I'm pro booster packs (though I won't spend money emote packs ...) but if they start with this type of thing I think it'll be time for me to work through my stack of unplayed/unfinished single player games and unread novels.

He didn't say "There's a new booster pack of them coming out alongside of GR".

He said they're "in GR" meaning as part of GR. Said emotes were in the GR beta, they are used by by GR NPCs and with the exception of people using the pack, are only seen by people who bought GR. They were made and intended for GR. That's pretty cut and dry.

    .
Alright, in that case it seems that my opinion of the dance booster goes from 'meh' to 'lame'.
  3. I've done 6 A-Merit rolls over the last 6 days (working through my stash of reward merits )

I've earned over 250 million after crafting and conversion fees (1 kinetic combat was 130 mil) and that is without selling 2x lotg recharge, 2x miracle unique, 3xnumina unique which have been slotted in some poor neglected 50's that didn't have them yet.

I'm quite happy with how the rolls work out

    - Changing height at the tailor, a feature almost everyone had been asking for since forever, should NOT have been sold in a booster pack.

-Open Present, an emote that has been in the game for years and was already animated and done, should NOT have been sold in a booster pack.

-The various sports and dance emotes of the Party Pack, ones Positron himself identified months ago as being part of Going Rogue and were part of the Going Rogue beta until they were pulled at the last minute, should NOT have been sold in a booster pack.

-Any of the repurposed enemy group costume parts David and the art guys are working to adapt to players(but really should always have been available to begin with), should NOT be sold in a booster pack.

    Aditionally:

-Any feature sold in a booster pack, after a 12 month period of exclusivity, should also be able to be earned/unlocked in-game via Hero/Villain/Reward Merits.

-Really, that should apply to some Vet Rewards too at this point.
I agree with you, except for the last two points. Those are just dumb.

Also, that the emotes were in the GR beta doesn't necessarily mean that they were gonna be a part of GR. Other boosterpacks have been beta tested during issue betas. Is there an actual quote from Posi somewhere saying that they were a part of GR?
  5. 7 for both epic and pool powers.
I'd really like this, but I'd like some end game content and everything attached to that first.

    1 for EAT
If this never happens then so be it.
  6. No idea how many people are interested in this, but it mentions CoH so I thought I'd share.

    http://sf-fantasy.suvudu.com/2010/10...y-authors.html

I came upon this video through Brandon Sandersons blog. It's of a panel at NYCC were authors Jim Butcher, Joe Abercrombie, Peter V. Brett, Naomi Novik, Deborah Harkness and Brandon Sanderson discuss fantasy and writing.

At one point (around 9:50 of part I) the discussion turns to the influence of the popularity of online games on the rise in popularity of fantasy books.
Jim Butcher (Dresden Files) mentions playing CoH and his imo hilarious run in with the name genericing policy. You could have worse advertising for the game.

They're fun, quick, easy and new(ish). Add to that that there are way more lvl 10-20 heros than there high level ones (+the high levels can join them too) and you got the answer.

    • Related, I have seen a few occasions where honorable employees who are ready to move on will essentially "jump on a the layoff grenade" for their fellow workers. Details I have witnessed included:
      • Senior employees aware that either they go or three people from their department go to make budget lines doing so out of protest and a protective sense
      • Employees with other opportunities and offers already waiting in the wings making things easier on their bosses. (For some bosses layoffs are the toughest part of their job. Period.)
      • Accepting a nice severance for volunteering to retire early or take the layoff for the team, conveniently coming at a time when said employee is already ready for a change (either of career, employment status, or just three months off)

In other words, if he was laid off, there is a whole lot of none-of-our-business (good or bad) behind the situation. BABs has done some great work over the years during his tenure with CoX. And even if he wasn't laid off, think about it, 5 or so years is a Looooooong time to hold a position in as dynamic an industry as his.

In time, I'm sure we'll learn the truth of this rumor regarding his status. But for now folks, slow down a little on this one.
Since it really doesn't make sense to me to fire your Senior Lead Animator (or whatever his title was ) who has been with you for over 5 years in a round of lay offs involving (most likely) temporary forces (considering the timing just after a major project.) I'm seeing one of the above scenarios as most likely to be what has happened. He left of his own volition to persue other opportunities.

Unless of course he somehow did something to piss off the big wigs and they finally found a good excuse to work him out. (You can see his sudden withdrawal from the community in that light aswell.)

    Anyway,

Thanks for all your efforts over the years BABs, I always liked your work and your wit. Best of luck in your future endeavors. You'll be missed.

-regen debuffs. With enough -regen and some damage you can prevent him from regenerating to far while under his unstoppable. You can hurt him again when his unstoppable drops. If you can damage him enough with his shield down and then prevent him from regenerating to much with his shield up you can whittle him down.

I had the same situation once when the LGTF was just released we had a team were 6 people had smashing/lethal damage (1 kat scrapper, 1ma scrapper, 2 SS brutes, an archery defender and an AR corruptor), 1 energy melee tanker and 1 dark blast corruptor.
The Honoree has the same unstoppable as Statesman. So with unstoppable active he was as good as immune to 7 of our 8 teammembers. But we had 2 dark miasma corruptors (can't recall what the defender was, I believe a bubbler) so we could stack a fair amount of -regen. That battle took us well over an hour iirc ...
  13. 1. Are you male or female?

    Male

    2. What ATs do you mostly play, and for what reason(s)?

Corruptors, dominators, brutes. All for their versatility. They're not stuck to a single team role.

    3. Redside, blueside, purpleside, or any combination of the above?

All sides with a preference to redside, mostly because of the better story telling and consistency of the content. I'm a big fan of Praetoria as well.

    4. What are your favorite story arcs?

Faultline, Seer Marino, the ITF, Rikti War Zone (especially the Dark Watcher), Vernon von Grun, Viridian, Statesman TF. And of course Praetoria.

    5. What makes you like this game?

It's casual. You don't need to spend a lot of time to accomplish anything. There's no need to follow uber build plans to have a character that's functional. And the relatively laid back mindset of the playerbase that imo comes forth from this.

    6. What other games do you play?

Mostly single player RPG's (Baldur's Gate, Mass Effect, The Witcher,... and some RTS (Starcraft, Total War)

    7. How long have you been playing?

    Just over 4 years.

    8. How many alts do you have, what is the average level range, and how many are level 50?

Around 30 characters averaging around lvl 30, 6 level 50's.

    9. Do you bother with softcaps, set bonuses, and all that numerical stuff? What difficulty settings to you normally use?

To an extent. I build my characters primeraly for a concept that I have in mind and then within that concept I try to make them as powerfull as I can. I don't bother with purples or pvp recipes though.

Solo I play usually on a simple +0x0 difficulty, except for my 50 brute who plays everything from +0x4 (for quick missions) to +2x8 (for extra carnage). On teams that I lead +1 above lvl 30, +2 above 40.

Meh, I'm not serious (mostly). You do not NEED any sort of temp power to complete the LRSF, as is clearly demonstrated by the numerous succesfull MoLRSF attempts. Heck on my last succesfull MoLRSF we didn't even pull, we just charged the lot (which is our regular strategy for non-Mo attempts). And only 2 people were purpled out, while 3 were even just on SO/white IO builds.

This comment does, however demonstrate a good point. People always rely heavily on temps when a new 'difficult' tf/raid is released. Everytime people complain it's to hard and can't be done by a PuG (LRSF, Baracuda, ITF,...) and a few months later when enough people get the hang of it the same content is powered through in 30 minutes without effort. The same will happen with the CoP, with or without nukes.
  17. Another 90's classic that I haven't seen mentioned yet:

Type O Negative. Dark, tongue in cheek, depressing and genius.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sMAL...eature=channel
The singer passed away earlier this year (around the same time as Dio) of a heart attack after a life of debauchery and jabs at society and religion, ironicly a short while after he started to clean up and supposedly found christ. R.I.P. Peeter Steele.

    From my previous post:
Machine Head. The band that got me into heavy music. This song defines heaviness for me.
    http://www.youtube.com/user/machineh...14/_mWPPBW4DU8

Blind Guardian. My all time favourite band. Motion captured in the game Sacred 2 for extra geek points.
    http://www.youtube.com/user/blindgua.../0/JyfE55c_ZjI

Iced Earth. Another great band with some classic albums from the 90's.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dfosr...eature=related
Jon Schaffer the band leader and song writer also gets geek cred for being a comic buff and creating an album about Spawn (The Dark Saga) even getting Todd McFarlane to provide the cover art.

Demons & Wizards. If you like the above bands, chances are you'll like this one too. It is a cooperation between Jon Schaffer and Blind Guardian's singer Hansi Kürsch.

Sure, I put up lowball bids, but I don't expect them to go anywhere, because the stuff is just plain too valuable -- there are too many bids higher than those lowball bids that are not getting filled because there isn't enough alchemical silver being generated by the game.
Nonsense. There's plenty of supply, there's thousands of them for sale. There's also the fact that white salvage that doesn't have flippers working on them also have thousands for sale and they do sell as low as 5 a piece.

Yup. The problem is that you aren't walking through the whole economy to see how the flipper's actions affect other peoples' actions.

Completely inaccurate. Again, we are not talking about speculation or guesswork; the experiment has been tried, and we have seen the results.

If you take an item which sells for wildly fluctuating prices, and sometimes there's no supply within a factor of ten of the "normal" price, and add a couple of flippers who do nothing at all but place tons of bids at lowish prices, and list at highish prices, within a couple of weeks the item has a stable supply at a price somewhere between the low and high end of the previous range.

That this should happen is pretty much obvious.

Most salvage, if I'm gonna sell it, I'm gonna sell it by listing at 1inf and not even looking. But wait! Most of the time, I get under 1k inf. Or even under 250. Which means I'd be better off vendoring... So a vendoring I go.

Now, what happens if that flipper is there, consistently bidding more than the vendor will pay me? Why, I always sell the item at the marketplace, because I'm guaranteed to get at least that good a price -- better if anyone's bidding at higher values.

Meaning more of the item in question go on the market to begin with.

Seriously, this is very basic economics. Flippers, in general, stabilize prices by driving the high end down and the low end up. They make it easier to buy things for predictable prices. Now, those prices may not be as low as you'd like -- but in the absence of a flipper, either you'd be paying more or you'd be waiting a longer time for your bids to fill. Or both.
I don't see this working for white salvage though. Seems to me that you have the choice between buying Alchemical silver for 100k or waiting 3 days for a lowball bid to come through, instead of picking one up for verdor prices. I just keep stockpiles of mid level salvage in storage to avoid the hassle.
  21. Here's a heavy 90's classic that people have been rudely omitting:

    Machine Head

Especially their debut album 'Burn My Eyes' (Davidian, Old,...)totally kicks *** and is a 90's classic imho. But there's also its slightly less brilliant successor 'The More Things Change ...' The more Nu-metal albums 'The Burning Red' and low-point 'Supercharger'. Their return to form 'Through the Ashes of Empires' and their latest, more complex master piece 'The Blackening'.

My favourite album from the 90's though is 'Nightfall in Middle-Earth' by German Speed/Power/Prog metal bards Blind Guardian. The fun thing about Blind Guardian is that they're total geeks and write songs about their favourite books and stuff. Nightfall in Middle-Earth is a concept album that tells a good chunk of the story from Tolkien's Silmarillion. It has melody, drama, epics, over the top queenesque layered choruses, 200 bpm thrash/speed metal riffs, flashing solos, acoustic interludes, and a singer that can pack an absurd amount of emotion into his voice, everything a music lover needs
They have plenty of other albums too varying from good to near perfection and from 80's speed metal to their current multi layered epic sound.

Fun fact: They wrote a song for the game Sacred 2. You can watch them motion captured and rendered ingame performing the song as an easter egg. Or search for Blind Guardian - Sacred on Youtube.

The canon is that he comes to Primal Earth during a ceremony gone wrong and Numina is helping him look for a being that is a combination of his best friend and a demon lord. While the praetorian version comes to their world and becomes power hungry under the influence of Diabolique.

How can a being from an alternate world end up in both dimensions as 2 individual beings? It wouldn't make any sense for there to be Praetorian Rikti so why is there a Praetorian Infernal?
The canon in this game is a big convoluted mess that contradicts itself every other word. A bit like real comic books. It annoys me to no end and it's why I don't read comic books (not the American superhero version anway.)
