I like the fact that I can turn all but the right arm visuals off and just have a massive bio arm.
-
I love the function of the set but man those visuals are a bit too much. It would be nice if we could get a darker alternative with spiky vines and skull cap mushrooms to go along better with Plant Control. Which btw needs a flowerly alternative.

subconsciously thinking about water blast because the forums are tinted blue...

Quote:I've always thought this should be an 8ft radial AoE.Sonic Siphon : Should do more. Every other power of similar nature debuffs 2 things. Or, in the case of Kinetics, does a debuff and a caster buff. How about if this power lowered the targets' resistance AND damage.
Quote:Sonic Dispersion : Needs to protect against sleep and needs the Resistance value increased.
Quote:Clarity : Needs to add Psionic Resistance to the target
Quote:Liquefy : Needs the recharge reduced
Quote:Healing Aura : As the "Healer" set, this power could use an increase in effect. Setting above other sets like Radiation which have a "less-heal focused" concept. A 30% increase is my thought.
Quote:Either one of the following changes, but not both ;
A) Change Fortitude to a PBAoE buff that effects the caster, while reducing the effects by 25% and increasing the recharge to 180-210 sec.
B) Reduce the recharge on Both Auras so that they are perma with around 200% total recharge. Make these non-stacking from the same caster (if they aren't already)
Quote:FORCEFIELDS : This set if very functional solo and on teams, but doesnt stand the test of time. It needs more tricks to appeal to teams and something to help solo.
Quote:The fourth set would be Trick Arrow, possibly, but I don't have enough experience with it to offer anything. -
Quote:base damage really isn't that important in buff-heavy incarnate trials, you're never going to come to a situation where you can't bypass regen/heals. You know unless your group is strategically doing it wrong like the Lichen infested warwalker in UG. So it really doesn't matter what you bring as long as you have some level shifted players to carry the trial.I have yet to see an itrial asking for certain archetypes.
if anything, Tanks are the only obsolete archetypes in irtials now because let's face it...brutes and scrappers can do a fine job at it, and when there are 16+ incarnates with buffs flying everywhere even squishies don't seem to go down.
That with them not doing very good damage... -
Dark Astoria arcs are amazing, just like First Ward's.
The DD trial is on the same level as TPN, it's okay, but doesn't really compare to MM. At least it's not a slogfest like UG or a broken encounter like Keyes.
Changes to the LFG queue system are very welcomed. -
If you're only going to play through each piece of story content one time, then you're looking at about 9 hours. Not really a fair judgement though since you have all the darkness sets added in with staff weapons and beast mastery coming soon.
-
I've always like Ice Mistral and the glossy ice armor she wears.
-
They changed PGA to have 100% chance to apply sleep and can now slot accuracy. Still a lot of improvements to be made but at least it tells us they are looking at it finally.
-
Only AT that I can even see being avoided at all is Kheldians as they don't force multiply like widows/soldiers/trollers/MMs and have mediocre tanking and damage compared to everyone else. Even so the trials aren't even hard, bring anyone you want to just fill the team.

Quote:That analogy doesn't work at all. You have a massive difference in server population which means more resources have to be put into hardware and customer service to handle the number of requests. Also their price is high to discourage people from using it regularly both to prevent strain on the service itself and to prevent gratuitous exploiting.Furthermore, to people who feel the need to complain about this... the 800 pound gorilla in the market offers a "Faction Change Service" similar in concept to Alignment Changes.
It costs $35 US.
The same company charges $25 for a single server transfer, $25 to change the race of your character, and $15 to change the way your character looks.
Paragon's service charges are the lowest in the industry in my experience, and I have played a LOT of MMORPGs.
CoH's population is dramatically small by comparison so the price is also dramatically smaller. Though since side switching has no real exploitative impact on the game's economy or really pvp in CoH like it does that other game, the cost of the alignment changes even for non-GR players is still too high. -
not really upset about the alignment switching existing but the price they are asking for it is downright insane. 800 really? 80 sounds far more reasonable and I guarantee you'll sell a lot more of them at that price than you will at 800.
-
I usually level characters in the 20-40 range only during double XP, cause getting to 20 is easy without and 40+ is easy mode for majority of characters.
Though I'm hoping we'll have the next issue by then, so I can lvl up a dark/ice or dark/dark dom. -
Tesla Cage, Inspirations, heavy damage slots, and Stealth are going to be the way to go. Play like a careful blaster pretty much and run and gun enemies if you have to. When on teams hang to the back of the crowd, support and blast away from your melee as much as you can.

Quote:I got to say the nicest thing about the corruptor set is the range increase set bonus. Having all my powers increase in range without having to slot for range is a very very nice bonus.I did put a set of Blaster ATO's on my E3 blaster, and "purpled" all of them. There are some nice bonuses, (like others have said, roughly equivalent to existing purple enhancements) but nothing very game-altering. Which is probably a good thing.
EDIT: Windfalls I can see using on incarnate trials, all these self-rez, ally-rez, and team inspirations I won't use because I'm forced to devote them entirely to one character. I would totally use them if they were easily accessible no matter what character I'm on instead of having lock them to a character before even know I need them. For instance, to use XP booster I have to open my mail, scroll for it and claim it, open powers window, put it on power bar, and then use it. This right here is a major hassle. -
Quote:which gives complete safety to those in the eye of the storm.Storm is not so much a "control" powerset as it is a CHAOS powerset. Storm achieves its "control" functions less by locking things down so much as disrupting them with Gale, Freezing Rain, Herdicane, Tornado and Lightning Storm ... and a lot of that disruption potential involves knockback/knockdown/knockup/repel with a lot of To-hit Debuff thrown in from Hurricane. Storm doesn't "lockdown" Foes in the way that other powersets can with their powers, but it can perma-disrupt groups of hostiles in ways that neutralize their offensive potential.

Turbo-Ski - female ice mutant who has a split personality caused from the guilt of accidentally killing her husband with her heat transfer powers and from the trauma of being experimented on as a child by Soviet scientists. Because of this her "Reaper" personality blames society and seeks vengeance through massacre. The exception being when she is reminded of her dead husband and how he comforted her, then the "Guardian" personality is in control and she wants to protect the helpless.
Gatekeeper Turboski - after the 2nd death of her husband, Galina disappeared for many years. When she returned she had new powers over darkness and the netherworld and was in command of a secret elite military organization called Tarock. Tarock's goals are focused on setting the world into anarchy in order to be reformed as a unified nation.
Sarix the Devourer - female demon with an insatiable hunger for souls. Made a pact with vengeful Rebecca Morrison who was in prison for murdering the gangsters who killed her parents. Later became known as Sarix Morrison after their souls merged in a freak accident.
Sarix Morrison - still hungers for souls but has it more under control to only consume those she deems deserve it. More roguish is morality than hero or villain. Later dies and gets reincarnated as a baby named Sara (Sarix) Porter. From then on, morality weighs heavily hero.
Project Reaver - begins as an assassin who merely kills because he was brainwashed to do so, but later kills to protect Rebecca Morrison, because she reminds him of a lover he can't remember anymore. After the death of Sarix Morrison, Reaver's only desire is to hunt down and murder her killer. After awakening the hidden power of the Creator gene inside of him, Reaver desperately struggles with being unable to die and dealing with the fact that every moment he lives brings the universe one day closer to being reset by his own uncontrollable power.
Hexetic/Heximus - Man who desires only to prove that he is superior to Project Reaver, to the point of attempting to destroy the universe with Reaver's Creator gene before Reaver can passively do it himself.
Mental Scale - man who had moderate psychic powers but was unwillingly infused with snake DNA in an attempt to weaponize him. He grew viper-like features like scaly skin, snake eyes, and claws, but also gained immense psychic powers. Began believing humanity to be innately evil and hurt a lot of people in that belief. Later met Red Kite, and after reading her mind fell in love and began to think people were innately good. He spends the rest of his life seeking retribution for his crimes by saving not only the innocent but also the guilty.
Red Kite - tomboyish female mercenary for hire who has an unromantic sexual interest Turbo-Ski. Later on reforms and has a romantic relationship with the reptilian psychic Mental Scale. Becomes a General within Tarock but secretly is against it's ideals and sabotaging its operations. Dies giving birth to Scale's child after Tarock collapses.
Kraticax & Tarix - two demon brothers who both only wish to capture Sarix and merge back into one being as they were before. Both wish to conquer and enslave all life as a secondary goal. -
got all my costume pieces and wolf after 48 packs, bought another 24 to get a total of 7 catalysts to make the full superior corruptor set for Turbo-Ski.
All I got to say, what the heck am I supposed to do with all these temps and inspiration I never use!?! -
bought 24 pack, got quite a lot of stuff including the wolf pet and costume pieces and several ATOs. That said I could do without all the restore/revival charges and team inspirations that are now cluttering my inbox. Which brings to my attention the need for a new in-game mail system as there is no way to sort this mess.

Quote:You miss the point of what I was saying. 8 slicks only has as much value as 2-3 slicks because anything beyond that is overkill for standard mobs and 8 slicks at once is mediocre against high HP targets. 8 Freezing Rains scale the same way against all targets and has even greater value against high hp targets. I wasn't making a set comparison in my previous post, just a comparison between slick and AoE -res powers. Not to burst your bubble Ski, but TA does the same amount of -resistance as Storm and 1000 more -regen than Storm. However, against an AV Storm can deal more damage than OSA can easily, but that's 400 damage base for tornado + lightning storm damage on top of your own damage versus 250 damage base for OSA + -1000% regen from EMP Arrow.
Cold Dom would be a better case to argue since it has Heat Loss added in there, so -60% resistance and -500% regen, not to mention the added +def from shields than the other two have to to-hit debuff to attempt to achieve.
Special note: TA Defenders (40%) do more -resistance than Storm Defenders (35%) do, while Cold Dom Defenders remain the same at 60%. -
Quote:Sorry but Ice Arrow, Entangling Arrow, Poison Gas Arrow, and EMP Arrow are all terrible controls for PvE. Ice Arrow has mediocre duration/recharge/cast ratios and has zero side effects. Entangling Arrow is only ever used for -jump -fly, and you're forced to take it since Flash really is useless. PGA's sleep rarely even works and has a very low duration, so it might as well not even exist. EMP arrow suffers from totally needless handicaps like -Recovery to self and long recharge, which is understandable on controllers but not on defenders, corruptors, and MMs.I know you might not like this answer, but it doesn't make up for the difference in more debuffs. It makes up for the difference in:
*Damage--Oil slick is spawn killing
*Control--Can you honestly say that any other defender primary has more control? ST and AOE hold, AOE sleep, AOE slow, ST immob. Dark gives it a run for its money but that's it, and dark doesn't have the damage of TA.
Unfortunately, this is often not what people are looking for in a defender.
I think that it *could* use some mild buffs, but I think many people who play it don't: (a) realize it's late-blooming qualities; and (b) don't play to its strengths.
If they ever buff TA, they are going to need to make a distinction between controller and non-controller ATs. They are already doing this for the Dark Miasma port to controllers by removing controls in favor of new powers. -
Quote:Not to be killjoy, but ran an all TA user STF a few years back and 8 slicks at once is pretty disappointing. There are only two scenarios that happen, first 2 slicks kill standard enemy group instantly and 6 slicks go wasted OR you stack them on an AV and...only succeed to negate out it's regen, but killing is still painfully slow. Now 8 freezing rains is different story, because how powerful -res stacking is naturally.I would have combined the 4 TAs with 4 empaths for max buffing and max debuffing. More than 8 oil slicks seems overkill. The AB boost on all the team would be something in itself to witness. Now consider with burnout and AB how many fortitudes the team could stack
As for Burnout, I find it most useful on long recharge powers that can miss allies/enemies (like Heat Loss) or double stacking AoE holds/stuns on doms/controllers in a pinch. It's long recharge makes it more useful for emergencies than min/max efficiency imo. -
Quote:I think you need to re-read the thread. Your summary in no way represents the discussions in this thread.I think in the end the love/hate can be summed up like this.
The lovers love the concept and that it can do a lot of things well.
The haters prefer other sets that do fewer things better.
It could use a little buff, maybe add -Regen to PGA or Acid. Maybe lower OSA's recharge to 150. I dunno, just tossing out ideas.
But it's still a good set. Not grand, but good. -
For Turbo-Ski,
-Heatseeker (since her power is heat absorption)
-Coldhearted
-Cold Warrior
-Cold as Ice
For Sarix I just use Demonic or Soul Taker -
You keep implying that someone in this thread is suggesting overhauling TA completely as an experience, where as I've seen nothing but suggestions for buffs via numbers or combining like powers like Flash Arrow and PGA into a single power. Even if one power was added because of that, it's not going to change how the set works, only improve how it works. The set will always be an anchor-less, toggle-less, heal-less, and buff-less ranged debuff set. That alone already sets it apart from every other support set in the game.
