Knight Eye! Welcome back fella, a lot has changed in 2 years, will be good to fight alongside you again!
-
Lady and Sgt usually work together on raids Seph, I think in fact Sgt is involved on the 27th raid!
-
was good to get that post Hami feeling again!!!
I'll be on now and again during the week, hoping to pick up some EoE teams and start getting ready for the next raid! -
The Raid ended with a victory for Union this evening!
My thanks for Sgt. for organising and co-ordinating, the team leaders for being patient, and each and every hero that took part for their combined effort!!! -
I'm in a brief meeting after work tomorrow, but should realisticially be logging in at 19:30 at the latest to lead the scrapper team. Zero is already in position in the Hive with a few EoE's ready.
See you all tomorrow!!! -
yeah they did get a damn good ganking afterwards, still would have liked more of a heads up during the initial event though...
-
-
Can we get a bit more lead time on this event next time, I was logged in but didn't really hear about what was happening until it was over...
And since it was a Rikti bashing event Zero was not happy missing it! -
I still have residuial supplies of EoE from the last Hami bashing attempt, which will of course be made availiable. Zero is on standby for EoE farming, I'll keep checking in and posting on the raid channel accordingly.
-
Tsumiju Zero would be doing one of two things to answer this question...
1) Getting someone to work out the average rate of Rikti troops that could be ganked here in Paragon over say 2-3 years against the rate of ganking done on the homeworld in several hours. Whichever is the biggest number wins.
2) Packing some kind of picnic hamper and trying to decide which of his various swords would be best suited for dealing with Rikti armor... -
My best advice (and I work in PC retail) is to get as stable a "platform" as possible first. If it's an Emachine, Packard Bell, whatever name you go for it doesnt matter, so long as it has a decent Motherboard and CPU in it. Most local repair shops, PC world's etc should be able to fit a graphics card and memory, or they can be home fitted.
Gaming PC's can easily be £900 whereas a moderate system, £350, add on an extra £200 for graphics card, maybe some memory and you're quids in. -
I would seriously like the Hami raid to be re-visited, as BAB mentioned, the social aspect is what makes these raids fun!
I personally attended one of the old style raids, which I have to say I regularly enjoyed, even as a scrapper, we found something to do (had some issues with griefers pulling in GM's to the trollers) but I do conceed that the Phantom Army thing must have been boring.
I do however prefer it in every way, shape and form to the new raid. I much prefer Rikti Raids to Hami, yes you don't get reward merits, but you actually feel like you are kicking some serious tail.
I would have liked to see Hami evolve into much more of an encounter where you are perhaps fighting ON and IN a huge biological entity that comprises the various DE GM's rather than just a huge blob. Think Leviathan, but fighting more than just the eye, crossed with Terra from the Hamidon story arc and you get the idea, but...
- Respawning enemies that can 2 shot groups aren't fun especially when they outnumber you.
- Make it interesting, calling in GM's like the Lord Winter encounter is MUCH better than just respawning what you've just taken ages to defeat.
- Lets get some Lusca style moving when injured action going as well perhaps?
I know its extra work, but on the old forums I threw up a whole paged writeup on revamping the DE in the same way the Rikti got a facelift. they are supposed to be the biggest threat to Paragon ingame, but we don't see them used much! -
I'm not normally part of the AT police that won't take certain characters into battle, in fact on most taskforces and MS Raids the bulk of people that I have worked with have just brought what they enjoy playing.
But...
Taking sub level 35 characters into the Warzone is a bit of a No-No in my opinion and with the exception of using the Vanguard base facilities is something I will never do and would really like to see as a 35+ zone again. -
the 1=0 clue did it, had to be very careful in swapping them around properly!!!
-
OMG nailed it!
The three things were...
Notepad, to replace the 1's with 0's and vice versa
A Binary to Text converter availiable online
then the output is a hexadeximal code, again decoded to give the value of
E9QW-3JZG-6WJ5-SWME-5BM2 -
Even dumber to think that an Arachnos Soldier, based on our Earth Arachnos faction, would ever start in Preatoria, considering the Arachnos of Praetoria would likely be entirely different. I would imagine that sensibly, SoA AT's can go Rogue, but not start there, just like there would be no level 1 stalkers in Atlas.
-
hmm, explaining SoA in Praetoria by a teleporter accident, its almost as plausable as Gordon Freeman, at the beginning of Half Life getting the dimension full of Playboy girls instead of the Xen dimension, sorry no doesn't work.
SoA are ARACHNOS SOLDIERS, hence if they left those and Kheldians alone, I would be perfectly happy as it makes sense. -
I sincerely hope that the Rogue system attributes points to alignment over story arcs, task forces etc over time, would make it a more "personal" thing to stick to an alignment, also serving the purpose of facepalming the logic of "EvilRyu" and his "playerbase of retards" post that should be consigned to the bin in my opinion.
-
well thats the 1000+ badges barrier truly broken then lol
As for GR and the video of Herocon online, permission to...
- Drool over the new Graphics upgrade
- Express my love for the Dual Pistols set
- Give a big hell yeah to a new starting zone!
- Appluad Positron for wearing a Cape during a Presentation
-
kinda disappointed that the EU is once again passed over, however pending the outcome I'd be willing to forgive the Devteam if:
- They Don't do a CO "Sakura Park" Blunder.
- They sort out including EU accounts in future competitions
- The winning story is actually a good story and not an Arc that has just been played 999 times because its on the first page...

Now as most are probably aware, my mains have a serious grudge (ok scrapperlock) fascincation with the Rikti and as such even after buying one of everything with my Vanguard Merits, I have over 7000 (I was going to wait for 9000 but then the thread would descend into Vegeta quotes) Merits remaining:
What to do with all these Merits you might ask...
How about:- A purchasable badge for Merits: Vanguard Sword, Shield Member etc. (AE has badges like this as does the Christmas Event)
- Vanguard airstrike temp power (similar to Warburg Nuke but you can buy multiple charges perhaps?)
- Additional Vanguard Weaponry (Dual Vanguard Katana's instead of the Halo one and Vice versa if people prefer the Halo blade on the katana / ninja blade sets as well as the back detail)
- Purchaseable Vanguard items for bases (Staff, Drill Instructor, Firing Range etc)
- Human adapted Rikti armor costume pieces perhaps? (How many people had been jealous of Hro'Drotz's Armor)
Would be good to have more ways to spend unused merits, AE tickets can be skipped by merely not using AE, wheras someone having got the Vanguard badge will constantly earn merits in any Rikti activity so makes sense to have something to spend them on once the current cossie pieces are all bought! -
That color bug has been screwing up manually created binds for eons, reported it several times and now its even creeping into the default binds...

After Action Report:
06/09/09
Having organised several teams for the planned raid, we commenced our attack on the Rikti Mothership at approximately 20:15
The tactic of having the bomber "quit" the team whilst planting the bomb worked flawlessly in organised teams, such as the one who had Brimstone Girl and Verto who managed to plant a total of 7 bombs in just their team!
All in all, we managed 12 out of the total of 18 availiable grates, before the shields restored, which for a first attempt and given the complexity of swapping out team-mates to get extra bomb plants in, I think is a brilliant result.
We can learn from this, I seriously believe that Union can do 18/18 bombs as well as the GM!
My thanks to everyone that participated and I look forward to re-running this again in a few weeks to see if we can go for a full 18 bomb raid!!! -
Suggested strategy for bomb planting teams to allow additional bombs to be planted over the usual number allowed by standard teaming.
Prior to planting the first bomb, the team list should look as follows. ( team leader indicated by * )
- Player 1*
- Player 2
- Player 3
- Player 4
- Player 5
- Player 6
- Player 7
- Player 8
Player 1 then quits the team; leaving player 2 as the new team leader:
- Player 1
- Player 2*
- Player 3
- Player 4
- Player 5
- Player 6
- Player 7
- Player 8
Player 1 then plants the bomb, notifying the raid of the bomb plant during the arming sequence.
- Player 1 ***Planting bomb***
- Player 2*
- Player 3
- Player 4
- Player 5
- Player 6
- Player 7
- Player 8
Player 2 re-invites player one AFTER bomb detonation and then can quit the team to plant the second bomb, Player 1 can be promoted up again to manage invitations during the bomb swapping for ease of use.
- Player 2
- Player 3
- Player 4
- Player 5
- Player 6
- Player 7
- Player 8
- Player 1*
This is going to take a lot of micromanagement but seems to be the only workaround to the bomb limit. If there are any other suggestions, please let me know or post here!
Our main objective is to plant bombs in EVERY grate on each of the three trenches that run towards the saucers middle. Once all bombs are detonated we can then assault and take the centre. This raid WILL be tough going, so anyone expecting a standard run of the mill raid will be disappointed and should clear the Warzone prior to 8pm Sunday.
To those still here, with the patience and determination to see this through, team organisation, briefing and pre combat checks will commence 30 minutes prior to raid start, team members should be prompt and team leaders should be prepared to engage in the above team-member swapping for bomb purposes.
