskey. So, anytime the kids were particularly overactive towards bed time, we would joke about slipping either Irish Cream in a glass of milk, or some rum in a piece of rum cake.

It wasn't anything we ever actually did, just a silly idea we'd share, as twins are exhausting.

So, no - don't literally feed young infants (or old infants for that matter) alcohol. But yes, you can think about them being passed out, giving you the option to sleep 8 straight hours or play some CoH.
  20. For further insight into my lack of clarity - I recall very clearly when I got this game. I saw that it was MMO - but I had no idea what it specifically meant. When it was spelled out Massively Multiplayer Online, I thought that it meant that the game had sold well and "massive" amounts of people played it. At no time did I expect to see them in the game that I was playing.

It was an impulse purchase. It was either this or an eerie game with a lot of mystery and unexplained murder. So, despite the fact that the eula may have been available, it was not available to me at Circuit City at the time. And, to be honest, it never occurred to me it would have one beyond "I agree to pay, they agree to let me play."

So, thanks for the retcon reference. I wasn't aware there was an actual term for it. I just thought it was bad writing.

Y'all have a nice day now. Again, sorry if I offended anyone.
  21. I am told "welcome to MMOs?" and that "subject to change" is in the Eula.

I just wish that EULA had been on the box so I could have read it before I bought it. I might have saved myself a lot of puzzling.

Perhaps my inexperience at MMOs is part of my problem. Almost without exception, when they change the game, I find it unnecessary.

Some of you see my use of "Bait and Switch" as a legal term. That wasn't my intent. I am not a lawyer. My intent was to express dismay and disappointment at a business decision that I think anyone who's taken a course in Managerial Accounting would have avoided.

In my eyes, and however flawed my feeble mind is, if I buy a comic book, when I read it again later, I do not expect anything within to change.
However, this is a video game. A different thing entirely.
Yet, still, I would not expect to log in and find that instead of English, all my labels are in Korean, because for budgetary reasons, they couldn't afford to pay the folks that write the stuff anymore.
Yes, that's a stretch. Of course, I know that wouldn't happen. The stretch is to just illustrate a reality it seems the servers in question will have to face.

My apologies to those who were under the impression I was implicating anyone under a case of theft by fraud. That was not my intent.
  22. In a word - no.

What you're speaking of is not found that often. First Ward is a fairly new zone, and what they've introduced is something to get your attention. The damage types are a bit more harsh than blue side stuff, so it requires more attention to tactics.

The sad part is, I've got to ask you a question -
The mission holder has a difficulty setting - find out what that is. If what you are telling us is that this ambush that spawned right on top of you was +2, while all the other mobs were the same level as you, I'd call it a glitch, and suggest you /bug it.

If it's the ambush itself that takes you by surprise - I'd ask if you were reading the info that the contact gives. Generally, there are signicant clues that would tell you that clicking on the object will trigger an ambush. They may not come out and say it, but they should allude to it.

It's been at least a couple months since I ran First Ward content. If you'll give me the contact name and mission name, I'll run it and take a peek.

On the bright side, there are ways to "get up right there". It's called "Return to battle", a vet award. Sadly, you'd either have to spend a lot of money, or be subscribed for probably longer than you are, but I'm fairly certain there are self-rez temp powers available in the paragon market.

They have had value for their money. That is, they got a service for their subscription. That service is being phased out. They can choose to continue the service for the same money or stop subscribing.

Interesting factoid: Most Europeans are multi-lingual.

The 12-get-2 wasn't available to European players, and 7 months? At a guess that is fairly close to when Issue 23 will land (I'm guessing July to end of August).

They DID their research, according to Zwillinger:

Their research showed that it might be profitable to keep production in French and German. After reviewing the situation, it turned out that it wasn't profitable. So, because it wasn't profitable, they are ceasing the unprofitable operations.

Um, the costs of marketing in other languages were considered. They weren't getting value for their foreign language marketing or the localization to the other languages. In other words, it costs them more to operate in other languages than they expect revenue from. No business in the world, if they want to be successful, would stick with that situation.
They thought they were getting a game that would be in their language, and now it won't be.

Baited by the initial product, switched to a less useful product, thus making it over-priced for what they get. Yeah, I know what bait and switch means. Is it spot on? Maybe not. But the spirit of it is there.

No, their research showed that free to play games were popular. Because they were free. Not because they made money. It was a a business decision that was risky on the onset. And now, some kids after investing a lot of time are finding that things have changed.

Now, according to a couple of folks that play on those servers, this is actually seen as a good thing, because our alt-oholic player base may go there and help populate the server.

I still think that the decision is a bad one. Not because it might help those servers get more people, and not because it gives me another couple of english servers to play on, but because it shows that if servers are not populated enough, this company might pull the plug on them at any time and as a player, the only recourse I would have would be to adapt or quit.

It sets a very bad precedent in my eyes. You may view it how you wish.

As for the multi-lingual folks, bless them. I suspect that many of them are already playing on the English speaking servers for several reasons, one being to be able to practice its use.
  24. It's a good question you ask, and I'm proud to see that some folks are savvy enough to realize that level shifts are a priority.

Without exception, all of my toons get t-4 alpha before their first iTrial. I'm not gonna be "that guy" with leaguemates that may not say it, but think, "Slacker wants the league to carry him."

I could stop at t3 alpha, and just let the natural course of playing the toons get them their t-4, but I find that I have plenty of toons already in the post-alpha incarnate progression, I don't need to add yet another toon to this process just yet.

Following that, I don't craft anything, or break any astrals or emps down until I get my first rare.
Then it's t-3 Destiny clarion on every toon, no exception. The level shift is what I'm after, and the clarion for it's help with these unexpected terrors and confusion in the ugt.
Then t-3 lore (usually cimerorans, as they give the highest dps)
Following that, if it's a support toon, I go with a judgement, then an interface. I got along 50 levels without any of them, so they are just gravy.

After that, they all craft based on what drops at the end of iTrials. I am really weary of baf, keyes and lambda, so I typically do just UGT. The other trials require a concentration of level shifted toons and there are too many good players on my server with alt-itis. Once they get to +3, they generally park their toons and start playing another that's not shifted.
